Glad to hear from you, Colonel. What would we do without music! Just about any variety (except rap) is good for a listen. If someone were to ask me what is my favorite kind of music, I couldn’t answer. I only have fav songs or performances or musicians. Give me ZZ Top and “Rough Boy” or Frank Sinatra and “I Think Of You” or Luciano Pavarotti and “Nessun Dorma” or most anything by Ella Fitzgerald and I’m a happy camper.

        • Lucille, I’m not sure if these will help your anti-Trump relative, but maybe if she could see that the media collaborate and collude on their stories against him, purely out of hatred, she could see that they are on the wrong side.

Thanks! This is a good choice.

She claims not to get her ideas from the media…like how can you make a judgment on a person if you don’t have some media input such as watching speeches or interactions with crowds. She says she observes him and finds that he’s an egotistical, narcissistic bumbler. How do you get those opinions if you don’t follow him on media? It’s obvious she’s been watching cherry-picked snippets.

Now, I’m not claiming he doesn’t have a big ego. But is that really a bad thing when it comes to getting a job done? But narcissistic? Not from my observations. He’s confident and opinionated and way above average at what he’s done all his life. People who know him personally like him and find him fun to be around. They know he’s a hard worker. His employees find him challenging to work with but fair.

Yes, so when you get your info from those who hate him, you’re not getting “fair and balanced” input.

That’s why he spends so much time taking selfies with people and stopping his motorcade to interact with his supporters! Just like Odummer!

I’m sorry, Lucille. It’s got to be hard trying to interact with her and stay nice about it, particularly when she’s got her mind made up.

            • He’s been successful at everything he’s done and I feel like he’s very confident. The biggest thing to me is that he genuinely loves our country. He’s not apologizing for it, he just wants to see America be the best it can be. It’s sad that some people refuse to see that. I truly hope it helps! 🙂

Repair service is still waiting to hear from the parts supplier on when the valve will be shipped. Not an unusual problem with Trane I’m told – told by 3 dfifferent and not connected in three different cities in two states. When this baby finally breaks the Trane will have left the station, I’m researching other brands right now.

I have a family friend that’s an HVAC contractor, stay away from Carrier, they’re even worse than Trane on having parts that fail and only can be bought from Carrier. Several different parts that are prone to fail and then Carrier won’t even let contractors buy the parts unless they become a Carrier dealer and you can’t just go in and write a check, use a credit card or pay cash, you must have a charge account with them. The only one you have to do with. Because of these practices and contractors who do jump through their hoops must wait days/weeks for the parts, then end up sitting at their counter for hours to get it, a lot of contractors have just quit working on Carrier. Around here there is only one guy who still works on Carrier.

RUUD/RHEEM have issues with coils leaking, but at least they don’t make contractors jump through hoops to get them.
Trane used to be his most hated brand, but he says Carrier has taken over his most hated brand. He says the crap they’ve put out in the last 3 or 4 years is pure junk, which is why they’ve changed their policies, it’s the only way they can keep dealers is to force them to be dealers.

To be honest according to him, regardless of brand anymore they all have issues. He recommends getting the cheapest brand and not worry about name. The cheaper non-big name brands according to him at least it’s easy to get parts and their issues tend to not be as rampant and parts that fail are easier to change out and their warranties are about the same as the big name brands at sometimes half the cost.

It’s pretty much the same for appliances, they might say made in America but if you need a part it comes from China.

I wouldn’t hold out a lot of hope for any kind of Hollyork moral epiphany, this ain’t the first time they’ve had their corrupt underbelly exposed to the light.
Far too many fawning fans are more desperate to vicariously share the stars’ fantasy lives than they are to face the reality. “Oh no”. they say in unison. “that’s the other guy, not MY hero!”. Meanwhile stars not wishing to have their foibles exposed tighten ranks, stone the offender and hope the public looks away from them or – worst case – thinks the other guy’s sins are worse.
They just don’t live in the same moral universe as the rest of us. we’re merely the means to their ends. Our morals don’t apply, our mores don’t apply, our laws don’t apply to them. The entertainment business has long attracted corrupt people and corrupted people attracted to it, and we still excuse their excesses. I may seem cynical but I really don’r see an end to the cycle.

Had to take a break therre and have a couple of bottled nerve tonics…another day at Wally World.
Place was CROWDED, about half the lanes were open. I pick a lane, right behind someone buying groceries for a Syrian refugee camp, and park. Other smiling shoppers line up behind me and like the defenders at Chosin…I’m trapped.
I finally get it, I’m in a ‘learn while you learn’ lane. There’s a new cashier being trained, they’ve thrown her into the deep end and told her to swim…at least they gave her a mentor.
After a long wait while she finished the refugee run, the shopper also had multiple requests for this/that/or the other to be rung up seperately…my turn. Now I am particular on how I load stuff on the belt, I have a plan for how it goes back into the cart. I bagged groceries in high school and undergrad school so I’m fussy…also how it goes into my vehicle. While I’m still unloading I look up…customer ahead of me’s gone, belt’s not moving and there’s about 2 feet between my first items and her hand. I look up at her, she gives me a blank stare…I motion with my hand for her to move the groceries up…2nd blank stare…mentor says “move the belt”…sudden knowing glance and groceries move.
I’m guiding things that go into bags, mentioing that if she’s going to put three big bottles of Clamato into one bag it would be advisable to double bag it. I’m mentioing that the small cucumbers she entered into the regoster are zucchini…lesson on backing out entries and reinputting. I got distracted during the lesson, she puts my cilantro into a bag and I get suddenly undistracted as I watch her start to put a 5-pound bag of oranges right on top of the cilantro. Just getting my concentration back I make some aganol grunt. point and the mentor stops and says ‘don’t put the bag of oranges on top of the cilantro dear, it bruises it.” “Bruise hell, it composts it!” Just about the time I think I’m there she picks up one of two bags of two carefully selected red bell peppers and drops them into the carryout bag from shoulder height…just before I catch my breath the mentor turns to her and says ‘don’t drop the produce dear, gently place it in the bag.” The bag with the peppers doesn’t move and as she prepares to drop a can of Rotel in I spin the carousel and rescue them.
I loaded up the car and drove over to our locally owned grocery store as they not only carry a lot of stuff Wally World doesn’t but it’s a relaxing and restorative place where shoppers seem to be happy shopping in and employees seem happy to be working in.
    Wonder if Amazon delivers cilantro?

I think the Islamization of Scandanavia has more to do with their liberal ennui and the European cultural malaise than their finding solace in the Religion of Murder and misogyny.
I don’t get too carried away though, although the Vikings are known to have gone well into Moslem territories in their trading routes they were murdering, raping, pillaging and plundering long before their meeting the Moslems.

  10. So I got more books on WWII yesterday which has created a reading pile-up. It’s gonna be a busy weekend.

I am getting tired of the comparison between Jews fleeing Nazi Germany and refugees fleeing Islam. (Do people who write books about WWII know nothing about Islam?)

These Muslim refugees are fleeing the problem they created. They refuse to address any of Islam’s many, many problems, whether it’s simply hygiene issues or wars between different Muslim sects. I don’t see how this is comparable to the Nazis. The Muslims create the problems, then run way under the guise of refugees. The Christians and Yazidis and other religious minorities who are actually being persecuted, however, can’t get out for anything.

And then, rather then being grateful they escaped and assimilating to their new culture, Muslims who do immigrate act like spoiled children and demand that their new countries do whatever they want. Funny, I don’t hear a lot of stories about Jews doing that after fleeing Nazi Germany.

This “Muslim refugees are equal to Jews fleeing Hitler’s Germany” is irritating, like nails down a chalkboard.

Probably one of the Congressmen getting those Alzheimer drugs that a local druggist says he delivers to Capitol Hill:

Frail and disoriented, Cochran says he’s not retiring

    http://www.politico.com/story/2017/10/18/thad-cochran-says-not-retiring-senate-243918

The 79-year-old Cochran appeared frail and at times disoriented during a brief hallway interview on Wednesday. He was unable to answer whether he would remain chairman of the Appropriations Committee, and at one point, needed a staffer to remind him where the Senate chamber is located.

“Don’t believe everything you hear,” Cochran said in a low voice when asked whether he plans to retire after 44 years in office.

However, when queried about whether he would stay on as Appropriations chairman, Cochran seemed confused and just repeated the question. “As chairman of the Appropriations Committee?” Cochran asked.

Cochran had to be guided by staffers around a security checkpoint inside the Capitol. He started to walk into a first-floor room — though the Senate chamber is on the second floor. He was then ushered by an aide up to the Senate.

When another reporter asked whether leadership had pressured Cochran to return for a vote on the budget resolution — a key moment in the tax reform debate — Cochran smiled and responded, “It’s a beautiful day outside.”

Cochran sat quietly in his seat during Wednesday’s lengthy vote session. He smiled and responded when a fellow senator stopped by to offer greetings, but generally did not speak to anyone else.

On one amendment, Cochran voted “yes” despite being told by an aide to vote “no.” The staffer tried to get the senator to switch his vote, but Cochran kept flashing the “thumbs up” sign, even walking over to the clerk tallying the vote and doing so. GOP floor staffers repeatedly told him the leadership wanted a “no” vote. Several more moments passed before Cochran realized he was voting the wrong way and then changed his vote…

Truth catches up with the effort to abolish the Electoral College

IHe pushes for NPV because it is the easiest possible route to change. “Amending the Constitution is very hard,” he complains, ignoring that this was precisely the founders’ point in making it so. Reich prefers something easy, the Founders’ intent be damned. If NPV is enacted with the support of just a few states, Reich concludes, then “it’s done. We’ll never again elect a President who loses the popular vote.”

He surely wishes that were true. But it’s not. NPV does not create a magical solution where “it’s done,” never to be dealt with again. To the contrary, states will be able to pop in and out of the contract.

For example, does anyone really expect Massachusetts to remain a signatory if it sees the writing on the wall and thinks that Donald Trump is about to win the national popular vote? And when the Bay State bails, other states would try to stop it. Someone would sue. The presidential election system would be in a constant state of upheaval. None of this is good for America.

Unfortunately, this small example barely scratches the surface. The logistical difficulties created by NPV are numerous and will end up overwhelming the system, as even the originators of the plan concede…
