  8. G-d&Country says:

This amazing painting is The Angora Cat, c. 1783 by Jean Honorรฉ Fragonard & Marguerite Gรฉrard.

Marguerite Gรฉrard & Jean-Honorรฉ Fragonard worked so closely together โ€“ sharing a studio in the Louvre โ€“ that the paintings of the one are occasionally attributed to the other. For a long time Gรฉrard, who was Fragonardโ€™s sister-in-law & pupil, was thought to be the sole painter of this work, but it is now considered to be a joint production by both artists.

There are many details I could only see when the painting is enlarged, so I urge you to do so & find them! At double the size, you can even see the cracks in the paint, & who is hiding in the shadows, as well as details in the reflection. A discussion of this painting is at the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum & Foundation website –
    http://www.wallraf.museum/en/collections/baroque/masterpieces/jean-honore-fragonard-and-marguerite-gerard-angora-cat-c-1783-85/the-highlight/

Wiki has bio’s on both artists at:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean-Honor%C3%A9_Fragonard
    & https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marguerite_G%C3%A9rard

One bio line is: “The French Revolution deprived Fragonard of his private patrons: they were either guillotined or exiled. The neglected painter deemed it prudent to leave Paris in 1790…”

Also, they lived at the Louvre! Before art was on open display for the public, the Louvre invited artists to stay & work on site & treated the building like a creative retreat. In 1608, Henri IV began offering artists both studio & living space in the Louvre. They could sculpt, paint, & generally do as they wishedโ€”but by the 18th century, the surplus of distinguished squatters had left the property a bit of a mess, & their residency was eventually phased out. The Louvre opened as a museum in 1793, & in the early days privileged artists continued to live in residence.
Have a great day everyone! ๐Ÿ™‚

I am truly fortunate that money is not a great concern. Many have said “but what will you do with yourself?” as if that’s a problem! We are living at the most exciting time in our nation’s history. I could spend all day for weeks reading Sundance’s analyses and the comments and links of our great family here at Stella’s. I have a stack of books that I never have time to read because the internet has me riveted to so much happening with our VSG President. Thank you, Lord, that I lived to see this day! I go to bed breathless every night and can’t wait to start back in the morning. And then there is my husband’s political career, which is just taking off. It’s only been 2 weeks, but I’m already saying “How did I ever have time to work?”

Last nite we took a break and went out to dinner, a small place, an offshoot of a NOLA restaurant. We ordered the crawfish bisque to start and I ordered a shot of the only thing in the line they had a ruby port. We split the shot between our two bisques and it worked perfectly. To take the edge off of the bitter cold outside I had black coffee with Drambuie…in all not bad for a formerly dry town. It’s getting there.

I find ruby to be a bit too sweet and fruity but in a pinch, go for it. Tawny is a bit more full taste for me, not quite as sweet. Tried adding a bit more brandy to your ruby port?

Well, at least now Rocket Man knows that all he has to do to tip the Hawaiian Islands over is sent a missile in their general direction. Doesn’t matter if it’s actually dangerous or well aimed – just aim in their general direction and everyone will start screaming and crying in the streets.

And parents will be bleating the question out “What shall we tell our children?”

Sometimes I think it is too late for our nation, no matter what Mr. Trump is able to do.

Personal courage and survival instinct are sometimes pretty dim.

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.

I just went to walmart here in CA, one of the top ten in the state. They raised prices on many many things. Average, 20%. In the bakery, 40-70%. Many discretionary and necessity items went up. Our minimum wage went up 50 cents and they raised their wages, but the prices are near parity with union grocery stores. Then I had to get the kiddo a haircut. The price is now 19.95, for a kids haircut!
I dont know about you all but it doesnt seem like relief here yet, just a lot more squeezing. I hope its just California, but yikes!
