A woman can dream …

Yes he is very masculine and handsome. Too bad he wants to play sjw in real life.

Not Jamie. Gil, this isn’t real life, it’s fantasy.
Sort of like Rhett Butler wasn’t responsible for what Clark Gable did in real life.

I don’t know about everyone else, but a little fantasy keeps me able to live real life.

Yes you are right. If we only had lots more Jamies everywhere it would make my days that much more dreamy.

They were supposed to start in April they held off. Its been a year! I dont know how many more seasons they will do but I hope they work with the series author to give it a well rounded completion. I just hate when shows end and I yell at the tv, “That’s it???!!!”

I really did not like the last episode of Season 2 (see my post earlier this week):

I havent read the books but i agree with your points. I hated the daughter as written.

I hope she improves, but a big part of the problem is the writing staff. One of my favorite writers (a woman – the one who wrote the wedding episode) has quit.

do not EVEN think about challenging the Scots….
seriously…

I have two ancestors who were members of the “The 42nd (Royal Highland) Regiment of Foot” which was the Scottish infantry regiment in the British Army also known as the Black Watch. Have documented proof. May have fought at the Battle of Montreal in the French and Indian War. Fought for His Majesty in the American Revolutionary War.
The problem with the Scots (as much as I admire them) is that they are usually on the losing side.

I”ve been reading about the Picts. If you go back far enough the Scots have a better track record.

Correction: One ancestor (Thomas Fraser) was a member of the 42nd (Royal Highland) regiment. Another ancestor (Thomas Taylor Ross) was a member of the 78th Highland Regiment (Fraser’s 78 Highlanders), which fought at the Plains of Abraham in 1759. Returned to Scotland, they emigrated to New York colony in 1772, joining the New York King’s Royal Regiment in 1776.

Glad your relatives were not with Maj. Grant who led a small attack force on Fort Duquesne, 1759. Grant survived, most of the 77 Regiment of Foot died. The burial site was known as Grants Hill. Today in Pittsburgh, we have Grant Street, and Allegheny / Pittsburgh Courthouses on Grant Hill.

The relative in the 42nd was too young, I believe. The relative in the 78th was old enough, but not there.

well, usually they were defending their heritage and not attempting to colonize some other people. They might be frugal, but they are not greedy.
It has always been tough to raise a large Army from a small rocky part of the British Isle with a small population and very little domestic resources.
They like the Australians, tend to be fierce fighters and not quitters.
I have always admired anyone that had the fortitude to actually eat a haggis.
I once ate a haggis in Edinborough….had to do a lot of Scotch whiskey first and chase it with a lot of Drambuie afterwards. But in college I owned a blazer made of Black Watch Tartan that I truly liked more than a Navy one.

I had the same problem eating a chicken kielbasa.

I love kielbasa. To be honest, Haggis doesn’t sound much worse than most sausages.

Everybody else loved the kielbasas. They were mostly Yankees. It was making me gag. I finally had to quit. I didn’t like anything about it.

Do you like any kind of sausage?

I don’t particularly care one way or the other. But, I don’t eat pork or beef. I didn’t like the crunch of the kielbasa or the texture or taste of what was in it.
LikeLike
The “crunch” was probably the natural casing. Do you eat lamb? Lamb sausages are quite good, I recently learned.
LikeLike
No, I have never eaten lamb.

No judgment here. It sounds like sausage isn’t in your future.

LOL I am okay with that. I am such a picky eater and I have tried to widen my eating horizons, without much success. That is why I am so proud to have raised a son who will eat almost anything. He will at least try everything.

Fishballs, an Asian delicacy, are nummy.
Same idea as sausage, but it’s ground fish shaped into a one inch ball, then typically boiled in a soup. They are quite firm and tasty, mild and sweet, rather like imitation Krab, which is made from ground pollack, I think.

I’ve seen recipes for lobster sausage, as well.

My favourite Scotsman!
Rabb, C. Nesbitt! When I first moved over there, I couldn’t understand a word of their dialect, but it is English. When this show came out, they had to use sub-titles down South ’cause Londoners couldn’t even understand it.

Watched the series, “Shetland”, and had to have subtitles on to understand them, too.
My wife listens to books on tape and sometimes has difficulty understanding the heavy accents. I suggested she turn on subtitles. 😉
