One of my favorite places. If you ever get to Tennessee and don’t go to Cade’s Cove, well, you missed the best reason for being in Tennessee. Outside of Lynchburg, of course. And the Cherohala Skyway. All of the Smokies. The fall Color Cruise on the Tennessee River. Fog hanging in the valleys. Hillsides covered in mountain rhododendron. Forests of every color green and deep blue gray secret shadows.
Don’t miss Tennessee.

You just answered a question I asked myself a few minutes ago…what state (or states) is shown in a map of “Great Smoky Mountains National Park”. This map is in the beginning of the book “Deliver Us From Evil” by Robin Caroll. In the Acknowledgements section she thanks “Ranger Roy Appugliese, Abrams Creek Ranger Station/Cades Cove District.”
I literally just started reading this book earlier “today”…what a bizarre coincidence & fortuitous too! Blessings!

Should stop by Manitou Cave up in DeKalb County, right outta Ft Payne. There’s a neat house you can rent on the road leading to the Cave, nice patio that overlooks the valley and up the mountainside. It’s all hardwood covered and the leaf change is spectacular. On that same road’s the house where my old VN bud lived and where we’d bootleg out of. Probably ain’t there no more but he had and old refridgerator in the back yard he’d converted into a smoker. He’d slap half a hog in, go out and chainsaw some hickory and go to town.
Cave is right off I-59, it’s a west turn and there’s a big flea market right on the SW corner. Road to Cave is just a few hundred feet west of the gas station going north parallel to 59, it’s rural. That was going to be our alternate site to retire but….

But, I don’t like caves. And Czar won’t leave me alone about going into them. “Oh, it’s really neat. Wonderful, etc.”. So it is best we retired where it is not possible to have a cave.

Thank you, Colonel! Praying for your comfort.
When our bodies fail us, praising anyone including God isn’t the easiest thing. That’s when the miracle occurs…we can tell Him that’s exactly how we feel and He’s not going to reject us! He knows everything anyway and loves us just the same.
So a mere “arrow” praise and thanks shot up His way for some small or large thing keeps our minds concentrated on “whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (Philippians 4:8)
God bless!

FOH Mgr made one of these for me two nights back. Yup, it tastes exactly like an oatmeal cookie.
I told her today, someone needs to invent a drink called a Sammich.
She said “Huh? Why?”
“So I can ask a female bartender to make me a sammich.”
She laughed. Everyone else did too. Because we don’t live and work in SJW-ville, humor is actually still allowed. Some of these women make ME blush.

In interviews, Phil Collins has said that the song is about a hooker.
Maybe Phil thought that when god spoke it through him.
It’s actually a song told from the POV of a baby in the womb.
Whether Phil knows it or not.

How ’bout a big steak at The Edge of Texas Steakhouse in El Paso? We go at sundown so we can enjoy that cup of coffee with a chaser of WT 101 and watch that sun go down over the west Texas wastes, creating an amazing dispolay of reds and purples. Gonna have to Uber back to guest housing at Ft Bliss though, takes a lotta WT and coffee to get through that sunset.,

On January 8, 2018, Jenny Joseph passed away. Jenny Joseph was an English poet who penned a piece that has long been a favorite of mine. –
“Warning”
When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn’t go, and doesn’t suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we’ve no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I’m tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick flowers in other people’s gardens
And learn to spit.
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.
Jenny Joseph – (May 7th 1932 – Jan 8, 2018) RIP

In the early 1990’s Mama & I discovered this poem while walking up the shopping street in Eureka (it’s quite an uphill climb but delightful shopping), &she bought a copy immediately to post in her apt. I have belonged to a Red Hat club for 12 years, even went to the international membership meeting when it was in NO. A joyous, frivolous supportive bunch! On the last morning of the international meeting the women have breakfast together in their pajamas (& quite fancy pajamas they wear! With fancy jewelry, no less! And hats!)

I just got torn up. Got beaten.
My neighbor owns a store that’s been here for 120 years, and has a dog. Big ol’ Bassett Hound.
Goes by the name of Willie. Or Willie-dog, as I call him. Known him and my neighbor for ten years, from when Willie was a puppy. Everyone in town knows this dog, as he is always in the store.
Willie died on Tuesday. I just found out today. Cried for about an hour and a half.
Just saw him pull in a few minutes ago. He was on his phone, so I waited. Then I gave him a huge hug. When both of us stopped crying, I asked him if he liked George Carlin. He absolutely loves George Carlin. I asked this man to take Carlin’s advice. Life is a series of dogs. When your dog dies, put it on the counter at the dog store, and say, “Gimme another one of those! That was a GOOD DOG!” He remembered, and laughed, and nodded. I hope he does. Willie was awesome.
New puppy, love is back, and unconditional.

My friend had a giant party-cookout for this dog’s birthday every year at a local kids’ park. Sent invitation cards to all his customers with Willie’s picture on it.
Most people in town are sad about this.
Remember, Stella, I gave you the same advice. When’s Tucker’s b’day, and how is he?
I was overjoyed when you got him! 😀

Tucker is fine. And bad. He ate a pair of my glasses this morning. Destroyed the frames, removed the lenses and chewed them beyond any hope of recovery. He is fast and must be watched. I got complacent and left him alone in the living room while I was working in the kitchen.
They were old glasses, and I have a spare pair, but still. He’s a chewing machine! Typical for his age, and will slow down with time.

When I was 19, just after my bro died, I came back to MI to visit my friends for a week.
It was a horrible week. The first morning after I got here, my friend’s pitbull pup ate my glasses into 1/4″ chunks. I spent the entire week, in my home town, unable to see. At O’Hare, on the way back to Boston, I had to ask people to read the Departure/Arrival screens for me. Almost missed my flight.
LOL/snort
I understand. When I was a kid, we adopted a crazy dog who ate every single shoe in the house. Tore them all to shreds. My folks put him back up for adoption. Wish I could remember his name. I think it was a Dalmatian called Sparky.

The perks of adopting an older dog: they are housebroken, they probably don’t chew, and they sleep a lot. LOL

I agree. If I hadn’t been so set on getting another Brittany, I probably wouldn’t have gotten a puppy. There just aren’t any rescue Brittany dogs available under the age of 10, and I just went through the heartache of losing an elderly dog.

I can certainly understand that. My Foxy was about 4 when I adopted her. I think we were lucky to have found each other.

I watched an entire movie last night, the latest Alien, and it had more than a couple sjw nods plus just was ok.
The oscars are today, and while I dont watch, dont know much about any nominations, what I have read it crap. The vile disgusting behavior from all things left seems to peak at awards season.
I have to hold my nose and shop at some places and grade companies on sjw severity I guess. I wish we had a hub for communication and shopping I could trust.

If you read, or saw videos, about cobalt mining, primarily in the DRC (Congo), you’d feel the need to ditch your cellphone, too. Lithium-ion batteries contain lots of it.
A Prius contains many thousand times the cobalt in it’s gigantic batteries than a single cellphone or laptop PC.
It’s all slave labor. Involving boys and girls as young as 5.
DRC contains most of the cobalt in the world.

I read AT, here, next door, but see stuff when I check the weather forecast on the local ABC affiliates that make me glad I don’t watch broadcast or cable television.
I think the only time the television was turned on in the hotel during this project has been when Mrs. Nyet was watching the real estate, house fixing shows.
I’m still working my way through the English translations of Rome and Greece texts for entertainment.

I discovered that the Turner Classic Movie channel was showing Academy Award winning movies for a while. I set it up to record a lot of them. One that I recorded was Wings. I figured it was one of the later versions, but it was the original, 1927 silent film. I almost turned it off, but the guy introducing it told about how one guy had to learn to fly and take movies at the same time in the plane. It turned out to be a great movie (in my mind).
Clara Bow was in it and I thought she was great. I understand all the hoopla about her. She is adorable. It didn’t feel so overacted the way most of the silent films I have seen were.
Oh, and a very young Gary Cooper was in it………although briefly. I kept looking at him, thinking, “I know that guy.” LOL
And, the flying was amazing and scary. It must have been very dangerous to do. I was really glad I stuck with it.

When silent films are shown in their original movement and not run at the wrong frame speed which makes the film jerky, a person can see how natural acting Clara Bow was onscreen. During this filming, Bow and Cooper were quite an item off the set. She eventually lost her following when her personal high living became her public persona.
Most actors in those days, including Cooper, hid their shenanigans, knowing fans wouldn’t approve their going too far outside convention. She had a breakdown, married another actor (can’t remember his full name…Rex something) hoping for the quiet life he promised. But he caught the political bug and eventually became a state governor, destroying forever her privacy. Overall, her life was both successful and sad.

Slave victimhood is greatly overrated….as is progressive education…as is tribal stereotyping….as is folks not willing to mind their own business and stop preaching to those that are not PC oriented anyway.
The progressives have taken history out of context totally, and made it into class warfare….acting like American slavery was unique in the world and only African Americans have a serious complaint to make about possible ancestors living 100 years ago at least.

My husband died in February, 2012. He had always been a republican. A day or so before the election a democrat called for him to remind him to vote for Obama. I told her he had died, which she probably already knew, and that he was a republican. She said she had him listed as a democrat and he had voted democrat the last election. He had Alzheimer’s and did not vote because he was so ill.
I called every where to report it, but got brushed off, even by officials in the Republican Party. That “one vote can make a difference” rhetoric, doesn’t make a difference to those in power. So, for the first time ever, my husband voted for a democrat after he died.

Criminal Facebook Corporation Shut Down Gateway Pundit Today Because of Our Conservative Beliefs… Where the Hell Is the GOP?
http://thegatewaypundit.com/2018/03/criminal-facebook-corporation-shut-gateway-pundit-today-conservative-beliefs-hell-gop/
This is a criminal act. Facebook took our money for advertising and promised a fair playing field. Facebook lied to us and every conservative group in America.
Today Facebook shut down all of our stories. Facebook does not like our politics. We have 634,000 Gateway Pundit Facebook fans. We are getting no traffic from Facebook.
Facebook is doing this to a number of top conservative sites we are in contact with.

Looks like the FB Gateway Pundit is now able to post new stories, but that doesn’t change the action, or the fact that FB has cut way back on their traffic and revenue.

FB locked out one of my friends for 3 days. He shared a video of gay activists and it was titled, “Queers Fight Back.” The gay activists were the ones who posted the video and were proud of it, they also were the ones who titled their video.
All he wrote was, “How is this not a form of a child abuse to subject kids to this?”
I didn’t watch all of the video because it was disgusting, men with their penises hanging out, women without shirts, crude signs, etc. I’m sure you’ve seen those types of videos.
FB said he was bullying, inflammatory language and sexual content. Yet they didn’t take down the video or block the page that posted it. He tends to post everything public and he shared it, so I’m sure that’s how he got reported. Apparently though they didn’t have a problem with the video or the language or the sexual content, they just didn’t like him calling it child abuse.

Facebook gets away with that, because accounts like your friend’s are provided free. With Gateway Pundit, it is different. They are paying for their account and gain revenue from it. Facebook cut back their views and the resulting revenue. They should be sued, just as PragerU is suing YouTube for similar behavior.
LikeLiked by 3 people
I get that but I still think it’s bs as without all the people who are getting it for free they wouldn’t have any advertising dollars. They should be fair across the board, but they never will be.
Hopefully GP will sue them. I keep thinking another alternative will be developed.

Been outside adiggin’ in the spring dirt. Gpot my old dogs, I’m wearing boots and jeans, got my gun, a bandana and I’m popping a small oxy and washing it down with a cold hard cider before I go back outside and loasd my pickup – goy my classic C&W on the stereo. The music consists of a light, organ-based jam, with Richard Wright using the Phrygian mode and an accompanying bass guitar playing just one tone (in this case, D) in octaves, with a segue into the song’s only lyrics: the title of the song whispered menacingly, followed by Roger Waters’ scream. The song becomes much louder and more intense before gradually settling down again.[6] In the heavier parts and later, quieter parts, David Gilmour can be heard with guitar and scat vocals; in concert, Gilmour would often sing along with his guitar line.
From the YouTube description, probably stolen from Wikipedia by the poster.
Ummagumma was a great album, but Animals was the best one. I never knew the song was just a B-side on a single before Ummagumma.
Pretty sure they were Satanists. Along with Zeppelin, Eagles, and ELO.
Genius music, though, despite that (if true).

ELO was particularly egregious about it, too. They may have been just playing to the audience, like Alice Cooper and Ozzy were doing, and not actually Satanist, but their albums had a lot of obvious back-masking with messages regarding that (backward recording that you could reverse on your turntable, a technique most churches warned all us kids in Youth Group about, which was later proven by science and research to be ineffective in reality, just like single-frame subliminal “Buy Coca-Cola!” ads in movie theaters).
They all did it, though. Even the Beatles. Number 9. Number 9.
Google Backmasking for fun times.

The Christian Rock-turned-Praise band Petra did it with their song “Judas Kiss” on (I think) More Power To Ya. I had it on vinyl as a kid.
That backward bit at the end, when you play it backward, says, “Why are you looking for the devil, when you should be looking for the Lord?”
It was a big diss to Big Churchianity, and on point. I was denied listening to the most incredible music of the 60s, 70s, and 80s, because of these people.
I can listen to Zeppelin and Floyd without being hypnotically turned into a Satanist.
Petra was marvelous with what they did there. There album cover art was always incredible too. Then again, so were the secular bands’ covers.

Mama & I used to make an egg tree: get a dry branch with several forks, paint it a spring color; we liked pink or lavender. Using raw eggs, make blown out eggs (instructions are on videos on the internet, of course) then decorate freely. Hang with pretty ribbon or cord. Use the egg contents to bake something or make omelets.

I’m not sad so much that Willie Dog died, but that he was the connecting point for hundreds of people here. His birthday party was a block party, every year for ten years. People brought their dogs to his store to greet Willie. Many, many people.
Most of us in this town, which is very dog-friendly, know everyone’s dogs’ names. Sometimes more than we remember their owners’ names. I can name 10 dogs off the top of my head right now. Bear. Ziggy. Stewie. Chewie. Max. Lady.
Lady, for instance. I walk a lot. And I chat with everyone. I saw a woman with a scruffy dog on a leash, and a said to her while passing, “Hey Lady!” She said, “How’d you know my dog’s name?”
I know her name now, too, since 5 years back. Lady is almost as old and blind as she is. Lady knew Willie. Lady knows Chef’s little Maltese, Stewie. I spoke with Chef about this today, and we both agreed that we’d be just as torn up if Stewie died.
They’re not just dogs.

His name is Hansel. Big huge feet. I forgot the breed, but cutest dog ever.
He can climb anything, and swim anywhere.
Stewie knows Hansel. And all the other dogs I mentioned know each other too.
Stewie just met Bear, yesterday. Bear is only 9 weeks old. Pitbull x German Shepherd. Beautiful puppy, too.
As a kid my dogs were Penny (a runt Cocker Spaniel), and Rowie (we found this Chow halfbreed pup under a carseat in a backwoods dump, and had to leave him with friends when we left this state for MA when I was 17.) Rowie was an awesome dog. So was Penny.
