    Today’s painting is ‘Temple Mount and the Western Wall’ 1943 by Ludwig Blum (1891-1974).

    Known as the “Painter of Jerusalem,” Blum immigrated to Palestine in 1923 from what is now the Czech Republic. A veteran of the First World War and an academically-trained painter, Blum set about depicting the Middle East, most notably, the Holy Land, both through vast topographical scenes and through small-scale street and marketplace scenes. He painted largely devoid of religious overtones. He did not wish to present a romanticized vision of the Holy Land of biblical times; rather, his paintings reflect the perceptions of a 20th century viewer.     Beautiful cool morning, hint of fall to come. Sitting on the back porch looking at the pines & the lake while one of he dogs explores the smells of the overnight backyard guests. Totally quiet. Next to my chair a spiderweb with one of my favorite neighbors, the star spider. Look it up if you are not creeped out by spiders, the female is black with horns all around, and a white design on its back. Apparently also comes in red or yellow. I love to look at them and their webs, especially the huge banana spiders, but, of course hate to walk into their webs, resulting in the crazy spiderweb dance!

      Afternoon czarina! I’m ready for fall. Pumpkin spice everything, fall colors, Halloween decorations. Ahhhhh! Love it all. 🙂

      Banana spiders do creep me out. Those can get so big and their webs are huge, too.

        Czar said he is craving turkey. I want sage stuffing & gravy, & he makes wonderful spatzele. Yes, all sorts of pies. Hearty soups. Yummmmm.
        Just came in from weeding… 90 degrees in the shade, but the humidity is 40%, so we southerners think the air is dry. Funny how everything is relative. In Utah on the first spring day it got above 50 degrees we put on our shorts & went out to clear the garden for planting.

    Why?
    Local shell gas station prices (5h ago): Regular = $2.74 and Premium = $3.19.

    Wall Street Crude = $47.37; not $57.43. What a rip-off.
    Why?
    AAA says, “…the country’s overall oil and gasoline inventories being at or above 5-year highs”

    Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

    AoSHQ has a thread subtitled, “Too much work, not enough beer.”

    LOL. Me and Chef have that sorted out: work AND beer. Just enough of each. Everything in moderation.

    We fed a lot of people today. Chef, salaried, worked probably 16 hours. I worked 12.

    And we both drank beer. But just enough, and no more. Not enough to stumble and slur our words, but just enough to rock and roll, which is what we do.

    Have you worked with our servers and hostesses? You would also drink at work.
