    “Assassin Spider”

Note by NocturnalSea, artist: this is a real animal, not one of my speculative pieces.

Assassin spiders are a specialized group that feed primarily on other spiders using enormous chelicerae that keep prey safely away from the predators body. To prevent their fangs from dragging on the ground, the front part of an assassin spider’s cephalothorax is raised up, creating a “head” on the end of a “neck”. Some (family Mecysmaucheniidae) have stout, barrel-like necks while others, like Eriauchenius gracilicollis pictured here, have thin, rather startling giraffe-type necks (family Archaeidae).

Assassin spiders’ wide distribution in South Africa, Australia, Madagascar, southern South America and New Zealand indicates that they are a Gondwana group– that is, organisms that evolved on the ancient southern continent of Gondwana and “rode” to their current locations upon the different landmasses that broke out of it during tectonic shifting.

  2. Gray is so loud. He just came back. I thought he was gone three weeks ago.

Mow! MOOOW! Mroow! MROWW! He’s doing it right now. Every half-second.

He’s not feral, either. I talk back to him when I’m out there, and he comes right up to me and lets me pet his face, and even pick him up and give him lovins for about 8 seconds. He’s healthy, too.

But man, oh man! It’s loud. Right now I can hear him outside my window.

And yeah, I named him Gray. Because he’s gray.

Tripod is also named for a reason.

    • I did that once. I googled and found a picture of my Lyme disease. An hour after pulling a tiny tick off the inside of my thigh, right up next to the family jewels, I had a half-softball-sized lump, and some serious necrosis in the middle. I found a pic on WebMD that matched what was on my leg, and growing fast, so I went to the E.R., and said, “Hey, I just contracted Lyme disease. Whaddaya got for that?” Then I had five interns looking at my junk. Not a fun day. All because I wanted to find some morel mushrooms.

Got charged $1,100.00, in an empty E.R., for self-diagnosing Lyme disease.

They gave me a one-inch long tube of steroid ointment. I don’t go mushroom hunting any more. It just costs too much.

Saudi Arabia pledges to support oil markets after Iran sanctions

    https://www.marketwatch.com/story/saudi-arabia-pledges-to-support-oil-markets-after-iran-sanctions-2018-05-09

Saudi Arabia pledged to help stabilize global oil markets in the wake of the Trump administration’s decision Tuesday to reinstate economic sanctions on Iran, a move that could eventually deprive world markets of a significant chunk of supply.

President Donald Trump said Tuesday he was pulling out of a multilateral deal that removed sanctions on Tehran in exchange for Iran abandoning its nuclear ambitions. Washington indicated new U.S. sanctions would limit Iranian exports of crude, although officials didn’t provide specifics.

I watched reporters and commenters make fun of Melania’s accent today during her White House speech.

Just a quick reminder for you idiots:

    • Melanija Knavs was born in Yugoslavia under communism
    • She was raised in a tiny apartment by her working-class communist parents
    • As a teen, she was given a work-visa to model outside of the communist dictatorship
    • She worked as a model around the world, eventually breaking into the European fashion scene after the Berlin Wall fell
    • She emigrated to the US in 1996 on a ‘Genius Visa’
    • She speaks six languages: English, French, Italian, German, Slovene and Serbo-Croatian
    • Melania is the second-ever First Lady to be born outside the United States

So before you make a joke about her, just remember: Melania Trump has had a tougher life than you.
She is an American success story.
And unequivocally one of the most accomplished First Ladies in modern history.

    https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/retired-general-torture-worked-on-john-mccain-thats-why-they-call-him-songbird-john

Retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney on Thursday referred to Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., as “Songbird John” and said torture worked on the former POW.

McInerney, during an interview on Fox Business Network, was slamming McCain’s refusal to support CIA director nominee Gina Haspel over her past work at the agency involving enhanced interrogation techniques that are considered torture.

“The fact is, is John McCain — it worked on John. That’s why they call him ‘Songbird John,'” McInerney said.

“The fact is those methods can work, and they are effective, as former Vice President Cheney said. And if we have to use them to save a million American lives, we will do whatever we have to,” he continued.

Yesterday, I had long social media conversations with two Somali Muslim gentlemen from Minneapolis, Minnesota. I asked them about their goals for improving Minnesota and how they feel about being an American. I also asked them about the million dollar upgrade at Cedar Riverside public housing that Mayor Jacob Frey promised its majority Somali residents this week. After I was called a racist, a fascist, a bigot, stupid and old, here’s what else they shared with me. Nearly verbatim. Thoughts?

“Get with the program, miss. We are here to stay. We never left our Somali heritage or culture. That’s what America is missing. Please stop forcing us to your ways. You’re old and have very old ideas. Get with the program. I’m trying to have my son to be the first Muslim black governor of the state of Minnesota in next 20 years. He’s gonna run as a Democrat. Oh, and on those upgrades at Cedar Riverside. They better give us those upgrades and changes if the Mayor wants to earn our votes. Or else we can always get another Mayor next time around. You see how being an American works? I told you lady please get with the program because Somalis are the latest addition to black folks.

Why should we assimilate? Do you know how stupid you sound? Guess what? We’re here to stay and will transform America for the better. Get that through your thick, ignorant skull. You need to see a doctor. It’s inevitable that Somalis will be taking over and there isn’t anything you can do about it. Again, what’s wrong with Somalis taking over? It is inevitable! This land doesn’t belong to either of us. It is our time to populate it and rule it. Go back to Europe or wherever you’re from if you don’t like it.”

It was his ” Dick Morris has a safety deposit box? I have a vault. Try me” moment.

Candidate Trump has been lying in wait for a very long time for this moment.

Imagine anyone else having the nuggets to tell Hillary Clinton that she should apologize to Kathy Shelton for what Hillary did to her when Kathy was a child rape victim.

The only reason Bill and Hillary’s victims weren’t seated next to Bill Clinton is that someone in power (I have forgotten who) said the debate simply would not happen if candidate Trump insist that the women be seated in the family & friends area.

Remember Rubio’s face when candidate Trump exposed his money laundering house sale scheme.

Candidate Trump said that Huma would be Hillary’s weakness through Anthony Weiner.

              Accurate.

President Trump said that he knows Oprah’s weakness and she will not run. Oprah said her God does not want her to run.

President Trump said he knows Jon Tester’s weakness.

So far, no one has challenged President Trump to put up or shut up about the secrets he knows about them.

There is a reason for that.

It’s never mean to drive a stake in the heart of evil. President Trump just knew the fullness of the evil long before any of us had a clue as to how deep it goes.

    Another gold nugget:
    (from Sarah Henya)

“Why the NYT is such a shit broadsheet: today’s piece is spun in such a way to make it sound as if the eruption between Iran and Israel is a result of Trump pulling out of the Iran Deal.
NYT: “In the aftermath of the president’s decision on Tuesday, the rhetoric between the two sides has heightened sharply. And while Israel and Iran have been conducting a shadow war in Syria for months under the cover of the civil war there, the conflict has now burst into the open.”
SH: the conflict has been “in the open” since Iran sent a drone laden with explosives across the border from it’s airbase in Syria, a drone Israel shot down, and whose operator and base were taken out by an Israeli air strike. THAT was in early February, therefore Ms. Kershner either isn’t paying attention or, more likely, cannot help but pimp her paper’s anti-Trump agenda, which is that the conflict escalated BECAUSE OF Trump’s Iran Deal withdrawal. In fact, the conflict escalated months earlier.
NYT: “Overnight, Iranian forces fired around 20 rockets into the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights…The rockets were all either intercepted or fell short of their mark…but were nevertheless a significant escalation in Iran’s maneuvers in the Middle East. Though Israel has hit Iranian forces in Syria with a number of deadly airstrikes, Tehran has been restrained in hitting back, until now.”
SH: Horsepucky. Tehran has been hitting Israel for years via Hamas and Hezbollah proxies; this is the first time Iranian forces have directly hit us–there has been NO restraint, only a change of gunmen, starting with the drone operator in February. What IS significant (and glossed over by Ms. Kershner) is that what provoked Iran into a direct rocket-fire-response this week is Israel’s destruction of their heavy missile caches that Iran has been air-lifting into Syria for use against Israel.
NYT: “The tensions between Iran and Israel have been complicated further by Mr. Trump’s pulling out of the nuclear agreement.”
SH: No, they haven’t, you agendized twit — they are the same tensions that have been brewing here ever since Iran began building bases, missile factories and importing Shi’ite armies into Syria.
NYT: “The same day [of Trump’s pull out], Israel put its troops on “high alert,” called up reservists, set up Iron Dome batteries and instructed the authorities in the Golan Heights to prepare public bomb shelters after detecting what it said was irregular activity by Iranian forces.”
SH: Let’s unpack this bundle of false causation and innuendo (not journalism, not even close) — Israel took the actions it did because the Iranians trucked some of their heavy duty missilery out of storage, put them on launch platforms and were readying them to fire at us….it had ZERO to do with Trump or the JCPOA and everything to do with Iran’s humiliation at the hands of Israel flattening their big missile cache and stealing their nuclear-weapons-notes from Tehran–Iran even uttered the word “revenge.” But Ms. Kushner feels compelled to pretzel these facts into its-all-about-Trump. And what is this “…after detecting WHAT IT (Israel) SAID was irregular activity…”?? This language implies that Israel is making a bogus claim.
Of far more interest is the story not told: “Iran has taken advantage of the chaos in Syria to build a substantial military infrastructure there. It has built and trained large militias with thousands of fighters and sent advisers from its Revolutionary Guards Corps to Syrian military bases.” No shit, Isabel — where did the MONEY for all this military endeavor (and the funding of Hamas, Hezbollah and a war in Yemen) come from? Where in the JCPOA are the conditions that Iran not engage in missile building for offensive purposes, not engage in imperialist war ventures outside its borders. This is a theocratic dictatorship run by despots who are stealing the treasury to enrich themselves, colonize their neighbors, aid and abet the ethnic cleansing of Kurds and Sunni Arabs, wage war against Israel and our allies, and the Sunni countries, while their own people go into their 14th year of drought and suffer long-standing economic mismanagement. This is a regime that was on the ropes, facing internal dissent and possible revolution and regime change by its angry populace. But Iran’s recovery (and ability to put down internal dissent) was enabled by your adored and NYT-endorsed Obama, an incompetent lackwit in foreign affairs.
Why is there no story about this, Isabel? Because your ridiculous attempt to blame Trump for a war that has been underway for years, and in the open for months already, is more important to you than telling the truth about what the Iran Deal really did — bring us to the brink of the abyss.”

Which is why no one with any intelligence should pay money to read this drivel. – CORRECT!!!

NYT and other East Coast rags ignored the back-and-forth between Israel and Iran that’s been going on in Syria for years. One of their convenient sheets they’ve thrown over the truth is that Iran’s been using Hezzbollah as a cutout in Lebanon and Syria. Iran’s also had a presence there, be it ‘volunteers’ or otherwise, for years. Y’all remember that sigint center the Syrian rebels captured in October of 2014? Neither does the NYT – but it, among other functions, provided situational awareness for Iran in its Mideast operations including those in Syria and Lebanon.
Forget the truth, the agenda here is ‘dump Trump’ and not preventing Russian/Iranian hegemony in the Levant. Truth is fungible in the pursuit of the traitor’s agenda.

Big news in NOLA today: A young man in the next parish over was under investigation by the parish SO for drug dealing. Officers tried to pull him over but he ran in his car and ended up ramming another vehicle. He bailed, ran thru the neighborhood (jumping multiple fences) but was tackeled by officers. While resisting he had an asthma attack (he has a medical history of it) and died despite attempts by the officers and EMTs to revive him. Police found an ounce of what was strongly suspected to be heroin on him.

A little later on the news the weatherperson did a talk-over as they faded to commercial saying that the air quality due to the heat and light was bad and folks with asthma and bronchitis should avoid certain outside activities.

Guess who emailed the weatherperson and asked if that list of activities one should avoid include running from the police if you’re busted for selling heroin.

We’ve already sprayed three times and still haven’t killed the buggers out yet.

My grandson cracked me up yesterday and asked his PaPa why he was shooting a gun, when he told him he was shooting a copperhead trying to bite him, he said, “well why did you do that for?” His PaPa told him because he didn’t want it biting him or his sister and he said, “well PaPa if it was going to bite me then why didn’t you let me shoot him? Iz pretty sure I could shoot that darn gun.”
PaPa told him he was quite big enough in the britches yet to be shooting and he said, “PaPa I don’t got britches on, I got on shorts.” 🙂

    lilbirdee12’s prayer:

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
