    Remember in the years after 911 all of the flag pins, those flags designed to fit on the window trim on car doors…they were everywhere. 2008 we get our cryptoMoslem Basthist POtuS and suddenly no displays of patriotism anywhere.     A long time ago now I remember reading on Scott Adam’s blog and he talked about how most Americans watched 9/11 happen on TV, but Trump smelled it. Which was a thought that had not even occurred to me until that point, that the President was in NYC when that Islam-driven attack happened and was up close and personal with Ground Zero.

      You could not have picked a more appropriate or beautiful painting for today. This is one I love. When I go to Adoration at the Basilica our priest begins at noon with the Angelus. It is a beautiful and moving prayer, and I always think of this painting, and the people who interrupted their day for prayer.

      This painting, the body language, speaks not only of their prayer, but of deep reverence and humility.

    National news feed at 11 AM has a talking news head on the street in Miami who said: ” there is so much debris in thevetreets that cleanup is in full effect “. Sooooo…if there were a lesser amount they’d just leave it in plsce?
    My friend in Miami said he lost power for a few hours yesterday but it’s back so damage to the local grid isn’t a bad as it could have been.

        You’re quite welcome to use it as……supplemental material. I believe it was the beta sterol and fenugreek, right? For diabetics I might also add that if they’re buying cinnamon to treat their blood sugar is problemstic. A lot of it is not real cinnamon and is basically dust of some sort with cinnamon oil on it, you need to buy it from a reputable source. Also, too much real cinnamon can csuse stomach and liver problems.
        I use Puritans as I tried other sources and found thru testing thst their stuff eorks andvthey carty other brands I use. What cinched it for me was when I was using a certain supplement and they stopped carrying it. I called and asked why and they said that it was plant that was on an endangered list and most of what was left was going to Europe at high prices, 99% of what was being sold here was phony and they won’t carry anything they can’t test and prove to ve what it says it is.

    –it’s not without criticism. I think if there’s one criticism or one observation is that the president in coming here, right, has still thought — at least in the beginning of his administration — that it’s about personalities, and, “If I can change this personality,” or, “If I can get this guy on my side, I can do that.” And it’s not what the institutional logic is. I think some of that was with the FBI and others in the State Department and how his foreign policy is playing out. But I believe you’re gonna see over time he’s gonna have a greater appreciation that this is a city of institutions, and you must engage them as institutions, not just as personalities.

    This is the real eye opener for me. I forgot the first “Rule of Trump” our president proceeds with what has worked in the past as a businessman. President Trump is a negotiator, a persuader, a man used to dealing with not figureheads but the real head of the establishment. He is now dealing with figureheads they are all tentacles of the same beast and President Trump has been dealing with them as autonomous individuals. If Steve Bannon has figured it out that this is part of the problem, President Trump has figured it out or is figuring it out.

    How bad was this interview for the MSM, DNC and RNC? Imagine what didn’t make the final cut if this is what made it into American’s living rooms.

    And look at what 60 Lies did to Steve Bannon’s face.

    Local hospital says that seven children who had cardiac surgery in the June/July timeframe have developed infections due to a piece of equipment that wasn’t cleaned properly. Local VA says: “What, you have to clean stuff?”.

    I’m weary this evening and yet, here I am at Stella’s place. Mostly just to say thank you to Stella, WeeWeed, Menagerie and the rest of the cast of characters for your unflinching dedication to making this site a refuge (and for watering the Tree).

    I sometimes post, sometimes not, but know on a bad day I can come here for prayers, giggles, fine articles, sound thoughts, beautiful photography, funny memes, puns, family stories and breakfast, tea or coffee.

    Thank you one and all. On days of tragic remembrance such as today you are particularly important to me. God bless you. Amen.

    I’m posting this for a long-time Treeper who prefers to remain anonymous:

    Tell The Children

    Early in the morning, as school was just beginning, one of my students came up to me. She started telling me about something that had happened, “in a big city, when bad people hit a building. Fire people, police went in to help. The buildings fell down and lots of people died. My mommy told me.”

    My student looked at me intently as she told me this news.

    She is 4 years old…

    I was as taken aback as I’ve ever been. My eyes and throat instantly filled with tears. I looked her straight in the eyes, and answered the best I could without breaking down, “Yes, I know. I remember that!” And then went silent, to see what she would say or do next.

    She told me all over again about the people who ran into the buildings, and that the buildings fell down, and that a lot of people had died. I said, “Yes, many of them died. But the fire people and police helped a lot of people to live. They were very, very brave.”

    That was enough for her–and as much as I could do.

    She moved on to play elsewhere in the room. And I stood there, swallowing my tears. Remembering 16 years ago–and thinking how deeply moved and grateful I was that her mother had taken the time to explain such important things to her child. Not hiding it, not denying it–just letting her child know that such things had happened.

    Quite young children can handle things like this, if explained clearly. They are not derailed by emotions and opinions. This little girl’s mother gave her an invaluable gift, the gift of knowledge. As she grows older, she can build on the memories of 9/11, and learn more and more about that time of grief–and, yes, faith, courage, and strength.

    I hope I did my part, as her teacher, to give her the words “very, very brave”, and that the “fire people and police” helped others to live. She will remember the conversation with her mother, and hopefully the one with me.

    Tell your children what happened.

    Never forget.
