    Stella, that’s the sweetest, most steampunk/cyberpunk bass guitar I’ve ever seen.

    Kudos to the manufacturer, and to Mr. Phillips. I don’t see a flat-head screw anywhere on it.

    Well, my morning just got made. Received one of those calls from a ‘real’ psychic who, if I pressed one, would connect me with clarvoiant who’d tell me amazing things about my life and future.
    So I pressed 1.
    On comes my spirit guide with her spiel. She stops to take a breath….I say: “You know I used to be a psychic too!” “Oh really”, she says guardedly.
    “Yes, I used to be known as the Great Garbanzo but but my skills waned. Now I’m just a has-bean.”
    A short pause followed by a click.

          I think Elizabeth Warren is too busy fabricating a heritage to call anyone right now.

          Dopey acquaintance in my wider circle was whining about Native Americans being used as props i.e. my Black Hawks shirt. I asked him what he found offensive of course he had no answer.

          Then he was rude.

          So….

          He has always said that he is mostly Native American.

          I asked to see his CDIB card and he said he didn’t have one (frankly I don’t think he knew what it was.)

          So I said then I don’t believe that you are even 1/8th Native American.

          Weeping and gnashing of teeth.

          He is 1/16th Native American.

          SMH.

            Funny thing, lovely…my brother-in-law had always assumed he was part Cherokee. That’s what his father told the family. Supposedly his grandfather was Cherokee. The first inkling that this was not true was pretty much ignored–that the family was not on the Cherokee rolls and that tribe keeps very good records. But the family lore continued.

            Last year one of my BIL’s nephews had his whole family DNA tested. Sure enough, not a drop of Native American DNA from ANY tribe…unless being mainly German is a tribe. LOL!

              My ex-husband’s mother deserted the family when he was 5 yrs old, and he and his sister always thought that their mother was half nez perce. I finally was able to track down her genealogy. As far as I can tell, there is not a drop of NA blood anywhere. My daughter would have to have her DNA tested to be sure. There is none in my DNA.

                My great grandmother was supposed to be Cherokee. I have a picture of her and she certainly could be from her looks. My grandfather, her son, has the exact profile of the Indian on the Indian head nickel. My sister did the research and she is listed as white. I am tempted to get my DNA checked but am a little concerned about what they do with it, and also if it is even real.

                  I had mine done. I can tell you that Ancestry matched me to people I know for sure I am related to, and the results re ethnicity were pretty much what I expected.

                    Really. Money was the other part of the equation. But, I am coming into some I wasn’t aware of. I taught school for one year right out of college. I didn’t know there was a retirement account and the little bit of money I invested, I guess, has grown for 50 years. I am surprised SS didn’t find it when I went on SS. Maybe I will use some of it to do this.

            Don’t dis MS tech support until you’ve tried it. I had one lady from India, or Indonesia, whose accent I couldn’t understand, for the life of me, and I had to tell her that. In the politest terms possible. She said, “Sorry, please wait.” and connected me to someone who could speak English, within 15 seconds.

            Microsoft tech support is the best. I’ve never had a bad experience.

            Comcast? I wait for Hades to take them all.

      The minute I saw that I can tell you nursing staff is working hard. Those people dont realize nursing staff used to do a lot of their work, when hospitals didnt all run on minimum staffing.

        The store next to me, which used to be a dilapidated, ugly property, is now a beautiful store selling clothes, handbags, and stuff for men, too. And is very steampunk. I know the owner, and he’d be at home here. I helped three Mexicans place all the floor joists, just for fun. And Modelo.

    Nightly news just had a glowing prog piece on about how the FDA, not having anything more pressing on the bill, ha DEMANDED and received the power to make call chain bars/eateries post the caloric content of their alcoholic drinks on the menu.
    Now I don’t know about y’all but I disagree with the talking head that, when I find out the caloric content of my drink, I’ll be ‘SHOCKED!’. I don’t really go to my bar for a healthful experience, the only thing that shocks me about my drink is how many it takes now to make the day go away. I ain’t lookin’ fer no fairtrade, sustainable, nonexploitated tofu smootie – I’m looking for somethiong that will make Mueller, Feinstein and Louisiana politics a warm, fuzzy and dull cloud somewhere waaaaaay in the back of my mind. Calories be damned.
    As a kicker, at the end, they had a nutritionist on who actually said: “If I put 100 calories of alcohol in one hand and 100 calories of broccoli in the other which one would you pick as the healthy choice?”. Define health…
