Want an easy camp food? Canned biscuit donuts! Get at least a 1 quart pot, heat a canola oil or coconut blend. Get canned buscuits, your choice. Separate and poke a decent hole in center. Drop in the oil til light brown on both sides. Take a paper bag with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar and shake up those donuts! Easy peasy with your camp coffee. You can probably fry up the cinnamon rolls that way too. 😊

Reminds me of a cookbook I still have somewhere, from the Desert Storm era, on how to mix/match MRE components to create something a bit more edible.

I have a chuckwagon cookbook from the 1950s that has even older recipes in them and they are pretty good. My husbands friends son asked for a bunch of hot sauce packets for his mres while in iraq. I called del taco corporate to buy them and the company sent a huge box, about 1000 packets to his dad, free.

The Tabasco company’s always been heavily pro-military – Walter McIlhenny who ran the company for about 35 years was also a Marine brigader general.
In 1985 when the company found out we were deploying to Egypt the company sent us a big box of pouches for our web gear – they held the big bottles of Tabasco sauce. Other units sort of gawked when we showed up at the mess tent with the bottles in web pouches hanging off of our sides.

Yeah, the liberal application of Tabasco sauce made a number of ‘C’ rations go down better.
In ’85 on an Egypt deployment the McIllhenny people sent us a big box of hi-quality web pouches for our TA-50 to carry our bottles of sauce in.

About 45 minutes ago my telephone and Internet went out…all from the same company…Spectrum. I went outside to the cable boxes to see if anyone was fooling around and my neighbor asked me what was up. When I told her, she went and chased down the Spectrum guy who was working a few duplexes down.
After a few minutes, he arrived, fixed everything outside and came in to check to make sure everything actually worked inside. It did! Yay! He indicated a number of folks in our complex are having trouble. So it sorta sounds like the trouble is from their end. Anyway, terrific service from their repairman.
Also, it’s great to have younger neighbors (she’s 60+) who can run all over the place without being laid up. LOL!

Is that California adventure or disney world? I have never been to CA adventure. They are closing a huge area of the downtown disney and CA adventure to build a massive hotel that caters to Chinese and others asian countries who spend a ton of money. Theyre building a star wars area inside Disneyland now. Parking is around $25 a day. If we take kiddo, bc its so expensive even being this close, we will do a package and stay nearby a couple days. I used to go as a kid with my dad 4 times a year when they were very supportive of locals.
Our favorite, and kiddos favorite, is Knotts Berry Farm just down the street. Its not perfect but costs are much lower and its got Snoopy!

We always liked Knott’s Berry Farm better than Disneyland. And when I was a kid, there was no entrance fee at Knott’s. Much of the other amusements was free also. Good times at both places, though.
If I recall correctly, every 5th grade class year after year got a free pass to Knott’s one day out of the school year. That year was the first time I’d ever been on a real train. Probably neither the school nor Knott’s does that anymore.
Our 4th grade class outing was to a California Mission because that was the year we studied California history. Our class went to Mission San Gabriel. Since a large percentage of our class was Catholic, they told non-Catholic classmates how to act inside the mission. Great childhood memories!

Knotts has all the CA missions on display in their minis. They still have an exact replica of Independence hall. You can still pan for gold. They dont have the train outside the park because theres a water amusement park now. You can ride the old train inside though.

When Darth Vader first speaks I remember telling my friends that it was James Earl Jones’s voice. They all said “no, why would he do an uncredited voice.” I knew it was, though. Such fun to be right when your studio pals think you’re not. Hahaha!

Trump scheduled to appear at rally in Tampa next week
http://www.heraldtribune.com/news/20180723/trump-scheduled-to-appear-at-rally-in-tampa-next-week
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump will be in Florida next week for another “Make America Great Again” campaign rally.
The president’s re-election campaign says he’ll be holding a rally the evening of Tuesday, July 31, at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa.
He’s expected to talk about the economy and his latest Supreme Court nomination. He is also trying to drum up support for candidates in next month’s GOP primaries, including Rep. Ron DeSantis, a candidate for governor, and Rep. Matt Gaetz, who is running for re-election to the House.
It’ll be Trump’s 36th rally in the state and his eight in the Tampa area, according to his campaign team.

I was wondering – I have 10 more days of sea creatures after today. Is that too many? Should I throw some back in the ocean? 🙂 I set them all up during insomnia night last night, so they’re all ready to go, but I don’t want people getting bored. The only good thing for me is that it gives me more time to set up the horse series.
Todays painting is of Girl Guides and Brownies at the Beach (Tarrant was British & loved the beach scenes).
Hopefully they won’t reach into the water & pull out something like this creature!
These next ones sort of remind me of the shape of their hat, (and also some tacky 1950’s? space movie if you add a couple of eyes on them). The one on the left is Modeeria rotunda, & the one on the right is Zanclea implexa:
I think they’d be happier finding this polka-dotted Plakobranchus ocellatus slug:
You all let me know if 10 more is OK – OK? 🙂
Have a great day everyone!

Seen on Facebook. What do you think?
Laura Loomer
If the Toronto shooter was mentally ill, he wouldn’t have been able to fire a gun 20 times while walking & hit 14 ppl while on the move.
He was a trained assassin.
He was a trained Jihadi who traveled to Afghanistan & Pakistan. Canadian authorities knew who he was.
Terrorism.
Laura Loomer
Do you have any idea how hard it is to shoot while you walk & hit the intended target w/ a HANDGUN? We aren’t talking about an AR-15.
You have to have a lot of weapons training to have the precision the Jihadi in Toronto had.
Fired 20 shots. Hit 14 ppl w/ handgun while walking.
LikeLiked by 3 people
Not really that hard, if train. What hard is when people shoot back at that close of range.
Shoot, Move, Reload, Communicate,
Very tragic, very tragic…….
LikeLiked by 4 people
I wonder, though, if what the family says about their son (that he was mentally ill) is true? Would he have had the ability to train to that level? And where did he do it?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Maybe I’m just being cynical, but, frankly, I’d investigate the family. They don’t seem like the usual shocked and innocent relatives, seeing as they were ready with their press release real quick…which if I remember correctly started off with the “mentally ill” excuse and NOT condolences to the families and the nation FIRST. I’d wager they are involved with Muslim groups like CAIR or some Canadian equivalent. I’d also wager they knew all about sonny boy’s love of ISIS and its online presence so often viewed by jihadis and wannabees.

I’m not at home so I can’t link to an article that is really relevant to this. Will try and post tonight if I remember but an ex-muslim said that Muslims do fake mental illness as a way to cover up or excuse their violence.

It was an article by Walid Shoebat, discussing the murderer of Chris Kyle (God rest his soul). The money quote is this:
…My father was diagnosed as bipolar and I warned the rest home who thought I was mad to say he was a dangerous Muslim fundamentalist until they one day had to call the police after he held patients as hostages because a black nurse refused to convert to Islam after his persistant [sic] attempts.
Fundamentalist[sic] get an excuse bill. My father obtained his papers of all sorts of mental disorders in order to get a retirement and to evade police. …One Pakistani terrorist in California used the same excuses after shooting Jews and they usually get away with it.
You can read the rest here: http://shoebat.org/2015/01/29/man-murdered-chris-kyle-american-sniper-profiled-suspected-muslim-jihadist-americans-need-start-learning-profile-muslims/

“If the Toronto shooter was mentally ill, he wouldn’t have been able to fire a gun 20 times while walking & hit 14 ppl while on the move.”
This is simply not a statement of fact.
I’ve read maybe two paragraphs about the shooting and watched zero information on the news.
I think it is important to fight Islamic terrorists with facts not opinion and Loomer’s opinion on this is just wrong, even silly. To find whether the cat is mentally ill a prosecutor needs to look into his psychological history, his criminal history and of course do an mental health evaluation.
if he travelled outside of the United States alone, I would bet an AK-47 to a pop gun that he is not mentally ill, especially or specifically one with any form of psychosis attached to the criteria of meeting the DSM-V standard of diagnosis.
Do you have any idea how hard it is to shoot while you walk & hit the intended target w/ a HANDGUN? We aren’t talking about an AR-15.
I believe this is a place where a little knowledge is a bit of a dangerous thing.
Of course it is easier to hit more people with a AR-15 than it is with a handgun. It is likely she heard about the silliness of TV shows or movies where the good guy pops the bad guy with a revolver from 100 yards away while the bad guy is showering bullets in the general direction of the good guy. That knowledge doesn’t follow through to this shooter situation in Toronto.
The man was basically shooting shocked, frightened, panicked yet docile people, many of his targets likely close together as they were trying to protect each other. Panicked people in closed quarters when you are the only one with a gun are objectively an easy target. So 14 people is not an unusually high number of hits. Some were likely hit by the same bullet.
Again I have no idea if he is mentally or a simply a savage of Islam or both.
Keep in mind that the mentally ill generally have fixations on something or someone (math, pianos, Marilyn Monroe, guns, conspiracies ) so it is perfectly feasible for a mentally ill person to be good marksman with a pistol (which again this situation would not call for a good marksman to hit many targets.)
A person in an active psychosis could even go into a mall and kill a bunch of people if his delusion was one that made those people a danger to himself.
Anyhow. Sorry to be long winded.
I like some of what Loomer has done. I also think she is an opportunist who tries to pretend that she knows more than she does when she is actually just spitballing.

I found a new recipe, and will try it today. Sounds good (and easy). I bought cinnamon chips just for this recipe. I’ve never used them, so I hope it turns out well.
This bread is a cross between a typical baking powder-leavened quick bread, and a yeast bread. The result: a cinnamon coffeecake-tasting loaf that’s wonderful served plain, and is incredible toasted.

If you decide to make it:
1. Weigh your flour.
2. The batter has an odd texture (probably the yeast).
3. Be sure to rest the batter for an hour before baking.
This is good, but not my favorite. My favorite is the apple coffee cake with crumble topping and brown sugar glaze. I leave out the vanilla, and use apple molasses (boiled apple cider). I also use cider in the glaze.

I can’t remember if I wrote about the movie An Inspector Calls. I watched it last week, I believe. It was pretty good. It was done in the way of a play. It is a mystery, not really a murder mystery, but I think it is one that anyone interested in murder mysteries would like. It starts with a suicide and what brought the person to that and who were involved is what unfolds in the story.

My son sold his business two years ago and began a new career as a bus driver on Portland’s Trimet bus system. He just turned fifty last month…..the job is excellent, the pay is good, the benefits are very fine.
Last night he was assaulted by a young black woman, in her 20’s, who had a filthy and profane mouth, got in his face (physically screaming at him) without provocation and simply continuing and spitting and flailing and screaming for minutes. Male bus passengers were calling out their volunteer offers to come to his assistance. In order to keep liability issues within a narrow circle he chose not to accept their offers.
When she pulled out the pepper spray and began spraying him while flailing, he made use of his well-constructed boot and the situation was resolved. She was removed from the bus. The dispatcher had lost contact with him during the melee but was continuing to speak into the open phone…..communicating, “Police are coming. The police are coming” because my son had already pressed the button requesting help before he lost contact on the phone (from his end…the line was open as the struggle ensued).
The buses all have 24/7 video so perhaps they will find her and arrest her? Dunno. The bus had to be pulled out of service immediately because the entire driver area was filled with the aftermath of pepper spray. So while they were waiting for a fresh bus to arrive, the passengers filled the time with giving their good statements to the police.
He spent some time attempting to adequately describe her demeanor and her assumptions, and said, “Mom, everything we have ever observed about these people who think everything is owed them and they aren’t responsible for anything…..was the case with her…..” thinking somehow she would be able to do this and get by with it.
She picked on the wrong bus driver.
Assaults on bus drivers are frequent. Corporate administration, even though it’s “Portland”, does not genuflect at the altar of political correctness, usually. So we’ll see what happens. He doesn’t think there will be any issue for him at all. He made his statement to the police at the time and went in to the garage today to provide them with what they needed. He wasn’t even supposed to be working yesterday, but often takes an extra shift.
It was entirely unprovoked. His efforts were limited to getting her off of him and off of the bus. He turned down offered help, not wanting to escalate. He made no effort to restrain her – just wanted her to go away.
I find it upsetting to have my family attacked by those who are being empowered by the ugly left.
And that’s all I have to say about that.
LikeLiked by 4 people
Just to be clear, believe me – he is perfectly able to restrain her about a dozen ways from Sunday….he’s six feet and built like the football player he was in high school. He has plenty of sheer strength to pretty much do whatever he thought of doing – but their procedures are that they have to be – defensive only – and get the bad people off the bus if possible.

He just called back with an update and I got some clarification. He had gotten her off the bus once (after she pepper-sprayed him) and then was rushing the door immediately, attempting to get back on continue to attack him.. That was when he planted the boot in her chest as an effective way to (1) create distance and (2) prevent her from re-entering the bus and (3) buy a moment to get the door closed.
He specified that she had no personal belongings on the bus or anything, so there was absolutely no secondary reason for her to try to re-enter the bus. So grateful for the good passengers….it’s going to take a day or so for him to drain the adrenaline. This happened just before 1 am.

So sorry that this happened to your son Sharon. I am happy he kept his head about this and that she didn’t harm him physically. I hope they catch her and she goes to jail.
“Totally unprovoked”, how scary and sad that the Left has created these monsters and continues to cheer them on.

Yes, unprovoked. There was no “subject” to her attack – it wasn’t as though there had been an argument over the fare or anything like that. Nothing.

That is just awful. And, IMO this has been allowed for certain groups of our population. They got away with things like this and it will only get worse without it being made clear to them that it won’t be allowed. I’m really sorry that your son had the experience.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
