Monday beckons, I’m tired of politics, Russia, Syria and caravans marching under a cloud of cumin…taking a break and will make one huge rice pudding. Chalk up one constructive move to start the week.

Is Obama out of the country? Just asking because when the indictments are unsealed he’s gonna need a non-extradition country domiciling him. LOL! I mean, don’t you have a feeling that something big is just about ready to come out the pipeline? I’m not a tin-foil hat gal in the least but it sure seems justice is going to be rolling down like waters and real soon.
Thank You, Lord!

Lucile, now don’t get your bubble pumped up. The only indictments will be for those minor FBI guys, and that one female. The powers to be (deep state), (girls band club), who ever…does not, will not tolerate their political class going to jail. An example would be Teddy Kennedy, and Prescott Bush.
So just some minor minions, and Sessions will call it a day.
Hey I could be wrong……………

Boston Swan Boat Opening Day is April 14th at 10am
I remember the wonder of feeling that I had walked into a fairy tale when as a little girl my grandmother took me to go on the Swan Boats. 🙂
The Swan Boats:
View showing “swan-dolier” pedal power:
🙂 Our two resident swans, Romeo and Juliet:
Swan Lake Performed Atop (What Else?) Swan Boats:
The Swan Boat story dates back to the 1870’s when Robert Paget, whose descendants continue to operate the business, was granted a boat for hire license by the City of Boston. In 1877, Robert and others introduced a new kind of boat to the waters of the lagoon. With the popularity of the bicycle expanding, he developed a catamaran, which housed a paddle wheel arrangement that was foot-propelled. To cover the captain, Robert suggested a swan. The idea came to him from his familiarity with the opera Lohengrin. The opera is based on a medieval German story in which Lohengrin, a knight of the Grail crosses a river in a boat drawn by a swan to defend the innocence of Princess Elsa. More info can be found at: https://swanboats.com/ You can search for images on the web, even Yelp has over 100 images including 2 wedding parties on the swan boats. Weddings are popular there 🙂
Have a great day everyone! 🙂

Hi Stellarites,
Would you please consider praying for my son Nathaniel & his wife Tara. Their beloved cat, Max, was hit & killed by a car the other day & our family clan is having a hard time adjusting to this loss. It is nearly time for their first anniversary & this is a difficult experience to bear up under. With so many pet lovers here I’m guessing some here might understand this kind of grief.
Max lived in our house before N moved out into a house he bought across the street about a half year before marrying. Max used to come over to our place to visit on occasion after they moved. A few days back I had the pleasure of observing Max in our front yard chasing a young squirrel. They frolicked near our tree & then crossed the street to duel in the neighbor’s yard. I remarked to my family that (both creatures being relatively young) that Max didn’t really seem to know he was a predator & the squirrel didn’t really seem to know it was prey. I’m thankful for this playful memory so near Max’s loss & we are glad that his life was full of joy though cut painfully short. We are thankful that he didn’t really suffer but died nearly instantaneously, as my next door neighbor witnessed the event.
If you are willing please also pray for the young lady driving the car–she was in gushing tears over the accident & though I tried to reassure her that it wasn’t her fault, Max had darted out from under a parked car right into her path (per our neighbor), this young woman seemed burdened with sorrow & perhaps guilt.
Thanks for letting me share about this loss to a community who seems to understand & treasure so many beloved pets.
Blessings to all…

Thanks, Lucille. I’m so thankful that my neighbor across the street didn’t witness things. Another cat was killed a few years back in the same way & she was deeply traumatized as it brought back memories for the death of one of her daughters many years ago (by a hit & run driver). Thanks for praying for my neighbor too for she has those memories as a witness to contend with too. Blessings

Good morning Stellar friends. I’ve been out of touch for a few days, attending a retreat for Catholic women up near the big city. It was a lovely experience, but as always I was glad to get home last night.
I saw this in American Thinker:
https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2018/04/mustsee_tv_sarah_palin_unplugged_competes_with_the_kennedys_the_popes_and_robert_e_lee.html
and so watched the Mark Levin program, “Life, Liberty and Levin.” I gave up listening to Levin back before the elections because he was so virulently anti-Trump. And all he does is rant endlessly. It is a tiresome schtick. But I had heard that his new Fox News show was different, and quite good. He interviews one person for the entire hour. He asks good questions and then shuts up and lets the guest answer fully (I frequently scream at Lou Dobbs and Sean Hannity for their constant interruptions and verbal diarrhea).
Anyway, his interview of my beloved governor Sarah Palin was excellent. I highly recommend it:
Sarah looked and sounded great. There was some expectation that Levin would ask her about future political plans, but he didn’t. He did ask if she had the whole running-for-VP thing to do over, would she? She said yes, she would. I have to wonder about the timing of this broadcast. Is Sarah about to accept a position in the Trump Administration?

“And all he does is rant endlessly. It is a tiresome schtick” – Agreed. I heard him once on the radio, tried a second time and realized he was always like this so I did not listen again. I really could barely follow what he was screaming, and I did not like what he was saying. He is one who gets ratings by whipping people into hysteria, but never offers investigative info or solutions. I was surprised when I saw part of the interview. I may watch part of another. At least now he’s not screaming so you can follow what he’s saying.

I have a question for those smarter than me. Can an employer legally tell an employee if they speak out publicly against a political event, in this case teacher strike, on his personal page, twitter, any political site or news article or signs a petition in favor of a VETO REFERENDUM he will be terminated?
LikeLike
An employer can terminate an employee for any reason (other than skin color, sex, religion, sexual orientation or other protected condition) or no reason at all. A wise employer wouldn’t tell the employee why.
LikeLiked by 1 person
For me that seems totally unfair, especially telling them if they sign a petition they will be fired.
I have employed people I didn’t agree with their politics, but as long as they didn’t spend their time on the job promoting them or didn’t bring my business into their politics I didn’t tell them what they could do.
I would never tell them they couldn’t participate in our process.
This employer not only did just this, they put it in writing.
LikeLike
I don’t defend it, but that’s the law, at least in most states. Employees work at will:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/At-will_employment
At-will employment is generally described as follows: “any hiring is presumed to be ‘at will’; that is, the employer is free to discharge individuals ‘for good cause, or bad cause, or no cause at all,’ and the employee is equally free to quit, strike, or otherwise cease work.”
LikeLiked by 1 person
I just looked up Oklahoma law they’re at will with exceptions. One exception that might help this person is if they have an employee handbook that lists reasons for termination and it’s not listed.
Another is they can’t harass an employee to vote a particular way. That possibly could fit, he has it in writing he will be terminated if he signs a petition.

I guess the lesson of the day is to never go to work for a liberal.

Doesn’t that fall under the First Amendment?
LikeLike
That depends as Stella said an employer can terminate an employee for almost any reason.
I just looked up Oklahoma law they’re at will with exceptions. One exception that might help this person is if they have an employee handbook that lists reasons for termination and it’s not listed.
The employer cannot take away an employees civil rights and demanding an employee behave in a certain way (vote a certain way on a referendum) is a violation of an employee’s civil rights.
It cannot fall under an ethic’s clause. Ethics and competitors clauses are the two easiest terms of a contract that can be used against an employee. IMO the employer is on very shaky ground.
Personally I would send the employer or rather have my attorney send the employer a registered letter demanding a cease and desist of intimidation practices. I’d be a real b*tch about while I was looking for a new job.
That said is the job worth fighting for?
LikeLiked by 1 person
He says he is willing to risk his job to say what he wants to say and will not let his boss tell him he cannot sign a petition, that can give him the right to vote against him being taxed. He was just asking if he had a leg to stand on for wrongful termination if he is fired.
He seems mad enough to force him to fire him.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Personally I think he has a leg to stand on. I think it could be fought, but I don’t think he would want to go on working for the man anyhow.
That said I would still sue the employers butt off for breach of contract. Of course I haven’t read the contract but I’ll bet ya’ 10 to 1 that the employer would cave and pay a nuisance settlement before he would be dragged through the court system.

I think that teachers should be allowed to carry a concealed weapon if they are otherwise legally permitted to carry one, are trained, and properly licensed.

Who will train them? What training will they get? To me, let teachers teach. Hire more officers and put them in the schools. They have the training, they have back-up available. We need more officers in the schools. One resource officer is not enough for a school with hundreds to over a thousand students.
LikeLike
The Parkland school had at least two armed officers on campus. What did they do? Absolutely nothing. At least teachers are in the classrooms with the students. They were all targets in a shooting gallery. As for training, that can be defined, just as training for concealed carry is defined.
LikeLiked by 3 people
I believe Parkland is an exception to the rule when it comes to our resource officers. I could be wrong and I should say a county problem they have there. I can easily see a teacher going off in a school and shooting students. These teachers are not like the ones I had coming up. The administrators are just as bad. I know there are bad cops. I still prefer them to teachers and am willing to pay the tax hike to have more of them.
They were like targets in a shooting gallery, Stella. Those classrooms are unfortunately going to need some steps done to make them safe during a lockdown. No windows, I guess. It’s sad, but necessary. But, like any kind of attack, there will be problems that the killer will overcome. All we can do is common sense steps and pray.

Teachers have the same rights as any other citizen. The schools can decide if their teachers may carry on the job. There are plenty of citizens out there who legally carry firearms, and I don’t necessarily trust all of them. They all have rights – just like you do.

I would still be behind arming teachers, one of the main reasons is gun free zones are like shooting fish in a fish barrel.
We do though need to weed out bad teachers and unfortunately all across the country school boards are failing at their job.

I think where we differ here, is not on what their rights are, but whether we trust them to have guns in classrooms with our children. I don’t. But yes. the schools and states will decide.

My point is that there are plenty of citizens I wouldn’t trust with a gun, but I don’t get to decide. And there are plenty of good teachers.

I think it is a bit different whether joe blow can legally have a gun versus a teacher in a confined room with my child can legally have one while they teach my child. My children are grown, just trying to explain what I mean. I wouldn’t support that, not ever. Not these days. Our opinions about teachers are very different. I do understand your point, but disagree.

A parent can always remove their child from school. Personally, I have grandchildren in public school. While most of their teachers wouldn’t want to carry, some would, and I have no problem with that. Many teachers are ex military.

I think it is going to happen. I hope it goes well. Not all parents can remove their children. In this case my opinion doesn’t matter, the ones with a child in the school should decide.

I’m not trying to be argumentative. It is just that we all must live by the law, not by how we feel. A parent can either prevail upon the school board to not allow firearms in the classroom, or they can take their kids out of school.

They would be trained by the same people who have trained all of the other concealed carry permit holders, I suppose.

and then, I think that all police officers should be required to be able to teach Algebra, Chemistry, and English grammar if the occasion arose at a school when there was no other choice for the kid’s safe education.

That’s silly. A teacher would only carry a gun if they wanted to do so. Just as I could, if I wanted to. The gun isn’t a requirement for their job.

Nope on this one. CCP requirements vary greatly from state to state. Here in WI if you can hit the broadside of a barn with any gun from 5 feet away and you have $100.00 for the class and 125.00 for the government you can get a CCP.
Teachers would need intensive training, stress training and testing, hollow point bullets, and time on the range at least once a month. That’s just off the top of my head.
My main opinion is that the teachers who would carry would be the teachers who are not lunatic fringe liberal nuts and the teachers would make the school a far safer place. I believe it should be conceal carry and that only the teacher and the principal should know what teachers are carrying.
Again just some quick thoughts off the top of my head.

I agree Stella.
I would support armed teachers in a heartbeat.
The teachers who will carry will be the rational ones. There is a lunatic fringe in every group of people, if that is our litmus test for what group of people as a whole is allowed use their second amendment right we are all going to be disarmed.
Teachers would need basic training. They would have to demonstrate a knowledge of weapons, a knowledge of ammunition and use hollow point bullets. They would have to train, train, train. I believe most teachers willing to carry are already likely CCP owners and already have a lot of training.
I am also for armed volunteers. I would be willing to walk the halls twice a month. I’d pass a background check and already have everything I need including the training.
There is no reason that any child should be a sitting duck.

You know I was 100% behind teachers being armed in school. What I have been witnessing now, I’m seriously rethinking it. I honestly think at least half of Oklahoma teachers should not be teachers at all.

I don’t know how you work around them. They are nuts, the way they attack every person who disagrees with them and are down right cruel to the kids with parents who disagree with them. They celebrate and say they’re on the way to the party when they ban together and use personal days to force schools, who told them no, to shut down. They’ve taken to rubbing elbows with the socialists now, makes me want to puke seeing socialist flags waving at my capitol.

None of that means that they would murder children.

No and that is why I said I would still support armed teachers.
I still hold to though at least half if not more of Oklahoma teachers have no business being a teacher at all.
I have thanked God several times a day lately that my daughter is against her kids going to public school.

This parent or parents deserve their own share of the blame. You were stupid enough to let your child be used as a political pawn and obviously never once thought about the safety of your child.

Apparently his public communications people aren’t aware of what passes for acceptable public choices for “Catholics” in the United States.
Or does Pope Francis actually mean for this announcement to apply to Nancy Pelosi and all the other democrats who support abortion? If he does, he’s got his work cut out for him.

It seems to me that if Pope Francis truly meant for Pelosi, Biden, the Kennedys, and the multitude of Catholic Democrats who openly support murder in the form of abortion, as well as defiant nuns, a few priests, bishops, etc who, if they aren’t all openly pro abortion, are squishy, he would clearly and publicly excommunicate them.
Okay, truly his first step should be to force their bishop to instruct the priests not to give them communion, then go from there. Except for the priests, etc.
And what about the defiant calthokic universities that teach heresy and endorse mortal sin? Buck stops at the Vatican.

Court in Edgard, just west iof NOLA, handed down a 15-year sentence to an illegal immigrant (news called him ‘undocumented’) for 3 counts of negligent homicide. In August, 2016, he was driving a bus that contained other ‘undocumented’ aliens when he failed to stop for an accident on the I-10, hit a car and a fire truck, killing two civilians in the car and a fire chief that was with the truck. The accident also injured some 30 people on the bus.
He will be tried seperately for 30 counts of ‘negligent injuring’ at a later date…maybe. The illegal driver had no licence period, never mind a commercial one, The driver said that bthe accident was no heees fawlt…sorry, couldn’t resist that…the brakes failed, but a State Police forensic examination said the brakes were fine.
The tort lawyers are swarming – life is over for the guy responsible for putting a bus in the hands of an illegal alien with no licence – but comes the question of “will the illegals injured on the bus be able to sue for damages?”.
Answer to that will depend on the courts. The illegals on the bus were here illeglly and illegally going to work. Now normally one cannot collect for damages incurred while involved in an illegal activity but activist judges just might go for it and let them sue…sorta like when a trespasser comes on to your property and steps onto the tines of a rake you’ve left laying about on the ground. In any event I’m not seeing any big gains as unless the bus company owner is a complete idiot he’s set it up as an LLC and unless el conductor has a secret stash of gold ingots they won’t be able to bleed him much either. In any event the state taxpayers will undoubtedly get stuck with the medical bills from treatment to therapy as few iof any had medical insurance, they were itinerants going to work flood recovery around Baton Rouge.

lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.

Well Wisconsinites let me down and elected a wretched liberal judge to the WI Supreme Court and it looks like that wretch Tammy Baldwin is going to get elected again unless we come up with an opponent.
SMH.
I think our largest problem with the midterm elections is that so many of us are so angry with what has been revealed about our republicans and we know we are voting for the lesser of two evils in the vast majority of most cases whereas the liberals are voting for the salvation of the world in their minds.
I’m telling people to think about SCOTUS and President Trump’s agenda.
What a damn mess.

Yep. We have fraudsters and thieves, charlatans, self aggrandizers, money handlers, grubs and demons to choose from for our elected officials.
I say that and then I know if half of those scumbag republicans were not in the senate we would not have Neil Gorsuch on the bench.

Dr. Piper, who writes a regular column for The Washington Times newspaper, published a column on November 29 titled “Teaching lechery and getting lechers.” He referred to the long list of Hollywood and Washington bigwigs named as sexual abusers, and asked if recent revelations of sexual abuse by celebrities and politicians might have at least some roots in a failure of public schools to teach values.
“All we need to do is look at our public schools and what we’ve been teaching for the past several decades,” he said. “Ideas always have consequences and lecherous behavior will always be the inevitable consequence of teaching lechery.”
How? “For years our schools have mocked morality,” he wrote. “Why are we now shocked to find we live in a society that has no understanding of personal morality? For decades we’ve taught our children that there are no boundaries. Why are we now surprised to find we have raised young adults who behave as if there were no boundaries? Year in and year out we have taught our kids the merits of sexual experimentation, rather than the virtue of sexual restraint.”
In short, he wondered, could public schools that decline to teach abstinence and hand out condoms instead be at least partly to blame for a more widespread breakdown in moral conduct?

So true. I honestly do not understand parents.
I get so sick and tired of hearing them say there is nothing they can do, if they even have a clue. When it comes to your children if you can’t financially afford removing your children from the school, you keep on them every day until they are so sick of you they’ll do something just to not have to see or talk to you again.
Shoot I remember my mother showing up many moons ago threatening my teacher in HS that she would beat his head in with her purse if he did not tell his entire class that we did not come from monkeys. She almost had him in tears, but he did what she said and he skipped to the next chapter ending our education on evolution.
She would be a one woman wrecking ball in schools today. Probably would be in jail. lol
