Stella, that photo presents an amazing community. Aleutian Islands?
So many of those tiny communities in/around Alaska have an existence all their own – forced to be so independent and yet so vulnerable.
At least they have a soccer field – (if that’s what that is, I’m really not sure). I would imagine whoever designed that enjoyed the process. And I imagine it was paid for by the taxpayers. I guess that’s ok – but using other people’s money as a solution to stuff gets old.

When I climbed up Camelback in Scottsdale, AZ — easy climb, about an hour or so — I got to the summit with my dad, and, not even tired, reached into my pocket, grabbed my Pall Malls, and lit up a cigarette.
You have no idea the intensity of the evil glares I got from everyone else there.
Then I offered them some granola. Everyone lightened up after that.

It’s like that Star Trek review at Ace the other day, really. I’m thinking of how unbelievably awesome it is that humanity even made a place like this, to kick a ball and play a game,
..,and then humanity doubled down and made a quadcopter with an HD camera, and music with dynamically, digitally-altered samples of human voice and a beat you can dance to, and put the results on YouTube, just to show us this amazing soccer field.
What humans can do is astounding to me, every day.

The Henningsvær Idrettslag Stadion in the small fishing village of Henningsvær, located on two small islands off Lofoten, in Norway, can hardly be called a stadium. There are no stands. It’s only used for amateur football. But just look how damn beautiful it is… The stadium is located on a rocky islet surrounded by stunning views consisting of dramatic mountains and jagged peaks, open sea and sheltered bays. The football pitch was laid by leveling the solid bedrock of the southernmost part of the Hellandsøya island, resulting in a very rough landscape, decorated by overwhelming number of racks for drying cod. Around the perimeter of the field is a strip of asphalt that serves both as the crowd stand and as car parking. The stadium’s tiny capacity seems sufficient since the village of Henningsvær has only about 500 inhabitants. Is this the world’s most awesome football stadium?

He’s doing quite well, except that he is not happy with the close confinement. They don’t want him running and jumping, and the only way to prevent that is to keep him crated or on a leash. As the vet said – this will pass. He takes doggy drugs, but they don’t do much to calm him down when he is a container of pent up energy.

My son brought his just turned one year old retriever down here yesterday. He got in a half day of vigorous ridge running and digging. They live in a house with a postage stamp yard. I think it is a horrible life for a dog, even with walks and frequent doggy day care where they have a big area for them to run and play.
I have never seen a Golden Retriever with the kind of personality and behavior this dog has, and I think it’s his environment. Fortunately, they are looking for a new house with more yard. Which will be great for the boys too.

in my golden years, planning to sell city house and move to lakehouse…my main thoughts turn to how to make sure the two pooches have a safe place and room to run, sniff, dig, and wallow…..in the city it was about keeping them clean and loved, in the rural area it gets to be about keeping them loved.
Watched the movie Megan Leavey about bomb sniffing dogs and her dog Rex….still wiping off tears….have become such a dog wuss lately.
BTW, Goldens, Labs, and especially Jack Russell Terriers need wide open space to run and run and run.

Border Collies that have no room are the worst! They have to expend energy and have a “job”, or they can be destructive! With mine, the Frisbee is the answer to letting her do her “job”, and getting all of that energy out! The ball works good too.
She really is entertaining with the Frisbee. She likes to show off with crazy flips and wild catches!

A lot of people don’t know who the “real” Alice Cooper is. His father and grandfather were evangelists, and his wife’s father a Baptist Pastor. He’s been married to the same woman for a very long time, and he’s a Christian.
He got into drinking in the early days of touring, but he’s been sober for many years, and a real family man. The very 1st album I ever bought was “School’s Out” when I was about 12. I’ve always been a fan, but I always knew it was a fantasy character he played.

There aren’t many songs about a guy resisting a woman’s temptation.
It’s also fun to play on guitar, as it has a very interesting chord progression.

This is one thing and one thing only it is the democrats setting a tone for 2018 and if Moore can beat these scurrilous allegations and vile people back by standing his ground and getting elected it will be a devastating blow to the democrat smear machine.

I do what I can.
I talk about things like this at work, with — and only with — people who are perceptive.
Some folks have a lot of shields up, on any side of the political spectrum. Some are on a side, and are perceptive, even if they are on the side of the State and MSM. Those people can be turned. More and more people have dropped their shields against truth. More and more people are abandoning traditional media as News.
Verbally drop hints every now and then. It acts like smelling salts.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
And, Lord, we pray for all the people who have been affected by the earthquakes and hurricanes.
