Come live with me and be my love,
And we will all the pleasures prove
That hills and valleys, dales and fields,
Or woods and steepy mountains yields.

And we will sit upon the rocks
Seeing the shepherds feed their flocks,
By shallow rivers, to whose falls
Melodious birds sing madrigals.

And I will make thee a bed of roses
And a thousand fragrant posies,
A cap of flowers, and a kirtle
Embroidered with leaves of myrtle;

“The justification given for not limiting even the most egregious abortions was this: we can’t be sure that babies with limited brain matter—anencephalic babies and those with hydrocephalus—feel pain like other babies do. Therefore it would be unjust to limit the ability of the mother to end that pregnancy, and therefore, limiting abortion at 20 weeks is an infringement on medical care of mothers in extremely difficult pregnancies. ”

What the -! ‘The child may not feel pain, so you can’t infringe on my right to kill it.’ AAAAHH!!!

An aside: The interesting thing about all the World War II research I’m doing is how Hitler is viewed as the be-all, end-all of evil. I haven’t looked yet to see how many people Stalin killed, and the Khmer Rouge was at least as indiscriminate though not as effective at mass-murder and genocide. I started to wonder as I was writing yesterday, “Is Hitler really the worst mass-murderer in the world?” Then I had a realization and went, “Silly me. Abortion has killed 55 million. Compared to Planned Parenthood, Hitler was a poser.’

Back to the comma discussion we had the other day, I am leaving this here as food for thought. A friend posted it on FB.

On the Our Father. A Lenten suggestion:

Don’t put a comma (pause) after “our trespasses.”

When it’s there the prayer tends to sound like this:

Forgive us our trespasses because we forgive those who trespass against us

    Instead of this:

Forgive us our trespasses in the way we forgive those who trespass against us

The thought that I am forgiven in the degree that I forgive is highly motivational. And if scripture is to be trusted, highly accurate–Matthew 7:2.

Then perhaps ask for the grace to forgive as God Himself does?

Perhaps more to think about than the comma, but that did catch my attention.

He also was a noted painter of portraits of fashionable women, which helped to bring him success in his own time. I saw this linked over at IOTW. I haven’t read the article, just looked at the pictures. I’ve never understood why young and old women do this to themselves.
I remember once when I was talking to a lady on the phone about a horse, she sounded normal, talked about being a farm girl her entire life. She was in her 50’s at the time, had a husband. Then I showed up at her house to look at the horse and she comes out with purple streaks in her hair, ring in her nose, lip and eyebrow. Part of her head was shaved with some weird tattoo. Then every exposed part of her body was also covered in strange tattoos.
Underneath it all you could see she was a beautiful woman. I just couldn’t understand why she would do this to herself.

I read most of the article and the writer actually makes a lot of sense to me. The pictures are disgusting. Toward the end, I suddenly remembered I had a friend who is in the process of doing this to herself. She had gained a huge amount of weight and finally decided to lose it. She dieted and went to a gym and worked out and started losing it. She started feeling better about herself, but somewhere along the way went right off the cliff. She started getting tattoos, had many rings put in her ears, nose, tongue, and lips. It actually became harder and harder to talk to her while looking at her. Last I saw her, she had both arms pretty much covered in tattoos along with her chest and legs. She really hates her husband and I don’t know if that is what is pushing all this. 🙄

It sounds more like she hates herself.

Kids and young people are often dumb and make immature decisions and then mark themselves for life. I can kind of get it, especially if as teens they have parents who let them do as they please.

Older, mature people I don’t understand marking yourself for life.

I try to not be judgmental but I just don’t like tattoos and facial piercings. I don’t like the wild dyed hair, shaved heads and weird clothes either, but at least it’s not something permanent.

I don’t mind tattoos, as long as they’re done tastefully and can be covered up. One of the places I applied at had pretty strict rules about how you were not to let any tattoos show, and they told me this early on. And imagine my surprise when, years ago, I applied at a local fast-food franchise and they questioned me about my ear cuff, because they had rules about facial piercings and they wanted to make sure I didn’t have any crazy ideas. The last place I would have ever expected to hear about that as part of their dress standards was a fast food franchise. (Which bodes poorly for these folks with piercings all over their faces, doesn’t it?)

My standards might be a little low because I don’t mind women who have small piercings in their noses, but I think nose rings are ugly, and men who have nose rings are revolting. And any other facial piercings are just…ugh. Get some taste.

And I promise I DID NOT NEED to see those pictures. Ewwwww!

I was never one who had any desire for tattoos or piercings or weird hairstyles. One of my brothers though went through a phase where he wanted his ear pierced and wanted a tattoo. He conned me into piercing his ear at home and he ended up with it getting seriously infected. My mother told him it was punishment for doing something so stupid. She then asked him if he thought God would be pleased with him marking up the body he created. He decided God probably wouldn’t so he never got a tattoo. He probably also thought after how much he went through with his ear that he’d lose a limb if he got a tattoo. lol

I did differ about one thing, armpit hair. The author rightly pointed out that it is ridiculous to not shave and then make a big deal about it. Also, the author went on and on about the smell. Well, excuse me, don’t we all pretty much expect men to keep their hair? Having said that, I actually prefer for women to shave, probably just because that is what I am used to, but I also am not for men shaving armpits, chests, legs, or backs (although I might be open more to that 😯 ) Anyway, if odor is the problem then why aren’t we pushing for men to shave their armpits? Just a thought.

I think it’s more because I’ve ran into these type of women in public before and it’s almost like they go out of their way to not bathe. I’ve read them say on social media sites that they don’t wear deodorant, the hair and smell I guess somehow makes them free.

Disclosure: I still haven’t sat down and read the article, so I’m not sure what the author said about the armpit hair.

I’ve always been kind of neutral about armpit hair. I learned that women who do kayaking, rowing etc. don’t shave because of irritation. I reckon that’s true of other sports as well. I just don’t judge others due to something like that ’cause you just never know! I just do what I do for me, and leave others to decide for themselves. Life is simpler that way, and It’s not up to me to judge what anyone else does if it doesn’t affect me.

I differed on him saying no one is born fat. I sure was! I was an almost 10 pound pink basketball with a black curly wig! My research says that if you are born with an excess of fat cells as I was, you fight the fat your whole life versus someone who was not born fat. Now when a thin person gets fat, and the fat cells multiply, then they are in the same situation as someone born fat. Also fat women are much more likely to have fat children. My mother was not fat. I don’t know what happened with me.

Vanessa Trump taken to hospital as precaution after white powder sent to her home

    https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/vanessa-trump-taken-hospital-precaution-after-suspicious-letter-n847231

President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law was taken to a Manhattan hospital as a precaution on Monday after a suspicious letter containing an unidentified white powder was sent to her apartment, senior law enforcement and city officials told NBC News.

The letter was addressed to Vanessa Trump’s husband, Donald Trump Jr., the eldest child of the president and his ex-wife Ivana.

After the letter was opened, three people at the residence were taken to New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center strictly as a precaution, the New York City Fire Department said.

There is no indication anyone suffered any injuries; the NYPD said the substance was deemed to be non-hazardous and was taken to a lab for further analysis.

“How disturbed must a person be to do what they did to a mother of five children?” Michael Cohen, President Trump’s personal attorney, said in a statement. “This dangerous and reckless act goes beyond political differences.”

The Secret Service said it was investigating and would have no further comment.

Residents who exited the 54th Street building were shocked by the incident.

David Schnall, a 52-year-old lawyer who lives in the building, called the incident “horrible,” and said he’s “upset it happened.”

Schnall also said, “The media is inflaming a lot of hysteria with regard to Trump and this is just a product of that. There is an inflammation of hatred towards the president and anything to do with him, and hopefully this will be a signal for people to stop.”

Ok a little thread about crime in SF and why it’s so incredibly frustrating for the people who live here.

(Hopefully @LondonBreed will help? I know she cares a lot about this issue, hope she reads this thread) @hknightsf might be interested too.
Last month a lady named Linda rented a van from us for a few days. It was due back on January 31st. It didn’t come back. Instead, the next day, a guy we’ve never heard of called and asked to extend the rental… a month! This isn’t normal.
We know from experience this is very suspicious. We told them to bring the van back right away. He said they would be back the next morning. We knew that was unlikely. We were right. The next day came and went with no sign of the van.
Now at this point you have people, probably using stolen IDs, likely using the vehicle to commit more crimes, in a van that is past due. So we should call the police, right? Wrong! The police are *not allowed* to even take a report yet. We have some hoops to jump through first.
So first we have to wait for the vehicle to be five days past due. Then we have to send a certified letter to the address on the contract. Then we have to wait for the letter to either be signed, or returned as undeliverable.
Once we have the letter we can go file a claim for embezzlement. NOT stolen car, even though the vehicle has been stolen. It’s embezzlement which is far lower on police priority scale. And we can’t call the report in either. We have to go in person to the station.
We have to have all original docs including the returned certified letter., title, reg etc. No digital copies. Everything original. Then we have to fill out the paperwork at the station while they run a warrant check on our ID. Yes that’s right: we get investigated first.
Then the license plate is in the system and maybe we get lucky and a police officer notices the van and runs the plate, but we don’t get a dedicated detective or anything. It’s simply a flag in the system.
So today we got our certified letter back. Meanwhile we’ve been running a skip trace on this person and they are, as you might expect, bad news. It’s been a week, that van could be anywhere, even Mexico. It takes a while to file a police report, so we decide to go tomorrow.
This is where the story gets crazy: I’m driving back from a dental appointment just before 5pm and notice I’m right behind one of our vans. Thinking they are returning I call the office to give them a heads up and holy shit it’s the stolen van! Here’s a pic I took while following

    Read the rest. It’s amazing.

I am getting more and more confused and frustrated, and yes, mad. Why is it so many Americans are willing to work so hard and have so many crooks, thugs, illegals, and generational welfare people steal the wealth. Why?

We may or may not get our, OUR Social Security. But they sure get their freebies, and the criminals are increasingly protected. It is even common now for unashamed, outraged mamas, daddies and other family members to go on television telling us how their loved one should never have been stopped by the police for that criminal action they were committing, apparently up to and including murder.

Well, the house stayed and stayed on the market. The agent claimed she had lots of showings but no nibbles. Turned out she’d moved in and was living there full time. It took quite a bit of time to get her out.

The government of California doesn’t care what happens to good people. They are actively supporting illegalities, criminalities and are pursuing a total take-over a la Venezuela. The inmates have taken over the asylum. It’s downright frightening.

Maybe it’s time for citizens to heed their own senses and start over somewhere else if it’s even remotely feasible. Idaho may be cold and the winters take getting used to, but it’s a solid Republican state. The lefties are trying their best to gain more seats in the legislature. So there’s a fight here, too. But we’re nowhere near Left.

And, wow, with such laws in place protecting the bad guys in CA, and teachers being forced to teach children immorality and leftist philosophy…it actually is past time to leave.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.

STELLA! I knew that poem you posted by Marlowe was familiar…

Jimmy Stewart and Hedy Lamarr…the plot is that she wants to marry some U. S. citizen so she can stay in the country…Stewart gets chosen even though she doesn’t know him at all and vice versa.
