I read in LI that McCain is writing his memoirs. Stabbing us in the back to the very end. I wonder, considering the state of his health, if it is really he who is writing this “memoir”. Why doesn’t he do us all – particularly the state he is not representing at the moment – and retire now?

‘Interfered’ is too weak of a word – torpedoed is more like it. Then again Kissinger and Nixon felt that the sacrifice of the POWs was a small price to pay for a peace accord and our being able to get on with ‘opening’ China and ending a war we were afraid to fight.
I include China as many people had investment interests in China spinning up to the world’s manufacturing center. Not only were there more than a few VN Era POWs in Chinese hands, dead or alive, but there were still many questions about POWs in Chinese hands left over from the Korean War – the Chinese basically took over control of US POWs once they entered the war.
There were POW camps right on the Chinese border on the NK side but more than a few US POWs were buried on the Chinese side. It wasn’t until 2003 that the Chinese admitted to that and then only to one POW – it was a touchy issue as was the issue of China and Russia taking US POWs into Russia and China during both the Korean War and Vietnam wars. Best way to deal with it was to just declare everyone dead and gone, dig up a few sets of remains every now and then as a show of good faith and close the book.

The truth about these liars is serious business – but my dil was just hospitalized for a week with diverticulitis, on daily antibiotic IVs at home for another month, and is facing more surgery in the weeks ahead. Except for the first hours, before they got things under control, she was always coherent and able to have conversation, in spite of the seriousness of her condition.

Agree. My daughter had it, but it was a mild case. I imagine it depends on the person and the severity of the condition. If you have a perforation, it could result in peritonitis.

          • Sharon says:

Yes, indeed. While dil was hospitalized, her dearest friend died from exactly that. The friend was already terminal with cancer and because of her weakened condition, it was not possible for her to tolerate the surgery that might have spared her what was a hastened death.

Saw in MN obits yesterday that an acquaintance/brother of dear friends dropped dead of a heart attack at age 70. My neighbor is just in the process of being evaluated for possible treatment – an eruption of mouth cancer (in the roof of his mouth) that manifested very suddenly, messing up his sinuses so that he can hardly hear and making it impossible to wear his dentures, so speaking is very difficult. My SIL (Grant’s sister) was just diagnosed with breast cancer.

We are surrounded by people who are suffering physically. I have empathy for those who are liars and adversaries as well as for those who are family and friends.

Twenty years ago, I had it and I didn’t end up in the hospital, although they said if it didn’t get better, I would need surgery. That always helps me get better fast. I was in agony, but coherent.

So, should I still put kiddo in cub scouts and stay for boy scouts or x scouts or whatever it will be?

NEW YORK (AP) — For 108 years, the Boy Scouts of America’s flagship program has been known simply as the Boy Scouts. With girls soon entering the ranks, the group says that iconic name will change.

The organization on Wednesday announced a new name for its Boy Scouts program: Scouts BSA. The change will take effect next February.

Chief Scout Executive Mike Surbaugh said many possibilities were considered during lengthy and “incredibly fun” deliberations before the new name was chosen.

“We wanted to land on something that evokes the past but also conveys the inclusive nature of the program going forward,” he said. “We’re trying to find the right way to say we’re here for both young men and young women.”

Frankly, Gil, the Scouts is a useless organization now. I wouldn’t bother putting any child of mine in either the Boy or Girl Scouts. Indoctrination is what’s happening moving forward and that began years ago. Anything they teach is tainted by PC and leftist philosophy. Morality is out the window. The skills they teach can be learned elsewhere. The camaraderie they encourage is tainted. Forget ’em.

a scout troop’s success depends totally on the local adult leadership….the national or even regional organization is like the Chamber of Commerce is to businesses…has no serious place in developing youth into respectful and conscientious adults.

The program will overcome this liberal trashing if the local leadership and parents band together for the good of the children rather than the demands of a bunch of selfish, ignorant people who were given a child to raise by God, but insist upon raising it without God in charge.

  16. Looking at the radar, after looking at Wunderground, which is as accurate as CNN.

The thunder sounds beautiful, every one like a little, incredibly complex symphony.

And it’s frequent. Two days ago it was 29 degrees. Yesterday it was 82. Today was nice, too.

I just want lightning pics. And Wunderground is always 3 days wrong. I don’t know why Wunderground can’t, say, have a company specializing in analytics look at their predictions for the last decade or so, and somehow program adjustments into their algorithms. It doesn’t make any sense to me. I’m no meteorologist or programmer, but I know they could do that. Yeah, it’s gonna rain and storm on Friday. By that we mean next Wednesday. If even. Wunderground, and NOAA, and Weather dot com, always exactly three days wrong. Why?

Oh, I wish I had a good stereo mic. The thunder rolling is amazing.

    Love youse, Stellars!

  17. Lightning Camera™. It works well. It does what it says on the tin.

As soon as you open the app, it’s taking pics, at 1/10 second increments, for the last few seconds.

You hit the shutter button, and it lets you select which of the last 60 or so frames you want to save, and deletes the rest. I have pics of lightning. I have 5 pics of one lightning strike.

The app is amazing. I’m sure you could use it for hummingbirds, airplane flyovers, dragonflies, or NASCAR races. It’s best for lightning, though.

    • It’s so easy to snap a pic like this now. I walked two blocks from Chef’s to my place one night and took at least ten like this. It’s best when you have a storm that has the lightning streaking horizontally. Just keep the phone pointed at the sky, and tap the screen after you see lightning. It will be there, somewhere in the last 60 or so pictures. The app records the last 60 or so pics on a loop, like an old 8-track tape. And it works every time.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
