      Morning Lucille! It is cold!!! Brrrr. Texas weather is all over the place actually. Yesterday it was 74 in the afternoon, but today the high is in the 50’s. We dropped to 23 a few mornings last week. How to dress? 😉

        My Colorado son said it’s been in the 60s there (this past weekend) – I’m glad for him for that. His work puts him outdoors in all conditions, so every nicer day they have is one less potentially life-threatening day since spring doesn’t come late in Colorado. He often has to work up in the mountains at considerable elevation so blizzards and 20 above aren’t so easy to deal with.

        ‘Morning, sand! Dress in easily removed layers if the prediction is that the day starts off cold and turns warmer. If it starts out warm and then turns colder, then do the opposite with add ons. Whatever happens always have a large tote full of everything you need.

      Yes, it is. Been in the mid-20s for several mornings here in the central Willamette Valley. I distinctly know what 20 below feels like, week after week, so I’m not complaining! There is this about the Oregon chill – it’s COLD because the humidity is high in the winter months. The air was very dry in Minnesota during the coldest months which helped more than we noticed – – – figured it out after we got to Oregon and, the first winter, practically froze to death at 20-30 above. The higher humidity makes a huge difference.

      Split more logs yesterday and had a good fire a couple of times this week. Must split more.

        😯 It is so cold here I had to wear pants that came down to my ankles and a shirt that had sleeves. And, I had to turn the thermostat on the heat pump to {gasp} …… “heat”.

      Yes, it is! 19 degrees mid morning, and several inches of new snow. First day of snow blowing!

      Tucker went out to play in the real snow for the first time. He had a great time running at full speed in circles around the back yard, and played a game hiding his ball under the snow and ‘digging’ it up again!

    Something we Christians know and believe, but don’t like to think much about. Listen to this video and you see the world as it plays out today. Not quite halfway through he talks about the Accuser. Wow. Accusations are flying too fast to count.

    This video is of interest to all. It becomes very Catholic in the last couple of minutes, if you want to bypass that part, which is a Catholic Bishops’s answer to the demonic activity he just described. All the rest is very much something we would all believe about the world today, I think.

    Trump’s courage and cunning confound his opponents

    Conventional wisdom is the product of small-minded thinking. It is those who confidently defy conventional wisdom who accomplish great things.

    In a recent speech, former House Speaker Newt Gringrich, a Trump adviser, compared Trump to British Field Marshall Montgomery, who beat Gen. Erwin Rommel at the 1942 battle of El Alamein. Montgomery understood the culture of the British Army, Gringrich explained, and knew that Rommel would have the upper hand in any mobile engagement. He therefore drew Rommel into a static, set-piece battle, because that was the kind of battle that the British Army knew how to win.

    Trump, for better or worse, is stuck with the Republican Party, which only knows how to do a tax cut in its own fashion. The result is flawed but better than nothing, and a political victory for Trump.

    Trump’s first-year initiatives, to be sure, barely begin to make America great again, as he promised during the campaign. But he gets top marks for courage and cunning, and has emerged against (nearly) all expectations as a formidable figure in American politics.

      Just spoke on the phone with my parents, both, this morning, for an hour or so.

      My mom’s sister sent me her famous fudge, in a box of packing peanuts, and another tin of these white chocolate candy clusters she calls “White Trash”. They’re so good.

      I texted her a picture of our snow, my alley, my alley cat in his house, and thanked her for the goodies, and put the box of foam peanuts next to my apartment door.

      This morning she texted me back, “Hey, did you look in the box for a few bucks?”

      I almost threw 75 dollars into the dumpster… the only reason I didn’t was because my hands were full of cat food and a water bowl. My mom’s sisters are wonderful.

    Morning Stella, all of you,
    Was in bed early, therefore up in the wee hours so decided to jump in the hot tub. As I did, a huge falling star shot down along the Big Dipper (Hillary/grifter), from handle to bowl. Thought, “hmm, cool.”
    Settled into tub and then over to the south, a flurry of shooting stars! Coming from the group of stars I call the Archer (Trump/Warrior) since I don’t know, but heard somewhere along the way.
    Counted 7 in about 10 minutes, pretty good show. Interesting thing is, I haven’t seen this display of cosmic warfare since last November 8th, of 2016. And you all know how that day turned out!
    So…Interpretation: (yes, from a Californian)
    Something BIG is going to happen today!
    Or, Planet X finally decided to show up.
    Or, Meteor shower I was unaware of.
    Not the DDD desk, but you did hear it here first! 😀

Today went very well & he won’t need to come back for a year & gets to wait 2 years for another Echocardiogram (he had one today & most things are stable).

    14 degrees here right now. Just took the dog out, and put the trash at the curb for pickup in the morning. Wore boots and my down coat for the first time this season.

    ADD: Prediction is for several more inches of snow tomorrow, and a high of 24 degrees. Brrr!
