I bunked in, miserable wet night and morning with a wet afternoon in the promise. 3.8 inches of rain overnight leaving a cool and clammy morning…sleeping weather. OK, good field exercise weather but that’s for younger and less retired troops.

A fine day so far, sand. I’m watching YouTubes of “Antiques Roadshow” from Britain. Have a bit of a tough time understanding some of the Empire accents, but generally get the gist. Such beautiful furniture and jewelry (my favorite featured objects).
Just viewed an episode which included a man who brought in a small suitcase of his father’s World War II letters and memorabilia which he hadn’t been able to bear opening until three days prior to being on air. Remaining unopened were the packets of letters his 18-year-old future father sent to his parents telling of life in a German POW camp. A few of the touching letters were read.

This quote (originally in Hebrew) is from October of 2001, was made in anger during a radio debate, and not an official opinion of the Israeli government. Also, Sharon is dead.
LikeLiked by 4 people
And what was the context? Exactly ‘what’ was he referring to controlling? If Israel was in ‘control’ of the US how does that explain capos like Fienstein, Schumer and Harv the Perv?
Problem with this uncontexted quote is it plays into the hands of anti-Semitic groups.
LikeLiked by 5 people
Exactly! If you do an internet search, that is mostly what you find. That’s why the context is so important.

Sharon was one of the original 19th century kibbutzim, if I can use that phrase. He fought in all of Israel’s wars, was a Haganah member and founded Unit 101. He was an unabashed Zionist and a major factor in Israel building settlements in territory it took from BORDERING NATIONS THAT INVADED Israel…a fine point frequently overlooked by Israel’s enemies like Syria, Egypt, and every US Democrativ president from Carter forwatd.
The US had presidents who wanted to placate Arabs who had the oil we needed (we see how that worked out) and were upset that Israel wouldn’t sacrifice some of her security and future for our sake…or rather the sake of major campaign contributors. Sharon was a brilliant militaty tactician and carried that skill over to his political life, his dedication to ‘Israel First’ and refusal to play US and EU games that endangered Israel’s position won him the active dislike of many US and European politicians. Sort of a kosher Trump.

His debate opponent, Shimon Perez, was contending that Israel should back off on Palestine or they would lose the support of the United States. His exact statement was that refusing to heed incessant American requests for a cease-fire with the Palestinians would endanger Israeli interests and “turn the US against us.”

“The History of every major Galactic Civilization tends to pass through three distinct and recognizable phases, those of Survival, Inquiry and Sophistication, otherwise known as the How, Why, and Where phases. In New Orleans that is rephrased to “What did you eat last night?”, “Where shall we eat lunch?” & “What, where & when shall we have dinner?”

I never really appreciated spinich until I was over 30 and now, like with cilantro, it works its way into a lot of things. A while back I was putting it on cheeseburgers instead of lettuce.

Spinach is great raw in salads and cooked if it’s added to other things. I don’t like straight spinach. Feel the same about kale. Cilantro is different, as there is a genetic component. It tastes like soap to me. A little in salsa is tolerable, but lots of it ruins dishes for me.

One time I mistakenly used cilantro in a shrimp marinade instead of flat leaf parsley. It was GHASTLY!

I believe that with cilantro it’s more of a matter of smell than taste as I find when you hold your nose and chew on a leaf it’s a different ‘taste’ than with an open nose. Czarina also gets the soap taste from ginger while I eat ginger straight…nose again. Either way…MORE FOR ME!

“Overall, Eriksson says these studies demonstrate that DNA does shape our opinion of cilantro, but probably not enough that we can’t overcome it. “It isn’t like your height, that you’re stuck with. People can change it,” he says.”
Why should I, when I can eat something I like, such as Italian parsley?

Outta repjy space. Two of her episodes that stuck with me: first one where she was trussing up a chicken for roasting, got carried away and chatted on while she made a sweater for the bird out of meat twine…chicken bondage. Second wa where, in to process of doin something, shr drops her tea towel on the floor and without a brean in thr narrative says: “…and as I retrieve my towel from my immaculately clean floor..” and goers right back without missing a beat.
Don’t know if I ever made anything she featured but I enjoyed the heck out of her presentation.

Afternoon, all.
Czar, if you hold your nose and eat almost anything, there’s no flavor. The nose is essential to experiencing flavor, and the mouth is essential to experiencing smell. It’s a strange synergy.
I’m going to try it (holding my nose) with a whole ripe habanero sometime. At first I thought, I’m not going to do that soon, but then I said “Wait. I can do that without holding my nose.” Let’s see if there’s less heat or not.

A sculpter we knew would hold a party after each of his bronze casting sessions. He knew my fondness for hot stuff so, during the partyy (this one featured grinders) he had one of his assistants dressed in fireproof leggings, facemask, elbow-length heavy gloves and shoulder-to-ankle leather vest come in holding a ripe habanero in a set of heavy iron tongs. Hebrought the pepper to me and, as the guesrs looked on, presented it to me. I thought ‘what the heck’ and ate it. I though the sculpter was going to have a heart attack, he’d apparently done it as a gag, not expecting me to actually ear it.
Moving ahead…so to speak…I didn’t show any outward signs of the fire that was consuming my mouth, going through my stomach and threatening what I though was my soul itself. All I can say if you do eat one is that the fire and pain will pass.
BTW, a long gone resturant in NOLA used to make a FANTASTIC roasted habanero salsa that was so good you couldn’t stop eating it. It was only about half as hot as the pre-roasted habanero would have been but the fire roasting and mixing made it a treat, especially with their totally fresh, ice cold magaritas. The chef would watch me eat it almost to the exclusion of anything else…and that fire would pass too.

Washington Island has a huge lavender industry that they are trying to mainstream. They have the candles, soaps, oils and that sort of thing but they grow a second “edible” lavender. It smells and tastes like soap, some people like it, 10 out 10 people I know who have tried it say it tastes like soap.
They make fudge, candies, tea and other food stuff with the lavender.
My friend says that they are refining the flavors and it tastes less like soap. She knows that I don’t drink any flavored teas but she brought me some lavender tea from the island for my daughters to try, my youngest smelled it (it smells like soap) and said nope I’m not trying it. My middle daughter is game but I haven’t seen her since I was given the tea.

My mother & I loved spinach so much we sometimes ate it right out of the can, didn’t even warm it up.
Recipe for spinach pie: thaw & squeeze out to drain 1 square block package frozen spinach (I think it’s about 10 oz.). Warm 4 oz cream cheese with 4 oz grated cheddar cheese until you can mix them together. Mix spinach in with 4 well beaten eggs & 4 chopped green onions. Put into a pie crust & bake at 350 till browned & toothpick comes out dry but don’t overbake. Good warm, or cold from the refrigerator. Travels well for picnics.

I think that President Trump has wormed his way into the MSM’s brain, they are starting to be afraid of being called fake news. There is no way the NYP would have published this even a year ago. While it doesn’t mention that the “Hands up don’t shoot” Mike Brown scenario is an absolute lie it does seem to be one of the least liberal articles published by the MSM in recent history.

Afternoon everyone! This morning at First Baptist Dallas was amazing! It was a beautiful service and getting to see Sean Hannity and Pastor Jeffress was a real treat. We had great seats and loved every minute of it. The sermon was perfect and on point, titled America at the Crossroads, Pastor Jeffress talked about the events in America’s history that have occurred in an effort to undermine the very foundations of our country, such as 1962 Engle vs. Vitale that removed prayer from school, in 1963 a ruling to end Bible reading in public schools, and in 1980 Roe vs. Wade. It was a powerful and timely message about how we must be the salt of the earth and light of the world to bring others to the Lord in a time when the left are trying hard to diminish our beliefs and destroy the family.
I hope everyone has a blessed Sunday!

Saving this, sending it to Chef. He grew up on her. And others. It’s why he’s Chef.
I need to remind him — I hope he watches it.
Last night, 5 people, including myself, almost walked out, because of his constant stream of angry, insulting, venomous rhetoric, and the inevitable pot-banging and tossing stuff so as to make the most noise.
They say misery loves company, so he endeavors to make every one around him miserable.
I, being the one to try and bring everyone UP, said at one point during the rush, “Kitchen’s doing really well tonight!” He yelled, “Yeah?? Easy for you to say! Wanna switch jobs with me??” All I was doing was complimenting the kitchen for doing well.
I wonder if Julia Child ever called all her servers a buncha “C***s**kers and M’fers” while trying to manage a whole 5 tickets with one error on one of them? Or the customers, for that matter? Or the young hostesses who announce new tables and seat them?
“The Joy Of Cooking”. He doesn’t have that, any more. I mean, yeah, he has the book.

http://www.dailywire.com/news/22585/jimmy-carter-unleashed-russians-didnt-alter-joseph-curl
I never thought I would praise Jimmy Carter for anything, but good for him!
Here are some major highlights from the interview:
1. The Russians didn’t steal the 2016 election.
Carter was asked “Did the Russians purloin the election from Hillary?”
“I don’t think there’s any evidence that what the Russians did changed enough votes — or any votes,” Carter said.
So the hard-left former president doesn’t think the Russians stole the election? Take note, Capitol Hill Democrats.
2. We didn’t vote for Hillary.
Carter and his wife, Roselyn, disagreed on the Russia question. In the interview, she “looked over archly [and said] ‘They obviously did'” purloin the election.
“Rosie and I have a difference of opinion on that,” Carter said.
Rosalynn then said, “The drip-drip-drip about Hillary.”
Which prompted Carter to note that during the primary, they didn’t vote for Hillary Clinton. “We voted for Sanders.”
3. Obama fell far short of his promises.
Barack Obama whooshed into office on pledges of delivering “hope and change” to the country, spilt by partisan politics.
He didn’t. In fact, he made it worse.
“He made some very wonderful statements, in my opinion, when he first got in office, and then he reneged on that,” he said about Obama’s action on the Middle East.
4. Media “harder on Trump than any president.”
A recent Harvard study showed that 93% of new coverage about President Trump is negative.
But here’s another shocker: Carter defended Trump.
“I think the media have been harder on Trump than any other president certainly that I’ve known about,” Carter said. “I think they feel free to claim that Trump is mentally deranged and everything else without hesitation.”
5. NFL players should “stand during the American anthem.”
Carter, who joined the other four living ex-presidents on Saturday for a hurricane fundraiser, put his hand on his heart when the national anthem played — and he has a strong opinion about what NFL players should do, too.
“I think they ought to find a different way to object, to demonstrate,” he said. ” I would rather see all the players stand during the American anthem.”

Interesting and unexpected comments.
He voted for Sanders? Oh, my!
I wonder what would have happened if he hadn’t given in to Rosalynn’s demand that he leave the Navy. Iran would not have fallen backwards two centuries, for one.

I’ve always felt Rosalynn is more lefterer than her great rabbit hunting hubby is.

I never doubted they’d vote for Sanders, I think their greatest single regret for the 2016 election was that Trotsky was too dead to run.

Bill was a helluva sculptor and so far rightwing it was hard to see him at times without the Hubble.
There was the night where, in his huge studio, we ate pizza, drank beer and shot at rats running across the sand where his castings cooled with a MAC-10.
Then there was the time the city put parking meters all along the street by his studio. The area was just off one of the projects and his studio and a big gourmet store anchored and gentrified the area. The meters were only along the side of the street and from corner to corner on the block the store and his styudio were on. Bill was pissed. Then the night he’d scheduled a casting, the meters were gone, each neatly cut off with a big pipe cutter just under the meter box. Never did find out who did it, but some guests that night found a parking meter right next to their dining place setting…no idea how it got there or who put them there. Still have mine.

Great story Czar! I can only imagine what fun those parties were. Meters as party favors. Someone should suggest that in Chicago. Once I parked by the Art Institute it was something like 2.00 for 15 minutes, with a 15 minute limit. There is other parking and I can’t remember why I had to park on the street. Thankfully I didn’t get towed and arrived back just in time to drive away before the officer was going to write me a ticket.

NOLA started hiring a private company to issue parking tickets, the company got money for each ticket it wrote regardless of if the ticket were paid. They’d ticket marked police cars, threy’d ticket serv ice vehicles like gas trucks, UPS/FEDEX trucks, etc that were double parked on city streets as they ran in to do business, Most businesses would hold the tickets and negotiate a price with the city, we’d just pile ’em up in a desk drawer and dump ’em when the drawer got too full…the city couldn’t keep track of ticket payments as it were so it made no difference.

Wow, sounds like a Chicago wanna be 😎. Did I ever tell the story about the tollway booths when they used to throw quarters into baskets and employees carrying bags full of quarters to their car and tossing them in their trunk ?

Yup, it’s Chicago – NOPD’s uniforms are almost same as Chicago’s except for the hat.
Back in late-80s/early-90s When the 2nd bridge across the Mississippi was built tolls were put on it to pay for it. Tolls were basically unaccounted for and after a year or two when revenues coming in didn’t meet expectations or car counts the state had auditors go in. Auditors found that from the time the dollar left your hand and went to the state it was unsupervised and unaccounted for. Personnel taking the money took it, stuffed it into a box and when it waqs time the container was taken to the office and stacked up.
Auditors found bags of money in desks, lockers, on desks with no records or receipts and no records telling how much of the money collected ever made it to the state. Lotta people got fat off of that.
State bordered changes but didn’t effectively supervise the implermentation of those changes so, when they returned months later to see how things were going…guess what? Sound like Chicago south?

Chi town. Yep. Now that tolls are automated I think there is more accountability, the biggest hit came with the I-Pass, most cars just zip through and the toll collectors never see a dime of the money.

I’m sure there is but it is a heck of a lot harder than the days of quarter bags supposedly the lift gate counts the cars that go through the manned booths.

McConnell to End Senate’s ‘Blue Slip’ Tradition
The elimination of the longtime practice, by which senators could veto a judicial nominee from their home state, is seen as a way to fast-track conservative picks for federal judgeships.

lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
And, Lord, we pray for all the people who have been affected by the earthquakes and hurricanes.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
