It is very interesting to read Wictor’s thoughtful threads. I believe there is cause for optimism, whether or not it is exactly as he believes the background machinations were done.
One thing I disagree with, if i understand him correctly, is “Neither Saudi Arabia nor the US seek domination.” I believe the Saudi’s do seek domination. They are just looking very long term. They are the ones financing the building of mosques in this country. They are looking to dominate by population growth over a number of generations. The US no longer has a replacement population birth rate. It is down to 1.8.
Also I have not read recently about the Saudi’s opinion of the dollar as payment for oil transactions.

So The Beast would like to be the CEO of Facebook?

    😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂

    http://www.businessinsider.com/hillary-clinton-facebook-ceo-2018-5

The former presidential candidate jokingly said she would prefer to be the CEO of Facebook, if she had the choice, according to video obtained by the NTK Network.

Clinton’s remarks came during an on-stage conversation with Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey, at a ceremony where she accepted Harvard University’s prestigious Radcliffe Award. Healey asked Clinton which company she would want to lead as CEO, and Clinton came back with Facebook, with a laugh.

“It’s the biggest news platform in the world,” Clinton said. “Most people in our country get their news, true or not, from Facebook.”

She continued to explain why she believes Facebook plays a crucial role in modern life, and needs to get its act together amid scandals around fake news and user privacy.

“Now Facebook is trying to take on some of the unexpected consequences of their business model, and I for one hope they get it right because it really is critical to our democracy that people get accurate information on which to make decisions,” she said.

This is presented as a “joke” …. yeah sure. What is she saying? Hillary as always gives her demonic thoughts away. She just can’t stop herself from being Hillary.

She must salivate at the idea of all the personal information Mark Zuckerberg has available to him with the tap of his fingertips.

      Hi Stella.

I just came over to post an apology to you for stirring up that trouble and saw this post by you. I had NO intention of causing such a ruckus!

Truth is, I had no idea that Levin had done that to Sundance and was SHOCKED to see it. Please know I am not worried about anyone’s negative comments. What I fear is that I may have ripped a scab off an old wound between Levin and Sundance.

Please accept my apologies, and convey them to Sundance as well, for ANY trouble I may have caused with that post. Honestly, when I saw what Levin had said, I was very angry and didn’t think about possible repercussions here at CTH. Thank you for your posts and please know I stand with you, Sundance, Ad Rem, and CTH 100% over all others. If there is anything I can do(?), I hope you will let me know. I believe you have my personal email address but will check back here just in case you don’t and would like to reach me offline.

I was recuperating from a difficult doctor’s appointment on Friday, and did NOT post anywhere.

Apparently it was about Levin’s doxing of Sundance. I remember reading about that when it happened. It was wrong. I do not care for Levin, and never have.

No problem, I’m just glad it is straightened out. It certainly can get confusing, especially with all the work you do at both sites.

I wonder how many other people thought it was me though. It is somewhat upsetting to have others think I would post something (from the info I can glean) that is so different than my actual beliefs, and then not be able to find the post at the Treehouse to “clear my name” over there. I wonder if I should post my above comment over there?

I thought of changing my name, but I’ve had that name for a few years now, and like the continuity. I would also need to again find one that is different than other people’s names.

Following comments can be difficult. I stopped with the email notifications about posts, and just go back to the day or prior days to look at the actual thread and comment further, otherwise I get confused.

    As we remember the fallen…

George Stevens’ films of World War Two in Europe…if you watch this at YouTube, there’s a fine explanation of the film. Also, you’ll see the sidebar full of similar film offerings…

Please don’t think that I’m judging anyone who thinks differently about fictionalized film and actual war footage. Everyone is obviously different. This is just my opinion and reasoning, but I’m no longer into fictionalized war films and the character dramatizations. It’s really difficult for me to watch them. I used to because that was part of my job, and certainly enjoyed many. Now, however, few, if any of the stars and filmmakers (and I can’t think of a single one except the guys in the recent Clint Eastwood film about terrorism), in today’s movies have been at war or have any real understanding of that kind of inexplicable courage. Sure, actors can act it…but that’s just the point…it’s playacting. Eastwood was at least in the service, though not during wartime.

I have friends and relatives who were in Vietnam and they won’t go see war films. To them, capturing what war is really like is impossible. Fictional films, of necessity, must be paced to entertain…they can’t show the daily boredoms, the flashes of activity, the day after day plodding along.

Even watching actual footage from all the 20th/21st Century wars doesn’t always convey what it’s like because it’s often edited to cull out the truly gruesome. To me, though, if I want to see what the men and women went through in war, actual footage brings it home as nothing else can.

So I was trying to read that update on the Broward county schools Next Door and then I had to leave because the comments thread was making me ready to lose my temper. (So I left before I started a forum fire.) Besides all the popular misconceptions about homeschooling, I really, really wanted to lay into someone who pointed out that people don’t understand the meaning of the word “CAN’T” when it comes to finding a non-public school options. Because they are apparently unaware of private schools or schools run by churches, I guess; the only non-public school option is homeschool.

A lady from my church decided she did not want her child to attend public school. She mentioned in passing that she and her husband had had to make sacrifices to afford to send their son to a small private Christian school. But they had decided to do without whatever they were doing without – she didn’t specify – because they decided their child’s education mattered more than those things. And she, last I knew, was the only one of the couple that worked. He couldn’t, due to many health issues. (That was the other complaint I saw a lot over there, that if you have only one income, you can’t just manage to have anything other than public school.)

I may be reading too much into it, but this person’s “CAN’T” sounded like an excuse and it drove me nuts. As I get older, I notice that people make time and spend money on what matters to them. This is also why I get angry when told that “Some people can’t get a voter ID so we shouldn’t have to make them get one.” Bullcrap. They can make their way to the liquor store or the gas station to cigarettes but not to the BMV to get an ID for an election they weren’t even interested in voting in until the night before Election Day. No, people make time and effort for what matters to them.

The lady from church and her husband spent money on what mattered to them, and I saw that and thought that this was parenting done right. Which is probably why the cry of “Can’t” next door made me so angry.

The other thing I notice, upon further reflection, is that these conversations only ever really go in one way

      1) Premise: public School is bad.
      2) Someone suggests homeschool.
      3) Next person says it’s not fair to say that because some people can’t homeschool.

But I don’t see a lot of comments where anyone talks about how they had made sure to have open dialogue with their child’s public school teachers. If one has to send their child to public school, and really does have no other choice, why don’t they make sure to introduce themselves to the teachers and keep in contact with the administration, and ask to be apprised right away if the child has any behavior problems in class or is struggling to grasp some concept in school? I see a lot of comments about bad public schools, but maybe the schools would have more incentive to straighten up if they knew that parents were invested in their kid’s education and were going to hold the administration responsible for problems (not learning problems, because that’s not always the teacher’s fault, but bullying and issues like that.)

I agree with you that, in most cases, if educating your children well is your first priority, it can be done. You might have to do without something in order to do it, but it can be done. I sent my daughter to pre-school and her first eight years at a Baptist parochial school, and I was a single parent who wasn’t getting child support. My mom helped me some too, but we didn’t have a television, lived in a tiny house I rented from my uncle, made my own clothes, and drove a second-hand beater.

Just imagine if a family gives up their expensive smart phones, cable, and all of the other toys we enjoy today. How much money per month would they save?

‘The Brevity Of Life’ – Poem by Maureen Carey

Life is but a brief paragraph
    in Eternity’s book.

Our moments fly by swifter than the beating thrush of wings.
We race towards an inescapable conclusion
    Knowing of our eventual departure.

Lives become fuller, richer and deeper
When they are lived with a sense of the eternal in mind.
Moments become more precious as we realize our allotted time
    The brevity of our days.

When we live with the realization that life is but a shadow, a vapor,
We appreciate it more and spend it fully.
