    According to the NYP ;

President Trump stunned his top aides at his combative news conference on Tuesday, ignoring their advice to turn the corner on Charlottesville, by getting into a heated back-and-forth with reporters — after he’d agreed privately not to take questions.

    http://nypost.com/2017/08/16/trumps-aides-were-stunned-after-rogue-press-conference/

To quote Terrance Williams “President Trump’s top aides need to go to bed.” 😜

Of course the NYP could be lying through their teeth. If the NYP is not lying I’m applying to be one of President Trump’s top aides as I saw this presser coming on August 12th. I think we all did.

Where does his STAFF!!! get off telling him what to do? ‘Cause that’s what it sounds like…not advice giving, but trying to change him from the man we elected by practically ordering him to “behave.” He’s President because he didn’t “behave.” We don’t want him to “behave.”

They want him to have a better relationship with the press because they think it will change how the media treats him. Don’t they get it? NOTHING IN THE ENTIRE WORLD will make the media treat President Trump with the dignity he deserves. He could play their game and KA all day and it would change nothing.

The leftist media is deranged, gone potty, skipped the loop and they will not step back and look at their actions because they believe they know everything and are right about everything.

I ran across this quoted insult today from “Blackadder” and this is what I say to the media and anyone who is trying to appease them: “Your brain is like the four-headed man-eating haddock-fish beast of Aberdeen. It doesn’t exist.”

I saw a tweet from Mike Huckabee the other day saying that no matter what President Trump said, it wouldn’t be enough for the left. I would add that if they like the words, they say he isn’t sincere.

Exactly! Not a sincere bone in his body….

Everyone with eyes to see knows that our President is doing a great job and also knows that prior to his announcing for the Presidency, Donald Trump was a respected businessman who was honored by various organizations for his NOT being a racist, for being over-all tough but fair in his business dealings, for equal hiring practices, for telling the truth as he saw it. Wouldn’t you think those facts would give some of the critics pause? Nope. Because that’s not the point of the protests, media criticism and lies or the disrespect by RINOs. They hate him because they can’t control him.

      • Very well stated, Lucille. Tammy Bruce was on Fox and Friends this morning very much in support of Trump as she has always been. She’s suggesting he follow Reagan’s example and do regular briefings from his desk in the Oval Office and circumvent the media. I think it’s a great idea. Make the MSM obsolete and go straight to the people.

That is terrific, I will use it 😊.

I am leaning toward NYP’s lying through its teeth.

Today in an article about President Trump the NYP actually printed this The president was met with a torrent of criticism when he spoke out on Tuesday in defense of the white supremacist groups that gathered in Charlottesville, Va.

An outright lie. Only a brainless or evil person could promote such nonsense.

I agree 100% the press is the enemy and it matters not one iota to them what Trump does their view is a distorted as a Dali painting.

Chicago pastor urges mayor to remove George Washington statue, rename park over slavery

President Trump’s question to reporters on Tuesday about the possibility of tearing down historical monuments has been answered by a Chicago pastor: “It’s time.”

Bishop James E. Dukes of Chicago’s Liberation Christian Center made headlines in the Windy City on Wednesday for calling on Mayor Rahm Emanuel to rename Washington Park and remove a statue of the first U.S. president over his ties to slavery. Mr. Dukes told his Facebook flock that “it’s time” after Mr. Trump sparred with reporters over efforts to expunge Civil War-era monuments from existence.

Boston ‘free speech’ rally permit OK’d

      By KRISTIN LAFRATTA

      August 16. 2017 9:13PM

      Here’s the teaser… 😉

Boston’s Parks and Recreation Department has approved a permit for the controversial “Free Speech” rally on Boston Common this Saturday.

Following the violent clash between white nationalists and counter-protesters in Charlottesville, Va. last weekend, many in Boston have asked that the rally not go forward.

Organizers of the rally are part of a group called “Boston Free Speech.” Newton native John Medlar, 23, said the event aims to advocate for free speech, and should not be compared to the “Unite the Right” rally that took place in Virginia.

“I would say this contrasts to Charlottesville. We’re trying to get people to stop fighting and start listening,” Medlar said. “The fringes on the left and right do not respect free speech.”

Medlar said the group will use the right of free association to separate themselves from any hate groups that could show up on Saturday: “that includes standing up against white supremacists, radical leftist groups.” He added that the Free Speech promoters “categorically oppose groups like the Ku Klux Klan, Nazis and so forth.”

this article is about mistakes made today in raising kids…as a result of the last generation of parenting thinking…..the language used is sometimes crude, but the content is very much thought provoking….especially to a parent who parented against two separate age groups of parents…I had kids at age 23, and again in another marriage which was the right one, at age 43…..and the last time my kids were in the peer group talked about in the article….and I saw all of the “don’t do this” points clearly in control of parenting in the 1990s.

Interested in comments here, from the rational and caring crowd at Stellas….I come here because the rest of the nation has gone crazy and are running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

    • I read the article. I think the author hurts his cause with the profanity. The “every one gets a trophy” mentality has definitely harmed our kids. I don’t agree about the unique name thing for the most part, however naming your kid Pilot Inspektor or Sage Moonblood, like a few celebrities have done, is downright idiotic, but at least they can change their names later. Helping your child find the thing that brings them joy and helping them achieve their fullest potential is fine in my opinion. Personally, I believe that parental involvement and really listening to your children are the biggest factors to having healthy well-adjusted kids. Just my two cents. 🙂

Here are some thoughts I had. Things I think impact the statistics, but do not necessarily invalidate them. I do think, however, that they are attributing some causality that may not be the total story. There are lots of reasons things happen usually, not just one. We don’t live in a linear world.

#7 The name one. I think that naming your kid Moon Unit or Dweezil Zappa, if I remember correctly, is as stupid as naming them La Toyisha. However, households that tend to do that very probably have some other things going on. Such as the likelohood the kid is being raised in the hood with no baby daddy.

#6 I flat out disagree with. I don’t think that peer pressure is what accounts for socialization unless you are parents who have abdicated your responsibilities to the school system and that’s all your kid gets.

I know some young men and women in their twenties now, most of them raising families, who were home schooled. Quite a few of them actually, enough that I think making this point is valid.

One thing jumps out at me about them, and it is as important, if not more so, than their intelligence and excellent education. They are not only self confident, they value who and what they are, especially the women (maybe more so than the guys) in a way kids who have been exposed to the insults, attacks, bullying, and impossible standards we live by in public schools can’t. These young people look normal, as in the ladies are sizes 10, 12, maybe even 14. They don’t diet constantly and criticize themselves. They glow with natural beauty, and they feel pretty. They don’t strive for perfection, they accept their humanity. Like I imagine people used to.

They are much kinder, more involved in church, volunteer work, and contributing in a positive way to society, rather than just making payments on a McMansion.

And many of the ones I knew were not sexually active until marriage, male and female. Not because, as someone hinted yesterday, because they are damaged and repressed, but because they value themselves. They are able to actually pursue delayed gratification for the greater good.

Please understand that I am NOT saying this is 100% the explanation. I know home school kids who are not nice, not well, and selfish. Obviously there are successes everywhere with public school kids.

But I will absolutely say that I think kids in public or even private schools are like salmon swimming upstream when it comes to the odds of coming out with a healthy self like.

#4 Starting kids early. Same as before, lots of early intervention in the hood.

#2 Praise. My husband talked me into reading a book that enhanced my thinking on this. Believe it or not, it was a book teaching you how to improve your sporting clay shooting skills.

There was a study done that agreed with the premise stated in the article. But what this study did was have parents tell their kids how proud they were of how hard they worked instead of smart, pretty, etc. They were repeatedly and sincerely praised for their efforts, with specifics discussed. The kids would work even harder, while the others avoided challenges.

#1 It’s not the videos, it’s parents who put a kid in front of a TV and figure they are going to get a well, and Einstein. It’s adults taking the easy way out. I’ll bet there are parents who watch those vids with kids, stop it, talk about things, and the kid learns a lot.

Just some ideas. Possible attributing factors. In this world it’s not like one thing happens (x) that causes exactly this reaction (y) and you can plot peolple’s lives out like the slope of a line.

One other train of thought this brought about. Just the start of some thinking, I don’t have any conclusions yet, just the start of an idea.

Among the young people I know, the girls seemed to thrive more being home schooled than the boys, and come out well adjusted while I’ve seen a number of the boys struggle after getting to college or beyond in the work force. However, I know more of the girls personally, and am observing the males more distantly.

But I am wondering if (gasp, feminists!) the girls actually thrive more and respond better to a more nurturing and less threatening environment during their formative years, allowing them to developed self confidence and a positive self image, while the boys are missing some challenge and competition and pressures that have not yet been provided for them consistently in home schooling.

          Just random thoughts.

          • Also the homeschooling parent is usually the mother so the boys wouldn’t be getting as much male modeling as they might in other settings. Around here it seems that homeschoolers really have to fight to get access to any public school offerings (like sports & art) when the parents have obviously funded things with their tax dollars. Boys likely need more sports opportunities than many homeschooling scenarios might provide too…

I agree. And, as to homeschooled children, I really agree. I knew very few children that were homeschooled who were problems. Other people worried about my son’s socialization, as if he never saw other children. Well, what my son didn’t do was rob people’s homes, get in fights, get lots of moving violations after he started driving (in fact, I don’t think he got any until later), stay out drinking with his buddies as a minor, ignore his schoolwork and generally cause trouble. And, as far as socialization went, he could talk to an Admiral when his Midshipman buddies were cowering. They couldn’t believe he wasn’t intimidated. And, he was always respectful.

Yeah, I always thought that was pretty stupid. I think it is good for children to play with other children some, but this idea that other children have something to teach and must spend 6 or 8 hours a day with the same age children is really stupid. When we were in Upstate NY, a lot of the homeschool families were very large 4 to 10 kids. The thing I noticed was that they didn’t reject playing with children of other ages like the cousins of my son did.

Something very interesting I read is that the children who are very confident that they will do well on a test rarely do well and children who are a bit ambivalent about how they do tend to score higher on tests. It is about self-esteem being a pale substitute for self assured.

Some parents install self esteem, some instill self confidence. There is a huge difference.

America has raised a generation of magical thinkers.

I/we have done this many times with our kids, especially when they were younger. I love the Pause button so we can have those mini-discussions. There are some favorite films where when we hit Pause the kids basically now tell us what we’d told them previously (while rolling their eyes!)…& based on how they are choosing to live their lives (for the most part) good messages were received & are being acted upon!

Someone might think Texas relocated to New York. 😉

Perhaps the GPS would be the appropriate name.

      Here’s the reasoning:

In a system of 1,700 schools, the numbering can be dizzying. For children starting at Public School 8 this week, they might be traveling to Washington Heights — or Brooklyn Heights, or two other places. And if teachers are assigned to work at Public School 75 on the Upper West Side, they should not necessarily assume that it opened before Public School 76, about a mile north, or that it bears any relationship to the P.S. 75 that was on the Lower East Side many years earlier.

The fact that the numbers are repeated across boroughs is, in part, because the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island originally had their own school systems. But over the decades, as the city has closed, moved and razed school buildings — and, recently, opened lots of new ones — the sequential numbering of schools has disappeared.

“You start out with a deck of cards with all of the suits in order, and over the course of a century the deck has been shuffled so many times that it doesn’t have meaning anymore,” said Stephan F. Brumberg, a historian of education at Brooklyn College.

Here is the quilt I made for my DD’s wedding. Actually, it is an autograph quilt (each square is signed by someone who attended the wedding, or contains something related to the wedding, like music lyrics, bible verses, poem). The center is an embroidered duplication of their wedding program cover, which my SIL designed.

It isn’t finished in this picture (just the top).

My goodness, Stella, do you quilt professionally? Because these are extraordinary and could easily be a profitable business besides being a personally satisfying endeavor.

A company I worked for had collectible and antique quilts hanging in their lobby and halls as art. Beautiful when framed, placed and hung properly making sure the stitches aren’t stressed.

I’m pretty good at the piecing, fabric selection etc, but I’m not very good at the actual quilting. I do very simple quilting, by machine (for the most part). I haven’t done anything lately, and I’m slow enough that I could never charge enough for it to be worth my time!

My mother made two quilts for me, and one for my daughter, then had some local Mennonite ladies quilt them by hand during the winter, when they weren’t so busy.

Some women have businesses just quilting (by big computerized machines) the quilt tops made by others.

When I do it, it is strictly for fun.

I recall using dental floss to sew a patch on dress whites when I was in the navy. I discovered I somehow sewed the sleeve in part, to the back of the patch. I bring this up only because I’ve never seen anyone sew a baby to a quilt before. Even as ornamentation.

There was an unfortunate incident similar to that in my past, involving a pair of son’s school pants, and hemming. No dental floss though.

He got in the car, took them to his grandmother’s house, and she advised him to forcibly never allow me to sew anything on their clothes, hem them, or even sew buttons on again. That was the last of my sewing attempts, and unfortunately not the worst of it. And they all still remember.

They thought for a minute and said, “No. Why?” I said, “Because they’re so GOOD at it. Besides, they’re hiding. If you saw them, they’d just be sitting in a cherry tree.”

They laughed. Then I asked them, “Do you know why elephants paint their toenails red?”

      See, more good news.

Personally, I think the best news is what’s causing most of the bad news.

People got fed up. We elected Trump to the presidency. Now the enemy is in full on assault.

We haven’t changed our minds, it’s just the enemy being the enemy. They aren’t going to give up, but how do you think the people who elected President Trump are reacting to Antifa and their ilk? Do you really think people approve of the talk of having their vote, their freedom stolen from them?

I think Trump has even more committed support from his base than he did to get him elected. We have forced out in the open every thing we knew was happening. It sure as heck hasn’t made me change my mind.

I didn’t work to elect Presient Trump to kiss their butts and make them happy, I voted for him to take the fight TO them.

      It’s good news to me.

I just received something interesting in my email. Most here are likely aware of Gab.ai as a new challenger for Twitter; I have an account and receive occasional notifications of people following me, but no spam. Today, I received an email offering me free download of a book about SJWs and their movement entitled “SJWS ALWAYS LIE” that is well written and extremely informative. It appears to be well-researched and I am looking forward to reading it in depth. There is an additional book regarding the “Ctrl-Alt” revolt (pertains, I think, to the Google firing and the corporate “moral mandate” developing). I’m not sure, after reading the first few pages, I can stay with it long enough to get much out of that one. Remains to be seen…

If you are interested, follow the link below. The offering is from Castalia House publishing; you will have to enter your email, which will sign you up for their newsletter – which I will promptly unsubscribe from. You do not need to enter any payment info. The download formats are .epub and kindle.

I’m putting this out here just in case anyone is interested and because I believe context is important; of it’s worth, ymmv (your mileage may vary). I’ll report back after I’ve read more; I have a feeling I’ll be drawing on this as reference for a while. Milo wrote both the Foreward and the Appendix for SJWS ALWAYS LIE; it was written by Vox Day.

Breaking: Missouri State Senator Says, “I Hope Trump Is Assassinated”

    https://sentinelksmo.org/breaking-missouri-state-senator-says-hope-trump-assassinated/

The St. Louis Post Dispatch is reporting that Missouri state Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal, a Democrat from University City, posted a comment on Facebook Thursday morning expressing her desire that President Donald Trump be assassinated. The conversation was quickly deleted, but the Post-Dispatch, to its credit, preserved a screenshot before it was.

This is not fake news. Chappelle-Nadal confirmed to the Post-Dispatch that she had, in fact, written the threat in response to a Facebook friend before deleting it. “I didn’t mean what I put up. Absolutely not,” the senator protested after the fact. “I was very frustrated. Things have got to change.” It is likely that things will change very quickly for Chappelle-Nadal.

  28. Dear Stellarites,

I’m doing a copy/paste of a post I wrote over at the Conservative Tree House because I really wanted to also share these thoughts with you. By the way, Josiah did a small post over on the CTH prayer request page (in case any of you might want to encounter him more directly). He’s doing relatively well but still has some recovery needs I’ll share in another post. Blessings!

    “Dear Treepers,

I’ve been playing catch up on reading threads here & at Stella’s since taking a small break to maximize the end of my ancestry.com gift subscription. During my mini-vacation so many horrific developments on our national (& international) stage have taken place. I’ve had Rush & Levin, etc on the radio during some catch-up reading time & so many things discussed have really distressed my son, Josiah.

Josiah has always struggled with processing the information around him & this is especially so for things he hears & conversations he tries to participate in. Recent events & his challenges in processing them have left a heaviness in his (our?) soul…so today he asked me to pray with him.

There is Power in Prayer!!! Jesus said “where two or three are gathered in my name there I am in the midst of them!” It really seemed that just my son & I praying together led to a breakthrough. I had the mental picture from the Lord of the Rings movie where a beam of light shot up to the sky & the clouds above began to yield. I also thought about the passage in scripture where Michael & the archangels were prevented from intervening on earth for a period of time until the prayers of the faithful allowed them to break through (think of some Frank Peretti imagery).

Anyway, the bottom line is I want to encourage you to pray, not only online in our little conservative collective, but also in the real world with at least one other believer! These prayers are effective. They will help each of us gain some eternal/spiritual perspective on events swirling around us. They also can contribute to beating back the Darkness & Deception that are desiring to take hold of us–keeping us from doing the very things that cause them to retreat.

Gird your loins for battle, my brothers & sisters…”The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but they are mighty through God for the pulling down of stongholds. For we wrestle not with flesh & blood but against principalities, & powers, & the rulers of darkness in this world…” (forgiven any misquoting here as I’m pulling from memory).

Let’s keep doing battle in the Kingdom as we also do so in this “natural” world…

Be strengthened, encouraged, inspired, convicted, restrained, enlightened, & empowered each & every one of us in Our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ!

Your Fellow Soldier in the Faith…”

      • Thank you for your testimony & encouraging words. Here’s a glimpse of life with Josiah from today:

earlier today he was flipping through his printed copy of the US Constitution (he asked me to help him print it off at one of our many hospital runs) to look up Habeus Corpus because he heard it mentioned in a Batman cartoon he recently watched. He found HC in the Constitution but not knowing it’s meaning I encouraged him to look it up online…

this evening I made him accompany me on a library run so he decided to check out some books on George Washington since he’d recently written a blog post about him & thought he should learn more about him…

later this evening he was movie quoting Han Solo “this was a boring conversation anyway…Luke we’re gonna have company!” after having a discussion about how he is a great Spiritual Warrior but he’s not made/called to be a soldier in this world, my opinions he really didn’t want to hear…

        Life in the Josacracy!

    • Dear Stellarites,

Here’s a bit of an update on Josiah (from a post at CTH’s prayer request page) & it also references the copy/paste I did above beginning “Dear Treepers”…thank you for your prayers & care for Josiah, myself, & our family! Blessings!

      “Dear Prayer Warriors,

Here’s a quick update on Josiah followed by a copy/paste of an encouragement to prayer for our nation I posted on the open thread earlier today, fyi.

Josiah is doing relatively well in his recuperation though it appears that the two surgical sites are not exactly healing properly. The place that should be staying open is seeming to be closed off while the site that should be healing closed (where the fistula is) is seeming to be staying open. I’m thinking it may be necessary to call to either the Doctor’s office or the department’s resident on-call (after hours) for some further advice, since he currently is scheduled to see the surgeon again for follow up next month. The other day in trying to help the one area to be more opened up I actually caused a small amount of bleeding, so we need wisdom & the Lord’s continued healing touch on Josiah in body, mind, & spirit.

Part of God’s touch on J’s mind & spirit is partially reflected in the paste below. Josiah continues to have an amazing heart for the Lord. It is such a blessing whenever we pray aloud together. He is often moved to tears as he surrenders himself to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. What a privilege to witness firsthand how impactful is his relationship with the Lord on his heart, mind, speech, & behavior. He continues to live with “unveiled face” before the Lord & in his regular life in part due to Autism. In this sense autism has been a Huge Blessing to him & to us for he is truly incapable of Faking It until he makes it–what you see is what you get & we get a front row seat to so much of God’s working in Josiah’s life in both large & small ways!

Thanks again so much for your many prayers for Josiah. We are so thankful for this treasured ministry to our family. Josiah also posted some thanks on this prayer request page today too…God Bless YOU!”

Excellent opinion piece from City Journal/Harry Stein

    Who’s Next, George Washington?

As a Red Diaper baby, I came from a different tradition. My parents never saw Gone With the Wind—they were outside the theater, picketing. But I, too, felt the pull of that history, in all its messiness and grandeur. It was our history, as Americans.

Maybe that’s all over now. Maybe, as my colleague Kay Hymowitz once observed, for kids today American history runs from the oppression of the Indians to the oppression of blacks to the oppression of women, with nothing ennobling in between. Not long ago, talking with several people in their twenties, I was startled to learn that, until the movie came out, none of them had heard of Dunkirk. How, then, could we expect them to know about figures like Richard Kirkland, “the Angel of Marye’s Heights,” the Confederate soldier who, during the abattoir that was Fredericksburg, emerged from the safety of the commanding Southern lines to tend to dying Union soldiers on the killing field below? …

    Lots more.

EXCLUSIVE: Rep. Rohrabacher Says Assange Could Be Pardoned For Info About DNC Leak Source

    http://dailycaller.com/2017/08/17/exclusive-rohrabacher-says-assange-could-be-pardoned-for-info-about-dnc-leak-source/

California Republican Rep. Dana Rohrabacher met with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange Wednesday in an effort to obtain information about the source of a leak of Democratic officials’ emails.

Rohrabacher told The Daily Caller in an exclusive interview Thursday that Assange is hoping to leave the Ecuadorian embassy in London where he is currently in asylum, and that during the meeting they explored “what might be necessary to get him out.”

The congressman told TheDC that “if [Assange] is going to give us a big favor, he would obviously have to be pardoned to leave the Ecuadorian embassy.” Assange took asylum in the embassy in August 2012 after facing sexual assault charges in Sweden. The Justice Department also reportedly wants to charge Assange for helping Edward Snowden, a former NSA analyst, leak thousands of classified documents.

“He has information that will be of dramatic importance to the United States and the people of our country as well as to our government,” Rohrabacher said. “Thus if he comes up with that, you know he’s going to expect something in return. He can’t even leave the embassy to get out to Washington to talk to anybody if he doesn’t have a pardon. Obviously there is an issue there that needs to be dealt with, but we haven’t come to any conclusion yet.”

The U.S. intelligence community has said Russia was involved in the hacking and leaking of emails from the Democratic National Committee during the presidential election. Assange has continued to maintain that Russia was not WikiLeaks’ source and has long maintained that he would never reveal a source.

I would say the Left is doing what it always does admitting defeat without admitting defeat. NPR is saying “Well folks, hold on, maybe we ain’t gonna be able to behead Trump in the public square. There’s a good chance that even if Trump was sleeping with Putin, and everyone knows he was we the people will never know about it formally because, meh, there is a thing called Grand Jury secrecy. This is all pathetic.

    That is a summation of this article;

Robert Mueller May Not Be The Savior The Anti-Trump Internet Is Hoping For

I find it interesting that there is talk of an Assange deal for information on his Hillary/DNC source. (Myself I have some wonder about the legality of that proposal but I’m sure there is a way to get it done, if Assange’s source was Seth Rich he will not be betraying a trust, if Assange’s source was Seth Rich the Democrats, Republicans, Mueller and President Trump already know it). I happen to believe there is about a 98% chance that Rich was Assange’s source.

My bet is that President Trump is going for the jugular sooner than I expected.

The Leftist in power are not as smart as they are bold and they have gone to war with a man smarter and bolder than the whole brood of elites. President Trump is the first man willing to take them all down, he is the first man who other than it’s significance to America, took a step down by moving into the White House. Trump is not enamored with DC he is sickened by it. Hallelujah.
