That reminds me of what our yard and the old growth trees, pressing toward 100+ feet tall, looked like when the frost came down. Oh, I loved looking at that. It was often below zero on those mornings and then, as the thermometer perhaps edged toward ten above or so, the frost would lose its grip on and begin to fall smooth white snow in great chunks, leaving little craters behind. I called them frost bombs.

After a couple of hours of that, the branches were all black silhouettes again, bold against the piercing blue sky. It maybe never would get above 10 above that day. So beautiful

My husband built me an outside-the-window bird feeder in the back hall so that I could easily slip the window up in sub-zero temps, clean the birds’ feeding area, and refill itwith fresh food. He called it Mom’s Cove. I had a large craft-made wooden stool for my use there, (the seat hand-painted with two large Minnesota Walleye) to perch on as I watched them from 12-18″ away. I learned from one of the farmers who was also our postmaster and our neighbor that, with birds, it’s not your presence that frightens them – it’s movement. So – sit perfectly still. And enjoy.

Good memories. Good realities. Right now here in mid-Oregon, I have a couple of faithful scrub jays that try to supervise my wood piles etc. Sturdy birds they are.

Around 30 degrees this morning. Last two nights have had hard freezes. I was going to harvest the last of my beautiful celery yesterday to dry it. Too late. Shoulda done it on Thursday! 😦

    • There’s a question I had as I was reading the article that I did not see an answer to: why is the State Department so hostile to Israel? Were there genuine concerns about what would happen if Jerusalem was recognized as the capital, or was this more politicking from non-elected officials?

I’m starting to think that if we closed the State Department and fired everyone who worked there, we could save a lot of taxpayer money and lots of problems, too.

        Many people here can answer this question better than me but here is the short answer;

War is money, unrest is money, terrorist attacks are money, an unstable ME needs the West to rescue it just like the poor inner city blacks need the democrats to rescue them 🙄.

Only it never works out to the true benefit of the receiver of DC’s largesse with other peoples money and in the long run the loudest of the “give them more money” of the DC elite crowd end up profiting to a much greater degree than do the recipients of their charity.

I just think DC as a giant money laundering facility and sadly most things make sense through that perspective.

  4. Can I talk about something that’s been bugging me for a couple of days?

I have been on Pinterest lately, pinning things of all sorts including things related to Frozen, because I love that movie. But someone had pinned this idea for the sequel where Elsa should fall madly in love with another Arab, hijabi wearing princess. …Really? Did these people buy CAIR’s “We Muslims are the same as you” line hook, line, and sucker? Or do they just like Islam because it isn’t dowdy, frumpy old Christianity?

Christians merely don’t want to make cake, arrange flowers, or photograph homosexual unions. In the Middle East these people would get thrown off roofs or crushed under walls. I genuinely do not understand this.

Part of the reason dumb ideas bother me is because I do like the movie and these people apparently know nothing about Islam, but the other reason is I want the original story preserved. That Disney is making a sequel causes me great alarm because the message of Frozen wasn’t just “Sisters are best friends/familial love conquers all” it was “love is a commitment, not just a feeling.” When Olaf tells Anna “some people are worth melting for” he is committed do doing whatever he can to help Anna no matter the cost. He also tells her that “love is putting someone else’s needs before your own” which is also true.

When Kristoff takes Anna back to Hans at the castle, he’s putting her needs before what he wants. He’s committing to helping her, because he loves her, even though it means that he may not get what he wants.

When Olaf builds a fire for Anna, even though he’s a snowman and he’s going to melt for doing it, he does it anyway because he loves Anna and he’s committed to helping her, no matter what might happen to him.

When Anna goes to save Elsa even though Anna is freezing to death, she is putting Elsa’s needs before her own, no matter what it costs.

People don’t know what love is in this country anymore, This why people immediately think that you hate them if you disagree with them or oppose what they do. Love is not whole-hearted support for or approval of everything people do. I worked in a law office once, and I remember a woman who came in with her adult child who was in trouble with the law, and I remember thinking about that young man, “What a pity no one loved you enough to try and stop you before you came to this.” Misunderstanding what love is can have very real consequences. In Frozen, Anna tried her best to marry someone who she thinks love her but only wants her as a way to get to the throne.

I really wanted to see what this country would have been like after an entire generation of little girls had been raised on this movie. I wanted to see what kind of impact it would make on the culture.

I can’t find the link I saw yesterday – this is something that comes up periodically in Portland and is supported by those who want to COEXIST. They haven’t figured out that COEXISTing with Moslems will be the death of them..

      Love the meme Derk!

I know I keep saying this but always listen to what President Trump doesn’t say as well as what he says. For the first time I hear President Trump chomping at the bit, biting his lip, legitimately, not as a ploy.

Two astounding things happened last night (well more but two I’d like to highlight).

After the crowd chanted “Lock her up!”

President Trump said and I quote “Rigged system – – doesn’t happen so easy – – this is a rigged system, we have a lot of sickness in some of our institutions.

      Just look at President Trump’s face when the crowd is chanting lock her up. It looks something like this;

      In other word “Be calm”. Adults who care about America are at the helm, the are rooting out the as President Trump put it;

……..That is why my administration is taking power back from global bureaucrats and retuning that power back to the American people, you see it all the time, you see it economically, you see it at the church you see it in every different way, we don’t song a global anthem, our troops don’t wear a foreign uniform and we will never surrender our rights to international tribunals, we won’t do that.

There are powerful forces in Washington trying to sabotage our movement. These are bad people, these are very very bad and evil people. They know who they are, these are the people who made their money, their names, their careers, their power off the corrupt and broken system and they liked it the other way.So they will do anything at anytime and they’ll never stop, but you know what we’re stopping them, you’re seeing that right now, you’re seeing that right now we’re stopping them . It’s corrupt, it’s rigged, we’re stopping them. They will lie and leak and smear because they don’t want to accept the results of an election where we won by a landslide.

The same failed voices in Washington who opposed our movement right from the beginning are the same people who have undermined the credibility of our government institutions. They’re the same ones who gave us one terrible trade deal after another and one foreign policy after another with no accountability and no apology. The Washington insiders who oppose our movement are the same people who sacrificed our sovereignty our wealth our borders look at our country we owe tweet trillion dollars think of it We have spent as of 2 months ago 7 trillion dollars in the ME and you what we have we have nothing its worse than it was 17 years ago, And these are the people who want to fight us. They’ve had their chance at running this country and they failed.

President Trump even reminded them that he has evidence of the Obama administration spying on him.

We have terrorists under surveillance, Oh surveillance, that sounds familiar, remember when I suggested something like that? Everyone said Trump, why is he saying that, well it turns out I was right about that one.

President Trump is a true master wordsmith. He is likely the most intelligent, shrewd, brave and dedicated president that this country has every seen.

Watch Marco Rubio’s face from the 18 second mark until the 24 second mark. That is the exact face that all the DC elites have been making for the last year.

There is not even room for two rats on Trump’s ark. They are SOOL.

These are bad people, these are very, very bad and evil people. __ President Donald Trump

If that bastard wins we will all hang from nooses.</i<___Psychopath Hillary Clinton

Years ago Marco gave a lovely speech which included this line about losing one’s country…”I will always be the son of exiles.” So very appealing in its nostalgia and deprivation.

However, his run for the Presidency showed just how inept an overseer of the free world he would be, besides revealing an inability to be an innovative domestic leader. But before that, it was intimated that he wasn’t even the son of exiles but of emigres.

        So much for truth telling.

Last night during the rally, I looked at DH and DD and I said, Thank you, Jesus, and thank you God, for giving us President Donald J. Trump and saving our country.

Probably no biggie to many of y’all out there but we spent a fun time this AM chiseling about two inches of frozen-hard-as-a-rock snow off of the hood and windshield of the truck. Again, probably no biggie but the last time I checked with the Coastal Mississippi Chamber of Commerce there was nothing in the ‘Y’all Come on Down’ brochure about having to rescue your vehicle from an ice flow.
Weatherguessers last nite were predicting 19 degrees for a low, sorta how they predicted we’d have light snow flurries, but our low was 29 while accumulations went from 2 to over 6 inches. Guess I should be glad they found their employment niche in life and it wasn’t nuclear bomb technician.

If you have the time, you are better off turning on the heat and defroster, and waiting until the ice loses its grip on your windshield. Ask me how I know that.

Mentioned that to Czarina but after some 30+ snow-free years it slipped her skill set. Did turn them on and it did help but another problem was the warmth inside the closed truck as the snow fell caused the melted goo to collect around the wipers where it froze into super glue. Skill of driving with mostly cleaned windshield returned and rising air temps with increased defroster output resolved the issue…did break my favorite and irreplaceable spatula though.

Our new neighbor, directly across the cul-de-sac from my house, moved in yesterday. She’s the first new move-in since Grant and I moved into our house six years ago next month.

I think she plans moving the way I do….and she had the advantage of moving from her previous home right here in this community – downsizing she is, I expect. A widow.

Anyway – yesterday her family/friends start coming with the U-Haul/pickups in early morning with about four Real Men who are efficiently unloading. I made just a brief trip across the street to speak to one of them, offering my normal-sized furniture dolly in case there would any help in having an extra on hand. They didn’t need that but thanked me kindly.

Last night I saw she already had her big Christmas tree up – centered in the large window – well done, New Neighbor!! To me, that’s kind of a signal – “Hi, y’all! I’m busy with boxes at the moment but will meet you when I can!”

Then this morning I see a Santa on her front porch entry way, and two more Santas sitting in the window, on either side of the tree.

We already know she’s a collector of knick-knacks (shared by one of her advance men, who allowed as he would be helping her move but he sure wasn’t going to help with packing the knick-knacks! – – sounds like a Wise Man!!). Maybe Santas are one of her collectibles.

This really is a ready-made little community. The realtor had talked with him at length, expressing her appreciation about how neighbors here instinctively look after each other unless someone plainly says leave me alone.

So her name is Clarice. She’s a widow. She has massive collectibles, apparently. She and her collectibles are respected by those who know her. And she has her tree up in the first 16 hours after move-in. I think I understand her a bit already. Since she’s already “local” she may already have a pile of friends and relatives in the area.

…should have added to that last line – “but….” she’s obviously welcoming to her new neighbors by her instant Christmas decorating……we have all levels of that.

Some neighbors are wonderful and well-organized.

And then – WAAAAAAY down the street that I take to leave the development, thankfully, two of those who think that Christmas decorating means buying every single one of the 8′ plastic horrors that you can afford, leave them laying flat on your lawn all day, and inflating them all at 3:30 every afternoon. How blest I am not to be a cross-the-street neighbor of theirs! yikes.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

And, Lord, if it is your will, we pray that Judge Roy Moore will win his bid for the Senate.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.

Holy Cow. Judge Jeanine was on with Matt Schlap and Neil Seroka. Seroka was angry, calling PTrump a liar and saying that he lies constantly daily, and that there is no reason to investigate Comey, that the Judge and Schlap are living in a parallel universe, etc. He was absolutely rude and strange. I don’t watch her show this late at night because these things happen and I get all wound up. I think I will calm down with a Jane Austin movie. Whew!
