Yeah, make me wonder what the voting dorks use as a filter when they vote for pols. Like I said, one local news station did a chart showing NOOLA’s condition when Mitch took office and when he left and it showed the major issues like violent crime were as bad or worse on his last day as they were on his first.

I can’t remember how many millions of dollars Milwaukee is spending on the “The Trolly to NoWhere From Nowhere”. Walker talked about dashing it and then the 2016 election started rolling and I had to stop listening to local radio.

DEcades ago NOLA destroyed its trolly lines in favor of busses. Now we’re cutting busses and spending millions reinstalling the trolly tracks and electrical system to run them.
With all of these improvements it would still take me, we I living in our old house and still working, well over an hour to get the <10 miles to my office by bus.

Morning everyone! Great toys and cartoons today.

In this state flower series the 1st painting of flowers on the state shape is from https://www.greatbigcanvas.com/search/state-flower/

The description and most of the photographs are from http://www.stevensandson.com/blog/us-state-flowers/

The paintings are from various sources. The artists are listed when names are found.

Off to mow the lawn with new riding mower – 1st I’ve had, & I love it. If you ever buy something as large as a riding mower from Home Depot, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER – NEVER have it delivered to your house! The 1st one arrived broken, and it took 5 weeks and many, many hours to get the 750lb dead weight out of the middle of our driveway. Have it delivered to the store, then rent something to get it home if need be.

Hi Stella, don’t know where my prior post went, but here is the state flower of Pennsylvania – Mountain Laurel (Kalmia Latifolia) Just for you Col. Ken 🙂 How lucky you are to live in a place with these beautiful flowers!

Each spring and summer, the woods of Pennsylvania bask in the glow of countless pink Mountain Laurel blossoms. The glorious evergreen plant is the Pennsylvania state flower for good reason: it’s everywhere! The Pennsylvania state flower is actually an evergreen shrub and is a member of the heath family (Ericaceae). This family of plants contains many of our most common and best-known shrubs including huckleberries, blueberries, azaleas, cranberries and rhododendron. It is one of a few broad leaved plants native to Pennsylvania whose leaves are evergreen and do not fall to the ground during the winter months. Gov. Gifford Pinchot (and, according to some accounts, his wife) ultimately chose the Mountain Laurel as the Pennsylvania state flower, and signed the bill into law on May 5, 1933.

I had never seen these flowers or buds close-up before. I love it! It looks like it belongs in a fairy tale or Dr. Seuss book. 🙂

I love the quote that Sundance used in his post about this:

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself.”

“For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.” ~ Marcus Tullius Cicero

    Just issued by White House:

    THE WHITE HOUSE
    Office of the Press Secretary
    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
    MAY 21, 2018

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE VIOLENT ANIMALS OF MS-13
WHAT: The violent animals of MS-13 have committed heinous, violent attacks in communities across America.
Too many innocent Americans have fallen victim to the unthinkable violence of MS-13’s animals.
At the State of the Union in January 2018, President Trump brought as his guests Elizabeth Alvarado, Robert Mickens, Evelyn Rodriguez, and Freddy Cuevas, the parents of Nisa Mickens and Kayla Cuevas. Police believe these young girls were chased down and brutally murdered by MS-13 gang members on Long Island, New York, in 2016. Suffolk County Police Commissioner stated that the “murders show a level of brutality that is close to unmatched.”
In Maryland, MS-13’s animals are accused of stabbing a man more than 100 times and then decapitating him, dismembering him, and ripping his heart out of his body. Police believe MS-13 members in Maryland also savagely beat a 15-year-old human trafficking victim. The MS-13 animals used a bat and took turns beating her nearly 30 times in total.
In Houston, Texas, two MS-13 members were charged after kidnapping and sexually assaulting one girl and murdering another. The two MS-13 animals laughed, smiled, and waved for cameras in court as they faced the charges.
New York communities have suffered tremendously from the abhorrent violence of MS-13. Nearly 40 percent of all murders in Suffolk County, New York between January 2016 and June 2017 were tied to MS-13.
In January 2017, MS-13 members were charged with killing and hacking up a teenager in Nassau County. MS-13’s animals reportedly saw the murder as a way to boost their standing in the gang. In April 2017, police believe four young men were brutally murdered by MS-13 animals on Long Island. One victim was a young man in town visiting family during an Easter week vacation. Just last month, in April 2018, MS-13 reportedly called for its members on Long Island to kill a cop for the sake of making a statement.
WHY: MS-13 is a transnational gang which follows the motto of “kill, rape, control” by committing shocking acts of violence in an attempt to instill fear and gain control.
MS-13 is a transnational gang that has brought violence, fear, and suffering to American communities. MS-13, short for Mara Salvatrucha, commits shocking acts of violence to instill fear, including machete attacks, executions, gang rape, human trafficking, and more. In their motto, the animals of MS-13 make clear their goal is to “kill, rape, control.” The gang has more than 10,000 members in the United States spreading violence and suffering.
Recent investigations have revealed MS-13 gang leaders based in El Salvador have been sending representatives into the United States illegally to connect the leaders with local gang members. These foreign-based gang leaders direct local members to become even more violent in an effort to control more territory.
President Trump’s entire Administration is working tirelessly to bring these violent animals to justice.

Good morning all! Kiddo went back to preschool today. He got all his homework finished so he was ready mostly. Still not pain free and waking up at night, but better. Eating is just slightly better in quantity but he cries after an actual complete meal. Still have to graze then. No apnea that I see, just a little snoring since he is only 10 days postop. Ill know how he feels if he needs a nap this afternoon. ENT does not do postop follow ups which is funny. He does see allergy tomorrow so at least he is getting an eval from someone who knows him.
Its a gangbuster news week again. Happy trails everyone!

No. Jack is different. He has actually talked to some of us (including me) by telephone. That was when he wrote “If I Had A Son” about the George Zimmerman trial. CTH is mentioned liberally in his book. He sent all of us signed copies.

By 2009, Sundance felt most at home at Hillbuzz, an unorthodox and oddly conservative blog overseen by the eccentric Hillary Clinton supporter, the openly gay Kevin Dujan. For Stella, a Detroit-area grandma and IT professional, this proved to be a hospitable watering hole until that “terrible Saturday in November, 2010.” Explains Sharon, a sixty-something farmer’s daughter from Montana, “Dujan went weird on us.” He started insulting his visitors, many of whom had been supportive with praise and money. After some harsh words, visitors like Sharon and Stella found themselves being driven way or even formally “banned.” Stella remembers being “horrified at the real possibility that we would be separated from our friends forever.”
By this time, though, the collective had made enough email contacts to regroup at a Lucianne.com side room called “the Connection.” There they talked among themselves– Sundance, Ytz4mee, Sharon, Stella, Finch, WeeWeed, Bijou, Garnette, Menagerie, Ad Rem—and concluded they were ready for something more. “I was tired of being nice,” says Ytz4mee, a full time military spouse and mother of four. “We needed a space where we could be ourselves and teach others how to deconstruct the mainstream media narrative.” And so, in February 2011, the blogging collective known as “The Conservative Treehouse” found a cyber home all its own.
Like Sundance, all the “Treepers” can define with some precision the moment when they too switched from passive witness to active participant in the life of the republic. For a few, the transition was even more dramatic as they morphed, like Ytz4mee, from “raving socialist” to stalwart constitutionalist. But none of the eight “admins” who run the site, Sundance included, ever expected that one day they would be standing, metaphorically at least, where tank man stood.
They have stared down a powerful hydra-headed force that the mainstream media, out of fear or ideological complicity, refuse even to acknowledge. “We Ain’t Backing Down,” Sundance headlined a post in bold red letters after the opposition began to pound them. “Get That Through Your Thick Skulls.” It was Ytz4mee who first labeled this force “the black grievance industry,” shorthanded by the Treepers to “BGI.” The BGI is not as scary as the Chinese Army, but if the Treepers are just about all that stands between you and it, the BGI can be pretty damn frightening. Those with doubts need only ask the family of the man whose rights the Treepers have spent more than a year defending, the besieged “white Hispanic,” George Michael Zimmerman. The Zimmermans will put those doubts to rest.

What fun to be in Cashill’s investigative book! The only book in which I’ve ever been included was during my leftie days and it’s downright embarrassing to read the progressive blather I was putting out.

Which of Sundance’s posts first caught my eye or how CTH was discovered in the first place I don’t know. But I was reading there during the Zimmerman miscarriage of justice and the Ferguson mess.

An answer to the question many of us have asked: “Why do they build houses in the path of a volcano lava flow?”

A Housing Boom, Then a Volcanic Eruption (Wall Street Journal)

    https://outline.com/E7twaL

The destruction caused in the early 1990s cost private insurers millions of dollars, prompting them to stop insuring property in the most vulnerable areas, called Lava Flow Hazard Zones 1 and 2. The market had efficiently determined that there was too much risk in living close to Kilauea. Had that thinking prevailed, the current eruption might have done far less damage.

Unfortunately, the Hawaii state government stepped in. In 1991 the legislature created the nonprofit Hawaii Property Insurance Association, which provides policies to people who can’t buy them on the market. But private insurers are forced to join the HPIA as a condition of doing business in the state. They split the HPIA’s expenses, profits and losses in proportion to their market share. In essence, Hawaii law requires all private insurers to pool their resources to subsidize policies in Lava Zones 1 and 2.

Ordinarily, people would be hesitant to build homes in a place that’s too hazardous to insure, but here the Legislature’s actions created incentives. The result was a housing boom on the edge of an active volcano. By 2008 there were more than 2,400 HPIA policies in the area, providing more than $700 million of insurance to the highest-risk lava zones in Hawaii…

Have to say I don’t feel sorry for the insurance companies. If management didn’t stand up for the principles of freedom and liberty but just went along because they thought they could survive in a socialist climate and still rake in the dough, tough, buds, if they’re stuck or about to go bankrupt!

And the homeowners are selfish, taking advantage of a captive audience because it benefits their egotistical dreams. PC wins the day.

There have been only two Republican governors since statehood in 1959. So Hawaii has generally been either prog light or prog full-on. Like California, Oregon and Washington, Hawaii’s citizens will likely not reject socialism now that it is entrenched and benefiting the Gimmies of society.

“Unfortunately, the Hawaii state government stepped in.”

Well at least I know the answer to the “Who would be that stupid-” question, so thanks for posting.

Something isn’t right in Hawaii. I was reading tonight -trying to catch up on my reading, actually – a Diabetes Forecast magazine from a couple of month ago. Apparently, thanks to some blathering do-gooder diabetic down there, if I understood the story correctly, Diabetics are reimbursed for their supplies in Hawaii.

I will be the first to tell you that the price of diabetic supplies is outrageous and uncalled for, but I’m not okay with the idea that it’s the job of the rest of the state to foot the bill.

Something is very, very wrong down there. Between this story, and the Diabetes story, and that idiot who announced an incoming nuclear warhead was incoming earlier this year because they “felt unsafe,”…I really wonder about that state.

I take the story as a metaphor, even though it doesn’t meet the strict meaning of the term. When someone can walk into your country, enter your house, take your gun, your hat, and your clothes and the authorities aren’t allowed to arrest him—that’s not a metaphor for losing your identity, your home, and your country.

My Aunt owned a ranch down near Nogales AZ. just off I-19. A beautiful lush place with large hacienda wrapping around a garden and swimming pool, with stables and out buildings and several acres of vegetable truck farm plus several hundred acres of grazing land. On my last visit I saw she kept rifles by every entrance and hand guns about the house. When she went outside she tucked a .45 behind her back. Crossing the ranch the illegals would tear up the truck garden’s vegetables or melons like a swarm of locusts. The week before I got there she found a dead guy in her swimming pool. She has shuttered the house and moved into Tucson.

    Suggestion to school security problem:

There is a simple solution that would likely prevent these tragedies from happening. Trained Sentry Dogs and armed handlers.

People have a visceral fear of being attacked by a trained dog, so they likely wouldn’t even attempt something at a school or place of work where these are on site, and appropriate signs indicate their presence.

I’ve heard the argument that they’d just shoot the dog, and certainly that could happen. But they need to be a pretty good shot to hit a fast moving target coming at them, and have excellent and quick reactions in order to do so. And they would be distracted from shooting innocent people while dealing with the dog, which would allow the handler to engage them and neutralize the threat.

A simple solution that politicians will never get.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.

  21. This is good. Rap evolved. And the end is a great twist.

Rhymesayers Entertainment and Strange Famous Records are the new goodness.

Rap is good. Popular rap sucks. Rap is such an incredibly useful art. Atmosphere, Sage Francis, Aesop Rock, Brother Ali — they all use it like it’s art. So did De La Soul and Rakim.
