      Juan Browne is a former USAF pilot and now flies for a major airline. He’s also a guest reporter for a local publication regarding the Oroville Dam failure in California. That potential disaster was the reason I began following him on YT. Fascinating guy of many interests.

    I’ve never seen this interview before. 2007 Charlie Rose interview of Michael Crichton, and his views on Global Warming (what they called it ten years ago). I wish Mr. Crichton was still alive!

        I was an Army guy who was a plankowner of a Navy SCIF…as close to water over ankle deep as I want to be.
        Many years ago I got to take a cruise on a Navy destroyer, berthed me right by the forward shell elevator. I was less than impressed by the food, accommodations and ability of the ship to move in four different planes at once. I always held the lie close that at least as a grunt I could always walk home if everything went to ****.

        Yup, my hometown was a submarine town, had a division of Electric Boat there. We had townsfolk on WWII subs and Cold War sibs that went down…I had no desire to go down in a ship. Somehow falling out of the air was a more acceptable ending to me, if such were to be.

      The USS John S. McCain collided with a merchant ship near Singapore early Monday, and U.S. Navy officials say search and rescue operations are underway. The guided-missile destroyer reportedly suffered damage to its port side, and officials with the U.S. 7th Fleet said there were an “unspecified number of minor injuries.” Officials said the incident happened around 6:30 a.m. local time in the Strait of Malacca as the ship was headed for Singapore for a routine port visit. The ship was commissioned in 1994 and is named for both the father and grandfather of Sen. John McCain, both of whom were onetime U.S. Navy admirals. In June, seven U.S. sailors were killed when another destroyer, the USS Fitzgerald, crashed into a merchant ship off Japan.
