And one wonders if that lie, distant rumbling sound isn’t the Founders spinning in their graves.

Government services shut down in Maine and New Jersey, both states declare states of emergency

Both states appear to have enough money to fund the budget, problems seem to be in areas of legislating more powers to get more monies. Can’t wait for Louisiana to try a ‘state of emergency’ declaration as the state’s in the same bag..problem in La is that a huge chunk of the budget’s untouchable earmarked for Gool Old Boy recipients.

Czar, I may have stopped mayhem here tonight, by tipping off two County cops to what was planned, and what info I was privy to earlier today.

Our town is split by a drawbridge. North of it, almost no businesses. Cops protect businesses. Lots of whitebread folk with fine houses on that side. Lots of businesses on the south side.

So. After the fireworks, the bridge remains open. For a long time. That means cops have to travel a long way to get to the north side. They planned this via social flashmob media, just like they did last year, when they got many jurisdictions’ po-pos to actually shut down our north beach altogetherm because the ferals were being feral. Throwing beer coolers up into the air at velocity, for instance, into crowds of white people with their kiddos, who just wanted to watch the fireworks. Just going bonkers.

Add: they were going to take over a park on the north side. I heard fewer sirens tonight than any July 4 in ten years. Who knows? Maybe they decided “lets get together in large groups and actually be GOOD!”

If I made a mark on that, then good. Quit being evil, you people! Quit committing crimes!

Roger Lenneman, WZZM 12:07 AM. EDT July 04, 2017

GRAND HAVEN, MICH. – Grand Haven State Park was evacuated and shut down Monday evening after police responded to a large fight on the beach.

Grand Haven officers were called to the park around 7 p.m. for a disturbance. The situation continued to get worse throughout the evening hours. Officers say 300 people were causing problems and began fighting. They say there were eight to 10 fights taking place.

Officers working on crowd control called in all available off-duty officers and for help from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan State Police, and Norton Shores Police Department. State park employees made the decision to close the park.

Everyone inside the park, besides those camping there, were asked to leave. Officers were able to clear the park by 9:30 p.m. Patrols in downtown Grand Haven were increased following the evacuation to make sure the violence didn’t move.

Grand Haven officers say there were no reported injuries or damage to property during the fights. They also expect to have extra security on Tuesday to make sure there isn’t a repeat occurrence during Independence Day celebrations.

The completely appropriate word is “feral”. Imagine five generations of a people who never taught their kids right from wrong, and worse, taught them that wrong was right.

That’s what we see in these people, in these stories.

I love working with these folks, and at the same time, for them. Preaching the Gospel without using words. A little leaven, as it were, loving actively. That gets through more than words do. It’s fun when you realize that you’re not working for the paycheck, but for the Glory of God, and when you see the results.

I’m hopeful that your PD is motivated more by public safety than by political directions. It isn’t unusual in some jurisdictions for the pols to either figure out when ‘things’ are going to happen or get intel that something’s afoot. At that point they have to make decisions: will we risk aggravating the actors and their supporters by taking action, will we take action and risk making things worse or will we sit it out and just respond when something happens?

Chef’s dog, a little Maltese named Stewie, just yawns. He watched the fireworks last night with his dogmom, close-up, down at the pier. No fear at all of things that go boom… Same with my kitteh. They are city animals, I suppose. Noise is just part of the city.

We were sitting outside at Chef’s house last night, sans lights and incognito, watching the bumper-to-bumper exodus from the city until 1:30 or so, and at least three people within a block were setting off astonishing displays every couple of minutes.

Stewie just absorbs the vibe of his people. If we’re calm, then so is he. Another friend of mine had a yellow lab. If you got a gun out, he ran and hid and shivered. Even though he’d never seen a gun in his life. I never understood that, and we figured it must be genetic memory or something.

Best year ever for it. Michigan finally legalized the good ones a couple of years ago, with restrictions on WHEN. Two weeks before and after Independence from King George III Day, anything goes. Homemade cannons, mortars, whatever. I guess the state finally figured that it’s in the state’s best interest to let the stupid people suffer the consequences, and Darwin wins — and so does the state.

It’s like one of those rolling thunderstorms right now, aurally. Constant booms, cracks, bangs, and even professional pyrotechnic-like displays. From every direction.
