Today’s sunrise painting is “Salmon Trawler at Sunrise” by David Lloyd Glover

To go along with the blue color, and more modern theme today this is the Easter card I chose:

I had to guess at what the top was because it was cut off. I knew it was a cathedral shape, and it had the “Bless you”. Since it went up to a point I added the cross, and the word “God”, then I cleaned the white which was very discolored. It is just so cute I had to try and save it.
Have a great day everyone – off to sleep now 🙂

    THE CONSERVATIVE VIEW
    BY RUSSELL TURNER
    A TIME OF TROUBLE

I can remember talking to an old man in my community about the trends he saw coming in our nation several years ago when I was just a boy growing up west of Stilwell. Fortunately I had enough maturity to be willing to listen to someone who had the life’s experiences that I did not yet have. I can vividly remember him saying that when our nation gets to the point where it has over 50% of its people depending on the government for their living, our country would be in big trouble. As I watched the news about our legislature voting in the biggest tax increase in the history of Oklahoma, it brought back the words that were spoken so many years ago.

The bill was crammed down the throats of the citizens of Oklahoma. When a bill is put on the floor with no time to review or to contact the taxpayers throughout the state, and to suspend the rules to speed the process up further is not representing the state as a whole. I disagree with the philosophy of the democrats, but at least they are honest about their beliefs. The republicans, on the other hand, claim to be the champion of conservatism with lower taxes and smaller government; sadly these hypocrites showed their true colors. I saw no mention of any attempts to become more efficient or to spend less of the hard working taxpayer monies before just increasing taxes.

Getting back to the numbers, I do not know what the ratio is between the people making their living in the private sector and the people who depend upon the government for their living. But I do know that the biggest employer in the state of Oklahoma is the state itself, and when you look at the numbers of people on programs such as Sooner Care, you can see that there are a lot of people developing an unhealthy reliance on government. Sooner Care pays for over 60% of the cost of the babies born in our state, and the number of people enrolled in the food stamp program continues to climb. I have heard small business people, blue collar people, complain about the lack of representation we seem to have. Whether or not the dependent voters are a majority at this time, one thing they do is to get out and vote. They are voting for their pocket books. I guess it is just human nature to engage in self preservation, but it is about time that the taxpayers take a more aggressive stance on who we allow to sit in the offices in the state capitol. I have seen too many in the working class who don’t go to the polls make the excuse that they had too much to do to take the time to get involved. That not getting involved just enabled a bunch of self-serving politicians to pass the largest tax increase in state history.

We could possibly have some good government if it weren’t for politics. All of these guys and gals hire high priced consultants who do the research and determine who is voting; that is the reason they listen to the rabble rousers in the halls of the state capitol and ignore the hard working people who don’t have the time to go lobby for themselves. This kind of nonsense has been going on for thousands of years; the Roman Empire fell because they taxed the working class out of business. In my opinion it is the natural evolution for government to plunder the productive to give to the unaccountable. Yes, our nation and our state are in trouble, and I fear that there are not enough people with understanding to see the trend.

One solution is that if you must receive State assistance, then you are an incompetent ward of the State, and incapable of voting until such time as you become competent and no longer a dependent.

    I wonder what that’s about.

With Vice President Pence breaking tie, Senate passes anti-Planned Parenthood bill

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2017/03/30/vice-president-pence-breaking-tie-senate-moves-against-planned-parenthood/99820022/

Vice President Pence cast a tie-breaking Senate vote Thursday to pass legislation that will allow states to withhold federal funds from Planned Parenthood and other health care providers that perform abortions.

The measure, which now goes to President Trump for his signature, dismisses an Obama-era rule banning states from denying federal funds to such organizations.

Pence’s vote was needed to break a 50-50 tie. Republicans Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska broke with their party, voting against the measure.

Republicans have said the Obama rule should be overturned to allow states the right to steer funds away from abortion providers, if they choose.

Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, said the measure reverses a rule that “attempted to empower federal bureaucrats in Washington and silence our states.”

Oregon Muse writes at Ace of Spades,
“So Laura Ingraham tweeted some innocuous criticism directed at Der Twerpenfuhrer Hogg, he sicced the left-wing left-wing mob on her, and she apologized? Really? I thought we had learned our lesson about that by now. Oh, and then she lost a bunch of corporate sponsors, anyway, so fat lot of good her groveling did her. Look, it’s real simple: Never apologize. It is impossible to appease a howling mob. That’s the lesson of Donald Trump. He spent his entire campaign not apologizing his way to victory. And yet the GOPe and the NeverTrumpers have apparently come to some sort of agreement, pledging to each other never to learn anything from Trump. It’s probably the only promise they’ll keep.”

    I love “Der Twerpenfuhrer Hogg”.

    lilbirdee12’s prayer:

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.

  13. I sincerely apologize for my delusional comment the other day. Very embarrassing.

Sunday night I checked into the E.R., with both pneumonia and Influenza-A, and having not eaten food for more than two days. Stayed hooked up to two separate IVs, confined to bed for the duration — was just released today with a cocktail of prescriptions, and nicotine patches, which actually work. The Doc said if I had waited two more days to go in, I’d be dead right now. Maybe that’s why the lucid dreams about my death lately. Nobody convinced me to go in but those dreams — and there were more over the last few weeks. I came home, expecting to walk into the mess I walked out of, and my landlady and her friend and employee had not only made it immaculate, but did every stitch of laundry in the place, including the bedclothes, filled my fridge with healthy food and juices, and my parents, from FL, had paid up all my rent through April.

    God’s Grace is overflowing.

So happy that you went in, Wooly. A friend of mine waited too long with pneumonia before going to the hospital, his body started to shut down, his kidneys stopped working, and he needed two months of dialysis in order to recover. And he was lucky. Lots of people die.

Count yourself as blessed by God, your family, friends and neighbors!
