I have a feeling that President Trump is the kind of man who has charisma especially when you meet him in person.
I confess that, although I support his policies, voted for him, and want him to be reelected, I don’t feel drawn to him at all, and he isn’t a powerful speaker, although he says the right things. Melania Trump is delightful.

I believe you are right on powerful speaker.
However what he says he says from his heart and I don’t think its a bunch of lies like most politicians. Hey wait he isn’t a normal politicians is he.

I only speak for myself. I didn’t know much about Donald Trump prior to the time he announced for President. I never watched his television program.
I simply don’t find him personally compelling most of the time, and I do believe he says things without thinking.
He does the right things most of the time, and his policies are good. I support him.

President Trump I believe is a warm soul, he genuinely likes people which is the opposite of the the cold hearted people hater that is Obama. I think people are always surprised by his warmth. The people who met him at the hospital who didn’t expect to like him, liked him and they couldn’t even put their finger on what they liked about him.
Most of the responses we hear from people like our VP Pence and a large assortment of other people after they meet Trump and get to know him is that he is a good man, he genuinely cares about people, I think that warmth or genuine spirit comes through especially when you meet him in person.
Did you see the look Melania gave the press during one of the pressers recently? Unfortunately I can’t find a clip that shows it but it is obvious that she holds her husband’s sentiments about fake news. If looks could kill.
Love her.

This young woman is who I was thinking of, they can’t put words to the man who is POTUS as their minds have been structured to believe that President Trump is who the MSM paints him to be. But when they meet him or go to one of his events their eyes are opened to a new reality. Finding the right words to explain a new reality is difficult for anyone.
LikeLiked by 1 person
I don’t think it’s just what the MSM paints him to be. For me, he doesn’t project his true nature on television. In contrast, look at Ronald Reagan on film.
LikeLiked by 1 person
I don’t know. I think President Trump does project his true self on TV and in his tweets. I think he is a balanced man and I know that he honors the specific role that he is in at the time.
In the hospital he is a comforter.
At his rallies he is a vote getter, an ego booster, an unapologetic proud American.
At dinners with world leaders he is polite but firm.
President Trump lives the Art of Deal.
At the UN he was President of the United States he said I will put America first and all of you should put your country first.
He is a vicious counter puncher which I know many people find distasteful. I personally like it.
Reagan was savaged by the MSM. I believe it was Larry Speakes, Reagan’s Press Secretary who was the first to adamantly call out the MSM’s perpetual bias.
I guess my thought is even if Trump was more Reaganesque the MSM has become so vile and corrupt that they would savage him just as viscously.

Lovely, it is my individual perception. I support President Trump, but I see how his public persona can be off putting, and not indicative of his true nature. Some – not all – of his tweets and statements are ill considered and only cause him trouble, I think. I will agree to disagree with you here.
Nobody is perfect – not even Donald Trump.
LikeLiked by 1 person
I agree that he isn’t perfect and hope I don’t come across as thinking he is perfect, I’ve been critical of him.
I am just sharing my personal perspective not trying to convince you that you should change yours. I think more people share your personal perspective than mine.
I’m out for most of the day. Have beautiful day Stella.

Good Morning, S&S! Today is phase 2 in the great Christmas treat bake-a-thon. I’ve decided this year to send a s’mores kit to the grandchildren in Missouri. Yesterday I tested two different graham cracker recipes. Today, on to the marshmallows! (I’m going to try a couple of different flavors, including some coffee/mocha for the adults.)

I love food. All kinds of food. Sweet, hot, savory, salty. But put me near store marshmallows and my gag reflex kicks in. However much I loathe ordinary marshmallows, the homemade version doesn’t affect me the same way. I’ve made marshmallows successfully in the past so the flavoring was what I was going to experiment with. But I’ll gladly post pics once I get to them!
Instead, today I went in a totally different direction. I’m making a 100% sourdough bread (which I used my grape starter for) and a Dios Beigly – Hungarian Walnut Roll.
Can’t wait to see how the Biegly turns out….if successful it will be another Christmas treat for the family.

Good Friday Morning Stella. Made the marshmallows this morning – mocha, flavored with espresso and cocoa. Found this really REALLY easy recipe (no candy thermometer, no corn syrup) and so far, so good. Once they’re cut I’ll try for a photo…..right now they are quietly sitting in the corner for a couple of hours and their ‘current status’ pic looks completely uninteresting.

Because of all the news and all the disasters, murders, floods, hurricanes & fires over the past month, my news isn’t all that important, but I wanted to let you all know how our lovely dusting of snow turned out.
As of yesterday our county has been declared a disaster area. Yep, we went from having a beautiful lazy snowfall to dealing with a powerful snowstorm that knocked over power poles, damaged buildings, & shut down roads, businesses and entire towns.
The police, fire crews and public works departments have been busy putting up power poles (at least 200 poles in the immediate vicinity went down in the storm), clearing up the streets, (there is not one street in town that doesn’t have at least one tree down) and the officials are urging the public not to clean up the debris as the landfills can’t handle the volume. We also still have towns that are without power but the power crews have done an amazing job with the mess and they are not slowing down.
I have approximately fifteen trees on my property that formed a canopy on the west and south street. Every single tree snapped and it looks like a war zone on my lawn and in my street. The neighbor’s tree on the south side turned into a battering ram and I spent the afternoon cutting out a major limb that punched through the wall of my garage. I ‘m still trying to figure out how I’m gonna tackle the tree that fell across the driveway, however, I have my power back after being without for the last few days and that makes me a very warm and happy person.
There were no casualties due to the storm and as of this morning the roads to the hospital are have now been cleared and it sounds like schools will be reopening today, at least in the towns that have power. Good news is, it looks like we’re in for warmer weather which should thaw the ice and make removing debris a little easier.
This was definitely one heck of an opener for the winter season.

Wow! It’s truly a miracle everyone made it through okay. Glad you’ve got power and the weather is improving. What area are you in?
LikeLiked by 3 people
It truly was a blessing that no one was hurt or injured but I credit the weather service which began issuing winter storm warnings early in the day and everyone had plenty of time to prepare.
(The last picture featured is actually the south corner of my yard….and let me tell ya, quite a shock opening the paper this morning and seeing the picture)

My first thought was that this was a joke. 😯 Then I realized it wasn’t. I’m just blown away by that happening, and so early. I mean, it has cooled off down here in FL, but you could still stand outside at 11:00 at night in a wet bathing suit and not get chilled. 🙄 That kind of “cooled off”.
LikeLiked by 3 people
:0) When I lived in the mountains, October snow storms were common, however, here on the flat lands, I don’t remember a storm coming in earlier than the last week of October, so this storm was unusual.
“Cooled off” here means seeing one’s breathe while bundled beneath a whole bunch of quilts and the only good use for a swim suit is to stuff in the cracks of the door caused by the generator cords.

That’s terrible! Sounds like an ice storm. We had an ice storm in April one year. I was at work at the time. We watched as the increasingly heavy coat of ice destroyed the beautiful trees on our property. Our power was out for days. The odd thing was that the ice didn’t get as far south as where I live, so I had a few days off work with no affect at my house.
LikeLiked by 4 people
I experienced those ice storms while living in Oregon and you’re right, although we received about a foot and a half of snow, it was definitely the wind and the weight of the ice that did most of the damage.

Understand, two of my sons and I were elk hunting around Red Feather Lake a few years ago and a ‘light’ snowstorm was predicted. We set up the tent, expecting a light storm only be hit with tropical storm force winds, 20-ish degree temps and two-plus feet of snow overnight.
Sympathize with your tree issue too, it’s like losing a good friend and your yard looks bare. My Katrina tree story was losing between 11-and-14 thousand 20+ year old pines on our farm. The financial loss is one thing but the feelings you get when you see your property being so visually changed is another. Replanting the lost trees helps.
LikeLiked by 6 people
Oh man czar, I so feel for you and the loss of your trees, how sad.
The trees around my home were a sorry sight when we bought our house five years ago and I’ve been babying them and having them professionally trimmed every year and now, seeing the damage and knowing that they won’t survive the harsh winter is heartbreaking.
Also, saw that you made the wife go huck all the heavy groceries….some people will go to any extremes just to get out of grocery shopping. :0) (Hope your knee is doing better today)

Lemme guess…cottonwood trees? In Utah we had cottonwoods that would shed limbs during the infrequent ‘heavy-snow’ storms.
Yeah, trees become family if you work with and live with them. We hand planted 300 longleaf pines ten years ago and baby them, some are over 30 feet tall now. We’ve selectively thinned volunteer oaks and maples as they’re free, native and fully rooted unlike nursery trees and we sweat each storm still.
When you live on a farm 8 miles from the closest gas station, and the gas station sells 5-gallon pails of hydraulic fluid and PVC trailer plumbing fittings, a trip to a rural Louisiana city that houses a huge paper mill AND a Walmart, is almost a tropical (albeit sulfur scented) vacation. I was just allowing her to bask in the experience, it’s all about sharing.
Knee’s much better.

They can be beautiful trees, but they drip sap that can remove car paint, they drop seed pods that sprout up wherever they land and they drop branches if you even look at them sideways.
However, they do grow in cold temperatures, they grow quickly and if well tended they have a fairly long life span, all the traits that are highly favored by city planners in colder locales.

I remember the beautiful elms in the towns near where I lived in Illinois in the 1960’s – before they were all cut down. Beautiful arches over the streets. Just lovely.
LikeLiked by 1 person
That sounds like our oak trees, which probably wouldn’t survive in a cold climate, but otherwise sound the same. I pay for a car port to keep from parking under them because the sap ruins the finish on the car, the nuts hurt when they hit you on the head and they drop branches constantly.
LikeLiked by 1 person
I agree aus….the two trees are very similar in their “dirty” ways, yet both are beautiful in their own right. I don’t have to deal with the falling acorns tho, so I think I’ll stick with the elms. :0)

These make really good shade, but they have to be kept trimmed to let the breezes through so they don’t fall over in the wind.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Live oaks here don’t drop sap, but acorns, catkins & all their leaves in spring, which is an awful mess (plus makes me allergic). We have native sweet gum trees all over our property, which drip sticky stiff all over, & balls covered with spikes which are painful to bare feet.
LikeLiked by 1 person
They shed leaves year round here, but are never completely bare. But, that sap can eat into the paint on your car if you don’t keep it cleaned off.

I hadn’t pieced together your location yet – now I have somewhat! I grew up NE of Culbertson/Roosevelt County. My nephew was a police officer in Great Falls many years ago.
Great Falls area is such high and wide open Montana prairie. Had dear friends from high school years who lived on a huge wheat farm near Conrad. (High school = Dakota Lutheran Academy in Minot, ND where a lot of us rural kids safely [in several ways, I guess] spent our high school years).

Karen and I would often meet in the gym on the weekend and “tear up the piano” playing four-handed gospel songs. We both loved any kind of gospel music and she was the most amazing and fun pianist. Far better than me, technically, but she didn’t care – we just went after it!
On the weekends there were often very feew students left at Dak Luth because any of them that lived close enough _50-100 miles) would go home so there would just a handful of us there to enjoy ourselves.
I talked with her at some length about ten years ago. Over the years she had had many piano opportunities due to her excellence and had participated in programs at Tanglewood at least once. I can’t speak to details.
I haven’t had frequent contact with her but she was one of my high school buddies that did carry over in a variety of ways over the decades. Love it that you know them!

Yeah, you save alot of money when the regular shopper is laid up & someone else does the work. Tuesday, I had to go when czar had his knee incident. Per the list, I bought a 58# bag of dog food, 2 25# bags cat litter, a 25# bag cat food, 2 bottles ammonia. The only thing I bought off the list was tomatoes for a salad. Czar is the designated shopper & always returns with bags & bags of impulse buys like party sized bags of chips which my hips do not need!

wait…..I second the motion on buying party sized bags of chips…much better snacks than a bag of dog food or cat litter….and cat food makes a terrible sandwich IMO..and who really uses ammonia when you have animals…they generate enough ammonia in their urine already….lol

Unanimous among cats, they says they’ll take your cat food sandwiches, all you can provide. As for your cat litter sandwich comment I can infer that you’re not a fan of the clown’s fish sandwiches then?
Ammonia’s great for dealing with ammonia produced by pet accidents, washing out cat boxes and makes a passable sauce for the aforementioned fish sandwich.

This is a great article about realism in art, and a great organization:

I just heard of this today, watching a Paul Joseph Watson video on YouTube, The Truth About Modern Art, which is so NSFW, cussword-wise that I’ll just leave it at that.
(Love that guy.)
PJW says in his video, Imagine if an Olympic couples figure skaters team just decided to fall on the ice a lot, or throw each other down, and got the Gold? That’s modern art. Art requires refined skill at something. The only art in “modern art” is the art of convincing taxpayers to pay for it.
Actual normal people pay for good art, because it’s skillful and beautiful.

I made it through about 39 minutes at this point. Peterson says that as a man he doesn’t know how to deal with rabid feminists because the methods he would use with dealing with other men can’t be used to deal with women.
Any thoughts on that, folks? Peterson thinks that women need to deal with feminists, but from my experience dealing with them online, you can’t deal with them. They won’t use reason and they don’t bother to try. It’s crazy.

Too many different kinds of rabid feminists to categorize or even deal with, why waste irreplaceable lifetime? Dating back to the feminist shock troops of the 70s even then the movement was splintering into different factions with different agendas.
I dealt with it by utilizing the ‘each one save one’ method and throwing myself on a rabid feminist as if she were a hand grenade….I married her. Keep her sedated with a steady diet of carb-heavy bags of chips.

Late Bill Ludwig, a local sculptor who worked in bronze, complained heavily about ‘public art’. Some time back a local arteest was awarded a contract accompanied by a big check for some public art. Discussing that particular piece of art Bill picked up a sheet of light metal from his work bench, a pair of heavy scissors and, as he talked, quickly turned out a miniature copy of a piece of the multiple pieces sold to government.
Not being an enlightened connoisseur of art I realize that I lack the bona fides to dare comment on such but I can remember Bill spending a year casting and assembling the pieces of the NOLA Vietnam memorial at the Dome. The worked that you could see the thread patterns on the life sized figures and some of the serial numbers on the weapons used for the lostwax mold. Quite a difference from snipping some sheet metal, slapping on some paint and cashing the check. But what the heck do I know, see disclaimer in first sentence.

Most public art is “Postmodern”, and I hate it. It doesn’t mean anything. It doesn’t even point to anything above us. Look up Calder.
What the F is that, my friends. What is it??! It’s publicly-funded nonsense.

My wife and I checked into the old, rundown Tavistock Hotel in London in March of 1990, and on the wall in our room was a picture frame held to the wall with a wood screw in the left ear and a nail pounded halfway into the right ear and bent over.
In the frame was sagging sheet of tissue or rice paper with a crayon drawing of a rooster.
“Ha! Look at the chicken!”, I said.
Then I looked closer, and noted the distinctness of the colors, and the quality of line, and thought, “this is actually pretty good”.
Then I noticed the signature in the bottom right corner.
It was a Picasso.

Tonight at work, I swear to you this is true, our line cook for 7 years told us all:
He and his new wife bought a house in a nearby town. He’s good guy. He said the house still had all the framed pictures on the wall. He grew UP in this house, and bought it from his auntie. They wanted to remodel, and they, in the house he grew up in, removed the many framed pictures from the walls, so as to repaint, and all.
Every single picture was hiding a hole in the drywall. Like, big wholes. Every single one. Our whole kitchen was laughing about this tonight.
I asperg’d and asked, “Were the pictures nice, through?”

Srsly. Every single picture on the wall of the house he bought was covering a giant hole in the drywall. He spent $800 on sheetrock to fix it, but just imagine the shock when you realize it? And you pretty much grew up in that house? The only reason those framed pictures were on the wall, all over the house, in odd locations, vertically, was to cover giant holes in the drywall.
That is so incredibly funny. It happened years ago.

I just can’t get over how many in comment sections and even articles across the internet claiming it didn’t happen at all. How bonkers can people get? There were people from all over the country there, including some from our state who won a trip to the concert from a local radio station. They were not injured. Do people honestly believe they got people from all over to play along with a big act? They claim no video of dead and injured. I guess all the pictures were fake and all of those people the POTUS and FLOTUS met were just actors in the hospital.
It’s starting to get really annoying with links to stupid crap showing up in my newsfeed, can’t even read comment sections of some blogs I enjoy reading without the stupidity.
I’m not near as against conspiracy theories as you are and have my tinfoil hat at all times when it comes to the government, but crazy I don’t do well. Harping on the same crap that has been debunked like the 4th story windows bugs the heck out of me. The problem is these people can watch the videos showing the flashes before and after the shooting and they’ll keep claiming there was a shooter on the 4th floor.
Rant over for now. lol

Judicial Watch representing Clarice Feldman in her lawsuit against DC Government
http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2017/10/judicial_watch_representing_clarice_feldman_in_her_lawsuit_against_dc_government.html
… Federal law requires that DC’s annual budget be approved by a majority or two-thirds vote of the DC Council and have affirmative appropriation passed by both Houses of Congress and presented to the president for signing. In 2013, DC passed the Budget Autonomy Act of 2012, which “purportedly grants the District authority to incur obligations and expend local tax and fee revenue without an appropriation passed by both Houses of Congress and presented to the President for signing.” In other words, DC has sought to remove appropriation authority from Congress and grant it to itself.
“This is quite simply a case of politicians gone wild. The DC government acts as if it can violate federal law and ignore the U.S. Constitution without repercussions,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “It is a federal crime to spend federal dollars without congressional authorization.”
The first hearing in the lawsuit was Tuesday, and it lasted an hour and a half.

Social Justice Warrior who stole MAGA hat to face justice system
http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2017/10/social_justice_warrior_who_stole_maga_hat_to_face_justice_system.html
Last week, a remarkable video was seen by millions of viewers on YouTube, showing a UC Riverside student stealing a MAGA hat and refusing to give it back. I wrote about it here, as a symptom an actual, serious, long-term revolutionary movement underway in the United States. The progressive cant uttered by the student, identified now as Edith Masias, reveals the brainwashing she has received: a mindset that utterly rejects the laws and customs of society.
Now, the victim of the theft, Matthew Vitale, who debates her on the video, has filed charges against her, and because of her subsequent actions, the charges may rise to the level of felony. Milo Yiannopoulos’s site Milo reports:
Vitale, a member of UC Riverside College Republicans, says he has decided to press criminal theft charges against her. He had first declined to press charges after being told it would only be a misdemeanor, but decided later to do so after Macias herself uploaded a video on Facebook titled #SnatchAHat, which showed her grabbing the hat off his head.
“’Make America Great Again’ coded ‘Continue the Genocide of POC’. You feel safe cuz you got the cops and politicians on your side. Youre not safe… just saying. We need to make racists scared,” wrote Macias in a seemingly-illiterate caption that accompanied the video.
The video is no longer available on YouTube, but the words cited (“You’re not safe…. We need to make racists scared”) do indicate a terrorist intent.
Vitale was informed by campus police that the new evidence raises it to a felony theft charge. Speaking to The College Fix on Monday, Vitale said he wanted to take a stand.
“I do want to send a message,” Vitale said. “I am not vindictive, I am not vengeful, but people especially in my generation need to realize you can’t do things like this because you don’t like what someone is saying or wearing.”
“Free speech is under attack on campus,” he added. “As cliche as it sounds, the facts of our laws and our Constitution … don’t care about what you feel. For millennials everywhere who believe their feelings give them the right to step on the rights of others — you are sadly misguided. That is not the real world.”
Like any bully, Masias is shocked and outraged that her victim dares to fight back and cries out that she is the real victim. Even more comically, her supporters are demanding the university and the taxpayers fund her living costs:…

I am so weary of the consistent attacks from people who are allegedly on my side of the aisle against Trump and his people. They hysteria is ridiculous.
Me, I decided shortly after Trump was inaugurated that 1) I wasn’t going to get everything I wanted nor was I going to get it instantly, and 2) I need to have some faith that Trump knows what he’s doing. Especially when it looks like he doesn’t.
Our side is occasionally as dumb as boxes of rocks. The sheer number of years the Establishment has been running unhindered means that it will take enormous amounts of time to clean up the mess. One wonders if idiots like that first commentor expected, for example, the fallout from Irma to be cleaned up in a week. The bigger the mess, the longer the cleanup takes, and as anyone who’s cleaned a house before can attest, sometimes the mess has to get bigger before it can get smaller.
Some people want Trump to take things back from the opposition by the mile. Me, I try to remind myself that every inch we get back is progress.

I’ve had it with all the gun control nonsense I’ve seen in my FB feed.
Yesterday one demanded I give one good reason why I need a full-auto machine gun, and it triggered me.
I replied, “No. You’re not my nanny.”
He responded, “That’s because you don’t have one!”
“I have 100 million dead ones in Russia and China, murdered by their own government.”
At that, he admitted he was conflicted, because he’s black, and thinks the President is a white power Nazi.
I said I know, it’s bizarre how in one breath people say he’s Hitler, and in the next breath that we need to be like Australia and turn in all our weapons.
BTW, here’s a link to help you with your internal conflict.

And in the same vein, California legislators who have enacted lots of gun control laws have exempted themselves, because they’re special, unlike normal everyday citizens.
