Just finished watching the following “Antiques Roadshow UK.” For this episode, the show put out a call for World War I memorabilia and family remembrances. If chosen, the various British commonwealth families present the actual memorabilia on camera in and near the Somme, France battlefield. Very touching to see their mementos and the battle memorials with the names of the men who died.

I just posted my review of our lame-dork mayor Mitch Landrieu’s new book next door. Can’t cut and paste on this so that’s where it’ll stay. He’s out of a job here and couldn’t get elected to almost anything in the state so he’s gotta follow that Rat game plan for a national seat and get a book written…opps, ‘scuse me, ‘write a book’…about how great he is. I wouldn’t want to give him any money by buying a copy, hang in there if you’re interested as I’m sure it’ll be in many book stores’ ‘won’t you please buy this on sale and get it off our hands’ bin.

    Have a beautiful day folks 🙂 , I gotta run .

More BS from Broward county Scot Peterson claims he thought the gunshots were firecrackers at first. Nope not a single person familiar with guns mistakes shots. Many folks who know guns can identify the make of a gun just from the sound of a gunshot.

    Scot Peterson is an assh*le.

      • It never ceased to amaze me that, as Obama likes basketball brackets and liked to opine and prognosticate on who would win, he was always wrong, every single time as far as I’m aware. If you were a college team and Obama picked you to win, it was like a curse.

How could we have let someone who was always, demonstrably, provably wrong, be our president for 8 years? That don’t make no sense.

How could “we” let him be POTUS? Who’s “we”?

I didn’t “let him” do anything. I fought against him and his ideas from the git-go.

Ask those who voted for him once or twice. They are the ones who let him be president.

That he was always wrong on the brackets isn’t so mystical if you consider he couldn’t ride a bike and faked the gym photo-ops. He was very obviously testosterone-signaling.

As for how we let him stay in office there were a great many of us who didn’t want him in the first place. The libs, however, still think he’s the Messiah in the flesh and his “hope and change” was miraculous. It’s a pity they couldn’t parse English and think critically enough to realize what he meant by Hope and Change went way beyond wiping Bush out of office. Dullards all.

I just got called a racist by a young woman who objected to my describing – accurately – the social attitudes in the 1970’s. We were talking about the portrayal and rewriting of the third season of Outlander. This is what I said that she objected to:

The story of Frank could have been told [regarding racist remarks he made], but the writers chose not to do so. Why not? Because they wanted to make Frank a more likable character. They also didn’t choose to talk about Frank’s multiple infidelities, and chose, instead, to portray him in love with one woman.

I don’t like that the book is being changed in accordance with how the writers think the story should have been told. I don’t know how old you are, but none of the writers were alive when the story takes place in the 1970’s. I was a woman living my life back then (I’m five years older than Diana). So was Diana. She told the story her way, and that’s the way it should be portrayed. Yes, racism existed, and it was more difficult for women back then – but that isn’t the story. The story is about Claire, Jamie, Frank, Bree and Roger.

As an aside, yes Frank made racially-tinged remarks about Abernathy’s son. Abernathy had a lot to say about his son that wasn’t very complimentary either, if you recall! Frank was more concerned about Bree being exposed to drugs and free sex than the color of Joe’s son’s skin. Fathers tend to worry about things like that, and people often say things that are politically incorrect – even today – when they are in the comfort of their own home talking to their wives or husbands. Diana portrayed the story in that light, NOT how the writers think it should have been.

Not only did she call me a racist, but an “racist old white woman”.

Are goats more fun than work? The other way around? They always seem like extraordinarily active two year old children to me.

Both. Having babies running around is always fun. Having to round them up and trim hooves, deworm and vaccinate is a lot of work. Cleaning out the barn is a lot of work. During kidding season they keep you hopping and you don’t get much sleep. Sometimes you get a kid that is huge and it takes a lot of strength to be able to pull it.

It’s like pretty much raising any farm animals or farming in general, there are good times, bad times, lazy times and times when you work until you’re exhausted.

Dinner got held up watching a doe have triplets and then having to move said doe and babies to the other side of the pasture into the barn.
This will be one of those long nights because we have a few more who look to be close. So that means alarm going off once an hour to go check on goats. They sometimes aren’t the brightest and think it’s a good idea to have them in the back forty in the cold and rain. The only darn time a goat will venture out into the rain is to give birth.

Now that I’ve said that, there is a local sheep farmer who has told me I could go to his farm to help out. I think there may be a phone call in my future tomorrow. Thanks for sharing your adventures, Michellc. It’s so interesting to learn from people like you.

Hope those wacky goats don’t wander too far afield tonight!

I don’t think there is anything in the world that smells like a flock of sheep in full wool.

Many cattle folks call sheep grass maggots, I personally think the name came from only a maggot would want to touch something that stinks so bad.

Many people think goats stink, but honestly only the bucks stink and that’s only when there is a doe in heat and they’ve peed all over their face and beard. That smells like a rose compared to sheep.

I posted this over at CTH and thought you all might enjoy it….

    Origins of The Lord’s Prayer

Why do theologians spend years studying Classical Greek? Because common translations of the New Testament do not fully reflect their Greek Origins.

How can the vast majority of us profit from this Classical Greek scholarship without studying Classical Greek? By reading a faithful word-for-word literal translation of the Greek, as in the following transliteration of the Lord’s Prayer:

Father of ours who’s in heaven,
hallowed be thy name of yours,
    come thy kingdom of yours,
    arise thy will of yours,
as in heaven, also on earth.
This bread of ours that’s for the coming day give us this day.
And free us from these debts of ours
as also we have freed those debtors of ours.
And do not lead us into trial,
but draw us to you, away from that which is grievous.

How can we be sure that a word-for-word transliteration is itself faithful? In a word, page notes.

    lilbirdee12’s prayer:

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
