Speaking of fireplaces…. Coming from a small farming/dairy community I’d never been in a wealthy person’s home. A number of families of our acquaintance had relatively nice furniture but it was the Montgomery Ward variety and certainly not from high-end makers or designers.

After moving to Los Angeles and starting to work in the film industry, I began to date an older actor who was quite amused on occasion at my naivete. He liked showing me around and getting my reaction to things. I always tried to keep it muted, of course. Not a good move to let others see how impressed you are.

One evening my friend invited me to join him at a scheduled meeting with a producer to discuss a project they were planning, to be held at the producer’s Beverly Hills home. Walking in the house, I tried not to gape at the two-floor high round entry way with a beautiful table in the center, a huge bouquet of flowers sitting on it. LOL!

We were invited into the den where a suede couch seemed to be taking up almost a whole wall, served wine, batted the breeze a few minutes, and then the producer’s wife invited me into another part of the room (yes, it was that big) by the fireplace so the guys could discuss their project for a short time. I don’t recall what she and I discussed, but she was very nice to me.

I do remember that the room had a lived-in quality and wasn’t for show…it was just the way they lived…with nice paintings, beautiful woods, comfy pillows to lean on, AND that fireplace with andirons and hearth accessories which you would have loved, Colonel.

Right now I’m ready to break out in Streisand’s “The Way We Were.” LOL!

and lastly is this funny one. It sort of went with the spirit of Escher drawings 🙂

At 47, I feel young looking at this picture.

My BFF had her 2 yr old grandson stay with her. He wanted to play dominoes. So she set them up to play. And, he wanted to know what she was doing because that wasn’t the way to do it. So she had him set it up. He built a little tower and then knocked it down. That’s the way he played with his father.

Tip: Pentagon Covering Up Fact That Female Officers Nearly Sank Navy Ship

When it happened I figured it was either blacks or females, or both, responsible, and that we would find out the truth in due time. And yep… I was right. Some people are suited to certain occupations, and some are not. Sad fact, but true. Affirmative action is never a good thing.

The are not. But, unfortunately they have changed the rules to let smaller, weaker types in. Even a 5’6″ man is usually stronger than a 5’6″ woman. I have always said I don’t have a problem as long as they can pass the same exact tests that men have to pass.

“Yes” to your last sentence. I really do not want females in the infantry, though. If citizens are called upon to defend the nation within the borders, then, yes, every man and woman to the barriers…it’s to the death. But in foreign-land ground combat, no. I’ll see if I can articulate why.

Something is lost between males and females if a soldier, sailor, etc. has to treat everyone equally, with no natural protectiveness shown which seems to be inherent in males toward females. We’ve already attacked men enough in our society, having called them “patriarchal” when they are just following their sweet natural tendencies which are necessary in order to properly take care of females and their children who are more vulnerable. And the cries of “mansplaining” and “manspreading” are a symptom of a sick society.

The attitude today is to jettison these valued good instincts in favor of women gaining equality with men ON EVERY LEVEL. IMO, we are not equal. We are complementary. Under the law, and as far as our political rights go, we are equal. The physical differences and body functions, alone, which need to be taken care of are certainly not equal.

Why should men have to turn off their instincts toward women when they are in the military but yet if they have a hard time turning them back on when dealing with civilians be looked at askance. If a man sees a woman fall, is not his natural instinct to help her up? You wouldn’t do that in combat because a person should be able to carry his own load and take care of himself in that regard. Men don’t have a spigot to turn instincts off and then turn on. If the military has to train that natural inclination out of a man, then something of importance goes missing.

While studies show women generally can endure more bodily pain than men, women are obviously the physically weaker of the two. In ground combat, why have any weak links? If a person, male or female, cannot easily carry around 100+ lbs. of equipment while marching through rough terrain in full combat uniform, then it’s an office job for him.

Hopefully, you get the general gist of what I’m trying to say.

That reminds me. When my ex was on a diesel sub, there was a guy who was around 5’4″ tall. He could not stand watch when they were on the surface because the watch had to carry a rifle and when he slung it over his shoulder the way they were supposed to, it touched the deck. He was too short to be on the sub IMO.

Looks like the President will sign an EO on family separation if Congress doesn’t pass immigration legislation. He will then immediately be sued for violating the 9th Circuit Court ruling re Flores vs Reno. Forcing that will put the other side in the position of ripping children from their families, so it may be a good thing.

    Excellent post on Facebook:

Excellent post by one Jim Jones:

This [the family separation at the border thing] is a purposeful media circus being stage-managed by Hollywood. Not sure if everyone’s heard but the DNC Chair is now meeting regularly with a group of directors, writers, and producers (20 to 30 in total) to script and manage media and leverage the skills of Hollywood. Seems to be working well. Schumer has decided to oppose all long-term immigration reform that includes secure borders. He says he is planning to oppose any bill in order to “keep the spotlight on Trump.”

So the cries of the children will be leveraged. One must ask just where the politics end and the loving begins.

One has to take the incongruities in Democratic policy into account. I am pro-choice, but let’s be quite clear: the left has a logically impossible set of beliefs that can’t coexist.

Democrats have wrecked the inner cities and most of the schools, and the black voter is being abused. We have our own kids who are citizens and would LOVE to hear that they might get free college and the nicer accommodation — not to mention status — that the left wants to offer to those who cross our borders illegally and violate the law.

This “Hurricane Kidtrina” travesty is political and it allows the left a massive deflection from the actual news. This ISN’T new — the kid pics were under Obama in 2014 and the left said nothing.

Trump just signed an executive order and we will see what it says.

The media’s greatest power is the power to ignore. Given that the separation policy is not new, it is the media’s focus for a reason. Planned and staged based on the upcoming midterms and dreams of a blue wave.

Kidtrina is an operation. Like “Crossfire Hurricane” but a bit less official. FBI not involved (as far as we know).

The media circus allows the Democrats and the media (same thing, mostly) to ignore much. They are ignoring the on-going exposure of Obama Administration corruption taking place in Congress. The amazing revelations by the DOJ IG on the Hill were ignored. “But the children…”

They ignore WHY the refugees are at our border: the utter failure of leftist banana republics. Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Venezuela, Cuba, and the rest. Every one.

The media is happy to enter U. S.-based facilities to report on crying children. NOT eager to report from Managua or Caracas or the middle of Mexico. Because those crying (and dead) children are not crying about Trump being a meanie. They’re being destroyed by leftism. It is just a matter of how far along the road to ruin their countries are.

The media aren’t reporting that Daniel Ortega has made himself President for Life, appointed his wife as VP, and ordered the entire Nicaraguan middle class to exit Nicaragua immediately. They aren’t reporting that teenaged boys fighting back, armed only with slingshots, are being murdered by Ortega’s military.

In Venezuela the people have 24,000% inflation and a month’s wage at the nationalized and ruined state oil industry buys ONE chicken. If they can find one to buy. The people have finished eating their dogs and cats and have eaten the armadillos and flamingos and moved on to rats. The popular socialism extolled by Bernie is now unmentioned. Venezuela is collapsed. Children are starving by the thousands due to popular socialism. Is the media covering those crying and dying children? Hell no. You won’t have anyone from CNN and MS-NBC or the others reporting live from Caracas or Managua or San Salvador. Too dangerous, and can’t blame Trump.

Thousands of kids disappear on the journey across Mexico to the U. S. border. They are never heard from again. Raped and murdered, taken by child sex traffickers, who knows? But gone. Where’s that reporting? Why do girls 9 and older get fitted with birth control before leaving for the U. S.? Because they are likely to be raped multiple times on the trip.

And at home too, the media fails.

The kids crying in Chicago today are of no interest to Democrats. There are widows and fatherless kids to whom a converted Wal-Mart and three squares a day looks pretty damn good. Remember 9 dead and 46 wounded just this weekend in Chicago, where poor black kids attend schools ruined by Democrats and live in a war zone? Done in by illegal guns in cities where guns are illegal and Democrats have hereditary control. Do we hear about the deaths? No. And we won’t, unless a white cop is the perp.

On this alleged love of children, as soon as the left is done screaming at Trump for yet another fiasco passed down to him, they write a check to PP. Busy exterminating kids. Have to keep those rates up, terminating 60% of black pregnancies in every major city in the country year in and year out.

Lord, what a pack of useless hypocritical Bolsheviks the Democratic Party and their media organs have become.

Things to do when you are bored.
I justvreceived a call from one of the Indian boiler rooms where an operator who could barely speak English starts telling me that “there a case file agains you by IRS in US of America Court”. So I asked him about the case – he tells me I need to give him my name…zeep choad…an azdress. I give him a phony name, phony address (actually the address of the old ATF office) and zeep. He never did ask for the city but were he to put in the street address it wouldn’t match the zeep. He says the line weel go blunk (he went to the Peter Sellars School of Foreign Accents) – and theline goes blunk.
About 20 seconds he comes back and says he has my case file in front of him and I’ve been charged with not paying my income taxes. (I avoided the veye dialect as his pronunciation was tortuous and I don’t even want to try and replicate it. I spent a good five minutes trying to get him to read his script coherently.
About now he’s probably smiling that he’s got it out and I understand, so I throw some poop into the game. I ask him for the IRS case/file number so I can have the accountant who does my taxes call the regional IRS office in NOLA. Dead silence…
After a break someone else comes on, accent just slightly better, and starts rapidfire spitting out how “you will be arrested with a warrant and I weel see you sat your front door as the FBI takes you to jail. I weel see you agin in Federal Court room where we will take your house and put you and your family in jail!” OK, the accent did give him away though the spiel did sound like something a frazzled IRS agent anxious to take off early on a Federal Friday might say.
I let the phone go silent for a minute – nothing from their end but the sounds of dozens of phone clerks making phony calls to other targets. Then I tell him that I’m an ex-cop, I’ve worked with the IRS and know his scam is phoney as hell. He tries to recover, telling me in his best ‘Peter Sellars doing Ghandi’ accent, that he has my information and the police will be at my door soon! I tell him that all of the information I gave him was phony and he used phony information to ‘call up my case’. I hung up ass he assured me the poleece weel be at my door in the morning to uhress me!.
I ate up about ten minutes of his time, ten minutes he didn’t make any money, ten minutes the boiler room just threw out the window. I was sitting on the patio anyway, cool drink in hand, with not much else to do so all in all, nut wasteed thyme.
