Handy, but I still like memorization of everything from multiplication tables to formulas. I was taught to derive formulas in trig and calculus, and I understood the complete process because of that. Sometimes, when I got into the later calc classes, it was hard. But I did extra problems until I “saw” the problem.

I’m guessing they may not require all that now. Also, in the one chemistry class I had, I couldn’t afford the allowed programmable calculator. I got my son, freshman in high school, to drill me as we drove to school. I made the only A in class, and he made an A the next year when he too chemistry in high school.

I believe that learning to solve mathematical problems teaches reasoning and problem solving. It’s good for teaching kids a lot more than math.

rote math never came to me, I ended up creating a weird mental system that eats up a lot of space but lets me do a lot of it in my mind. Probably explains a lot about why I can’t remember where my keys, wallet or shoes are.

For 9s I was taught this trick. Hold up ten fingers, palms facing you. For 9 x 2, bend your index finger down, and count the digits on both sides of the gap. 1 and 8. For 9 x 3, bend your ring finger on your left hand down, and count the fingers left and right. (3 and 6). For 9 x 5, bend your pinky finger on your left hand, and see 4 and 5.

    • It’s usually berthed on Congress street, and I walked past it several times in the 90s, usually with a two-wheeled cart and a motorola radio. Either pushing copy paper or office furniture. Or stationary products. Rubber stamps, etc.

Amazing boat. Amazing history. Amazing town.

Later, I found a CD of their early years. it was actually iHeartRadio that introduced me to “Independence Day” and led to me buying the Early years CD.

Here’s one from Tales of Wonder. Slower, but I still like it.

Was there an intelligence leak? Some say a high rank Muslim official in the Pentagon, other say this happened fast, just a RPG shot from a local didn’t know who was on board. Others say local AGN leak. Remember there was two CH-47s………

One thing about the assassination that sticks with me is how much of the action and how many of the actors come right back to New Orleans. It fascinated me and over the years I’ve been to every place mentioned in the investigations and to the assassination spot in Dallas.
Interesting thing is that a few years back someone in the NOLA DA’s office leaked Jim Garrison’s files on his investigation’ There was a witch hunt, a likely suspect was uncovered and the City wanted to hang him under a number of laws. For files that were thirtyish years old and containing tidbits on players mostly long dead the DA’s office fought tooth and nail to keep them buried. Now, probably after being well picked over, they are now in the National Archives.

With things like the Kennedy assassination, Sandy Hook, and others, we can at least take solace in Paul’s 1st letter to Corinth’s church.

“For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.” 1 Cor. 13:12 (KJV)

I’m not saying that it is bad to try and research these things — CTH and Reddit should have existed in 1965, and there would be no mystery at all, or hardly at all.

We still don’t know how Mike Brown was trained to do what he did and why Anthony Shaheed and the MSM were on scene on the knoll before the cops even put up the police tape, and exactly who Tracy Martin was working with in his well-to-do Pseudo-Masonic organization of influential, wealthy black “leaders” when he got his violent son bused up to Sanford.

We will know these details, someday. I don’t dig into the Kennedy thing or the Sandy Hook thing any more, because the signal-to-noise ratio is high. Too high. Robert Anton Wilson’s Illuminatus trilogy made good points about this. There is no way of knowing how much of what we see when we dig into this rabbit hole is intentional dis-information, and muddying of the waters and red herrings.

          I’m patient, though.

Most Windows users who are OCD about their desktop line up their icons on the bottom, all the way across benefit from having a desktop background that matches their choice of icon placement. I group mine. Music group. System Maintenance group, Game group, etc.

That said, the website Interfacelift has some incredible backgrounds, all framed so that your bottom-row icons fit just right, and so that your background is uninterrupted visually.

I’m learning to use the rule of thirds, too. HD Windows backgrounds have to use the rule of 15ths, vertically.

A kid working at my former place just asked for my advice.

He said that the sprayer hose at the dish tank won’t stop spraying.

I could fix it in ten minutes. It needs to be disassembled and cleaned.

I told him to look at it, closely, and figure it out. System D.

I also told him where all the quarter-turn shut-off valves are located in the basement, since the ones under the dish tank are those useless oval pressed pot-metal ones that break when you try to turn them.

Why can’t people just look at it? It’s not a Rubick’s Cube™. It has a Phillips screw and about 5 parts.

No, Impeach. I disassembled it all with the kid, showed him the male-to-female screw assembly that constitutes the hinge for the spray handle, took apart the whole button-valve assembly with him, soaked it in degreaser, used pliers and screwdrivers to do it all, after I borrowed them from my restaurant and my landlord, while the kid kept closing up shop and cleaning the place. And I showed him how to do it, while we both got it done, and re-assembled the sprayer. Now he knows where the water mains in the restaurant are, too.

That’s how He directs my path. I didn’t get paid for those two hours. The kid did.

I remember them from Vietnam. 50 years ago and I can still remember, and still talk about, that yellow and (I believe) blue container of gelatin dessert product that, when mixed with the correct amount of water, forms into a gelatin mass that can be mixed with canned fruit to make a product that is supposed to take your mind off of being shot at. Some brainiac discovered that if you mix it with more water it doesn’t set but subs for a drink mix. Right up until you put ice in and then the mix started to separate out and float in tiny blobs to the bottom of the glass. Never pass a Sysco truck without thinking about that.

True, but if you drive only electrical vehicles you won’t have to worry about gasoline engine pollution. Remember, I used to work for the government.

So France surrendered to Elon Musk?

  21. I cannot help but think the DM s lying about the aims of these protestors.

I believe they are nationalists, and against Globalism because of what has been done to them, via Muslim invasion facilitated by their government, and not just your typical “anti-corporate” types. They may be “anti-corporate” and “anti-Globalism”, but only because of what has been done to them. Look at the pictures! They’re all Germans. All of them.

And the Daily Mail (and probably most MSM) basically calls them “Occupy Wall Street” folk.

Why would you dislike a government that dislikes it’s own citizens and wishes to dilute and replace them all with new ones from other cultures, against the wishes of its own citizens? Who would possibly dislike a government like that?

But no, this is only Anti-Corporate, and nothing else.

    Bull cookies.

    lilbirdee12’s prayer:

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen
