      Holy cow, Mike there was an eternity (or time stopped, I’m not sure which) in that 2:34! I could lose myself forever in that kind of beauty – you called it soaring and it was but at an exponential level. Thank you, thank you!

      My pain doc said I’m no longer allowed to take my anti-anxiety meds with my hydrocodone and I’ve struggled with how to deal with anxiety when I’m out and can’t just go to bed and breathe until it passes. I’ve never been good at meditation, either. I’m going to download this music to my phone and carry my headphones with me. I can safely say these ephemeral sounds will slow my heart and lift my spirits at the same time. Bless you, Mike. It’s always good to see you.

          No snow shoveling for me. I live in senior housing so I get to watch the snow removal festivities in the parking lot from my third story window. There’s a reason people here bake cookies for the maintenance folk. I stocked up on what I needed and am happily spending the next several days indoors making Christmas gifts! Stay cozy, Mike. 🙂

        Puzzler, I use music therapeutically. I believe it calms my soul.

        White noise made specifically to “calm the soul” grates on my nerves, makes me anxious but music especially specific songs beat to the rhythm of my heart and slow me down or seed me up depending on the need.

        I know music is subjective but this song always gets me in a good frame of mind. You have to listen to the whole thing to get the full effect.

        Damien suffers from major depression, personally I believe he is alive today because of his music.

          Thank you, lovely. You mention music that beats to the rhythm of your heart and it reminds me of something long forgotten. I was in a drumming circle years ago and in my exploration I got into Native American drumming. Much of their music also centers around the heartbeat and I loved it greatly. Still have my Mickey Hart Planet Drum but unfortunately, there are no drumming circles around here. The local nuns here had a drumming-for-world-peace thing here a couple years ago and I missed it.

          That was before my great conflagration, which ripped out of my awareness a great many things I used to love. Thanks for the reminder of the heart beat; I will definitely revisit my music collection today!

    I have to construct 120 small-plate salads on Saturday. Tomorrow to julienne the red onions, then to shred the carrots, then cut approximately 480 cherry tomatoes exactly in half, then grab two cases of questionable spring mix, and painstakingly put it all together on 120 little plates.

    I thought to myself, wouldn’t Bossman save product money and labor costs if we just went with 120 tossed Caesar salads? We could toss them all in our biggest bowl, plate them in a snap, add parmesan, and done. Alas, we have to go with the garden salad.

    Oh my goodness. Atlanta might get a half inch of snow. The Governor is even letting citizens know on Facebook that he is concerned, and monitoring the situation.

    Georgia faces potential catastrophe today folks. I bet you they have already called school off in middle Georgia. And I can tell you from my experience in management, the worthless POS employees have already called in to say they aren’t coming because…snow, snow that hasn’t even fallen yet.

      It’s snowing here in NE GA! It never snows this early, and they say we may get 6″ where we live!. It sure is pretty, but I don’t get out in it because these folk around here are dangerous!

    Well, here we go, started a few minutes ago…snow. It’s more of a light dusting here but other areas are at about an inch. County has closed all of the schools and I’m expecting a wealth of accidents as people around the area have problems driving on dry streets.
    It’s a combination of snow and fine ice crystals, you can hear it gently hit your umbrella when you’re outside. Air temp is right at 32, if this stuff freezes on the roads we’re gonna have a heck of a time as we have a lot of up and down roads with short distances between the ups and downs…good day to avoid 18-wheelers on our roads hauling logs.

        I will not “like” this comment. I was from Miami & Tampa for 20+ years, & only 3 in Utah, so I’m having a blast watching the snow come down, sometimes big, wet, fat clumps, sometimes tiny single ones. Hasn’t accumulated much as the temp stays right at 33, but there is some on the pine & cypress trees, & a few insulated places. No idea when it will stop, but we people are saying a hard freeze tonight which means black ice. I can go to work late tomorrow morning, after the bridges thaw.

    It’s not the season for it – but California is burning, from Ojai to the Mexico border. I’ve been following videos for several days, pretty consistently provided at Drudge.

    I talked with a 35 year-long friend the other day. The entire Los Angeles basin is not on fire, but everything around, north, and west (and now south) IS on fire. Her grandson is directly affected. She was trying to reach a friend in the West Hills area whose home and life was potentially in the path.

    In such a population density this is complete nightmare. Due to supply realities in such a metropolitan area, there is a specific limit to how much they can even help themselves. And now, with most of the freeways shut down for days, getting out isn’t even a simple matter of ‘going’…..

    Oh, I hated the 25 years we lived within the beast there, knowing how restricted supplies and individual movement would quickly become in any major disaster.

    Gonna check Blancolirio channel (Juan Browne) later because sometimes he covers this kind of regional thing.

    Of course the celebrities are making hay with this but they are truly nobodies and cannot be the issue. Nature, people, animals are on the run and have been for many days. It’s being covered consistently on Oregon news—don’t know about others areas.

      Its dry and population dense and a lot of horses and other animals arent being moved, but others are. There are lots of places to move the animals available, but some arent moving them or cannot. They should just let the horses out to the hills, especially with the lilac fire. At the very least give them a fighting chance to save themselves. One facility in l.a. left alk the horses in the corrals to burn to death but moved the owners horses to safety. Thats the heartbreaker for me.

          The latest on our fires. Its breezy. Lilac fire is in a very steep hilly avocado grove area with ranches in between going southwest towsrd the ocean. No humidity, 80 degree weather. Its also got some hot valley areas. To the east is the San Diego Wild Animal Park, which couldnt be evacuated if fire starts there. We need rain. But if it comes, and pours, we get mudslides. Just cant have normal weather patterns.

            There are horses running all loose down here,” Sise told the racing publication. “People have lost horses. Barns have burned down. It just happened so fast that (we) had to do something.”

            Sise tried to rescue some of the horses from Hansen’s burning barn.

            “I heard them screaming,” he said. “So I was able to get the webbing off of some, but the fire was so bad, I couldn’t get to them all.”

            Leandro Mora, assistant to trainer Doug O’Neill, told a chilling story that summed up a tragic day.
            “I saw two horses burn to death, running around on fire,” he said. “They were all just running around so wild. We saw one break down, probably his hip, from running around, and we found out later they put him down.

            “I never thought in my life that I’d see something like that.”

            Mora said O’Neill’s string of horses at San Luis Rey was largely OK, and trainers Richard Mandella, Adam Kitchingman, and Richard Baltas also escaped largely unscathed.

            Dunham told The Bloodhorse.com some horses were discovered dead on the track during efforts to round up the loose horses. He thinks they probably died from smoke inhalation.

        I saw a recommendation on one of the newscasts from there – plainly telling people to 1) keep their pets and small animals indoors because of wild animals fleeing the fire and necessarily coming right through their yards; and, 2) because of the need of the animals on the run, to please put buckets of water in their yard so that those poor creatures could get a drink as they fled for their lives.

        There’s inherent risk in living in those hills and ranges, but there’s risk anywhere of one kind or another. And sometimes we pay a steep price for where we live. I have only seen one comment questioning why “anyone would want to live in CA at all” – – – Everybody’s gotta be somewhere and for the most part, humans do the best they can with what their options are.

          Regardless of the facts, I suspect the potential for gloria allred losing her license is directly dependent on the membership makeup of whatever board in CA legal world is responsible for making such decisions. It has appeared for some time that the rules of lawyer behavior are not applicable to her.

          She’s an activist, first and foremost, and if she gets disbarred, she’ll stay an activist.

          Guaranteed. The law means nothing to her, except as an obstacle to her activism.

          Yes, it always was. Unfortunately, some people are very very good liars and are able to make it stick. She wasn’t able to see the lie through.

          I’ve dealt with a few family (by marriage) who lived by lying. Because of their sense of nuance, “what works”, who is gullible to what, etc…..they are able to work wonders with lies. Until I went through that for years, I had never really grasped how effective, both in short run and long run, lying could actually be.

          Knowing someone is a liar is not the same as preventing them from being successful at it because of the willingness of so many to be deceived.

          Those whose very lives and relationships depend on deception will always be able to find those willing to be deceived – – playing an old song here, but that is why I see personal deception as the most destructive thing we will ever deal with – regardless of who’s deceiving and who’s being deceived.

          It’s why we had obama for eight years. It’s why Soros is still in full-tilt operation. It’s why I have two grandchildren I cannot and will not allow in my home for safety and theft reasons.

          Deception works in varying degrees, otherwise it wouldn’t be employed so often.

          It appears a good chunk of the country is not only willing to fight back: we are now willing to scratch and pull hair and make the deceivers pay a price in more than the short run. May God help us to fight well and long enough.

        I’m guessing “she” didn’t forge anything. What do you think she knows about either photoshop or copying a signature by hand, including the initials D.A., directly from an existing document? I think she just proffered what someone else forged.

    The wind died down by 1030 last night. Those massive water and retardant drops, plus they got the biggest plane from Sacramento, a boeing 747, knocked the heck out of our fire. All schools are closed. My kiddo is in private preschool but its closed too. He is missing out on making ornaments and a little party. We are going to have school at home instead.
    Winds are very calm but expected to pick up around 2pm again. Wind event to continue through Tuesday and can you believe it, 80 degrees every day the next week.
    Because of accidents and stupid drivers, its impeding our ability to go do our Christmas events since everything is a 40 minute drive at least. Bummer.
    No damage to the house so far, huge mess of dirt, leaves, palm fruit everywhere! 😝
    Hoping that we can get rain soon and have a chance for our Christmas day trips. 🎅🎅🎅🤶🤶🤶

      I just did a carload donation of clothes and whatnot, lots of baby stuff, and had my old washing machine donated too. It feels good to clear it out, but I think theres more. 😥

    Black and white inside-outside cat’s been sitting on the window sill all morning watching the snow fall, not sure what it is. About 12:30 he decides he reallyreallyreally wants to go out and see what it is.
    We opened the door to the patio and out he rushed. He was swatting at the flakes, eating them, shaking the accumulation off annnnnnnddddddddd…he discovered it was cold and wet. I saw him sitting on a snow-filled chair that was partially under the patio table, licking his cold and wet paws. I was going to take a picture but the second he saw me come out of the door he was up on the snowy table screaming his head off…’PICK ME UP AND TAKE ME INSIDE!!!!!!!’. So much for his first – and last as far as he’s concerned – introduction to snow.

    How dare Trump presume to tell an armed nuclear state to stand down because everyone in Washington was in a state of psychological denial that he was elected?

    Let’s establish one thing early here: It is okay for an incoming administration to communicate its foreign policy preferences during a transition even if they differ from the lame duck administration.

    In 1980, President-elect Reagan’s transition was dominated by negotiations between outgoing President Jimmy Carter and the Iranians about the fate of 52 hostages that were being held in the Tehran.

    Carter proposed to the Iranians a series of concessions on sanctions in return for the hostages. The Iranians demanded $24 billion additional dollars.

    Even though he had not yet been inaugurated and was still technically a private citizen, Reagan weighed in on the negotiations. He said, “I don’t think you pay ransom for people that have been kidnapped by barbarians.”

    That statement scuttled Carter’s negotiations. Edwin Meese later confirmed the statement was part of Reagan’s strategy to put pressure on the Iranians.

    If anything, Flynn was too reserved in his conversation with the Russian ambassador. He should have said, “President-elect Trump believes this Russian collusion thing is a fantasy and these sanctions will be lifted on his first day in office.”

    That would have been perfectly legal. It also happens to be what FBI Director Comey and the rest were hoping Flynn would do. They wanted to get a Trump official on tape making an accommodation to the Russians.

    The accommodation would then be cited to suggest a quid pro quo that proved the nonexistent collusion. Instead, Flynn was uncharacteristically noncommittal in his conversation with the ambassador. Drat!

    They did have a transcript of what he said, though. This is where the tin-pot dictator behavior of Comey is fully displayed. He invited Flynn to be interviewed by the FBI, supposedly about Russian collusion to steal the election.

    If you’re Flynn, you say, “Sure, I want to tell you 15 different ways that there was no collusion and when do you want to meet.”

    What Flynn did not know was that the purpose of the interview had nothing to do with the election. It would be a test pitting Flynn’s memory against the transcript.

    Think about that for a moment. Comey did not need to ask Flynn what was said in the conversation with the ambassador—he had a transcript. The only reason to ask Flynn about it was to cross him up.

    That is the politicization of the FBI. It is everything Trump supporters rail against when they implore him to drain the swamp. The inescapable conclusion is that the FBI set a trap for the incoming national security advisor to affect the foreign policy of the newly elected president.

      Wow – what an enjoyable prospect. New Zealand is such an interesting thought – so much variety in geology and scenery. That would be a dream-trip. My oldest brother spent time there in 1958 when he was in transit to Antarctica for work with the Navy for the Intl Geophysical Year – one of a series of initial winterings-over that they were developing at the time. New Zealand was sort of their jumping off point and I think is still an emergency resource of sorts for expeditions/individuals that get in trouble today on that unfriendly continent.

    I’ve enjoyed all the train stuff this week. There’s a place out in the country here that is a nursery in the summertime, and in the fall (leading up to the holidays) the huge, old barn becomes a holiday bazaar with the most amazing selection of gift items, homemade things of all sorts, memorabilia type things, etc. and one of their features is a collection of electric trains running throughout the barn – on raised up tracks, so they are seen and heard but not near-at-hand. There are about eight of those train sets all on different tracks and displayed in a variety of ways. Wonderful story-telling rises from that. Always reminds me of the Lionel train set my brother received for Christmas one year, when he was about ten. Dad had installed that oval track, with just a couple of optional things, on an 8 X 11 piece of plywood, and there was a space in one of the upstairs bedrooms where the floor had a large enough empty space where it could be laid down.

    We must have spent hundreds of hours with that – particularly enjoying when we had company and, as a result, the upstairs heat registers (served by our coal furnace) were opened so the room was not in the 40s! So many good memories.

    Local news is doing he usual snow hysteria crap. They have a reporter up on Signal Mountain showing the “light dusting, as you can see” per the reporter. My husband says “We got more snow than those !*!

    Ah, the competitive southern snow coverage. They even somehow found a family from Florida vacationing in Chattanooga. They had never seen snow. Woohoo!

      Welcome, Marygrace! I think this departure is a routine one. Not everyone desires a career in Washington. Per the Washington Post and The Hill,

      She is in talks to continue advising Trump from the outside.

      Powell is leaving on good terms and chose to depart on her own, according to The Washington Post, which first reported her exit.

      “Dina Powell has been a key, trusted advisor in this administration,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement. “She has always planned to serve one year before returning home to New York, where she will continue to support the president’s agenda and work on Middle East policy.”

      As a further indication, she did not relocate to Washington. Her family still resides in New York.
