    I hope his certainty is well founded. As he is European, and his involvement in Brexit speaks to his knowledge, it may be so.

    It just seems Europe is on a suicide mission, collectively.

      I imagine that a union of smaller states seemed like a good idea in the 1950’s, when many countries were weakened and almost destroyed after WWII. The EU has become a monster well beyond its usefulness, rather like the UN.

      Germany was probably in a weak position economically at the time, so it was to her advantage. Would be interesting to investigate. I know that West Germany entered into a treaty with several other countries in the 1950’s, which was the beginning of the EU.
