Rain-Tin-Tin!!!!

My father used to say he’d love to have a tin roof so he could hear the rain. Of course, in southern California the rains can be sparse. So his theory of sublime listening pleasure wouldn’t have been tested much. If we’d lived in a rainy clime, doubtful he’d like the thought as much.

Wow. Incredibly handsome. He’s got those eyes – the ones that let you know without hesitation that he’s got your number….good or bad.

PS – McCain sign on the fire is a nice touch.

Yeah, it was a brush burn just after McCain lost. I threw the sign on and he just walked over to the fire and sat down in front of it. We have two cats who like to sit next to our big burns too, they’ll sit on chairs or tractors within feet of the pyre and just watch.

We grew up with Shepherds. The males, with the exception of the last one, were named Meister. The females were Lupa. The last guy – my favorite and one of the smartest, funniest dogs I ever met, was MadMax.
He liked to go fishing and loved more than anything to be in the water. He’d wade out into the water chest deep. stand there and just close his eyes. His fishing expeditions? He would dunk his head underwater and grab oysters – I know, oysters aren’t that fast. But Max would only bring live oysters to the back door. Never a dead one among them. If we let him, he would ‘fish’ all day.
Thank you for the gorgeous picture, Stella. Brought back happy memories of a great friend.

Pearl Diver Dog…….

Yeah, I first saw the original GSDs in Germany in the early 60s, the West and East Getman police used them. I was used to the downsized US GSDs the American club had created, the huge coated ones were a shock. Wasn’t until Zauber that I had one and that was an enjoyable eight years.
Malenois may be more popular and easier for most folks to work with but if you’re a dog person GSDs are like having a combination of Dennis the Menace and Stephen Hawking as your best friend.

I don’t even want to thonk about the military working dog’s fate in Vietnam. That caused the turnaround in DoD’s actions regarding retired working dogs post-VN
