    For some reason the breed of the dog was left out of the video but they put it in their FB post…a Berger Picard…rather rare in the U.S. and she was apparently not microchipped. What in the world! Makes a person wonder if she was from an illegal puppy mill and the owners didn’t want to be investigated when reporting her missing.

    Many years ago a friend of mine received a stud male poodle (sounds like the beginning of a groaner of a joke…haha!) from what she thought was from a reputable service so that she could breed her female. The little fellow arrived at LAX and was in such matted condition, full of burrs and dirt, that she called the breeder and told him that he was never getting the dog back, reading him the riot act. She took the little guy to the vet and found that he had a few physical issues but was in pretty condition overall, though obviously had not been taken care of properly. He became a cherished member of my friend’s household

      Back in the early 70s we convinced the county pound to stop adopting out dogs with their AKC papers. Owners would move to Florida, find they couldn’t have their dog in their rental and give it up. They’d include the AKC papers in thoughts that it would make the dog more adoptable.
      Problem is that unscrupulous breeders would adopt dogs of that breed and register six or more litters a year from multiple dogs all registered under one set of papers, AKC wasn’t computerized and the volume of registrations almost guaranteed the unscrupulous would slip thru. Almostvruoned the Dobermans in south Florida.
      A strict spay/neuter on all adoptions and immediate destruction of any registrations that came with dogs took the pound out of the puppy mill business at least.

    Theme association with thethread header pic the old border collie snuck out with the hound. The BC found a ditch that was stagnant, a field of mud and something that was dead for at least a week and had eaten Indian takeout. It was party time.
    I, after getting the passive-resistant ‘you can wash me but I ain’t gonna participate’ treatment am as wet as she is….no, wetter as I had to towel her off. She’s now outside rolling in the fresh cut pasture grass…….
