      • A whole lot better. Went to the doc’s appointment yesterday, and have been cleared to go back to work. No more Influenza-A, no more pneumonia. Down to one beer a day from 16 or 20, down to 3 smokes a day from a pack. On a nicotine patch, and a drug called Librium, for alcohol withdrawal, which eases the anxiety and shaking.

My fridge is filled with nothing but healthy foods and juices now.

It’s nice to be able to breathe a full breath again. Also I went and applied for food assistance today. I don’t get angry about it any more when I see some large woman and her brood, with a full grocery cart, overflowing with absolute junk food, pay with her MI Bridge card, and then go out to her Escalade or Tahoe — so I figure, can I get some?

I’m about to get out of kitchen work, and into a trade involving metal and welding. I’ll tell you about it in a week or so after my interview with the company owner.

        Thanks for your prayers, Stellars.

We have a ’34 Chevy in the garage, needs work but then so do we. Neatest thing is it has RUNNING BOARDS! Closest we come to that theseadays are the ‘running bars’ on the Avalanche.
We had running boards on all of our carscwhen I wax a kid – plus those huge pockets on the backs of the front seats and those velvet ropes on the top of the back of the bench front seats that you could grab to help you get up and out.
The steel’s neat too, you slam a door and you know it’s a door. Starter can under the tab on the clutch…hi-lo beam can-switch on the floor…real wood on the doors…combo trunk/mother-in-law seat, real hubcaps, whitewalls (both painted on and add on…….them wuz carz.

my first car, that I bought myself too, was a 1938 Chrysler Royal…paid $75 bucks for it, had belonged to a filling station guy…perfect running condition….but, I had to lower it, put on white walls, seat covers, newer radio, and dual exhaust.
When I was leaving High School, sold it for $150 bucks. Thought I was on the fast track to economic entrepreneurship and wealth…..well, I THOUGHT……….

A partial book review and some personal opinion –

I’ve started reading Washington’s Farewell, by John Avlon.( (c) 2017). Sort of a re-analysis of his Farewell Address or, as the sub-title suggests it, “The Founding Father’s Warning to Future Generations”.

The opening chapters deal with Washington, the person, and setting the context of the times.

There’s nothing new under the sun, including the chaos of thirty years ago, the resignation of Nixon, the impeachment of Clinton, today’s Deep State. The degree of damage delivered varies. Circumstances and causes vary. The amount of current information available certainly varies (and the speed with which that information is disseminated increases the likelihood of disinformation). But the essence of the mess isn’t all that different, and what is being risked is not different: the survival of these United States of America.

In April of 1789, as he was preparing for his first inaugural, he “wrote General Knox, ‘my movements to the chair of government will be accompanied by feelings not unlike those of a culprit who is going to the place of his execution.’ ”

Then this, a couple of pages later,

“Whether he liked it or not, Washington was the glue that held the new nation together. ‘While we had a Washington and his virtues to cement and guard the union, it might be safe,’ Congressman John Vining of Delaware despaired, ‘but when he should leave us, who would inherit his virtues, and possess his influence? Who would remain to embrace and draw to a centre those hearts which the authority of his virtues alone kept in union?’* ”

Then there’s the chapter titled “Hating George Washington”.

The Aurora was a Philadelphia newspaper “…published by Benjamin Franklin grandson, Benjamin Franklin Bache, a onetime administration office-seeker….who never took to heart his grandfather’s admonition that we all must doubt a little bit in our own infallibility.

“The Aurora delighted in personal attacks against the president, with Bache declaring it his mission to ‘destroy undue impressions in favor of Mr. Washington.’ Among the president’s alleged sins were arrogance, stupidity, and a love of monarchy. He was called a lousy general, a lukewarm patriot and an incompetent executive, enthralled with Britain and determined to sell out our revolutionary saviors in France while intentionally undermining the U. S. Constitution.”

One of the Aurora’s correspondents wrote, “If ever a nation was debauched by a man, the American nation has been debauched by WASHINGTON! [caps in the original]. . . Let the history of the federal government instruct mankind that the mask of patriotism may be worn to conceal the foulest designs against the liberties of a people.”

That last sentence could come in handy as a quote regarding what goes on today! But generally speaking, these are just some of the uglies prior to page 60 in the book.

Being a Republic has its own vulnerabilities and uglies, just as being a pure democracy would have.

A good portion of today’s population doesn’t know our history and/or haven’t lived long enough to realize just how chaotic events and plots can be: the corresponding over-reaction to difficult days makes it even more unlikely that clear heads will or can prevail.

*That quote reminds me of another from Bruce Catton’s Civil War: Mr. Lincoln’s Army (on p. 13)

“…the miracle of the spirit which takes thousands of young men, ties them together in strange self-forgetfulness, and enables them to walk steadfastly and without faltering into the certainty of pain and death was wearing very thin. Bickerings and blunderings had sapped its power; where the men went now they went sullenly and only because they must…it would take little more to cause the men to realize that ‘must’ only had force as long as they consented to it.”

I think I’ve said this before, but maybe other people have said it and I adopted it: schools indoctrinate. They don’t teach kids to think. That’s part of the reason people in this country don’t know history. Once you divorce a people from their past, though, you can make them believe anything about their country.

This crap is frightening. Most of DC is out to get Trump, without a doubt.

James Comey’s first interview after being fired will ‘shock the president and his team’: Report

    https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/james-comeys-first-interview-after-being-fired-will-shock-the-president-and-his-team-report

Former FBI Director James Comey’s first media interview after being fired by President Trump last May will “shock the president and his team,” according to a source present at taping.

Comey revealed things in the interview that he had never said before, the source told Axios. The source also said the interview would “certainly add more meat to the charges swirling around Trump.”

In the promo for the interview, which is set to air Sunday, Comey doesn’t say a word, but several questions asked of Comey were revealed, including whether he believes Trump should be impeached and if there was obstruction of justice.

    I broke a liberal today 😃.

First he tried to argue that people who were excited about Trump winning the election were stupid because Trump lost the election by 3 million votes.

I said I believe the candidate who won the popular vote but lost the Electoral College was actually the stupid one. I explained if Trump had to win the popular vote he would have campaigned differently. I said it is silly to think someone is stupid because their candidate did what needed to be done to win the presidency and got the votes that mattered.

Liberal; “Well the Electoral College is stupid and disenfranchises people. My vote only counted for 75% of a vote.”

Me; 😐 “What does that mean?”

Liberal; “Blah blah blah……blah blah blah.”

Me; “I don’t think you understand how the electoral college works.”

Liberal; “Yes I do, it steals part of my vote.”

Me; “So if I am understanding you correctly you believe about 15 cities should determine who is the president of all 50 states. Do you realize some cities have populations bigger than some states and many states would simply lose their voice?”

Liberal; “That’s an ad hominem answer!!!! “ “15 cities!!! Doh ho! You’re just saying that because you heard it somewhere else.”

Me: “I think you are using ad hominem wrong. I’m saying it because it is true. It is verifiable, it’s not an opinion nor an attack.”

Liberal; “Snoops says that isn’t true about a few states determining a popular vote.”

Me; 🤔 “What? Who says it isn’t true?:

    Liberal; “Snoops.”

    Me; 🤔 “Snoops??”

Liberal; “Yeah, Snoops, it is a website that gets to the truth of situations. Snoops. 🤓”

Me; “Wait do you mean Snopes? S… N…O… P… E…S?”

Liberal; (Literally laughing hysterically” Snoops! Snoops?” How did you pronounce it? “

Me; “I pronounced it Snopes because it is pronounced snopes, like hopes and dopes, it is a long o with a silent e on the end.”

Liberal; (Trying to catch his breath because he has a real live Trump supporter who can’t pronounce a single syllable word and people are listening to him make a fool of me the knuckle dragger.) “Snoops, it’s snoops, how did you pronounce it again 😂 !!!”

Me; “First of all Snopes is not a source of information it is a source of disinformation with an extreme liberal bias which you are using to confirm your own biases.”

Liberal; “You can’t even pronounce it.” Snoops is a great source, maybe not as thorough as Wikipedia but it is a really good source.”

    Me; 🙄

I pick up my phone turn the volume up, put “How do you pronounce Snopes?” in the search engine, the search engine takes me to you tube and I play this video.

Liberal: “Well the political guy I listen to pronounces it Snoops.” 😡 Stompy feet.

Me; “You should get better sources and do more thorough research if you are going to try and argue an opinion.”

    Liberal; “Well what about DACA?”

    Me; “What?”

(Seems that there is a change of subject without me being let into the loop.)

Liberal; “What about DACA ? Trump wants to send babies born in the United Sates back to Mexico.”

Me; “You don’t understand what DACA is about, it has nothing to do with children born in the United States it is an unconstitutional program started by Obama that allows Mexican children who entered the United States as minors to remain in the country under certain qualifiers.”

Liberal; “I don’t know everything about DACA but I know enough to know it is racist.”

Me: “You don’t know anything about DACA. Again it has nothing to do with children born in the United States.”

Liberal; “I can’t explain everything about how a car runs but I can still drive one.”

Me; “You know why President Trump is President?”

    Liberal; “Why?”

Now, none of the folks standing around have ever heard me swear before this moment.

    Me; “Because F*ck you.”

Liberal; (Mouth drops open. And he is silenced.)

    Finally I learned his language!!

Through all his histrionics, his mocking me, his laughing at me, his spewing ignorant nonsense, I never once got angry I never once raised my voice.

Anyhow he muttered and said he is never talking to me again because “You’re a mean spirited racist.”

    Me : “That’s ok, because……….. F*ck you.”

PS A friend who was there told me he almost died from holding in his laughter and this person we both know is now afraid of me 😇.

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
