If ya like this visit Goblin Valley State Park in Utah and Arches too. Goblin’s by the Henry Mountains and if they haven’t moved to other climes there’s a large herd of free-roaming buffalo in/around the mountains. Main difference between Stella’s pic and Goblin is water…Goblin ain’t got a lot.

I had bison for dinner. Theme association, as Mary always says.
Anyway, what makes Turnip Rock special in these parts is its appearance in these parts surrounded by water. It’s unusual. There are lots of strange and beautiful rock formations in Wisconsin – we used to camp near Dodgeville.
LikeLiked by 4 people
We used to get good bison many moons ago, there was a working bison ranch in the Salt Lake area. Here the guy we bought our property from tried to raise buffalo but had to get rid of them as they kept on jumping over his cattle fence and were nasty enough to raise liability issues.
The rock formations in the southern Utah parks used to just fascinate me. You had more freedom to camp and explore before they became huge tourist meccas, now it’s a bit more restricted and crowded…still great rock formations though.

I invited a couple of bison to dinner with me and the spouse…turns out they were ill mannered, smelly, and failed to thank her for the meal…..but I served really cheap wine in secret and they were too unsophisticated to know……easy to see why the Indians whacked most of them

Sigh…ate the bananas before they got ripe enough to make bread with. Most of the South’s bananas come in thru Gulfport, huge ships full. When I was a kid in West Palm they had them coming into the docks there, they swing huge nets full out of the holds and it wasn’t unusual for spiders the size of chihuahuas or huge snakes to fall out of those nets.

Yup, we got those bad boys around here, from NOLA at least north to our place. They make huge webs and lay egg balls the size of a large grape. Come on a variety of color’s too.
We’re sorta fond of our various spiders, on a dewy morn you can se hundreds of grass spider webs on the lawn and there’s no shortage of various kinds tromping around looking for spidy snax. We have a path from the road to the lake about ten feet ride and every night the larger spiders set up webs across it to dine. It’s amazing the size of the webs, all that energy expended in a short time in hopes of snagging some insect tartare.

Last night I made a starter for Anadama bread from “The Baker’s Apprentice”.
The back story on the bread is that a Massachusetts woman left her husband and didn’t just leave him – left him with only a leftover pot of cornmeal mush and some molasses.
He threw the mush, molasses, flour and yeast in a bowl and muttered “Anna, dam ‘er”….and so the bread was named.
The story made me laugh so of course I had to try it. The first batch was exactly according to directions. The second batch will be according to directions…and me.
Two wonderful things about baking bread:
Making it mine. All mine. Mine mine mine.
Sharing with everyone….breaking bread with them.

wow, Stella….I made these WITHOUT nuts too…never did that before, buy mrs joshua had some toothwork and didn’t need hard stuff….and turns out with butter on it, slices make great morning “toasty” stuff. I also cooked a batch of beef stew, but more like soup with all the veggies I put in it….had a bunch that was about to get marginal, and had some great beef steaks in freezer that were frozen longer than I like, so all went into the stew…also had some ham stock I made up and froze, so used that instead of beef or chicken stock in the stew….was planning to freeze and keep left over…but the herd here almost cleaned out the stew from the pot itself…..well, folks gotta eat…to hot to play outside with the bison….if I had any bison here.

This is a reader’s comment to an article in ZeroHedge
“My baby was in New York and she went to Carnegie Hall, where one of the world’s greatest violinists, Vladimir Spivikov was performing with the Virtuosi of Moscow. It was this spring. Real story, not kidding. The concert was packed maybe half the crowd were Russian emigres. When the concert was over, the people coming out of Carnegie Hall were met by maybe 50 or so Antifa protesters accusing Russians of hacking our election….
“Well somebody pushed somebody, and they pushed somebody back, a brawl broke out, and the Russian classical music lovers started beating the shit out of the protesters. It broke out into the street, patrol cars came screeching up and police broke them up.
“Following day – not a word about this in the NYT or anywhere else. Right in front of Carnegie Hall. That’s how bad it is.”

For Outlander fans, seen on Facebook, Diana Gabaldon’s page:
Hi, all! Made it to San Diego Comic Con, and have been having a wonderful time–signed books for a lot of great fans this morning at the Random House booth, had lunch with the cast, production/writing people, and the fabulous Starz and Sony PR staff–then beetled back to the convention center for the much-anticipated OUTLANDER panel!
It was fun and Jenna Dewan did a fabulous job of hosting. But the highlight was….as any of you who’ve been on Twitter in the last hour probably know…that they chose to show the first episode of Season Three!
Ron and Maril and I all sneaked out and sat in the audience, to see how people reacted, and it was truly wonderful to see how riveted everyone was (and as I remarked to Ron afterward, “And they laughed in the right places, too!”).
Anyway, I mention this specifically because I’ve seen a lot of worries that the episode might be talked about widely and spoil it for people who won’t see it until September. So that’s what this specific post is for: IF YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT EPISODE 301 (whether you saw it or not), YOU CAN DO THAT HERE. If you don’t want to know–stop reading. I’ll post something else entertaining for you later tonight. And if you did see the episode, please be considerate and don’t reveal the details all over the internet–at least not without posting a big, fat Spoiler Warning on it.
So…if you want to discuss, feel free! Hope y’all enjoyed it!
Here’s a link to the page if you want to read the conversation, and some spoilers:

Apparently I have been gone too long. Photo #1 is of some sad, pork-deprived happy meal, with the link sausage off to the side, and only 2 measly strips of bacon. I will have to monitor more closely.
P.S. Hi, nyet!

bacon is as bacon does….and it takes a lot of bacon for it to does right….

Doesn’t matter what gender you are, he is the President of all Americans. I can’t think of anything he has said that disparages any human being. I think it is a great opportunity to speak with a great group of young people. The BOA is a long standing organization who have done amazing things for young people. I was part of an Explorer”s group back in the early 70’s. It was a part of BOA and allowed females. Great experience.

shiloh1973…the Explorer organization was a very smart move for the BSA…I too was an Explorer and took a canoe trip for two weeks up though Canadian National Parks with a group…Explorer program recognized that the age group at the end of Boy Scouts was all too young for the Explorer aged boys to stay engaged, as they just discovered girls and the boy scouts took up romance attempting time…..so even more clever, they admitted girls…now these girls had to hold up their own, so they were not Barbie types, but they brought girls to the meetings etc….and many guys were driving by then, and the trips and events were stuff not available to Boy Scouts without some parent of the Troop Leader driving them places.
Also, we sneaked cigars and cigarettes to our outings…but no booze.

When my brother was dying, and just hours before he was gone, he couldn’t communicate or move. I wasn’t even sure he was still with us. I was standing at his bedside holding his hand and praying out loud for God to send angels to be with him because I didn’t want him to be afraid. And, then I saw his eyes fix on me and there was a warmth to them. I know he knew I was there and had heard me. I was really glad that I was there.

Prayers. And more prayers. When I was little my dad was dying a slow death. They did not have hospice then and he was taken to hospital about a week before died. A few days prior to his dying, I remember walking into the hospital room and seeing a man doctor (could have been an orderly for all I know but as a kid, I thought he was a doctor). Anyway, he was laying in the bed snuggling into and holding my dad. The man winked at me and I knew dying was gonna be ok for him. My dad died soon after.
Fast forward forty-five years when Mom was passing over. I crawled in and followed that man from long ago. When I had to leave, i asked workers to do the same. They did. She was peaceful to the end when my sister was blessed to hold her as she passed over.

Something happened over the weekend on Twitter that got me thinking. I hope we Conservatives are coming together to help defend each other from liberals, online and everywhere else. A lady on Twitter mentioned that she had flown in the same plane as Ann Coulter before and that Ann was a nice person and lovely to fly with. I responded to that tweet and then saw that a liberal had cruised by and insulted this woman, so I challenged the liberal to back up what he was alleging.
What really kind of struck me was that this woman really appreciated the backup. I know where she’s coming from; in these confrontations online or otherwise it’s nice to know that someone has your back. I say all this to say, I hope we are all backing other Conservatives up as much as we can. We may not all agree on everything, but I really feel like we need to learn to hang together.

I had a similar experience on Facebook two days ago when a black lady insulted a white woman, calling her bleached-blonde trailer trash. She is nothing of the sort, and I said so! Now I have a new Facebook friend.

We were having a big old hen party, comparing Melania Trump and Madame Macron. A lot of it was catty, but most of it was true. The Hillary lovers among us got nasty and personal about it. Some of them were even defending the “beautiful May-December romance”, while Melania clearly despises the fat old disgusting rich guy she married.

Did they actually say that Melania hates Donald? D:
And if they did, how do they know?
I spend a lot of time asking people how they know things these days. I’ve kind of surprised me about it.

All during the campaign, none of Trump’s opposition, including Repubs and Dems ever argued about His kids being great. Some would even concede he did something right as look at the kids.
Now, in an instant, the uniparty nevertrumpers are rebranding them as awful. I said this loydly in Walmart when I saw People’s latest cover.

Yes, the liberals are becoming unglued. They do not even make a pretense at being civilized, as much as they call for it when the Republicans do something they don’t like.

Just made a pan of dog treats. I’ll let you know how they go over with Tucker:
1 12.5 oz can chicken, with the liquid (you can use tuna)
3/4 Cup Whole Wheat Flour (I used white whole wheat)
3/4 Cup Rolled Oats
2 eggs
1/4 Cup Grated Parmesan
1/8 Cup finely chopped fresh parsley (you could leave this out, or substitute
something else that is safe for your dog to eat)
350 degrees for 20 minutes in a covered, greased 9×9″ pan. Should have the consistency of fudge, and must be stored in the refrigerator or freezer. Cut or break up into sizes appropriate for your dog. They are suggested as training treats, and I think they would be good for that.

lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen

EXCLUSIVE: FBI Seized Smashed Hard Drives From Wasserman Schultz IT Aide’s Home
http://amp.dailycaller.com/2017/07/23/exclusive-fbi-seized-smashed-hard-drives-from-wasserman-schultz-it-aides-home/
FBI agents seized smashed computer hard drives from the home of Florida Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s information technology (IT) administrator, according to an individual who was interviewed by Bureau investigators in the case.
Pakistani-born Imran Awan, long-time right-hand IT aide to the former Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairwoman, has since desperately tried to get the hard drives back, the individual told The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Investigative Group.
A high-level congressional source, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the probe, confirmed that the FBI has joined what Politico previously described as a Capitol Police criminal probe into “serious, potentially illegal, violations on the House IT network” by Imran and three of his relatives, who had access to the emails and files of the more than two dozen House Democrats who employed them on a part-time basis.
Capitol Police have also seized computer equipment tied to the Florida lawmaker…
