A day late…but it’s been an extremely stressful evening dealing with a member of my family who has Trump Derangement Syndrome TO.THE.MAX. Having to be very careful in my replies, not only because I love her but because she is very fragile emotionally, has literally exhausted me physically.

So sorry to hear you’re dealing with TDS and other issues, Lucille. Day late? pfft. Blessings are rarely late! Sending hugs your way.

      • She’s emotionally fragile? Why would she talk about this at all?

If you don’t mind me asking, what’s the story behind that? I would have thought that an emotionally fragile person would leave politics alone. Other people online won’t be as considerate in their answers as you have been.

“Emotionally fragile” was a bit of a euphemism. She’s majorly neurotic and has made very poor life choices in many areas. With her mood swings she may have an undiagnosed case of bi-polar disorder, IMO. She says she has sought out counseling. If so, it hasn’t done any good. Anyway, it’s family and you just deal with situations best as you can.

Over the years it been my observation that unbalanced people not only talk about politics, they enter it.

      • Sorry Lucille. (((hugs))) My older DD and her husband are supposedly conservative libertarians, or some such thing, but they’ve bought into the “muhhh Russians” thing, from watching too much CNN. It’s very disheartening and I try to avoid discussions about politics with her, but sometimes it comes up and always ends with both of us frustrated. You have my sympathy. For you : 💐🌹🌷🌸🌺🌼

My SIL is quite liberal, so liberal that after a Reagan-based ‘discussion’ in the early 80s we didn’t speak until earlier this year, and even then it was ‘cocktail party’ and avoided anything to do with politics.

He’s being very nice… my sister & her husband are such rabid left wing democrats they don’t talk to my brother any more ( or maybe he can’t talk to them b/c he’s possibly more right leaning than Czar). I tread carefully & always think before I open my mouth around them. I’m rather middle of the road “purple state” in my thinking. Love all of them but it’s work (like a cat in a room full of rocking chairs!).

          • It’s hard for me to keep quiet because I’ve been so involved in politics since 2007. I think my son-in-law, whom I love dearly, has had great influence over my DD’s views on politics.

uh…there is help for you…as well as for her….but you are not the one to help her, IMO

Does something in your life seem out of control? If so, it is time to let God handle it. Whether it is an emotional upset, a mental block, a physical challenge, or a relationship problem, the solution for each is the same:

Let Go! Let God handle it all!

not being flip or smartA….the process is the same for trying to “fix” anyone else to conform to our norm and behavior. the foundation of Al-Anon, families of Alcoholics has the right idea…as well as the AA 12 steps for recovery of the Alcoholic…or person exhibiting what is irrational behavior or ideals…

Alcoholism has played a large role in my family dynamics, especially my father’s side of the family, but also with my sister’s children…which includes the person I spoke of originally. Literally, praises to God my father was not so afflicted.

I attended Al-Anon for some time when my residence was in another city and that was to assist a young homeless girl of my acquaintance. It was also helpful in dealing with some of my family incidents. Very worthwhile organization.

      • Joshua, I’m sure there’s a chance of that happening, but I posted it because what this gentleman did, to honor the victims, is a beautiful expression of love from his heart. I enjoy reading your posts and I don’t deny you have a point, but it would be really nice if you could just appreciate this man’s generosity for what it is.

        • Unfortunately, s&s, my mind went where joshua’s went.

It’s not so much a comment on the man’s work, it’s lovely and should stay up at the very least until a more permanent monument is erected. He showed great compassion and thought in what he did. But we live in a culture that made Columbine students take down tiles in honor of the victims that the students had put Bible verses on.

Some liberal will go into hysterics that would Dracula look sane and reasonable at the sight of these crosses.

          • I understand and know that is the reality we live in and I had the same concerns when I first saw the picture, but I guess my point is that we can have the thoughts but hope for the best, trying to be positive about things. I want to post things that are uplifting as much as I can. There is much more good in our country than evil, thankfully.

I just made a tub of mango ice cream. The recipe called for vanilla. I would substitute lime juice next time.

Since I am lactose intolerant, I used Lacteeze enzyme drops to treat the cream for a few days. I think this would also be good with full-fat coconut milk.

–Victor Davis Hanson, from an interview by Hugh Hewitt

“When I leave Selma in the San Joaquin Valley and I go to Palo Alto, I think I’ve gone from Venus to Mars. I mean, it’s only three hours away. But everything about it, from the per capita income to the accent to the comportment of people, is just completely different. They feel that they’re much more in common with Mumbai and Paris and London than they do with Fresno, which is much closer, of course.

So there’s a divide here. And it’s cultural. And I wish that the Republican establishment would react to it and start to be a little bit more empathetic. And it’s the irony that somebody like Trump saw that in a way that more sophisticated political observers did not.

And I think it had something to do with building things and having that Queens accent and walking around Manhattan and talking to cement layers and bricklayers and welders in a way that other people may not have.

But there was something. There must have been something there other than just pure political opportunism that he saw that had been missing in the Republican calculus. And those 16 other candidates were far more experienced politically. Tragically, none of them saw it. And he did. And when he started talking about Trump breaking that blue wall, they thought he was absurd. But he wasn’t.”

We are tired of paying the bills for thugs who hate us, because of liberal rich people who use us, while they look at us with scorn.

I don’t have as much money or education as a Silicon Valley executive. That doesn’t make me less than they are, and frankly, I think I am actually smarter than some of them. Especially in measuring common sense.

    lilbirdee12’s prayer:

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

And, Lord, we pray for all the people who have been affected by the earthquakes and hurricanes.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
