My friend in Miami is breathing a sigh of relief that it looks as if they’ll avoid a head-on collision with Irma. Only problem now is what’ll he do with all of that extra booze??? 🥃🍷🍺

China might just be seeing that Trump’s not a professional politician whom, like those last one’s Trump talked about, spouted pap while aiding and abetting NK’s offensive nuke missile program. Trump’s rhetoric, as the NK see it, is schoolyard ‘in your face’ talk to the face-conscious NKs is provocative and China doesn’t want to be pushed into backing up its strategic doctrines over Bubba-san’s rantings.
Note that the exercises are pointed towards the invasion of sovereign Chibese territory by A foreign force equipped with cruise missiles…who might that be? If they start deploying the People’s Sushi and Katsudon Defense Forces we may hsve a better idea of their intentions. As it is I see the exercises aimed at NK, sorta hintin’ that China won’t defend Bubbasan if the US et al go to whack him and his nuke program but China will not put up with a non-Communist North or US/foreign troops on the Yalu.
NK was a Russian client state for decades and thebjoint Chinese/Russian navies exercises going on in the Med and Baltic seas are another political hint. Also, while the MSM wasn’t showing interest China’s holding a large military exercise in Tibet. What dies thst have to do with the price of cheese, one might ask? India.
Remember my rants on the decades-old India/China military standoff? Remember my discussion on how
China’s been busily building dams to cut off some 80% of India’s water supply and building joint-use naval bases around India to contain it? You want a nuclear trigger point? How long do you think India’s going to put up with this before we see the world’s two largest populations going at it? India used to ve another Russian groupie, used heavily as a balance against China, but if Russia and China can reach an accord that will make them the most powerful bloc in the world then India can go under the Sino-Soviet bus. New world, new alliances, same feckless US Congress.

Thanks Czar, I’ve been trying to figure out what was happening, it seems to me this confirms that there may very well be an uneasy truce that China is resigned to allowing for a pre-emptive strike by the US on Kimmy and his missile sites.
LikeLiked by 1 person
China’s basically but diplomatically already said that. What they’ve bluntly also said is they will not put up with a regine change to non-Communist or a Korea united under the South. A thin path to tread.
China’s probably already got a regime-change plan of its own on the table. A nuclear NK might start to put the screws to China at sone point. Also, why should China risk a US war that would leave NK in yurmoil, millions of porential NK refugees pouring north and a military confrontation with the US that might escalate? As I’ve said before China has to have its people inside NK thst they could use to oust Bubbasan (may have accounted for a few of those unexplained top-brass executions) and they may be forced to take that route rather than let things evolve on their own.

So we will have a less erratic China puppet at the helm of NK when the dust up is done?

Remember, just last week Trump, in a speech, spoke of NK being “an embarrassment to China.” China’s culture puts a lot of value on the concept of “face”, and of honor and pride. Their martial arts culture is all about this concept, since the 40s, when they destroyed all the actual martial arts and replaced them with State-regulated “martial arts”.
They know Trump is right, and they’re not about to lose face here. Good for them, and good on them for caring about their nation. I wish our government cared as much about our nation. That horse left the barn a long time ago.

Montgomery Gentry made a lot of good music. And by good, I mean morally good, not just technically.
So did Don Williams. That’s two greats in one day. Very sad, indeed. I’ll put both on the Pandora at work this afternoon. And remember, “There’s no cryin’ in kitchens.”
On a brighter note, I was on my bike this morning, and I heard a woman singing Susan Tedeschi’s “Make me an Angel” cover, at the Farmers’ Market across the street. I rode over there, real quick. After she and two other amazing guitarists/singers finished the number, I walked up to her and told her I was about to go get Chef, because, “OMG Susan Tedeschi is singing at the Farmers’ Market!” She was tickled. If I had sat on my bike, eyes closed, I would have said, “Yup, this is Susan singing.” She absolutely nailed it, and I told her so. It made my day. She wasn’t even part of the duo. Just some local gal selling wares at the market, who got up on the mic and became Susan Tedeschi for a few minutes. She wants me to go to karaoke at a local bar next week. I said, I need a courage pill or something. She said, “Take off your glasses, and drink a beer.”
We’ll see.

Absolutely agree that the loss of both Williams and Gentry is huge. Both of them really good men with strong Christian faith. It’s really heartbreaking, especially Troy, since he was only 50.

Carb problems? Look at: https://www.puritan.com/now-foods-brand-0089/phase-2-starch-neutralizer-072137?scid=40918&cmp=gpl-_-dietandlifestyle-_-072137%20NOW%20Foods&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuNL1jNKY1gIVCQRpCh2ULAFNEAQYBCABEgKHa_D_BwE
Yes, it DOES work. I carry some for when I’m in NOLA or even out and sround here. This is the deep South, even the tables and chairs are made out of fried carbs. There are times when you go into a restaurant and there hes ain’t no way ‘roun it…you gonna get carbed. Three of these and the carbs are heavily blocked from absorption. I use my blood glucose meter to test my sugar levels after a hi-carb meal and Phase Two and I see numbers well below where you’d reasonably expect them to be.
It’s a proprietary white bean extract and I’ve tried eating white beans and rice to see if the beans carry thr rice thru with minimal carb absorption…they do, levels way below where they’d be if the beans were not there. For a NIH take on this see: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3071778/
Just a thought, we use it and really swear by it. Source above is just one of a number but prices are beter than sone places like GNC. You can have your goodies and lower the absorption of carbs and guilt at the same time.

My problem is more with the fat than the carbs. I love potatoes! The recipe I used was 1#+ of potatoes, grated, half of a medium onion grated, 2 eggs, 3 TB flour, salt and pepper. Fried in safflower oil. Ate with sour cream.

I can’t take statins and my cholesterol levels had jumped from ‘come ooooon Czar’ to ‘would you like some blood with that fat sample?’ range. Two of these, my Zetia at night and some diet work and the levels are back down to ‘you may live until Thanksgiving’, an improvement. Same stuff they put into the ‘heart healthy’ margerine spreads.
I still eat butter, wholeish milk and inject sour cream IV, some things are worse than death with fatless dairy being right up there.
Following the bewest and latest findings on natural dietary fat? Looks like the things the ‘experts’ have been telling us for years it about to go 180, natural dairy fat doesn’t look good as a costume accessory but reasonable consumption it ain’t bad for ya.

There’s a very interesting book called “Nourishing Traditions” by Sally Fallon.
There are many anecdotes In it – one about a burn unit (doing this from memory, but I seem to remember Lehigh Valley Hospital?? Could be totally wrong…) that fed patients up to 18 eggs per day since egg proteins are really good at healing skin. After weeks/months on the ward with all those eggs everyday, the patients’ cholesterol was normal/lower than expected….the body didn’t have to produce cholesterol since it had all it needed.
Also many anecdotes about the value of full fat dairy products, why to stay far away from low fat anything, why you should sprout grains and eat fermented foods.
It’s a really great read in addition to being chock full of traditional healthy recipes.

No arguement here, we get yard eggs from chickens that eat what they catch, no artificial fats from processed feedlot offal. Ditto our beef, it’s locally sourced and much of our pork is locally shot. As for femented foods I love real sauerkraut, not that crap that comes in a tin or botle in the big box store, and real kimchee. I have a local and Califirnia source for both.

I was just talking to a neighbor who lives a few doors down from me. He is pretty practical and aware of things. He seems to know a lot, but is not a know-it-all kind of guy. He said he is pretty sure the eye is going to come right over us. And, he doesn’t think there is any chance of us flooding where we are because we are LOL 125 ft above sea level. But, there has been flooding on the main street that the apt. complex is off of. The other side of the street seems a lot lower and I think that is where the flooding had been. His only concern is the sustained winds. He warned me about limbs breaking off the trees over my apt. He doesn’t have any.
Anyway, he said if I get in trouble to come to their apt. He already has his son, dil,, and their two babies and I think his grown granddaughter, 3 dogs, and maybe a cat. It will be crowded, but he has apts on both sides of him. I am in the end apt., under trees.
Sure glad I got my panic attack out of the way early. 🙄

Hey! I’m at 125 feet too, go to your west side and wave, I’ll see if I can see ya.
Worst thing is if your apt folks haven’t had trees trimmed and/or you haven’t had recent storms that have stripped the more frangible branches, a wet storm where the trees pick up water and get hit by high winds can get messy.
Expect to see stark nekked trees, our live oaks were bare for many months after Katrina. Interesting how the ground’s carpeted with leaves, twigs and branches after a big one. For K we had the streets litered with acorns too, for weeks it was like driving over bubblewrap everywhere you went. Might be a good idea to hit that package store before it closes, a bit of refreshment to keep your mind from wandering between the storm’s arrival and departure.

I have plenty of liquid relaxation to keep my nerves calm. One thing the apt. complex does is keep the trees trimmed very well. I can’t help but be concerned about limbs falling off, though.

I don’t know if that’s the one I’m thinking of but it probably is. There are many news station broadcasts on the page from that event. I was in NH when this happened. I didn’t move there until two years later and heard about it like a recent local legend.
Then I researched it. Not a tornado, just a super wind. Even until just now, I never knew it was such a widespread event. I thought it just hit the GR area.

Oh, yes – we watched that from a distance. I think that was the same occasion when we had SLW three nights in a row, for about two hours just after midnight. Really weird, and rather terrifying when it happened repeatedly. We finally just started the night sleeping in the basement, figuring we weren’t going to be allowed to sleep through the night anyway,…

According to wunderground, I’m 666 ft. above sea level. I don’t know if that’s portentous of anything, but I know we’ll never flood in town, short of “Noah, I want you to build an ark!” flooding.
Nor does Lake Michigan produce hurricanes. Nor do we get catastrophic earthquakes. Being on Lake Michigan means we don’t even get tornadoes.
The only hell we face each year is tourists for three months, and windy and cold for nine.
It’s definitely my safe space.

Regardless of what eventual conclusions are, I think that men should not send pictures of their equipment on digital equipment. From the headlines the last couple of years, that practice seems to lead to a lot of stress and family problems.
I don’t use alcohol for similar reasons: the couple of times I enjoyed (emphasis on the verb there) a strawberry margarita double I observed that I was a whole lot more fun than when I didn’t. Boundaries and limits got all interesting and stuff. So I thought about that for a day or so, and about the death of my older sister from alcohol at age 55, and decided it might better if I didn’t use alcohol.
Wouldn’t a similar line of thinking be helpful if men would think about possible consequences before sending pictures of their junk around? Dunno. Just a thought.
I’m so sorry for the young man’s choice, if that’s what it was, and certainly would hope that his dad will be able to work through the next two years without doing something similar. There aren’t many pieces left to pick up at this point, for this family. Serious, serious stuff.

I agree Sand&Sea. How horrible. Balling still denies the allegations. If this does turn out to be a suicide it is none of anyone’s business other than his family and those they choose to share the information with. If it is death by suicide the allegations against Eric are not the cause, although they may have been part of catalyst.
Prayers for all of them. 🙏🏼

I believe Eric is being sincere about his innocence and if he is proven so, it looks really bad for Fox News. I can understand how all this could effect a young man, seeing his father publicly slandered and humiliated. This is of course pure speculation on my part. My heart breaks for them, it’s just so much to cope with. God give them strength. 🙏🏻

Not sure if y’all heard about the equifax breach, but you can go here to see if you were. Most people will get free credit monitoring for a year regardless of whether you were part of the breach or not.

As I mentioned over at CTH, everyone should just assume that their info is now out there on the market. 143,000,000, with a goodly percentage of that number being Americans, is simply way too big a number for anyone to assume otherwise.
It’s unconscionable that Equifax chose to wait over three months to report this to the public. As for their notifying us in a timely manner should we sign up for their “free” monitoring, color me skeptical.

And another thing that fries me is that these companies have been making money off our information for umpteen years. It should be lawfully mandated that they automatically notify credit users within minutes if anyone tries to get a loan, purchase a car, buy a house, or that 70 foot yacht they’ve been craving since forever.
Who is to say that someone connected to Equifax isn’t the hacker?

I know a lady who lives in the Senior Center apartments a block away. She’s wonderful, and it was only because I hailed her, as I am wont to do, and said “Hey lady!”
She’s 90% blind, and wears shades. I see her every day for years now. She eats at my restaurant, and I always make sure to greet her at her table when I know she’s in the house. Brilliant woman.
When I said, “Hey lady!” when I met her for the first time, I didn’t know who she was. This was years ago. She was walking her unbelievably wiry-haired dog, a mutt of mutts, and she stopped, stunned, and said, “How’d you know my dog’s name?”
Her name is Kay. She’s amazing. Since I got my bike, I don’t see her as much. Nor Lady.

I know quite a few ladies at that Senior Center.
How can you not meet people you walk by every day?
As I said, since I got my bike, I don’t see any of them as often as I should.
I need to walk more often again. I knew an old black guy, Mr. Merryweather. He was hit by a car when he was in his 30s. He was in his late 60’s the last time I spoke with him. The first few years I knew him he drove around on a HoverRound-type scooter that is ubiquitous in several Florida communities, the latter few he was using a wheeled walker, and then a cane. A few months ago he got hit by a car again. Now he’s paralyzed, from the neck down, I’m told. By several nice old ladies that I speak with at least weekly.
This guy, the last time I spoke with him, as I was leaving work, asked me if anyone I knew wanted a good trumpet. I said, “I do! But he’s in jail right now.” He was an old blues musician. Most times when speaking to him he made no sense. I spoke with him for years anyway. The more he knew you, the more he made sense. The only time I got him to snap into complete and utter coherence and lucidity was when I mentioned Sonny Boy Williamson and all the old blues I had listened to. He became unbelievably, for him, lucid, at that moment, and we talked music for an hour.
Walking is good. Too many people drive. They don’t get to talk with amazing people like people who walk do.

lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
And, Lord, we pray for help for the people of Texas and Louisiana who are caught in the flooding. And, now we add everyone in the path of Irma to our prayer for safety.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen
