Blessed are ye when they shall revile you, and persecute you, and speak all that is evil against you, untruly, for my sake:
Be glad and rejoice, for your reward is very great in heaven. For so they persecuted the prophets that were before you.

That is also to come. But remember:

“The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church.”
        (Tertullian, Apologeticus, ch. 50).

Always remembering that “the church” and “the Church” are not one and the same. They may overlap, but they are not exactly the same.

Hm. What do they say, “A harbinger of things to come?” At least, it does look like a few Frenchmen are starting to stand up and speak out. “Last week over a hundred French conservative politicians interrupted the street prayers by singing the French national anthem and getting into minor physical confrontations with the Muslim worshippers.”

Given the past history of Muslim savagery barging into a church like that should have gotten them shot on the spot.

They are from a Russian store in Milwaukee simply named “Russian Gifts” the first time I was in there a man maybe in his fifties spoke some English. There was an older gentleman with him who I assume is his dad, the last time I was there it was the older gentleman and his wife were the only two there neither of them spoke English, I don’t speak Russian so I just bought chocolates.

They have really sweet fresh butter.

My daughter wants a Russian hand painted box for Christmas unfortunately I can’t remember which one she liked the best 🙃.

Here’s my take: as a 4-star general he should have thought ahead and never even brought up the hypothetical scenario of his CinC giving him an illegalorder. Bad wording and he should have known better.
Had I have been in uniform and said what he did I’d have had my career and my ass handed to me before first formation the next day. Bad choice of wording, General, ya shoulda knowed betterer.

    Morning Stella, and all,
Clear, cool, and beautiful up here in the north state, 38 now, with rain coming back in tomorrow morning. Get ready.
Love the picture this morning, reminded me of the road in Forrest Gump, and of course, “Country Roads” by John Denver.
Looks like I headed back south to the Bay Area this evening. Couple of things being done with my mom tomorrow, think I’ll go and be there with a couple of brothers for a day or two. Maybe through Thanksgiving.
So, instead of John Denver, a little Rebecdca St. James:

This whole album is so good, alphabetically this song is first on my music thingy, hear it now and then. The past few days, it is really appreciated, and often put on repeat.
Have a great day out there in this Stellar land!

A Fair Hearing by a Jury of His Pervs

    http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2017/11/a_fair_hearing_by_a_jury_of_his_pervs.html#.WhFV3gTd-WA.facebook

… While attention is focused on the kind of things of great interest only to viewers of daytime television, strapped to hospital beds and unable to reach a remote to turn it off, some important things are happening.

The House has passed a tax cut bill, which is heading to the Senate, where I hope the harassment training won’t cut into their work time, as it apparently has the U.S. Navy’s operations.

Senator Chuck Grassley has announced he’s going ahead with a confirmation hearing for David Stras, a nominee for the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, ignoring Al Franken’s blue slip effort to stop the confirmation hearing, and will as well hold a confirmation hearing for Kyle Duncan for the 5th Circuit, despite his home state senator John Kennedy ‘s blue slip. Former senator Harry Reid undid a slew of Senate traditions, and his party paved the way for the new majority to follow his lead. Senatorial courtesy, which once allowed a home state senator to block a nominee from his own state, seems to be a dying tradition.

Rumors are strong that Justice Anthony Kennedy is about to resign from the Supreme Court and the White House has announced five new additions to the slate of potential nominees to fill that slot:

The White House on Friday announced the addition of five new names to President Trump’s list of potential Supreme Court nominees…

Two of the latest candidates, Judge Amy Coney Barrett and Judge Kevin C. Newsom, were both nominated to their current positions by Trump in May, according to the White House.

Barret serves on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit and Newsom serves on U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit, the statement said. The White House announced both nominations in May.

Also on the list are Justice Britt C. Grant of the Supreme Court of Georgia, Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and Justice Patrick Wyrick of the Supreme Court of Oklahoma.

The update comes amid ongoing rumors that Justice Anthony Kennedy, 81, who has served on the court for more than 20 years, is considering retirement.

Probably the most important development this week is the effective end of the CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau), a power grab by Democrats led by Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, which gives a single director who can only be fired for cause by the president (a structure designed to operate outside Congressional or executive control) power to regulate mortgages, credit cards, and retirement and pension investments — in sum, all consumer financial transactions. Warren originally wanted to run this outfit, but when it was clear she’d never get Congressional approval, Richard Cordray became the one-man credit czar. Last October the Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit ruled that placing so much power in a single commissioner not answerable to the president was unconstitutional.

The Obama Administration sought en banc review by the entire Circuit Court Panel. In March, the new administration reversed the government’s position. The entire panel heard the case in May. While the decision in that case is still pending, Cordray this week resigned, and the president appointed in his place OMB chief Mike Mulvaney as interim head. Mulvaney strongly opposed the creation of this bureau. The President thus has now put in place someone who can be counted on to undo the Democrats’ machinations to control all our financial transactions by the fiat of a single man. By their own hands, they created a situation they are powerless to undo — just as by tarring Judge Moore with suspect accusations they open themselves to the same treatment.

  14. Lucille says:

An “Antiques Roadshow UK” episode I viewed recently was held at the Derby Roundhouse–a day locomotive works where they repaired trains in the past. It’s the oldest such facility anywhere in the world, having been built in 1839.

A woman brought in a portrait of her father (a Mr. Wright), along with some WWII memorabilia from the time he was an NCO interned at POW camp Stalag 383 which was in Bavaria.

Another British soldier/commando named Terry Frost (later to become a famous abstract artist – see http://www.artnet.com/artists/sir-terry-frost/) was also captured and sent to Stalag 383. He used his time learning to paint and painted the prisoners’ portraits in return for their providing him with their rough, canvas-like pillowcases to use.

Apparently this particular stalag was not one of the more overtly cruel or oppressive in their use of camp labor. And after a while Mr. Wright decided along with other volunteers to set up a educational system for the men in order to help them use their time productively. In essence, he became the headmaster of a school for 2000 out of the 3000 British and Allied prisoners at the camp.

Along with the portrait, Mr. Wright’s daughter showed a document from January 1945 created and signed by all the “instructors” at the school and commending Mr. Wright for his diligence and dedication in teaching the incarcerated men.

The woman didn’t say whether her father had kept in touch with any of his “students” or Mr. Frost. But her father’s unusual story is one of such determination and “overcoming” that I’m sure none of the men incarcerated with him ever forgot that experience in the midst of imprisonment.

In another time when our earthly societies seem so full of negativity and turmoil, it’s wonderful to be reminded how many resilient, imaginative and remarkable people there have been and still are gracing our world.

Since something once placed on the Internet lasts forever, I wanted to correct two misstatements. I just went back and re-watched the excerpt from the AR episode and found that the “student body” of the school was 3,000 out of 5,000 prisoners; and the commendation from the other “instructors” was written in June 1944. Yes, it’s nitpicky but it is also annoying when my memory fails. Senior moments! LOL!

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

And, Lord, we pray for all the people who have been affected by the earthquakes and hurricanes.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
