Just in case you thought that the state of Louisiana couldn’t get any more stupider…they surprise you.
Looking at a $-billionish budget daffycit the Legislature was running around trying to find a way out…what to do…what to do….
They could cut that earmark stuff back…they could reimpose those taxes they cut this election year…they could stop those rediculous tax breaks that allow multibillion dollar companies to set up here and pay bupkis…what to do.
US Supreme Court to the rescue! They ruled that sports betting is legal so the Legislature immediately starts to work on a bill to bring sports betting into Louisiana casinos – VIOLA!, an answer to their prayers!
Forgetting for a minute the huge fiasco of riverboat gambling that cost theb state untold millions, screwed hundreds of investors out of more millions and landed a governor in the Federal clink. Forgetting for a minute that gambling was originally brought in as a fix-it for education, they promised alllllll of the gambling profits would go solely to education while they actually went into the black-hole general fund and education is still underfunded and crap. Forgetting that video poker – there are machines everywhere – was supposed to….you get the idea.
So, in a state where cigarette and booze taxes stay high to help fund the medical programs (again, go figure) surely one more gambling option will save the state from centuries of ongoing bad fiscal decisions. MORE GAMBLING!

Since it’s late 15th century, apparently it is a long-time trend. As you can see, it is astronomical as well as astrological.

Below this is the great clock face in blue and gold inside a fixed circle of marble engraved with the 24 hours of the day in Roman numerals. A golden pointer with an image of the sun moves round this circle and indicates the hour of the day. Within the marble circle beneath the sun pointer are the signs of the zodiac in gold (these are original and date from the 1490s), which revolve slightly more slowly than the pointer to show the position of the sun in the zodiac. In the middle of the clockface is the earth (in the centre) and the moon, which revolves to show its phases, surrounded by stars which are fixed in position. The background is of blue enamel. The smaller blue circles in the four corners are not now used.

      • That’s a good point. I’m not into astrology at all, or Buddha, for that matter, but what the Taliban did was infuriating, but normal in human history.

I suppose the Conquistadors did that in central and South America to their evil religions, their super evil religions. Good. I’m glad they did that. Just like the various Crusades.

They are the top two spots in “my favorite wars”. William Wallace’s is three. Our war for independence is four.

I can’t say I would mind if all the mosques and minarets were gone from the earth. Except maybe as photographs.

I am all for freedom of religion. If you worship at a mosque, that is okay with me.

Our recent new relationship with Saudi Arabia proves to me that not all Moslems are evil, even though I believe that they are misguided, and that Islam is not a religion.

Generally, I think we should approach these things with indifference, if not love.

Chuck Missler (R.I.P.) thought perhaps the modern Zodiac is a corruption of the truth, that they are indeed Biblical signs in the heavens.
I don’t remember all of them, but two are obvious:
Leo – The Lion of the tribe of Judah
      Virgo – The Virgin Mary

Imagine the prayers that surround Donald Trump. Prayers of the faithful Christians and Jews must echo through the heavens.

We ask you Lord to place your crown of thorns around President Trump and all those working along side him, we ask that you place your precious blood around him and within him and that you confound his enemies and all those who wish to harm him, America and people of good will. We ask for eyes to see clearly, hands to do your work, mouths to speak your words, hearts to love purely, we ask for the grace to get out of the way. In Jesus name, Amen.

Good idea. Our son didn’t, and he was sued for $3 million or something, as well a separate suit against the city. They desperately wanted to settle, and need his cooperation to settle his named part as well. He wouldn’t. He said, “Not one dime, because if the guy is paid a dime it suggests I did something wrong. And I didn’t.”

He won all around. And saved the city whatever it was they were willing to pay to settle.

I’d rather be homelerss than LEA in Portland, they should be embarassed to put on the bag. We arrest heroin dealers/users, they are just short of enabling them – I see the number of heroin/opiate ODs spiked after the city sent its PD to those prog ‘understanding’ classes. Then again that’s why they’re terer and we’re here.

Good he stuck it out – city officials will throw your cop ass under a train in a heartbeat if they see just one vote in doing so. We used to laugh at how the city pols would be so solicitous to the whiners: we couldn’t carry metal flashlights with over 3 batteries as the BGI was worried we would hit a perp with on yet we were allowed to carry the steel Asp baton. On the other hand they’d hire us off duty when their daughters had a party to keep the ‘undersireables’ from bothering them. Glad to be done with it.

I believe she is a police officer who was off duty. Looks like she put a pretty big hole in him square in the lower right chest. Kicked his gun away, got control of the gun, flipped him on his chest, doesn’t look like the bullet exited so likely a hollow point. Shot at close range with no warning or chance for him to get innocent bystanders in the way.

        Well done.

That’s what I said, normal training is two to the chest, one to the head, this lady was fully aware of everything going on around her and very in control, she put one in his chest and realized that was enough and had the presence of mind to rein in her adrenaline and stopped with one shot which was all that was needed.

And we have a group of narcotics officers whe are being raked over the coals by the BGI for being too rough in apprehending a HEROIN dealer who, when confronted, fought with the arresting officers, jumped back into his car, rammed two police cars, crashed, jumped from his car, vaulted fences, ran through back yards and, when surrounded by officers, fought again while they tried to subdue and cuff him.
He died – it looks like it wasn’t his asthma – from what I hear offline they struggled with him mightily on the groung trying to cuff him. He fought most likely out of desperation as he knew he had a healthy amount of heroin on him and was going to prison for life without probation or parole, why not go out hard. One or more of the officers kneeled on his back to stop him for flailing around and it appears one of their knees slipped onto his neck and that caused his death.
The BGI has come out in full force, the family of the HEROIN dealer is all over TV with blown-up pictures of him dressed all un-HEROIN-salesman-like. We’re beinmg told non-stop by the narrative spinners that he was a good boy, a great son, a stand-up young man and even Fox news is droppping the HEROIN dealer story. One down, a sh*tload more to go, kill ’em or lock ’em ALL up for life and throw away the key.
BTW, the verry NEXT story on the news after whitewashing this HEROIN dealer was about the death rate nationally/locally from illegal opiate abuse.

The man would be alive if he didn’t run, if he didn’t fight, if he didn’t do heroin, I’m sure this is what the family is yelling about, warning others not to take the path of their wayward family member.

He was a known heroin dealer and under investigation by the narc department. They knew he was armed, they didn’t shoot at him when he rammed them…twice. They chased him over fences and thru yards and didn’t tase him. The newer, kinder, gentler police department – in the old days we’d have lit his death-dealing ass up the first time he rammed us.

The SO’s made plans to confront the illegal acts of outside professional whiners being brought in to protest. They usually park illegally in a couple of spaces that impede traffic so the parish has clearly overmarked those spaces, warning violators they’ll be ticketed/towed. I.m betting instate cars will be ticketed and out-of-state cars towed. It’shard to get tickets from other-state cars collected but if you tow ’em, even if they’re out-of-staters who’ve rented xars locally, it’s much easier – and more profitable.
All of the laws regarding public behaviors will be followed to the tee, no more no less.

I made a new dish for lunch (also for the next couple of meals). It is called Lomo Saltado, or Peruvian Steak stir fry with onions and tomatoes. The meat, in strips, is marinated in a couple of TB of soy sauce, cumin, salt and pepper for a brief time, then browned. Remove meat from pan, then cook red onion in 1/2″ half rings, then add garlic and jalapeno (without seeds), red wine vinegar and more soy sauce and cook for a half minute or so, add meat back in with a bunch of cherry tomatoes halved. Really tasty; I had it with a baked potato, but apparently they serve it in Peru over french fried potatoes. I used top round steak, cut across the grain, although you could upgrade.

They should makr great pickled jalapenos, Mexican pickled carrots and cooked into Mexican dishes for folks that don’t like the ‘ouch’. Might work in the Saltado if you are trying to lower the heat.

In one of the earlier segments, two of her friends talk about when Billy Graham came to England to preach, and they went to see him. One of the women said that she could feel the presence of God there in the arena. The Queen invited him to Windsor Castle and apparently had a long conversation with him.

Growth hormone is made while you sleep and the apnea/poor sleep interrupted his progress. Just so you guys understand, he went from 93% on growth charts to 70% and weight from 60% to 32% over the past year. He has not gained weight for about 9 months. If he doesnt eat better as he heals, Im going to have to get him a dietary consult.
Otherwise he is talking, trying to play, and watching cartoons. We have to go out tomorrow for first time, so Ill get an idea how activity tolerant he really is.

    • Poor little guy. That’s just rough. Maybe some high fat yogurt or pudding would help him. And you can add butter and whipping cream to his foods. Those are things nutritionists try to keep weight on kids. Along with the liquid protein drinks. I know they are gross, but maybe using them as the base for smoothies would help the flavor.

When he woke up I got a greek yogurt in him. He likes the thicker ones and I lije the protein. Funny though he does not like pudding or jello. He was low blood sugar when he woke up. After that he ate green beans and some chicken, not too much. Im going to wait just a bit and get some ice cream in him.
Im tenmpted to give him heavy cream and milk with his instant breakfast. I talked to the ent rn and they werent any help. So you all are my sounding board! 😘

Not to make lite of this, but I can’t help because my son never refused food. I took him to the doctor once when he was a baby because he was running a fever and was obviously sick. Of course, the doctor assumed he wasn’t eating or playing. Nope. He was sick, but eating and playing like normal.

        • I’m glad he’s eating some foods. Probably as swallowing becomes less uncomfortable, his eating choices will expand. If you can get avocados and sweet potatoes blended in his foods, those have good calories, too. Praying he starts getting his appetite back very soon. 🙏🏻

    lilbirdee12’s prayer:

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
