Hi Wooly 🙂 These are some of my favorite quotes from St Teresa of Avila. She had a truly amazing mind and faith.

May you be content knowing that you are a child of God.
Let this presence settle into your bones, and
Allow you soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.
It is there for each and every one of us.
          Amen.
          ~
          “Let nothing disturb you,
          Let nothing frighten you,
          All things are passing away:
          God never changes.
          Patience obtains all things.
          Whoever has God lacks nothing;
          God alone suffices.”
          ~
“For prayer is nothing else than being on terms of friendship with God.”
          ~
“It is of great importance, when we begin to practice prayer, not to let ourselves be frightened by our own thoughts.”
          ~
She was told by her spiritual advisor to pray this daily:
          “Creator Spirit, by whose aid
The world’s foundations first were laid,
          Come visit every pious mind,
          Come pour Thy joys on human kind;
From sin and sorrow set us free,
And make Thy temples worthy Thee.”

In the Saturday homily I previously referred to the priest said: There is no such thing as freedom from the storm for any of us [1]. Only with Jesus can we have serenity when storms come our way. We can have peace even within the midst of the storm, so do not suffocate from fear.
[1] (After referring to the 8 month old nephew of one of the brothers who is in a coma).

Be persistent dear friend – you love God, and with God all things are possible.

Re “neighbor love”…if we truly “love our neighbor” and we know he is sinning in a manner that is detrimental to himself and society, what do we do? Do we let him go on sinning without confronting him? That’s not loving him. However, taking him to task in a firm but kind manner IS a love act.

Though this Bible passage regards fellow believers in Christ, it is applicable–IMO–to situations in general wherein we must confront sinful actions and explain that the sinner needs to repent:

Matthew 18:15-17 (New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition)
        Reproving Another Who Sins
15 “If another member of the church[a] sins against you,[b] go and point out the fault when the two of you are alone. If the member listens to you, you have regained that one.[c] 16 But if you are not listened to, take one or two others along with you, so that every word may be confirmed by the evidence of two or three witnesses. 17 If the member refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if the offender refuses to listen even to the church, let such a one be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.”

        Footnotes:
        (a) Matthew 18:15 Gk If your brother
        (b) Matthew 18:15 Other ancient authorities lack against you
        (c) Matthew 18:15 Gk the brother

If a person is breaking the law by being in this country illegally, then we should speak with him to determine if what we suspect is true, then tell him that he is sinning and that to make it right he must return to his own country. If he doesn’t listen, turn him in to the INS.

This certainly is not easy to do. Firstly, most people don’t like confrontations with neighbors as they could turn ugly and perhaps violent or retaliatory when it comes to illegal behavior that needs to be corrected. Secondly, Americans pretty much mind their own business. But remember those Bible verses and apply them to the situation. If we feel we cannot confront anyone, then just turn them in to the INS.

To sum it up, if you say you love your brother and you let him go on sinning by breaking the law, then you do not love your brother.

The current invaders from all the s***hole points on the globe, in this case, are not just faulting against us, personally, but against our whole family.

Joshua, just above, is exactly right.

“if you say you love your brother and you let him go on sinning by breaking the law, then you do not love your brother.” True! We were taught in Sunday school not only were we commanded by Jesus to go out and tell the Good News to all nations [1], but that it is our duty and a work of MERCY to, with love, correct your brother.
[1] Many Christians have forgotten this. The culture tells us now only muslims are allowed to preach in the public/government arena.

I am certain that our Jesus did not instruct us to correct or change anyone else…only to encourage, teach, promote, and celebrate those that freely choose His way of living according to the Father’s commandments. Many “preachers” have gotten off free by deciding to rant about, demean, insult, and curse those that chose to do otherwise, and to suggest that we should become controlling and in charge of “saving” their evil souls. Just my opinion and belief.

I do not demean or rant, nor would I tolerate anyone who does. That is not Christian. Perhaps it is just a difference in how we define “correct with love”, which I take as similar to your definition of “encourage, TEACH, promote”. 🙂
I have known people that are Christian and were volunteering for and voting for politicians that were pro-abortion all 9 months up to moment of birth, and yes I “corrected them with love” explaining the science of fetal development, the views of the politician, and how this goes against God’s teaching. All 3 have never voted or volunteered for those politicians again, and now do their own due diligence before casting a ballot. I have “corrected” another person on another topic, and they have either done due diligence, or not voted rather than vote without knowledge. It is amazing how many people have so little knowledge of their religion and their politicians – and that is what has the greatest impact on their lives other than maybe medicine if they are sickly.

I also wondered why Jack White’s song “I’m Shakin'” mentions the St. Vitus Dance, and what that meant. Jack is a genius.

      From IG

In the late Middle Ages, people in Germany and countries such as Latvia celebrated the feast of Vitus by dancing before his statue. This dancing became popular and the name “Saint Vitus Dance” was given to the neurological disorder Sydenham’s chorea.

Vitus is considered the patron saint of actors, comedians, dancers, and epileptics.

It’s funny, somehow. I know an evangelical atheist right now who is three of those four.

      • It’s funny that these lyrics, in this video, say “Saint Rita”, and that’s in error, I know.

So of course I decided to look it up. There really is a St. Rita.

        https://infogalactic.com/info/Rita_of_Cascia

Pope Leo XIII canonized Rita on May 24, 1900. Her feast day is celebrated May 22. At her canonization ceremony, she was bestowed the title of Patroness of Impossible Causes, while in many Catholic countries, Rita came to be known to be as the patroness of abused wives and heartbroken women.

I’m pretty sure there’s nothing called St. Rita’s Dance, though, and that the videographer got the lyrics wrong on that word. Just a bit of serendipity, I think.

  4. This place is a testament to what Christians can do.

Just stare at it, and think of what it took, in labor and intelligence.

Modern homes, monuments, resorts, and skyscrapers are a child on a teat compared to the skill relative to the technology required to make this building.

You know how to cut stone and make glass in 1344 A.D.? How?

The present-day Gothic Cathedral was founded on 21 November 1344, when the Prague bishopric was raised to an archbishopric. The foundation stone for the new building was laid by King John of Bohemia. — Infogalactic

We’ve become slaves, to technology. No architect could do this today, because beauty is lost, and no builder could do this today, using the same techniques — primitive techniques. The primitive techniques are lost. Those that could make it, could maybe someday 3-D Print the whole thing. But they wouldn’t know how to make a 3-D Printer.

The Christians who made this Wonder, they carved stone, made bricks, made glass from scratch, and somehow stuck it all together, and it still exists.

It makes every single thing in Egypt look like a kid with Legos or even Play-Doh.

well….a little slavery was their solution to lack of technology….and math made it possible to plan the creation…and management made it happen by decree…

imagine the USA being built without any large scale agriculture going on for domestic and for trade in commerce….would not have happened like it did…..so the technology of the day was someone’s sweat and labor….not hatred and biggotry….just that was what they had and how they did it…..
we don’t pound our clothes with a rock at the river to clean them anymore either.

      • Same with the U.S.

If GWB, for example, were “literally Hitler”, Cindy Sheehan wouldn’t have been able to camp out in a ditch at his ranch in TX for weeks on end. She wouldn’t be free, or even alive after the first ten minutes of her campout.

I don’t particularly like his legacy, but I do appreciate the fact that he didn’t murder, or have murdered or jailed, those who opposed him. He also didn’t have a lengthy “Clinton Body Count”. He also didn’t weaponize every single unaccountable agency in government against his political opposition. Unlike his successor, Obama, and unlike Hitler, the opposition was allowed to demonstrate every week in every major city for years. Quite non-peaceably, too.

To these people, up is down, back is forward, good is bad, bad is good, opacity is transparency, and intelligence is stupidity.

Cancer must be a good thing to these people, if it’s progressive. Because “progressive” means “good” to them. Savage was right all those years ago when he noted that Liberalism is a mental disorder.

There are more self-checkout stations at the local Walmart in our town of 24,000 than cashier-attended checkouts. I never use the cashiers unless there happens to be one with no one waiting. I sure can’t do the checkout as fast as they can but I get out of the store faster doing it myself because of the lines.

They have also effectively increased door greeter activity. Maybe the two are connected in order to avoid an increase in what is euphemistically called “shrinkage” –

Local Walmarts are tearing out lines with cashiers and replacing them with self-service ones. If you choose to use a line with a cashier you’ll generally find that very few of them are open, forcing you (especially during hours of heavy use) to wait in long lines. It’s obvious the reason is to get you to use the ‘pull it out and scan it yourself’ lanes but as so many people have to drive some distance to use the stores we have large loads and we’re less than happy to be expected to be expected to pull, scan and bag ourselves, especially when there’s no discount for the inconvenience.
It’s obvious they’re looking for new ways to increase profits, look at the suppliers who stack shelves instead of store personnel, regardless of the inconvenience to the shoppers. It’s not as if you have choices, in one nearby city Walmart’s destroyed other store choices except for a few independents, you just grit your teeth and pray the gods of capitalism strike them bankrupt.

Cynic that I am, I think they build that many because Unions.

It’s like a Potemkin Village. In all my years I’ve never seen more than 10 cashiers at either place, yet there are 40 lanes, fully functional. You have to break out binoculars to see the lane-lights that are on at the other end of the store.

They were doing that well before the move to the cashierless systems. One large national retailer store that anchored our closest mall used to get hit regularly by thugs who’d go in, grab an armful of clothes and dash out the doors to a waiting car. Got to the point where I’d use the main entrance doors to minimize the possibility of getting run over by some discount shopper exiting at speed. Theft, due to the nearby projects, became so rampant that the SO finally built a substation in the mall to deal with the mall.

well….China and Russia do not have waves of unskilled ignorant and child bearing masses crowding into their nation and draining the govt funding coffers either….and they would NEVER put up with the liberal mantra of “nation of immigrant” argument for filling our nation up for Democrat voters……the reason we are not funded anymore is because we are 20 TRILLION in debt because we have continued to pretend that non producers, not educated non English speaking non-American cultured people can provide something of value for the USA….which is a lie.

Always the money, never the TRADE OFF that wastes our money.

the constitution did not provide for the Feds to spend money supporting its citizens or folks
who are not legally or culturally coming here.

you want safety….get rid of freeloaders and a political party that is stealing our nation’s values and wealth.

      Afternoon WeeWeed 🙂
I am so grateful my relatives are now retired from flying and made it through all the military budget cuts. [1] There were times it seemed planes and helicopters were falling from the sky from lack of, or lousy maintenance. Thank God my relatives survived not only the fire of the enemy, but the enemy within.
[1] That’s not to say there is not waste to cut in the military, there certainly is as I saw 1st hand while working at an Air Force base, but not taking care of equipment there is no excuse for with all the money they waste.

I’m watching “America: Fact or Fiction” on the American Heroes Channel. The have a program on that’s ‘correcting’ the misogynist, sexist, anti-female history of WWII. They’re going on about the huge accomplishments and sacrifices made by women that are ignored by modern male-centric historians (I learned about them in school and from those who actually accomplished the acts, what happened), even featuring a clip of heaven’s gift to modern women, POtuS Obama honoring the WASPS. Aside from the (snicker snicker) irony of Obama honoring WASPS the most striking thing was the producers putting into the program that the US government hired hundreds of bilingual women to ‘man’ telephone switchboards. Guess it must be hard keeping up the front if you’re a prog programmer.

Because the producers of the show were apparently ignorant of female accomplishments prior to their background research, they think we all are uninformed. Honestly, who DIDN’T know about the WASPS during the actual time of WWII and subsequently. We, too, learned about them in school and read about them in LIFE, LOOK, THE SATURDAY EVENING POST, TIME, etc.

It’s so typical of Dems and lefties that they project their failings onto others. Since Dems, libs, progs and lefties have been in charge of education for 40 years, it’s their fault women’s history isn’t being taught or written about.

      Jerks!

Like I said, we learned about it but ‘progressive’ educational programs throw the babes out with the bathwater in their ‘American self-hate’ agenda.

I knew of it because my mom lied about her age, and volunteered to learn how to fly a plane and be a coastal watcher. I wonder what their mothers and grandmothers were doing during the war??? Nutty progressiveness started well before WW2 as we know.
I really wish the WW2 vets and elders left would write down all their memories, not only of combat, but the culture of the time. It is being lost.

This stabbing incident was initially reported as an “interrupted theft,” with no indication that it was jihad.

    Here’s some good news
President Trump Decreases the Debt to GDP Ratio in His First Year in Office – First Time in More than 50 Years!
    http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2018/01/its-official-president-trump-decreases-debt-to-gdp-ratio-in-his-first-year-in-office-making-america-great-again/
The higher a country’s debt to GDP ratio, the less healthy the country’s economy. President Trump’s policies have officially decreased the Debt to GDP ratio by 1.2% in the President’s first year in office. In contrast, President Obama increased the US Debt to GDP ratio his first year in office by 14.5%. Obama increased the rate a total of 37% over his 8 years in office. [1]
The US GDP has increased each quarter in 2017 with the 4th Quarter GDP increasing to $19.739 trillion – the highest GDP for any country in world history. On the other hand, the President has curtailed US spending. The result is that the US Debt to GDP ratio decreased in 2017 from 105% to 104%. No President in more than 50 years has decreased the Debt to GDP ratio in his first year in office by more than 1%. The last President to do so was Nixon in 1969. Presidents Reagan and George W. Bush decreased the Debt to GDP ratio in their first years in office but by less than 1%.
[1] All the Obama saying it was Bush’s fault, and it could not be reversed. Now progs are saying turnaround is because of Obama… but, but, but he said you can’t wave a magic wand and fix things!

Google employees say the company’s not doing enough to protect them from harassment, threats.

Saw this on Drudge link to USA Today and thought “wow” Damore and conservatives at Google are finally being heard in msm. NOT! It’s the hypocrite progs who abused conservatives that are now whining because people online are calling out their abuse!

SAN FRANCISCO — The firing of Google engineer James Damore for suggesting men are more suited to technical roles than women has triggered a culture war inside the Internet giant, with some Google employees saying the company is not doing enough to protect them from a harassment campaign that has subjected them to hateful comments and violent threats. These employees, many of whom volunteer as diversity advocates, say they’ve been targeted by some of their own coworkers for fighting to bring greater diversity to Google’s 78,000-plus staff of mostly white and Asian men.
Their personal information and comments expressed in internal company forums have been leaked to the public and published on far-right websites, leading to mistreatment by online vigilantes. What’s more, they say they’ve been subjected to doxing on 4Chan and Kiwi Farms after screenshots were included in the 161-page lawsuit Damore filed in January alleging Google discriminates against whites, conservatives and men. They say they are hopeful they can pressure the company into taking a stronger stance against the growing abuse and that they can help stop this kind of intimidation and bullying from happening at other tech companies.

There is no discussion of what has happened to Damore and other conservatives at google. The comments sorted by oldest and newest seem to be a more balanced viewpoint, but gee whiz, it won’t sort by best.

If you can’t take it you hypocritical, narcissistic progs, don’t dish it out!

    lilbirdee12’s prayer:

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
