Just hit me….Mar a Lago is smack on tne waterfront in Palm Beach with the Intercoastal in its backyard. Let’s see how the MSM plays this.

Nice dream but it’s made out of coral and was finished just in time to be nailed by the infamous 1928 hurricane that devastated Palm Beach. Could just chain ’em down on the beach across the street though.

Lotta old buildings in south Florida were made out of it, it’s solid and was readily available. Like the road bases back in the 50s that were made out of a layer of old small clam and crab shells dredged up. Don’t know if they’re still doing that, they stopped dredging those old beds in Lake Pontchartrain after environmentalists (who’d already had their roadbeds clam-shelled in) started raising a stink.

I agree about the daughter. I think it’s the writers, rather than the actress, but we will see! The writers seem to have a perception of 1968 that isn’t correct, unless maybe you lived in southern California.

I can remember catching big tarpon and grouper offshore of Riviera Beach, used to catch the smaller tarpon in drainage ditches along the road by the salt msrsh where they’d get caught when the tide went out. Then again those were the days before A1A became a solid band of condos and tourist crap.

She sounds like such a sweetie 🙂 Wasn’t that the breed that in the past was considered a good dog for children (see yesterday’s Lil Rascals photo)? Newfies were considered “nursey” or “nanny” dogs, but I thought it was perhaps Staffordshire terriers that were for older, more active children.

Lucky climbed ip on my shoulder and put his head there just as soon as I pulled him out of that box in the middle of the road. To this day he drags his solid 70 pound self up next to me on the recliner, puts his head on my shoulder and goes to sleep.
Neatest thing is when the Russian Blue comes in from the garage in the morning, bumps noses with him and he licks her. Second best is when he and the outside cat play ‘tag you’re it’ outside. There’s a few places atound that raise fighting pits and Lucky’s probably out of that genre, considering where I found him, but it’s nurture and not nature.

Geez, how could I forget, my GDIL has a big pit and it is as gentle and protective of the two baby GGDs as can be. They’re toddling now and the pit will walk with them but never touch them, if one falls the pit will go over to her and stay with her until she gets up and starts toddling again. No one taught the dog, just does that on its own.

All four of ours are as are three out of four cats (gee, wonder why people don’t come over???), fourth cat’s the GGS’s. I don’t have a need for purebreds anymore, and the rescue dogs just seem so ‘family’.

Pitties were the original “seeing-eye” dogs because they were so gentle, trainable and faithful. Then the people interested in fighting dogs and/or having a “macho” dog got ahold of the breed and gave responsible breeders a bad name.

Here is a website with writings by a woman who lives in Bezerkley, and has for quite a while. http://www.robinofberkeley.com/ She describes herself in this paragraph: “But there is always hope. If a pagan, progressive, feminist, vegetarian type like me could do a total l80 in a few short years, anything is possible. If I could fall intensely and perpetually in love with the true blue Savior of the World, there are still signs of life in this country. Even in Berkeley.”
I have saved many of her reports from the war zone. She’ll have some really deep articles such as:Summer of Lies Posted on July 10, 2017 by Robin
“Christ Comes to Berkeley!” Posted on July 22, 2017 by Robin
No News Is Good News Posted on August 19, 2017 by Robin
and then a couple of lighter ones such as:We’re Having a Heat Wave Posted on September 2, 2017 by Robin, which also give insight into the mentality of dysfunction and decay that is spreading across the nation. It helped me to see how they are, but I still don’t really understand them.

This type of taking no BS from the likes of Rose is a direct result of President Trump perpetually taking the lying MSM to the wood shed, again and again.
Look at the shadow of evil that crosses over Charlie’s face when he say “Bishop Dolar” (rather than Dolan) pure evil, he says it as if he is painting Bannon into a corner using Bannon’s own religion and Bannon just clobbers him over the head with a truth bomb.

He made the point I was after exactly, and carefully pointed out the difference in doctrine. Perfect. When it come s to a number of issues, immigration at the forefront, most of the bishops are simply pimps, with an agenda that has nothing to do with religion, although they can cry crocodile tears and pretend.
Apparently when they get to that level they really forget where the money comes from. With all due respect, the Church produces nothing. Not saying it should, I’m just saying that we billpayers are getting tired.
And I still say they are a hypocritical bunch.

Many are I agree. As to some that are not hypocrites: Look what happened to Cardinal Burke and the situation with Malta, and the 4 Cardinals who questioned the Pope’s confusing views on Communion for the divorced. Also, a Venezuelan Bishop or Cardinal told off the Pope’s politics a week or two ago.

So I got caught up in a dust with liberals yesterday on FB who were engaged in the typical hysteria over why Confederate monuments shouldn’t be in parks. What do you all do to deal with people who run around whining about “white privilege?” I blocked them. Is there anything else that can be done? Any way to reason with these crazier-than-a-$3-bill mental cases? (Based on some family history in my Euro-descended family in the not-too-distant past, I don’t handle people who tell me that “even if your family was poor or disadvantaged you have an advantage if you’re white” very well. Mostly because I know that it’s total crap.)

Mornin Rhea! “Mostly because I know that it’s total crap” I agree. My father is of Italian descent. He has black hair, black eyes, and darker skin than some who call themselves black. It amazes me that it doesn’t concern these people the prejudice that still to this day exists against (darker) Italians (and other groups as well). Think of what is out there in the “culture” about them : Jersey Shore, The Sopranos, etc, etc. But every day we get up and try to better ourselves, and our families without constant whining. They just are taking a temper tantrum because they fear the loss of their extra benefits will cause them to face their inadequacies, and either they will have to work harder, or they will fail. They are so used to having two sets of rules: one for them and one for everyone else. They think they are special, and everyone else is not as smart as them. Well welcome to the real world!

I had a friend whose father was Italian. She was very dark brown, a beautiful girl. But, she told me when they tried to get a hotel room in Miami back in the 50’s they wouldn’t let them in because they thought they were negroid. I was horrified that happened to them and that hotels did that at all.

My mother was horrified when we drove to Florida in 1952 or thereabouts. Still had segregated facilities, and stores that wouldn’t admit negroes. My dad partly grew up in Alabama, so he was aware of it, but she wasn’t.

There were still segregated restaurants, and bathrooms at gas stations, in the small towns around my college in north Mississippi in 1973-74. My group of 8 or 9 friends was denied service once at family-owned restaurant because one of us was black. We were told we would only be served if she went around back to the “colored” dining room. We all got up and left.

One of my FB friends is an ad executive in southern California. He’s libertarian/conservative, but many of his friends are in the entertainment business and FAR left. I have blocked a couple of them. The really stupid ones.
He has lots of activity on his posts, and it’s fun to discuss and argue. The ones who just name call and insult are tedious, and the ones I have blocked aren’t missed by me, anyway.
LikeLike
Their version of “willing to discuss” was that they listed all these articles about white privilege that I had to go read to inform myself because I wasn’t keeping an open mind to the dogma they were reciting. They never made an attempt to have an argument; I “wasn’t willing to keep an open mind” and needed to “educate myself.”
I don’t have an issue with dogma – everyone recites them, all the time. I know I do. But if people can’t defend their dogma, and instead demand that I go out and research it, well, I take issue to that. I defend my dogmas in the hopes that my defense will make sense and then people will follow up by learning more. I defend even if I’m providing other links because I never assume that the person I’m talking too will actually click that link. I don’t demand that people have to research my position because I know they won’t and defending my dogmas give me an opportunity to educate others and see where the holes in my arguments are at the same time.

About 3 a.m., a Hispanic employee was finally leaving with a black friend who had hung around. Both are Facebook friends, and started teasing me about my white privilege of being able to play guitar at 3 in the morning in an empty parking lot without being harassed by the police. I just let it slide, and then it was, “Hey, do you think you could play this song?”
The Hispanic is the same one who said he knew I wasn’t racist or misogynistic because he sees how I treat people, so how could I possibly support Trump?
“Cognitive dissonance” is one of his favorite phrases, which he applies often to Christians in his atheist Facebook posts.
I find it amusing that I cause him some cognitive dissonance. 🙂
I figure if I can soften the opposing arguments, it’s a good thing.
I love my friends, even if the Enemy has them deluded for the time being.

I have always liked this painting. I like how by his melding and muting of colors, you have a beautiful representation of the time of early evening.
Off to work! Have a lot to make up for after yesterday. Everyone have a great day, and may anyone in harm’s way remain safe!

Thank you for those kind words God&Country. I’m just a old dismounted cavalryman now. Have been on the parrie Ft. Riley KS, and did the Indian wars tour thru the West along time ago. Ended the trip riding from the Divide to Scouts point, then on too the battlefield. The Crow nation provided a chuck wagon, scouts, and good horses…… we made a general donation, then another donation too the crew that guided the group. Was worth every dollar…..good memories…….

I was just sitting down in front of the boob tube for lunch after a busy morning, going through however many 100’s of shows on cable. The past few months starting with TCM’s ‘summer of discontent’, there seems lately to be mostly horror and/or depressing movies broadcast. Interesting. DH and I are buying as many positive, and “old fashioned” dvd’s as we can. I won’t have my mind filled with the depression, and outright evil, on the TV. Anyone notice this? I don’t watch much TV, so I am appalled at what is shown.

I don’t watch network television. Local news now and then. PBS Create channel, Masterpiece Theater, YouTube, Starz, Amazon Prime, and OAN are my most frequent viewing. HGTV occasionally – I like Fixer Upper.

I love Fixer Upper. They just delight me and I love the way they involve the children. It makes me happy to watch them. And, Chip is such a goof ball. But, I think he is very serious about his remodeling.

Check out DVDs from the library. We’ve been enjoying a 1990s British series, “Pie in the Sky” recently.

Thanks for the recommendation. “Pie in the Sky” is available on Acorn TV, and I added it to my watch list. Have you watched Midsomer Murders? It started in 1997 and is still running.

I’ve bought the Scarecrow and Mrs. King DVDs lately.
I’m starting to think television was better in the 80s. Night Court gets run on the local stations sometimes. I miss the re-runs of WKRP in Cincinnati, F-Troop, and Hogan’s Heroes though since they don’t play those anymore.
(My family watches/watched a lot of older TV shows.)

I used to watch those, too. I also loved all the westerns that were healthy family shows IMO.

G&C, some film suggestions…most any Cary Grant movie would fall in the uplifting category. Some favs are CHARADE, HIS GIRL FRIDAY, MR. LUCKY, NOTORIOUS, PEOPLE WILL TALK, ONCE UPON A HONEYMOON, THE AWFUL TRUTH, THE PHILADELPHIA STORY. Can’t miss with any of these.
Another wonderful film, SINCE YOU WENT AWAY, starred Claudette Colbert, Joseph Cotten, Jennifer Jones and Shirley Temple…a WWII melodrama beautifully acted.
And ROMAN HOLIDAY with Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck.
Oh, my, so many, many…go here…http://www.afi.com/100Years/movies.aspx…to find the original American Film Institute’s listing of the 100 best films of all time (to 1998). The only films on that list which I’ve never seen are SCHINDLER’S LIST (had a copy around for years but just couldn’t bring myself to watch it), GOODFELLAS, PULP FICTION, and FORREST GUMP.
Happy viewing!

Miss Abigail, my fourth great-grand-daughter, got free of her cocoon about 8:30 this morning.
This young lady weighed in at 9 lbs, 14 oz. Yikes. Chubby little beauty. Don’t know her length yet (Granpa forgot to ask) but perhaps not so long since she’s chubby! Her mama is about a size 6 (the old version of sizes) so I’m glad all is well.
My son said that Abigail’s Daddy is just grinning his face off. Happy little family this morning!

I truly am grateful that the delivery went as well as it did (and it went fine)…..I gotz opinions and concerns about induced labor and am glad they were not reinforced in this case!

My DIL had my second grandbaby a month or so ago. I was very concerned just because the first one was so big and she tore a little more than is good. So, this second one is a week late, is born very quickly, little tearing, and 10 lbs 4 oz, almost a pound bigger than her big sis. She did really well, oh, and was born the day after her big sis’s 2nd birthday. And, I am here to tell you my DIL is a trooper.

My goodness, poor girl. My SIL had huge babies, 10 and 11 pounds, they always looked so huge to me who had little babies.
My daughter told me thank you for passing on the gene for small babies. lol You wouldn’t know by looking at Gracie now that she was just over 7 lbs. She’s a fat little pig that is trying to crawl and those fat legs trip her up and she does lots of face planting these days. 🙂

Also: Tomorrow Howie Carr will have a segment on his radio show about this – probably Jeff Kuhner’s radio show as well. I’m really interested in what’s going to happen at the PACEI at St. A’s. There are some very well-informed, and passionate people that will hopefully be there.

To those who say maybe they don’t drive – unless you live directly in one of a very few cities, you have to drive in NH. In NH by law you only have a matter of weeks to get a NH license when you move here. Parts of Nashua, Manchester, and most of Concord, along with the college towns vote Dem, virtually all the rest of the state votes Rep. Everyone here I spoke with, even those who are not thrilled with Trump, thinks he actually won the true NH vote.

lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
And, Lord, we pray for help for the people of Texas and Louisiana who are caught in the flooding. And, now we add everyone in the path of Irma to our prayer for safety.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen
