    • I like his speech. He is more patient then I am, though because as soon as they said “das raciss” about something I would have flunked the lot of them.

His points in the speech are phenomenal. But the blame for why these students cannot think hours right back to public school. I get very angry when people I disagree with tell me “it’s wrong to feel the you do.” I don’t want feelings, I want a rational explanation for why my opinion is wrong. Usually I can’t get a rational explanation.

Alright, rant over. Good article. This instructor understands reason and isn’t afraid to use it.

Oh, just sounded like you felt bad and no one should feel like that and lacking a safe zone I thought a hug was appropriate.
Well, my Mom’s in her bedroom, perhaps the only living member of the Luftwaffe in Southern Mississippi, if you’re looking for WWII things. Back in the 80s she came into NOLA for a banquet to raise funds and awareness for a battered women’s program. We bought three seats at a table only to find out that a well known local Holocaust survivor was seated right next to her. The survivor noticed her accent and they talked away, at one point the survivor asked where my Mom had spent the war, “In Germany” she replied. My Mom asked her where she’d spent the war and the survivor said “In Germany also”, and that was the only time the war was brought up.
Here we have a friend whose wife was a child in Belgium during the war…my Mom was stationed in Belgium. We go to lengths to ensure they never meet.

            • I went to a liberal college. They don’t make safe spaces for my kind there. 😉 So I was forced to learn to deal with ideas I didn’t like. But thank you anyway.

Now I am really curious about your Mom’s story, though. Was she really a member of the Luftwaffe? Why did she join? (If my questions are out of line, please feel free to say so.)

Yes she was, and her father was an Oberst in the Wehrmacht, he also served in WW I and was a Russian POW. Her sister’s husbands were SA and later moved into other services.
They were a patriotic military family and as the oldest she felt it her duty to serve.
Not all members of the Wehrmacht were Nazi Party members, many were just still steaming over WWI and its aftermath, some were just professional soldiers, many believed in the ‘manifest destiny’ of Germany and more than a few hated the Communists, whether in Germany or in Russia.
In the early 60s we’d visit the post-war family home in Gollenshausen am Chiemsee in Bavaria. We’d go to a local gasthaus where there’d be a bunch of war vets who’d drink and talk about the war for hours on end. None were Nazi Party members, they were nationalist soldiers, many of whom thought that had the Nazi politicians not dinked around with the military and diverted resources the military needed to other areas things would have been different.

My German teacher in the American military high school I attended was ex-something-or-the-other. All I can remember him ever saying was that he spent some time in an Allied prison. We had workers at the American housing complex and the guy in the VW truck who delivered the cases of snap-cap beers to us was ex-Whermacht.
When I hit Bragg in the kid-60s I noticed more than a few US soldiers there who had German accents. Seems that a number of ex-WW II German military with Russian/Bloc experience who didn’t have war criminal records were recruited. Thee

There were ex-SS and Whermacht in the French Foreign Legion post-WW II. How about Werner von Braun…his missile programs weren’t prosecutable as war crimes? Klaus Barbie, the Butcher of Lyon who was in US hands and when the French asked the US tom turn him over to them the US helped him escape to South America where he worked on-and-off for us.

      Bravo professor!

We will have to pull out all of the weeds in your mind as we come across them. Unfortunately, your mind is full of weeds, and this will be a very painful experience. But it is strictly necessary if anything useful, good, and fruitful is to be planted in your head.

Opinions and feelings are different than reasoning and knowledge. A radical concept on modern campuses.

I note that while he talks about the large amount of dirt that would be kicked up he doesn’t mention the fallout. With each nuke roughly holding on average, if my mind remembers correctly, 15 pounds of plutonium or 50 pounds of enriched uranium and a conversion, again roughly, of about 0.1% of it to energy that’s a lotta nasty stuff being micronized and thrown into the air. Also gotta figure on the huge amounts of miscellaneous materials in that dirt kicked up which will be irradiated by the bomb’s detonation.
I think the folks who survive the 25 year freeze will have another problem that will last a whole lot longer. Oh yeah, and if one of those nukes hits a nuke plant or – double yuck – a nuke plant rod reprocessing site…..

The following is from the White House’s “1600 Daily” today…(please, Lord, cause Congress to give us back our country and more of our hard-earned monies, too)….

Tax reform in time for Christmas
With the holiday season upon us, President Donald J. Trump is working hard with Congress to cut taxes for middle-income families and fix our Nation’s broken tax code in time for Christmas. The new bill – currently making its way through the Senate – will slash taxes by some $1.5 trillion over the next 10 years and is projected to boost household incomes significantly after nearly two decades of stagnation. The new code will allow families to spend more of their hard-earned dollars toward the success of their children, while restoring America’s competitive business edge and stimulating job growth.

Today, the President is meeting to discuss the bill with Senators Orrin Hatch (R-UT), Pat Toomey (R-PA), Rob Portman (R-OH), Tim Scott (R-SC) and John Cornyn (R-TX) of the Senate Finance Committee. The Administration is pleased with the growing momentum behind passing these historic tax reforms, and it looks forward to continuing to support the Senate in getting this important work done as quickly as possible.

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

And, Lord, if it is your will, we pray that Judge Roy Moore will win his bid for the Senate.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
