Apparently, the mighty wind blew

Hmmmmmmmmm.
The monitor just made a popping

time for bed; while the lights still work. 😉

Today’s bacon recipe:
Lentil & Bacon Soup
This is from 3 different recipies I found:
3./4 cups split peas & 1/4 cup red lentil or 1 c lentil [% blend to taste]
6 center-cut bacon slices or 12 regular slices
3 cups fat-free, less-sodium chicken broth
[up to additional 1 cup water depending on thickness of soup desired]
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon dried chives or 2 TB fresh parsley
2 teaspoons dried thyme or large sprig thyme
1 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram
1/2 teaspoon ground sage
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 bay leaf
1 scant dash Tabasco sauce
1 onion, chopped
2 carrots, sliced, or 1 small sweet potato, peeled and finely diced, or optional 1 sweet red pepper, finely chopped [your choice how much sweetness you want]
optional grated cheese
Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat until crisp.
Remove bacon from pan, reserving 1 TB drippings in pan.
Crumble bacon; set aside.
Add onion to drippings in pan; sauté 5 minutes or until lightly browned.
Add carrot [sweet poatato, red peppers], dried herbs, and garlic; cook for 5 minutes or until crisp-tender.
Add broth, lentils, and 1 cup water; bring to boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 15 minutes or until lentils are just tender.
Uncover and increase heat to medium-high; cook 6-15 minutes or until liquid almost evaporates.
Remove from heat; stir in fresh herbs and pepper. Remove bay leaf.
Sprinkle bacon on top. [with optional grated cheese]
Enjoy!

I have some aloe plants that were recently given to me. So far they’ve lasted a couple of months. My only successful plant story is one I bought at our farmers market, Ive had it over a year and it’s still ticking! Everything else I have killed or given to sympathetic plant rescuers.

AN ANCIENT PAPYRUS REVEALS HOW THE GREAT PYRAMID OF GIZA WAS BUILT

One of the highlights of my life was visiting the Great Pyramid, taking the tour into the burial chamber and hanging back as the group left. When the group was all gone I crawled into the sarcophagus, clicked off my flashlight and just laid there as did Napoleon. It’s amazing, you can hear your heartbeat and the blood coursing through your eats. You are alone, under and surrounded by tons of limestone and granite in total darkness and total silence.
If you make a trip to Israel or the Mideast you must stop at Giza, it’s completely worth the effort.

Good Morning Nyet! Thanks for breakfast. Good morning everyone….
“There was a nice brown egg, lightly boiled, for each of them, and then sardines on toast, and then buttered toast, and then toast with honey, and then a sugar-topped cake. And when Lucy was tired of eating, the Faun began to talk. He had wonderful tales to tell of life in the forest. He told about the midnight dances and how the Nymphs who lived in the wells and the Dryads who lived in the trees came out to dance with the Fauns; about long hunting parties after the milk-white stag who could give you wishes if you caught him; about feasting and treasure-seeking with the wild Red Dwarfs in deep mines and caverns far beneath the forest floor; and then about summer when the woods were green and old Silenus on his fat donkey would come to visit them, and sometimes Bacchus himself, and then the streams would run with wine instead of water and the whole forest would give itself up to jollification for weeks on end.”

So I have been reading a book called “Flight From the Reich” which I alluded to previously as the book that compared modern day Muslim “refugees” with Jewish refugees in the opening introduction of the book. Reading this book has just been nails down a chalkboard because it so far reads like an indictment of the rest of the world for not doing enough to take in Jews from Germany.
Heaven forbid that other countries ever dare put a quota on refugees, or watch out for their own people first. The authors even had to be honest (in spite of themselves, apparently) and admit that once welfare systems were set up in the different countries, they became awfully hesitant about taking in people who might end up on welfare. (Really? Tell me more.)
So I’ve been reading this book and knowing the whole time that something is wrong with the way this story is being told. I just couldn’t put my finger on what it was. But the authors accidentally told the truth again by telling the story of a diplomat who resigned and pointed out as he did that “The problem must be tackled at it’s source if disaster is to be avoided.”
Someone finally speaks the truth to power. Finally. And this is why letting in Muslim refugees is stupid too, and not just because they’re ticking time bombs ready to go off and drive cars into crowded venues at any minute. Letting them in doesn’t solve the root problem. Indeed, in Germany in 1930 the issue was a rogue government. In the Middle East, they can’t even use that argument since Islam still prides itself on being unchanging and stuck in the Dark Ages and is the number one persecutor of people in the world these days. Letting Muslims in because “They’re refugees being persecuted in their homeland” would be the equivalent of, in the 1930s, letting Nazis in because they were being persecuted because they thought Hitler’s Final Solution hadn’t gone far enough fast enough.
I’m done with this book. I had hoped to get some good info form it, but the authors have an agenda.

Oh! Sorry I didn’t know it is a library book. Print off some truth bombs disputing the propaganda and stick them in the pages so the next person who takes it out gets a little bit of knowledge along with the book.

It’s okay. If I could get away with it without them charging me for the book, I would lose it in a dumpster somewhere or something because I suspect that the next person who checks it out will probably be more susceptible to this line of crap the writers are peddling.
If I knew how to contextualize the problem with the book, i would probably try to leave something in it to combat the problem, but I don’t know how to put it in context. I thought about underlining that line, too, but I hate writing in books that aren’t mine.

Hey all.
I asked Google, “Why isn’t Joe Bonamassa on the radio?”
First result.
https://forum.jbonamassa.com/viewtopic.php?id=2888
Album and concert sales are phenomenal. 7 albums, now. Constant touring.
No radio play. Because apparently we all want to hear Billy Joel from the 80s again. Or maybe some Aerosmith we’ve heard a billion times.
Wow, I wish I had a FM radio station network. The playlist would look a lot like the last few years of Stella’s Place YouTube songs, sequentially. At 3:00 AM, listeners would hear rare Hendrix, Rachmaninoff, and followed by Enya and Willie Nelson. Screw “formats”. Replace them.
Radio is almost like Groundhog Day at this point. You almost know what song is coming up next, because you’ve heard it, the “format”, for 40 years. It needs to be replaced.

Does your local radio station have a time of day where they take requests? If so, call them and ask them to play it.
Are you listing to an 80s/90s/Now station?
Also, iHeartRadio will let you build your own artist station that you can play on your computer or phone.

I only hear radio when I’m trapped in someone’s car.
At work, it’s multi-seed Pandora playlists, and at home it’s YouTube, and multi-seed (never more than three seeds) Pandora playlists.
I have amassed a large collection of receipts, upon the backs of which I have written down artists and songs recommended to me over the years. Hundreds. I have probably ten in my wallet, right now.
I heard a station like the one I would make, if I were a billionaire, in Vermont, once.
Me and our friends used to hang out at their dad’s cabin in N. VT, and this station would play WIllie followed by Megadeth followed by Stravinsky.
That is my kind of station. I don’t want to hear Blinded by the Light, that Manfred Mann/Springsteen abomination, ever again. Yet I will. Probably the next time a radio is on in my presence. I want to hear Susan Tedeschi, or Bobby McFerrin, or something good and rare.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yes, you will hear it again, because it’s popular. Radios are businesses and your local stations need to make money, so they play songs that the majority of their listening audience will stick around to listen too.
NPR is the only radio station/network I can think of that’s not profit driven, and it’s not an improvement. At least the profit-driven ones have to compete for my interest.

My problem is the exact opposite of Wooly’s. I mostly want to listen to country, but not the new stuff (since 1990 LOL). Most of the stations play only the new stuff and I find it irritating. So, I play CDs in the car.

Pandora, Ausmom. Pandora. It’s algorithms are penultimate. You make a station, with, say, GARTH BROOKS. Then you say, “add”, and add another seed, say, WILLIE NELSON, and then just one more, say, JOHNNY CASH. That station will not disappoint.

You could make a Willie Nelson, Metallica, Hillsong United channel. It would play four songs based on each seed, then roll the dice and pick another seed. I have and do.

Don’t you have to pay for Pandora?

And again, iHeartRadio will let you build your own station. If you listen to several artist stations and continue to teach it what you do and don’t like by up or down-voting the songs, eventually they will compile your favorites into your own station.
Apparently this process goes even faster if you have a paid subscription, which I don’t have.

I’m almost of the mind that you have to sell your soul to get radio play, or any exposure in the MSM at all. Weinsteinism, satanism, “spirit cooking”, one-eye symbols, butterfly symbols, the whole 90s Seattle rock scene, all of popular rap today, the Pedestas, and MK Ultra.
It’s all intertwined, and it’s all the same animal. They all entered via a pact. Henley said, “…but you can never leave.” I hope Corey Feldman stays safe. He’s about to name a lot of names.

Radio stations play what most of their audience listens to, and what will keep the advertising dollars they have managed to hang on to coming in. People like you find your music outside the old style station.
People who still like the music you scorn are often unable to find a source for their music outside the old radio stations, and they are older often. They like to hear a human voice. They might be lonely or nostalgic, or both.
I never listen to radio stations anymore, I can find music that I like and want. But I still have lots of stuff you hate on my ipod, which I cling to, and which I love. And I have new stuff, operas, unknowns, a few I’ve found on soundtracks from Longmire, which has someone awesome in charge of picking music. Occasionally I add some you guys recommend.
But I am not giving up music I’ve always loved because it’s not cool or cutting edge, or someone new came along.
You like what you like. So too do people who keep the rusty old radio stations in business.

It’s been there almost a year. And those words are drilled into the heads of everyone who walks in that door. It’s literally the first thing you see, even when you’re fumbling with your keys — the first thing after seeing me on the fire escape, smoking a Pall Mall, that is.

Great thread over at Vox Day’s site on Manafort, et al.
He doesn’t have SD’s O/T rule, because he doesn’t have “open threads” to begin with.
Here’s an O/T comment on the Manafort thread:
Speaking of things getting more interesting:
The US captured one of the terrorists who attacked the American embassy in Benghazi, Libya on September 11, 2012, US officials said Monday.
According to the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the man was captured in Libya and was being brought back to the US, AP reported.
US Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and three other Americans were murdered in the terrorist attack on the embassy.
US President Donald Trump reportedly approved the operation to capture the terrorist, which was carried out in cooperation with the Libyan government.
The whole thread is good, because most commenters at VP are intelligent and insightful.

Well, getting all of those little things done we now do to get the GGS ready for trick or treating. You know, last minute checks on costume fit, getting a flashlight with good batteries, checking the state’s registry for sex offenders in the neighborhoods he’ll be in…

It’s pretty cold in SH, right now. I got my trenchcoat, and nothing else, for a costume.
People say, “Aren’t you gonna freeze?” I say, “Nah, with all the running and the pepper spray, I’ll be okay.”

Grandfathers can be so important to a grandchild. My father happened to be around for most of the growing up years of my son. I now can see my father’s influence in how he treats his wife and his children.

My aunt out East sent me this, the other day. Been saving it for Halloween. It’s been her side-yard since I was a young teen. She texted me, “My neighbors.” I texted back, “At least they don’t have to be yelled at to keep it down!”
Wonderful Fall photo.

My cousins lived across the street from a funeral home. We played hide and seek in there when we were very young. Now you all have a little more insight into why I am who I am 😉. Myself and two of my cousins were the youngest of our crew so the eldest among us thought we were great guinea pigs.

Long time ago I went to a mandatory costume Halloween party at a friend’s house. We worked the graveyard shift together at the local hospital. I was in x-ray, she was in the emergency room.
An unfamiliar couple arrived – she in nude tights, combat boots. an oversized camouflage shirt and an Army hat. He, bare chested, combat boots, camouflage pants tucked into his boots and an army hat.
I leaned over and asked the person next to me, “What is that all about?”
“Upper and Lower GIs.”

lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
And, Lord, we pray for all the people who have been affected by the earthquakes and hurricanes.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
