Recovering from helping dig a trench for a new propane line. Temps got up into the high 90s and we wuz all asweatin’. The two guys from the gas company did most of the heavy work, they had the trencher, but some had to be done by hand. Nasty part was hammer drilling under ba sidewalk, had to drive a 3-inch pipe under to cut a hole, about 5 inches at a time. Then we had to cover the 60-feet or so up.
But bottom line is we now have two 250-gallon propane tanks daisy chained with a new pipe supplying the house and the emergency generator that will be celivered whenever.

I am liking that b/c it means if we lose power for days we can still have well water, & the freezers & refrigerator will be ok. I can live without many things, but I gotta have cold water & ice. Last time we had a hurricane we had no power for 3 days & I didn’t dare open the freezer & refrigerator for fear the food would be ruined. I cooled off in a big plastic tub full of rainwater in the backyard.

Good morning, WeeWeed! I certainly hope so. I’m still not sure what it means that he did not get a state dinner. Leader of the free world and all that. Strange. Maybe she’s not up to it, but it was sort of a diss.
I’ve seen that people are upset he didn’t follow protocol with her because he got in front of her or blocked her when they were reviewing the troops. If the Brits didn’t have the stupid rule about not touching the Queen, he would have been more than happy to have her take his arm and they would have walked together. She was the one who fell behind and he didn’t see where she was.
Anyway, I’m glad it’s over and hope he never has to return there. Way too dangerous.

Disgusting, but true:
McDonald’s, tossed salad, and toilet paper
https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2018/07/mcdonalds_tossed_salad_and_toilet_paper.html
Nonetheless, if by chance cilantro does make it from field to factory without the addition of feces and toilet paper, raw food always makes its way to restaurants staffed with individuals who, rather than flush, toss dirty Charmin into the corner of the restroom. More disturbingly, by and large, those doing the toilet paper-tossing are mostly non-natives who cannot read the sign written in English that clearly says: “Employees must wash hands before returning to work.”
As a result, at Illinois and Iowa McDonald’s restaurants, 90 people were recently infected with the Cyclospora parasite. For those who don’t know, the most common symptom of cyclospora is watery diarrhea, appetite and weight loss, intestinal pain, nausea, and fatigue.
After the outbreak, health officials alerted the public, saying that “people can become infected [with cyclospora] by consuming food or water contaminated with the microscopic parasite.” Good to know.
What health officials haven’t admitted is that the only way for that particular parasite to end up on the veggies is through the hands of workers contaminated with the contents of plague-ridden intestines.

In the early 60s at the base commissary in Germany most of our fruit/veggies came from Africa. They have large packets of a powdered bleach (a weaker version of the STB we used to decon chemically/biologically contaminated equipmet) by the fruit/veggie aisle. They were free and expected you to take one or more to use at home – you’d pour a sink full of water, dump in enough of the bleach to make the water really nasty smelling, them dunk your produce in to kill whatever the African night-soil fertilized farms might have sent along with the food. Da mo’ things changeses…

Report: House Conservatives Move Forward with Plans to Impeach Rod Rosenstein
https://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2018/07/13/rreport-house-conservatives-move-forward-with-plans-to-impeach-rod-rosenstein/
House conservatives are preparing a new push to oust Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, according to three conservative Capitol Hill sources — putting the finishing touches on an impeachment filing even as Rosenstein announced the indictment of 12 Russian intelligence officers for interfering in the 2016 election.
House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows, in fact, had the impeachment document on the floor of the House at the very moment that Rosenstein spoke to reporters and TV cameras Friday.

Hmmmmm…a good prosecutor can indict a ham sandwich, it’s just an indictment. Rosenstein knows damned good and well that his chances of getting any of those Russians to come here and answer an indictment are just a bit less than his being named godfather to any upcoming Trump children.
So now he’s created an answer to any impeachment effort – it’s Republicans trying to block his revelations of Russians helping Trump steal the election. The Rat ‘Russia’ canard gets new life breathed into it. Whatta game.

Although IMO he deserves to be impeached, it’s a monstrous waste of time. He’s definitely an oddball with an excessively thin skin and anger which spits from every pore. How he ever rose to prominence with so few people skills or without the slightest knowledge of how to use psychology to persuade (a characteristic he seems to have with most of Congress) is beyond me.
Such a huge step for a likely failing outcome, though. Do the House Conservatives really want the turmoil? Doesn’t President Trump already have enough on his plate? Have these House members given everything a real think-thru? I sincerely doubt it.

Shorter version here – I vented next door. So, if any of y’all are taking any heart medication that contains valsartan and your physician/druggist hasn’t contacted you about the recall – you might want to make a phonecall. Seems that after 22 countries recalled any drugs containing valsartan the FDA decided to test the drugs here and whoops – there was an impurity associated with the manufacture of valsartan that is a potent carcinogenic.

lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

“In lieu of having a registry, we instead ask you to consider donating to our mission trip fund for India. Please send your donations to the address listed below. Thank you for your love and support, as wehope to have you join us at our celebration of marriage on August xx!”
What are your reactions and opinions on this?

Do you know them well and trust the mission they are on? Is it sponsored through a church you’re affiliated with? I think I’d research it, but you could do a gift card if you’re feeling uneasy about it.

I do know them well. They would be devastated if we did not come to wedding. She has always wanted to go on missions. He not. They got engaged about momth ago and now they are doing this? I see this no different than asking to gift to a gofundme for a honeymoon. Tacky. Rude. And screamimg loud and clear our presence is not at all about celebrating the special day with us but about the gifts.
Geesh, just don’t register any place and most will give cash and then just use how want, even a mission trip. But don’t talk about material possesions as if that is what A gift from me would be and encourage me to be more noble in my gift giving for a mission trip when you know me well enough that I am against begging for others to pay your way for two weeks of good-deeding in another country that includes siteseeing. Take your own earned money and sacrifice for the couple grand for the plane ticket and travel.
I won’t donate. I will not give cash as that is still donating, and I won’t give a gift as that would become a material possession. Too bad for the couple as we are very biiiiiiig gifters for marriage.

You could donate to a charity of your choice in their name. I’m sure they don’t realize just how crass their request is, and have probably gotten bad advice.

Wow! Well, I certainly see your point now that you’ve provided more details. It makes sense that you feel that way. If they are millennials, I think it’s how most are. A little bit of a head scratcher. If the above statement is true surely they should not need assistance with a mission trip.

Meh… Send a check made out to the church they are doing the mission with.
A less than stellar character had a spouse pass away, in lieu of the flowers the surviving spouse asked for money/checks so that she could send a check to a cancer foundation. I put a check in the card that was made out specifically to the cancer foundation. A little bird told me that she was hopping mad, the same little bird told me it was probably the only donation the cancer foundation received from the surviving spouse.
It depends on how much you like these folks and how much you trust their character.

A pet peeve of mine about funeral is the request for no flowers. Flowers are LIFE! My dad died when I was a youngster, flowers were everywhere. I still have a.china tea cup and saucer that had a plant in it. Tradition was for family to put aside the plants they wanted. The flowers were taken to the cemetary, people grabbing an arrangement, and then were de-vased at cemetery to create a grave blanket or tossed in grave as filling. People took the vases home as rememberance. We had a bunch of vases at home from such occasions and when we put flowers in one, we talked about the person, their life, and said a prayer for their family. Sometimes my mom would take flowers in a vase from a funeral to the family/widow a few months after funeral, when people had expected them to move on, and share memories with them.
I knew someone who would, If it was a young family and the dad/husband died, put a vase from the funeral on the counter top for her family to put their change in. When enough in there, she might buy groceries and leave anonamously. Or leave momies at local shoe store for them to be contacted for shoes, she came up with all sorts of things to use the money for – someone to mow the lawn, beuaty parlor, summer camp.
And now. People actually put in funeral notice not to waste money on flowers, but give to such-and-such charity.
I thought last night when I slept on it I would be in a better place about the invite, and I hoped I would, as I was sounding like a complaining old lady! But………I am still waaaay too opinionated about it when it is not something to warrant such judgement! Heck! It is not even my business, really! I just hope next time the girl is staying with us, she does not ask what I thought of the invite. I better start praying To be the loving, speak kind, encouring words and reflect HIS love, and not my self-righeous indignation!

I think this is wonderful, it says, you are not forgotten, nor is your loved one who went on before you.
And the money for needs of a young widowed family is also very moving.

My first was a Jewish wedding on Long Island, NY. I was given a lovely white, small purse, which various relatives put cash in for us as they hugged and wished us well. Seems it was traditional to give that way. I bought a sewing machine with some of the money (which I still use, 47 years later!). Also received several lovely items, including an antique, silver bowl which I still cherish & remember the givers when I see it. I think it is tacky to ask for anything but good wishes, but it takes all kinds….

Haven’t seen any reference to Bastille Day here. Many years ago a friend who loved to have a party for any occasion held a Bastille Day party. He gave a thin red ribbon to each guest, saying we should wear it as the French did at parties after the revolution, to honor those who lost their heads to the guillotine. The French holiday is just another reason to party in the streets of New Orleans, of course!

Yup, a great Southern Mississippi morning and my GGS and I are on the way to one of those gun shows that scares the bejabbers outta treasonous liberals. Gonna get those Amendments into his blood before those cultural vampires masquerading as ‘educators’ try to drain ’em out.

I thought about buying a couple of packs of the new ’24 hour’ rations but I thought they might damage my GGS’s still developing digestive system.
