from Pippa Passes

The year’s at the spring
And day’s at the morn;
Morning’s at seven;
The hillside’s dew-pearled;
The lark’s on the wing;
The snail’s on the thorn:
God’s in His heaven—
All’s right with the world!

  5. One of the coolest things about records, to me, was that they fit perfectly into milk-crates.

    Apropos of nothing, but how cool is that?

    My uncle had all of Carlin on vinyl. In milk crates, of course. Toledo Window Box. Nope, wasn’t allowed to listen to that particular album as a kid, that’s for sure. And I was too young to understand what I was looking at on the cover, anyway.

    Thankfully, or not, I discovered Carlin much later in life, and I hope he made peace with God before he shuffled off.

    Good Morning everyone. Just stopping in to let ya all know that it is still white here on the Montana prairie. Yesterday we saw the sun and blue sky for the first time in about ten days. It was glorious and although it fell to 24 below last night, today looks like another day of sunshine. Not sure that it will warm up enough to melt some snow, but just the sight of the sun brings thoughts of spring.

    On the other side of the door, I’m still packing and painting and have completed the task that I set out for myself last weekend…hallway, office, great wall and dining room have been completed other than for the bane of my existence right now- the electrical switch outlet plates. I have a gazillion five switch arrays throughout the house, and each one of those suckers has ten screws that have to line up perfectly…who knew???

    It looks to be another beautiful day. :0)

      When the highs are below zero……………..yes. This morning it is 29 degrees above here in the Willamette Valley in Oregon. I remember exactly what 24 below feels like and am aware that I must have weakened, because 29 above feels like a challenge to me now. The humidity in winter in Oregon is high (compared to low humidities in MN) so that seems to add a bite to it.

      In any case – my wish for you is more bright sunshine. I know how that visual can give some encouragement at the coldest point. It’s not warm sunshine, but it helps.

      Stay very safe.

        I forgot to say – there is what we used to call a skiff of snow on the ground here this morning. There are some minor snow events occurring all around on the valley floor and it finally reached this area. Perhaps the daffodils that have opened are reconsidering the wisdom of that decision…. 🙂

    Columbine Shooting Survivor Introduces Bill To Allow Teachers To Carry Guns In Schools

    https://www.dailywire.com/news/27326/columbine-survivor-introduces-bill-expand-allow-ryan-saavedra

    Colorado House Minority Leader Patrick Neville, who survived the 1999 Columbine High School shooting in Colorado, has introduced legislation to remove restrictions on concealed carry in schools, The Washington Times reported.

    Under current Colorado law, anyone who has a concealed carry permit “may bring firearms onto school property, but must keep them locked inside their vehicles.”

    Neville, though, believes that it is time to arm teachers so they can act during a school shooting.

    “This act would allow every law-abiding citizens who holds a concealed carry permit, issued from their chief law-enforcement officer, the right to carry concealed in order to defend themselves and most importantly our children from the worst-case scenarios,” Neville wrote in a statement.

    “As a former Columbine student who was a sophomore during the shootings on April 20, 1999, I will do everything in my power to prevent Colorado families from enduring the hardships my classmates and I faced that day,” the Republican lawmaker wrote. “Time and time again we point to the one common theme with mass shootings, they occur in gun-free zones.”

    Psalm 3 [a]
    A psalm of David. When he fled from his son Absalom.

    1 Lord, how many are my foes!
    How many rise up against me!
    2 Many are saying of me,
    “God will not deliver him.”[b]
    3 But you, Lord, are a shield around me,
    my glory, the One who lifts my head high.
    4 I call out to the Lord,
    and he answers me from his holy mountain.
    5 I lie down and sleep;
    I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.
    6 I will not fear though tens of thousands
    assail me on every side.
    7 Arise, Lord!
    Deliver me, my God!
    Strike all my enemies on the jaw;
    break the teeth of the wicked.
    8 From the Lord comes deliverance.
    May your blessing be on your people.

    Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

    Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

    Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.

    I read this FB page every now and then that is a vet page for farm animals, mainly goats, for the humor factor. It’s pretty hilarious sometimes the questions people ask. Sometimes they really have emergencies, but even that kind of cracks me up because if your animal is that bad why the heck are you on FB?

    I was scrolling through tonight and someone asked if they ever needed to put an animal down and a vet could not get there in a reasonable amount of time, what was the most humane way to do so. A vet replied that for hundreds of years a well placed bullet was the quickest and most humane way of putting down a suffering animal. I expected people to have strokes and threaten his license, which if happened comments were removed. What I did not expect was how many comments were what if you lived in town where it was illegal to fire a firearm. How many people these days have farm animals in town? These are people from all across the country including liberal states where I thought they regulated everything. I guess it’s just odd for an old country girl to see farm animals living in backyards.
    I guess still not as bad as one of them who asked how to potty train a goat, because she lived in an apartment and had a bottle baby goat that she got for a therapy goat. Who the heck gets a goat while living in an apartment and what the heck is a therapy goat?

It started off yesterday morning in the high 60’s and then rain moved in along with cold front and it was down into the 30’s by afternoon. Now we have ice everywhere, it never got above freezing today.

                    We are created to love and they refuse to acknowledge that natural and soulful desire to have and to love babies and children so it comes out in bizarre ways like having companion goats, pigs, chickens, snakes and on and on.

                    I think that has something to do with it along with the push by the animal rights side trying to humanize animals.

                    Take the local news, every winter and summer you hear them say bring your animals inside. More than once I’ve heard one of them say something about the poor cows they saw out in the weather. I guess they don’t realize God gave animals a fur coat for a reason among other ways to stay cool and warm.
                    If we cut down all the fences I guarantee you animals would survive without our giving them hay and grain.

                    My daughter has a friend that has an 8 year old little boy. The kids had to write about what they did over Christmas break. He wrote about the normal stuff, Santa coming, presents, food, etc., but he’s a farm boy and he wrote about a calf that had to be pulled and brought into the house to try and warm up, but it died and the mama cow had to be put down.
                    The teacher told him how sad that was and he told her, “that’s just farm life, cows die and then you lose money.” His parents got called to the school to have a meeting with the teacher and principal because it wasn’t normal for him to have no regard for life.

                    That is so stupid, which is what they told them along with telling them their kid would not be returning to school. They weren’t going to have idiots telling their child there was something wrong with him because he didn’t act like a human had died.

                    He lives in reality, obviously something they have no clue about.

                    Good parenting by pulling the boy out of the school. What did the teacher expect? Is she a vegan? Does she fly a flag at half staff for all the animals she has eaten?

                    My daughter told them that is another among many reasons her kids won’t go to public school.

                    As for the teacher I have no idea, but it’s not like this was a big school. It’s in a rural town where there are lots of farm kids and hunters. I can’t believe more parents aren’t beating down the doors. Heck, I don’t have any kids in the school but I still called and told them both adults involved in calling this child abnormal should be forced to go work on a farm for a week and get an education along with apologizing to this child and his parents.
