495M was a remarkable wolf. At the time of his capture for collaring, he was the largest wolf ever recorded in Yellowstone, weighing in at 143 lbs. The researchers joked that they had darted a bear instead of a wolf because of his immense size. As the alpha male of Mollie’s Pack, 495M also displayed immense boldness. The hardy pack inhabited Pelican Valley in the park’s interior and regularly hunted bison instead of elk—no easy feat even for a wolf. And 495M at age 9—a noteworthy age for a wolf as most die at 4 or 5—still took bison down this year.

I see these pictures of noble, strong and dedicated dogs and one of mine is trying to lick a piece of cheese out of the mouth of another.

A couple of days ago I was woken by Grinner tapping her nails on the metal footboard of my bed, I was still feigning sleep when the small one started digging right by my ear. I was still feigning sleep because once I open my eyes all bets are off.

So the ding ding dinging on the footboard wasn’t working, the digging next to my head wasn’t working so the small dog Dean, (now this is something only small dog owners might appreciate) decided to let her displeasure be known by letting out one single shrill bark squeal right in my ear.

      Me – 😳

I know the feeling. For some reason the pit/lab mix believes the day starts for all as soon as the first slivers of light filter through the shutters. The terrier/spring mix, his soulmate, believes likewise but also goes from dead asleep to Waring blender on ‘destroy’ in the blink of an eye.
To keep Czarina from grabbing the Chinese AKC Cookbook I get up, go close the bedroom door and finish sleeping in the recliner. I get about 30 minutes of strained sleep before one or the other bounces off of me. I usually just get up, make coffee and resign myself to an afternoon nap.

I really don’t mind early morning, I like them, but the ting, ting, ting, digging by my head then the blood curdling yelp right in my ear was a bit much even for my dogs!

Lied straight to my face. Told me that he took something straight from a WI Law. I said Hmmmm, he said it was exactly as the ORC (or something like that) had it written, that it was the wording from the actual law.

I said I never read that law not one word of it but I know that you haven’t reproduced it here verbatim.

                  He said that he did.

                  😐

Pull it up on your computer said I.

Murmuring amongst the people there. (Because I was being rude.

                  Hmmm… Wrong day ash*les.

I pointed out in a very simple way why what he was stated could not possibly be true.

His response was to tell me that I did not understand how attorneys used the word “alleging”.

                  😜

So I very calmly said that he was wrong and that alleging would be deemed prejudicial written within a law like he claimed the law was written and it had nothing to do with subjectivity it has has a very simple definition. So simple even a dullard can understand it 😎.

                  He was not amused.

10 to one I’m going to be talked about for being an ole meanie.

It pays to have a dog who wants to be nowhere near the bed. Our Shih Tzu was afraid to get on the bed and if you picked him up acting like you were going to put him there, he’d start trembling. The vet thought the phobia was perhaps because his former owner reprimanded him severely as a puppy for getting on the bed. And that makes sense because the guy (actually it was his wife’s dog) hated the dog, insisting he be given away and that’s how we got him.

Me? I would have gotten rid of the husband.

        • Mine won’t sleep in the bed. She loves her crate next to the bed, and as long as we are in bed, she is in her crate. She’s the first dog I ever crate-trained, and i highly recommend it! We don’t ever use the latch, she knows how to open it from the inside with her tongue! She’s a clever girl.

our lady dachs is a rescue, and she has slept in the bed with us from day one that she came here to be with us forever. Then, I rescued an abandoned puppy and brought him home at 5 weeks old, so he never knew anything other than being mothered by the dachs and loved by all family members, like a baby….he was immediately comfortable in a crate next to our bed, as long as everyone was in the same room….holds true today after a couple of years…when he is sleepy, he just goes and gets into his crate and curls up for sleep. Funny thing is, he is a much larger Australian Cattle Dog, but he is beta to the dachs alpha…gets more apparent daily as he shows innate pack dog behavior toward deferring to her in eating and even going out the doggie door. he won’t start eating from his bowl until the lady has finished

On the same thread…we go back a year and you might remember one of our dogs accidentally (Czarina says that it was anything but accidental) broke her leg. Then last week we’re watching the news and up pops a story about a dog that ‘accidentally’ shot its owner: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/dog-shoots-owner-richard-remme-balew-fort-dodge-iowa-a8346231.html

The story just has to include the fact that the shootin’ dog’s (don’t get ahead of me here) is a pitbull/lab mix AND is in her least favorite dog color – brindle. Suddenly her pilab paranoia takes on a more sinister bent. Now we have a sud-species of malevolent mutt out offing their people – using firearms no less. Wonder what Schumer’s dog thinks?

There does seem to be a minor trend in doggie gun violence – at least six, not including the latest one, have been reported to pop a cap in they ownerses buttses: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2015/10/27/a-dog-shoots-a-person-almost-every-year-in-america/?utm_term=.75c70297eb98
So if your dog starts to read Guns and Ammo or joins the NRA you might wanna consider getting your own CCW.

The Office of Net Assessment paid Stefan Halper…why?
    By Clarice Feldman

Stefan Halper, the dual U.S.-U.K. citizen who reached out to Trump campaign aides George Papadopoulos and Carter Page, is the international man of mystery when it comes to the origins of the FBI counterintelligence probe of the Trump campaign and presidency. From public records, we know he was receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars a year from the federal government national security apparatus.
