Last night on Facebook I became involved in a conversation about the incivility on the left. You know, the attacks on conservative politicians in restaurants, at their homes, on the street. It was under a posting by Michael Ramirez of one of his latest political cartoons, which satirizes the recent assault in Texas of a young teen who was wearing a MAGA hat. His hat was stolen, and a full drink thrown in his face at a Whataburger restaurant:
The comment that started the conversation was this one (by a man I shall leave unnamed):

Before I share with you my response, let’s recap some of the assaults on Trump administration members, and Republican elected officials:
- There have been several attacks on Sarah Sanders. First the “comedian” at the White Correspondent’s Dinner, saying, among other things, “What’s Uncle Tom but for white women who disappoint other white women?” Then there was the owner of the restaurant in Virginia, who asked Sanders to leave because she works for President Trump.
- Two attacks on DHS Kirstjen Nielsen; first in a Mexican restaurant in DC, where she was accosted by protesters (one of whom, Allison Hrabar, we learned later is a DOJ employee); second, her home was picketed by protesters who used a bullhorn to chant “no justice, no sleep”, and audio of crying babies, which I’m sure her neighbors appreciated.
- Senior Trump advisor, Stephen Miller, accosted and called a “fascist” at a restaurant and his apartment building picketed by chanting protesters.
- Mitch McConnell and Elaine Chao attacked by illegal immigration extremists as they leave a Georgetown University event. Mitch McConnell was again stalked, harassed, and threatened by a mob of anti-ICE protesters as he left a restaurant in Louisville, Kentucky. Among the mob were members of the Democratic Socialists of America, which later bragged about the bullying on Twitter. Among other things, they repeatedly shouted, “We know where you live!”
- Let’s not forget Rand Paul, who was severely beaten by a neighbor while mowing his lawn. Among other injuries, he had five broken ribs and bruises to his lungs.
- Then there was Steve Scalise who was severely wounded and other Republicans shot at while practicing for a baseball game. Two Capitol police were also seriously injured.
I can’t neglect to mention Maxine Waters. She is the current poster girl for incivility on the left. Not only is she not civil herself, she incites incivility – even violence – in others:
Back to my Facebook conversation. In answer to the comment:

I haven’t read about supporters of our President attacking citizens in public, harassing public officials in restaurants or in their homes. Then there are the attacks like the one against the Republican baseball team. And how about the Antifa attacks in Portland last week?
Alan Dershowitz just told a story about a woman on Martha’s Vineyard announcing that if he was at her dinner party, she would stab him in the heart. And AD doesn’t support President Trump – he simply points out the President’s legal powers.
A woman interjected this comment:
My thoughts are that DJT could be key to turning around the national rhetoric by being more civil himself, Xxx Xxxxxxx, so I’m with you on this. The President isn’t very Presidential when he’s name-calling like a 6th Grade boy on the playground. His becoming more grown-up may or may not effect change in the Looney Left, but I could at least stop cringing every time I read that POTUS is tweeting again. “Speak softly but carry a big stick” comes to mind.
My response?
If President Trump doesn’t say the things that he does about his political opponents, the average guy won’t ever hear it, because big media doesn’t report it. That’s the reason why he does it. It’s the only public outlet he has. When he says things about Hillary, or Elizabeth Warren etc, the media HAS to report it!
Don’t be naive. Big media has no intention of playing fair. If President Trump was a “civil” man like GW Bush, he would be hammered just the same as he is today.
Woman responds to me:
I don’t disagree with his calling out his political opponents, but I think most of the time he could be more adult in his method. I think he has the potential to be another Reagan [“Mr. Gorbechav [sic], tear down this wall!”] or even a Churchill-type leader, but when he resorts to name calling, I think he helps sets the uncivil tone we’re hearing today on both sides. I’d like to see him become more Statesman-like.
My reply,
The left has always been uncivil. Remember the Bush presidency? Remember the movie about his assassination, for example? Remember Bush-Hitler? President Trump didn’t invent it. I support his criticism of his political opponents, even when he uses language that I wouldn’t necessarily use myself, and by using Twitter, he makes sure that everybody sees it. People pay attention to President Trump, and many wouldn’t even know who Elizabeth Warren, or Mueller, or Peter Strzok are if he didn’t. Most people aren’t political wonks, you know.
I (finally!) got some support –
Absolutely! The word for the Left’s incivility is “demagoguery.” It’s the Alinsky/Marx tactic of harassing and ridiculing opponents until they are dehumanized (meaning they are fair game for any kind of inhuman treatment). We’re not discussing refined etiquette here; politics is a dirty game.

As I see it, the Left is NOT about to give up their ‘direct action’ against anyone who doesn’t agree with them, it’s a centuries-old tactic. It’s terrorism lite, the definition of terrorism is: ‘The unlawful use of violence and intimidation…in the pursuit of political aims’, and until the intimidation/violence crosses the line it’s staying just this side of unlawful.
The American Left has its roots in the early 20th century Communist and Communist-related exports to here, their use of politically motivated violence is well known (outside of student who went to school in the last 30 years or so) and this is just a continuation. The use of logic to confrontb it is mostly useless as their aim and goal is to destroy the Right, not to enter into philosophical debate. Only way to ensure one’s safety against someone trying to destroy you is to destroy them first, question is do wev have the guts to do it?

The left will not stop. They didn’t stop after the baseball field shooting. No one called out Maxine to tone it down. I don’t think they will stop if one on the right is actually killed. I believe that would just help many of them turn up the volume even more.

Black Mississippi Confederate flag supporter dies after rally when ‘car full of jeering African American men forced him off the road’
A black Mississippi man who often dressed in Confederate regalia to support the state flag has died in a one-car accident.
The Highway Patrol says 49-year-old Anthony Hervey was killed Sunday when the 2005 Ford Explorer he was driving left the roadway and overturned on Mississippi Highway 6 in Lafayette County.
A passenger in Harvey’s car, Arlene Barnum, tells The Associated Press that Hervey swerved and crashed after another vehicle carrying four or five young black men pulled up alongside them, yelling and looking angry.

My mother-in-law told the story of my ex’s brother being bullied all through school. She told him to ignore them and they would go away. It didn’t work. He went into the service, and when he came home on leave, he ran into the same bully who jokingly stole his uniform hat and took off with it. This time they called the sheriff (it was a very tiny town and the sheriff had known both boys all their lives). The sheriff got the hat back and finally put a stop to all the bullying. Sometimes you have to fight back somehow.

Here is an example about not covering things. I googled the situation in the tweet Wee copied about the people who tweeted about Eric Trump’s support being attacked (I didn’t read anything but the tweet so I assume it was all verbal, not physical). Could find nothing on it. I am going to have to go back to that tweet and follow a link.

Maxine Waters is in NOLA at Essence Fest getting her butt kissed by white Rat pols and getting selfies with the usual black, Left muckraking pols. Interesting that the local news, except for a short pic of her arm-in-arm with the aforementioned muckrakers, ignored her speech. Apparently she comes yearly, makes some ghetto speech, and the local press ignores it so it’s nothing nhew.

Is it wrong to be uncivil with folk who literally want us dead? Or when some poster for the nth time says something ignorant about our beliefs, be they political or otherwise?
When I’m uncivil or say more than I should, my conscience always gets naggy and then I stew in regret for days. So, for me, it’s always best to be civil, no matter what.
But every once in a while, ya just gotta let someone have it and suffer conscience consequences plus the subsequent confession and repentance. LIFE!

I watched some of the ABC 2016 election night coverage today. The way they talked about Trump voters is shocking! We are non-college educated, ignorant, non-readers, and racists. We are also the “old” vs the “new”.

Well, the losers let it all hang out election night…just couldn’t help themselves what with their superiority complex and all. They remain losers today and will continue in that mode throughout President Trump’s eight years in office and President Pence’s eight years.

I remain civil despite being mocked and ridiculed, patiently asking leading questions and stating facts with supporting references.
A Facebook friend and I often have sharp disagreements online; one of his other Facebook friends asked why he doesn’t just unfriend me. His response? Because he helps keep me honest.
Satan is the author of confusion and deception, and I have a strong empathy for those tossed about and lost in that storm, having been there myself, so I seek to be a solid rock to which they can cling until they recognize the One True Rock.
