    Today’s painting

Stag in an Autumn Landscape – Rosa Bonheur born Marie-Rosalie Bonheur (16 March 1822 – 25 May 1899) the oldest child in a family of artists, was a French artist, an animalière (painter of animals) and sculptor, known for her artistic realism. Bonheur is widely considered to be the most famous female painter of the nineteenth century. At school she was often disruptive, and she was expelled from numerous schools. After a failed apprenticeship with a seamstress at the age of twelve, her father undertook to train her as a painter. Women were often only reluctantly educated as artists in Bonheur’s day, and by becoming such a successful artist she helped to open doors to women artists that followed her. Bonheur can be viewed as a “New Woman” of the 19th century; she was known for wearing men’s clothing, but she attributed her choice of trousers to their practicality for working with animals (see Rational dress).[18] One of her works, Monarchs of the Forest, sold at auction in 2008 for just over $200,000.
The detail of the underlying bone and muscle structure of the animal, is impressive, and lacking in many other painters depictions of animals, beautiful though they may be.

      Excerpt:

“As to the photo, it was clearly intended to be funny but wasn’t. I shouldn’t have done it.”

They can’t help revealing themselves and their assumptions.

So Al Franken, all things being equal, thinks that publicly putting his hands on the breasts of a sleeping woman is his option – because he intends it to be funny.

Get a clue Al. Your richly deserved comeuppance at this moment is NOT about the photo. The photo is simply documentation.

You “shouldn’t have done it”? I don’t know whether to laugh or cry at the depths of the immoral snobbery of so many people in public life (and this includes small town public life).

Why does no one in their circle ever recall them saying, when an opportunity like this presents itself, “I know it seems like that might be funny. It’s not. And I’m not going to do it”? Here’s why no one ever recalls them speaking like that: they don’t speak like that. They don’t think like that. They have no internalized moral gyroscope.

……and if the American public at large had not given up, for decades, the ability and willingness to THINK and BELIEVE THEIR LYING EYES – this crap would never have gotten this far.

Oh, well. It’s just our country down the tubes. It is good that the mask is being ripped off now. It surely is. Ripping the mask off does not reverse the fifty+ years of damage that was incorporated into the infrastructure of our culture.

My husband and I both voted against alfranken when he first ran for senator in MN – but, as usual, the Iron Range and the Twin Cities elected him, even though they had to find an extra box of ballots in a car that had been misplaced in a back alley on the initial count.

All very true! I remember about the ballots being “found” in a car! Sort of like in the Wisconsin Paul Ryan contest, the place flooding, and all the ballots had to be re-written! (from gateway pundit)

Personally, I’m no thanks impressed or sympathetic to most of the women telling these stories, and that includes this one. She uses just the right trigger words, and oh my, the outrage. That she kept to herself all these years until it was popular, heroic, and expedient to have a #metoo tale to tell.

Obviously from the picture it’s true, I’m not debating that. I’m just not impressed with women who pile on after the whistle is blown.

To Avoid Debacles Like Roy Moore, Repeal The 17th Amendment

    http://thefederalist.com/2017/11/16/avoid-debacles-like-roy-moore-repeal-17th-amendment/#.Wg2h3nIhYgQ.facebook

… The Seventeenth Amendment says U.S. senators must be elected by popular vote, instead of by state legislatures. Adopted in 1913 during the height of the Progressive Era, the amendment supersedes the provisions in the Constitution that required senators to be elected by state legislatures.

The idea that state legislatures would elect senators might seem odd nowadays, but creating some distance between the popular vote and the election of senators was crucial to the Founders’ grand design for the republic. The original idea, spelled out in The Federalist Papers, was that the people would be represented in the House of Representatives and the states would be represented in the Senate. Seats in the House were therefore apportioned according to population while every state, no matter how large its populace, got two seats in the Senate.

The larger concept behind this difference was that Congress needed to be both national and federal in order to reflect not just the sovereignty of the people but also the sovereignty of the states against the federal government. In Federalist No. 62, James Madison explained that Congress shouldn’t pass laws “without the concurrence, first, of a majority of the people, and then of a majority of the states.”

Besides tempering the passions of the electorate, empowering state legislatures to elect senators was meant to protect the states from the encroachments of the federal government. The tension was (and still is) between the dual sovereignty of the national government and the states. Writing in Federalist No. 39, Madison explains that while the House of Representatives is national because it “will derive its powers from the people of America,” the Senate “will derive its powers from the States, as political and coequal societies.” We’ve lost much of this today, but the jurisdiction of the federal government, wrote Madison, “extends to certain enumerated objects only, and leaves to the several States a residuary and inviolable sovereignty over all other objects.” …

Yesterday I told DH he’s lucky i have poor health or I’d be running for statewide office! That is one GOOD thing coming out of all the doodoo being uncovered for all to see – no normal, good person really needs to fear running for office, even with the ridiculous lies. There are so many lies thrown about, now people assume the opposite (ie the truth!)

    • I’m okay with repealing the Seventeenth Amendment.

Common sense isn’t so common anymore. Let the state reps pick their federal reps. We won’t be any worse off for it.

A local news outlet’s saying that outgoing NOLA Mayor Landrieu is trying to position himself on the national stage as a climate change nabob…hence the pronouncement by his Kowakian bureaucrat-lizard during the city’s serial flooding that it wasn’t the city’s fault, due to climate change it is the new ‘normal’. That piece of dreck was hardly cool before various sources proved that no, the flooding was caused by the monumental failure of the city to even lie effectively.
Well last night there was a fire under the portion of the I-10 on the east side of the city where it becomes a large bridge over a major canal. Seems that somehow a few thousand tires managed to mysteriously accumulate directly under the I-10 and around the bridge support columns. So we have thousands of tires piled up under an elevated portion of the I-10 in an area frequented by various police and city official on…oops…what’s now known to be abandoned CITY OWNED property over a heaven knows how long period – catching fire.
The appropriate parties are busy looking at the damaged support columns, looking at possible ways to blame someone else long gone…or Trump, after all the mayor’s a big Rat looking for cheese at the national level.

Judge Moore has a thing for old tires I think, judging by the crowd of old tire women coming out of their caves and accusing him of paying attention to them before they were wise enough to figure out how to get paid for being young a long time ago.

Heck its just a rumor, but the fire sounds like his normal MO.

Talk radio guy here asked, “why would these women lie?” To which I replied, “money”. Soros has enough to spread around to support change he wants. Amazing how Luther Strange tried unsuccessfully to find some people who would tell such tales, but almost immediately after Moore won the primary the voices emerged.

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
