For the information of Facebook users:

There is a Facebook group called Conservative Treehouse, and they don’t outright claim to be affiliated with CTH, but they don’t correct anyone who makes that assumption, and until an hour or so ago, they were linking to the CTH website, as if they are affiliated.

My guess is that they are monetizing the site, or will. I contacted them by messenger, and they are real smart asses.

Would it really surprise anyone if Israel produced the scientists that cured cancer?

Vaxil is set to have this quasi-vaccine approved for use in humans by 2018, and it cures 90% of cancers, in all ethnicities of people.

In Sid Meier’s Civilization, a computer strategy game, “Cure For Cancer” is considered a Great Wonder of the World. Leave it to Israel. They’ve got this.

Nope, but I remember seeing it. I should have, because I was into model railroads (HO-scale… shut up, Joshua) when I was a teen.

Sid Meier was a genius. Civ started out as a table/card game, akin to Risk™ and Axis and Allies™, and became absolutely amazing when made into a PC game series. You couldn’t save your game with those. No, you had to leave them set up, trusting that nobody would mess with the board, for days. Also trusting that you had no cats or small children.

            • We played Risk a lot as kids. If my brother ever had one army on a country & it withstood a major assault he would bite down on 2 of the 3 “arms” to make it look sort of like the Eiffel Tower & had a special name for this standing tall army, that I’ve (of course) forgotten…

“When the girl returned, some hours later, she carried a tray, with a cup of fragrant tea steaming on it; and a plate piled up with very hot buttered toast, cut thick, very brown on both sides, with the butter running through the holes in great golden drops, like honey from the honeycomb. The smell of that buttered toast simply talked to Toad, and with no uncertain voice; talked of warm kitchens, of breakfasts on bright frosty mornings, of cosy parlour firesides on winter evenings, when one’s ramble was over and slippered feet were propped on the fender, of the purring of contented cats, and the twitter of sleepy canaries.”

Under pressure from President Donald Trump to cut the cost of the next Air Force Ones, the U.S. Air Force is finalizing a deal with Boeing to purchase two undelivered 747s in storage in the Mojave desert.

As Defense One first reported yesterday:

The 747s that will be transformed for Presidential transport were originally ordered in 2013 by Transaero, which was Russia’s second-largest airline until it went bankrupt in 2015. Boeing built two of the four jets in the order, but the airline never took ownership of them.

Typically, an airline makes a 1 percent down payment when it orders a plane, then pays the balance in installments. Transaero did not fulfill its scheduled payments, according to an industry source.

“Aeroflot absorbed most of Transaero’s existing fleet, but declined to pick up Transaero’s 747-8I orders worth $1.5 billion at list prices,” FlightGlobal reported last month.

Environmental rules waived to expedite Border Wall construction

    http://legalinsurrection.com/2017/08/environmental-rules-waived-to-expedite-border-wall-construction/

The Department of Homeland Security trumped the Environmental Protection Agency, waiving numerous rules that could have delayed the construction of the border wall between the United States and Mexico with lawsuits or studies.

Laws intended to protect endangered species and habitat at the border by requiring environmental impact reports can be circumvented by a wavier issued by the department, it said. The announcement was only tied to the San Diego area.

“This waiver is pursuant to authority granted to the Secretary of Homeland Security by Congress and covers a variety of environmental, natural resource, and land management laws,” the department said in a press release.

Border wall prototypes and a physical wall in San Diego could begin in November at the earliest. The waiver opens the door for drilling work by the Army Corps of Engineers and road construction to begin sooner, although a timeline has yet to be provided by the Trump administration.

“Boston Globe: Coming Solar Eclipse Unfair, It’s Only Visible in ‘Trump Country’”
In case you were needing another example of why everyone distrusts the media and why Donald Trump became president, we give you The Boston Globe and writer Matt Rocheleau who wants to know, “Is the eclipse throwing shade at Clinton supporters?” Yes, The Globe actually politicized the upcoming solar eclipse.
Later this month, August 21st, there will be a rare total solar eclipse that will be visible in the United States from coast to coast. However, if you don’t happen to live in the middle of the transit — a thin path of totality — you will only see a partial eclipse. And that’s where Rocheleau believes Hillary supporters are being discriminated against:

    Jack has new music.

I don’t know what “season” he’s up to by now, but I like all his albums bigly.

Does he contradict himself with his criticism in this song of shows with “seasons”? I ask even though I don’t watch TV shows. Musicians are my “seasons”. I can’t wait for Adele’s next album. Or Walk Off The Earth’s. Especially Bobby McFerrin’s. Are those my distractions from reality?

He talks about cognitive dissonance, too, in this song. Holding two opposing views at the same time. It leads to insanity, except in the Left. Jack has a lot of wisdom and love in his music. I’m kinda sure he’s far-Prog, but I could be wrong, and he could be changing, like everyone does.

There isn’t actually a Jack Johnson song I dislike, except for maybe the ones that got overplayed.

Emailed Tesla as there’s an appeal to that new model 3 they’re putting out and it’s right in that new car price range.
Seems that price is for the base model – operant word is ‘base’. Certain things that make it really concenient, such as a color other than black (shades of Henry Ford) and a charging system that recharges the battery in less time than it takes to raise a goat…are extra.
Three issues that caught me were: (1) the closest electrician they recommend who could install the the specisl charging outlet I’d need for the bigger battery is 80 miles away (think of that bill), (2) what would one do in a hurricane-rich area with that car stuck in evacuation gridlock and no widespread charging stations available, (3) what about liability for the autopilot equipped version were one in an accident?
Those hi-mileage cars that use gas are still looking to be the best bet…looking into seeing which small farm engines could be converted to burn alcohol.

They are just starting to realize that working in restaurant kitchens is better than working in the fields, in Michigan. Now all the farmers are suffering from a lack of employees, because all the people from the southern part of our continent are now working in kitchens.

Local news is showing noticeably Latino activists assembling to pressure politicians to stop using public funds to enforce illegal immigrant laws and instead use it to improve public transportation and infrastructure. Sure, why not make it easier for them to reach the welfare offices and associated taxpayer funded services?
As far as public transport goes they could use some money to put metal detectors on busses that serve heavily thug-infested areas and free hazmat suits for riders who sit on the seats would be
    appreciated.

    Miracle At Dunkirk

    http://www.hoover.org/research/miracle-dunkirk

… Finally, the miracle at Dunkirk reminds us of the underappreciated but pivotal British role in World War II. We often reduce the Allied victory to the blood of Russian manpower and the treasure of American supply. And there is much truth to both those generalizations. But spiritually, we should remind ourselves that Britain was the only major power on either side to both begin the global war on its first day and continue to fight it until its last, six years later. It was also the only major power to fight the Third Reich alone, which it did courageously between June 25, 1940 and June 22, 1941. It was the only Allied nation to declare war on the Axis for the principled promise to an ally, Poland, rather than because it was either surprise-attacked or had war declared on it first. British genius gave the Allies everything from sonar to Firefly Sherman tanks to the Ultra intercepts to the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine in the superb American P-51 Mustang.

In sum, Dunkirk is an impressive postmodern glimpse of a premodern nightmare, but a view nonetheless that is without a strategic or political—or much of any—context. Such a landmark event is diminished to a story about any war, rather than the singular British existential struggle to stop Nazi Germany.

There’s one woman at work I hug almost every time I see her.

Can’t help it. Her older, military son committed suicide a few years ago. I can empathize, because my brother, and also she hugs me back just as tight.

Her younger son is Miles. I remember when he was bussing tables at my last restaurant, when he was 10. No, that was not allowed by state law. Now he’s nearly 15 and bussing tables at my current place.

I hadn’t seen or heard from this wonderful lady for a few years, but when I saw her being interviewed, while I was working, dirty apron and all, she saw me and got up and hugged me. I need to let this woman know how much that means to me. How good that feels. How rare that is. Like I said, I hug her on sight. And she hugs me back, bigly.

Miles is a good kid, too. He loves to work, and to learn.
