Good Morning Stellars. The wind has been blowing so hard that it has blown the water out of the cove! It’s not without precedent and always amazes me. (Many ‘experts’ have told us not to remove the tires…..they were there when mom and dad bought the property.)

Roof shingles continue to flutter to the ground, it’s still blowing in the 20 knot range, but we have power and heat, so all things considered, we’re good! The wind will die down, the sun will shine in all its warming glory and the flowers that are currently taking a close look at the dirt will stand upright in the very near future.

It’s funny how there will be NO wind on that special sailing weekend sometime in the future and the water will be like glass. Just another lesson on how we’re not in charge.

Sheriff Trtacy Murphee from Denton County Texas was interviewed on FOX and FRIENDS this morning. He says that Sheriff Israel should fire all his people and then quit. Guess that about takes care of some of the problem.

Sheriff Israel isn’t nunusual as sheriffs are political animals, arguably thebhighest elected official in a county with all of the vices and assorted aromas of a politicial but with a licence to kill.
Next county over we had a sheriff and bus full of deputies atrrested by the FBI some years back as being members of and working with the Dixie Mafia.
In Orleans Parish the old rooted sheriff established a minor empire even though the parish, after the city’s annexation of most of the parish’s land and functions leaving only a few acres of unannexed land. The sheriff’s primary official job is to run the jail but he managed to make it profitable and, in the process, expand it by buying up property all around for blocks. He was even rebuilding an old motel by the jail so that when inmate’s vidsitors came in from out of town they could stay there more cheaply than in commercial motels/hotels in the area…guess where the money would go? There were also other schemes of questionable honesty that seemed to be widely known but never seriously investigated.
Most people never quite grasp the true depth of a sheriff’s political power in a given county, probably part of the reason that Biden and other pols are moving to destroy the ‘sheriff’ function across the country.

It would be nice if voters would learn that before they elect some of the riffraff they elect. Probably many of them are in the boat I always find myself in and either I switch to being a registered democrat and get to vote for sheriff or I live with what democrats shove on us.

Sheriff is one of those things I wish they didn’t run under a party. Like ours, he was only elected by a very small fraction of the county. Only democrats ran, so only democrats could vote in their primary and then it came down to a run off and even a smaller number of democrat voters voted in that election. Those who are registered republican or independent didn’t get to cast a vote at all.
Leaving our sheriff up to democrats isn’t the brightest idea in the world and they chose the two worst guys running and then elected the worst. Now he’ll probably be in there forever because nobody will run against him.

I kid my husband that I’m going to run. lol

It’s only a joke. I’d probably be assassinated because I’d have to clean house and the buying of new trucks and SUVs every year would stop. This county isn’t big enough to warrant all new vehicles every year.

Plus, I could never be a politician I can’t lie every time my mouth moves.

I voted for a nurse once for sheriff. Not because she was a woman, but because the department was full of corruption and she was the only one talking about how to clean it up. The rest were deputies who were talking all around the issue.
She actually did a pretty good job, although she had no previous LE experience. She was there for 3 terms, cleaned it up like she said she would during her first 2 months, she cut their budget almost in half by not wasting money. After her 3rd term she said she was ready to go back to being a nurse.

OrleansParish sheriff, almost as soon as he got in, bult a huge blocks-long moderrn prison, and as with many larger county sheriffs hoped he’d make money by renting cells to the Feds and state. Even before it opened it was embroiled in fraud and kickback charges, people were going to jail who were building the jail.
Not soon after it opened it was featured on the internet and national TV as inmates with cell phones smuggled in were videoing documentaries of them waving around guns, drugs and booze smuggled in – Feds won’t send there charges there now as it’s too unsafe and – tho new – doesn’t meet many of their standards. Doesn’t matter much though, there are always taxpayers to squeeze.

Ours hasn’t built a new jail yet, but he seems to think it makes him look special if they never drive a vehicle over a year old. He’s also real good at covering for his friends and family on the payroll, which has resulted in the taxpayers paying to settle the lawsuits.

Posted by my FB friend Tom Gelsthorpe. He farms on Cape Cod, and writes for the Cape Cod Times:

The Bill of Rights is a package. Clamping down on 2A cannot be done in isolation. It’s a slippery slope leading towards confiscation. To do that, you’d need to abrogate 1A so targets can’t talk & coordinate; then 4A so search & seizure requirements can’t be an impediment. Probable cause would be suspended to authorize huge dragnets. 5A guarding against self-incrimination and the taking of private property would be next to go. Then 6A, because taking 100 or 200 million weapons would clog court dockets too much to allow real trials. Then 9A and 10A to crush disagreements from states, organizations and individuals insistent upon other rights. Probably 8A too, because targeting hundreds of millions of Americans for crimes they didn’t commit would be an “unusual” punishment.

After our rights are gone, do you think Central Control will ever say, “Mission Accomplished,” and give them back?

From Judicial Watch: VA Pays Big Bucks to Reimburse Business for Ending Illegal Contracts at L.A. Facility

If you’ve ever seen this facility you know how huge it is. It sits on primo real estate on Wilshire Boulevard, one of the main drags along with Santa Monica Boulevard, Olympic Boulevard (so named for the 1932 Olympics), Pico Boulevard all of which go from downtown Los Angeles to Santa Monica and the Pacific Ocean. Fortunately, the property was given for exclusive veteran facility use in perpetuity. The corrupt VA basically sold out vets in favor of…well…favors. So along with primo real estate there is primo corruption.

Great photo of the early facility:

An Alzheimer’s drug might be able to repair cavities in teeth

    http://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/alzheimer-drug-repair-cavities-teeth-article-1.3851674

Scientists discovered the drug, Tideglusib, promoted natural tooth regrowth during its clinical trials on mice, which led to total repair of cavities. They learned the drug stimulates stem cells in teeth, which creates new dentine — the substance beneath tooth enamel that’s eroded by decay when a cavity forms.

When the researchers realized the drug was promoting tooth regeneration, they soaked collagen fillers in Tideglusib, inserted them into cavities and saw the tooth craters disappear within six weeks. After the collagen structures melted away, what remained was a healthy, cavity-free tooth. But the experiment has only been conducted on mice so far.

Kind of reminds me of Viagra, which was originally created as a heart drug.

I mentioned a week or two ago that I had subscribed to Showtime in order to watch their series, The Trade, a documentary about heroin trafficking from Mexico to the USA, specifically Ohio, which seems to be a clearing house for the Eastern and Midwest USA. Official description: “The Trade spotlights the crisis through the eyes of those most affected: the growers, addicts, cartel bosses and law enforcement hopelessly caught in its web.” The last episode of season 1 is on this week.

Anyway, I decided to watch some of their other offerings. Since I had heard about “Homeland”, I started watching that. I now have seen all of the first season, and part of the second.

Aside from all of the violence, blood and gore, which is kind of expected in this type of show, I am absolutely astonished at the number of times the “F” word is used. I am not a prude, but it has become so pervasive and noticeable that it is really annoying. I am at the point where I will stop watching (besides, the plot is becoming a bit ridiculous.)

Well, the “F” word is not technically a body function. It’s a word that was invented as a degradation of a natural act. I don’t object to an occasional swear word, but honestly … they use it in every other sentence it seems.

I think that the writers/producers/directors just are too lazy or inept (or possibly constrained) to come up with a word with more shock value.

Saying that word used to cause a real reaction. Now? Not so much. It, like so many other perverted things, has become normalized.

It stars all of those lovely British actors – Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy, Penelope Wilton. The story and the language aren’t X-rated; to the contrary, it is a sweet, sometimes funny, and heartfelt story about a group of older people who, for different reasons, decide to retire in India.

With a nod to the Oscar-nominated Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, conservative street artist Sabo has hijacked three billboards in Hollywood to attack the entertainment industry for allegedly shielding pedophiles.

Reminiscent of the signage in the Martin McDonagh film, which is up for seven Oscars including best picture, with black text on a field of red, three consecutive billboards in Hollywood sprang up Wednesday, each calling out the industry.

“And the Oscar for biggest pedophile goes to …” reads one sign.

Another says, “We all knew and still no arrests.”

A third billboard reads: “Name names on stage or shut the hell up!”
