    The yearly hurricane panic-mongering season traditionally starts in early April when Dr Gray and his crew release the season’s forecast. The weatherguessers immediately start ramping up the fear factor, usually discussing the upcoming season as pictures of hurricane death and disaster play in the bavckground.
    This year they’ve got a treat – there’s a low in the Caribbean meandering north. It’s a low, not a hurricane, but even as we’re told it’s NOT a hurricane they’rev reminding us that it COULD develop into a monster cyclone that could destroy all life on the Gulf Coast as far inland as their Nielsen rates extend. Pictures of hurricane death and destruction play in the background.
    Now we have to go thru the weekend with these folks telling us the worst case rainfall figures – ominous blobs ugly colors play over the areas where viewers are expected to start filing two-by-two – are going to ‘possibly’ inundate us. Point here is that in the event we do get that rain we’ll be told “See, I told ya”, while if we don’t everyone will be grateful and forget the predictions.
    It’s that time of the year where you watch the weather while you have a drink, it’s the best way to not let these folks get to you. It’s as if they compete for viewer share by seeing just how close to calling the end of the world as they can without doing so. December can’t come soon enough.

    Today’s state flower is Montana – Bitterroot

    A perennial, the bitterroot has an exquisite pink blossom which grows close to the ground & its delicate shadings offer the eye one of the loveliest of wildflowers. In 1894 Montana’s Floral Emblem Association chose the Bitteroot as Montana’s state flower, & in 1895 the Legislature sanctioned the choice. Before long the delicate petals of the bitterroot graced stationery, posters, silverware, and even special sets of double damask Irish linen. The name is derived from the leader of the Lewis and Clark expedition, (Lewisia rediviva). In 1805, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark “discovered” the plant in the western Montana valley that now bears its name.

    Bitterroot has a strong Indian heritage. Montana’s Indians used bitterroot as an important part of their diet. Tribes timed their spring migrations with the blooming of the bitterroot on the gravel river bars & hillsides. Dug, cleaned, & dried, the root provided a lightweight, nutritious supplement to a wild-game diet. At major trading centers, the root was an item of barter & exchange. A sackful commanded a substantial price SUCH AS A HORSE. One ounce of dried root provided sufficient nourishment for a meal, but the plant was seldom eaten raw, for its bitter taste & resultant swelling caused great discomfort. Indian women boiled the root then mixed it with meat or berries. Pulverized & seasoned with deer fat & moss, the cooked root could be molded into patties & carried on hunting expeditions or war parties. Sources: http://montanakids.com/

    I had never seen this beautiful but tough little plant before. Many photos showed it growing out of what looked like just rock! Apparently it was also the 1st take out burger according to the above description. Since the root is so important I merged 2 botanical prints to show all aspects of the plant.

    If you are casually following our CA guv race this is a pro Cox blog, who POTUS endorsed. He runs a lot of non mainstream info on Travis Allen, whom a lot of people still want to vote for. The blogger is a GOP insider, so it worth reading.

      Dave Holmes is an idiot of the highest order. “A traumatized yet sensible child.” Riiiight. I’m trying to remember the last place I heard that a child’s brain isn’t fully developed until they are 20+ and so we can’t hold them responsible for anything they do prior to that age. (Was is college? Or the MSM?) Unless the aforementioned children start crying about gun violence, then they’re the voice of reason.

      Someone send help, I think I might be lost in the Twilight Zone.

        Why is a 16 year old child listened to about gun control, but a 25 year old is a child on their parents insurance, but a 13 year old is a “woman” able to get an abortion without parental approval – but then is the non-approving parents insurance forced to pay for the abortion???? The Twilight Zone is right! And what is even sadder is that many young people today have no ability to reason and use logic to see the problem here!

    Kiddo has a picky and a bit of a sophisticated palate even with peanut butter! His favorite is “white chocolate” and its pretty good.
