Just got blocked on Facebook on a post about funding for Planned Parenthood. The original poster tried to shame me for “not caring” about other women, criticized me for citing the statistic that more than 90% of abortions are elective and that these women are more interested in their own convenience rather than the life of the human being she has created. Of course there was the usual complaint that I am trying to tell a woman what to do with her own body.

I mentioned the reasons given in a survey of women who had abortions why they were having one. See study info: http://www.johnstonsarchive.net/policy/abortion/abreasons.html

Her response? The usual “a fetus isn’t a baby until it is born”

I answered that some of those babies would have been born if they hadn’t had their skulls crushed and limbs torn off during the process of removing them from the womb. I also asked her if she knew what a saline abortion was and how it tortured the baby, sometimes for hours, before it died.

That’s when she blocked me. Can’t have facts, can we?

ADD: I also cited the stat that 45% of abortions are repeats. Kind of shoots down that “mistake” excuse.

Just heard from Col. Ken via email:

    Good Morning Stella,
Thursday afternoon received about 5″ of rainfall within 2 hours. This caused considerable damage to my house, basement. Various parts of the farm were underwater, crop damage…
All farm buildings okay except barn, soil erosion.
Internet and main roads were just restored this morning. Secondary roads are severely damaged and will take months to repair.
I just caught up on topics on the site, did not comment though.
My neighbor lost their 30 y/o son during the storm. He died in the arms of his father who was trying to save him. Very tragic. My issues are minor compared to their loss.
Lots of work to be done. Have flood restoration company coming at 6am, and many things to do.
Wanted you to know, I’m still standing…..
Hope all is well with you.
    Col (R) Ken

Other than persistently referring to the men as “Asian” (they are Muslims from Pakistan), this is an excellent article.

The answer is also, in part, the answer to my third question, of why it took the authorities so long to wake up to what was going on in front of their very noses.

Political correctness. The kind of political correctness that does not question a 13-year-old when she asks for an abortion; that does not address the wider causes of drug-taking and drinking for fear of pushing the victims away; that takes such a non-judgmental, non-interventionist approach to the work of social workers that they may as well not bother.

If we as a society don’t have the moral courage to address these issues, if we don’t offer our young people the guidance and protection they need as minors, is it any wonder that uneducated men from more socially archaic parts of the world think it’s acceptable to abuse them?

That is not to justify what these men did, or to excuse it in any way. It is simply to say that this is a problem that does not have its origins only in the villages of rural Pakistan, but in decades of progressive liberalism — espoused and promoted right here in Britain — that has slowly but surely undermined our own core moral values.

  10. It appears that the internet has gone back twenty years, and it’s 1997 again, with the incessant and intrusive ads and a hundred scripts per page. Brave is broken on WordPress. It snaps you back to the top of the page for no apparent reason when you’re trying to scroll down. Typing in this field is like a slideshow.

News websites, gaming websites, photobucket, they are all full of 1997-like pop-up ads, and you have to click “X” on ten of them before you even read the article. Even with Pale Moon and NoScript, it’s a herculean chore to even read an article, let alone how to read the comments, and which scripts to enable so you can even read the comments, because all those pages have over a hundred scripts, trackers, cookies, and pop-ups, all with obscure names.

This is a recent development. The monetization of the internet has made it, in the last year or so, almost impossible to read the internet. 119 scripts are being blocked by NoScript just on this simple page. Go to Photobucket or LA Times, and you’re treated to several hundreds of them.

First-world problems, I know. It’s almost like someone is trying to break the internet, or to break us of the internet. Even YouTube won’t let you skip ads any more. How many times do I have to watch a video for a new antidepressant? As many as the videos I want to watch.

Within the last year, it all changed, for the worse.

Still praying for Col. Ken and his neighbors.

Trump said he wanted a rich person to be in charge of the economy. Wonder why?

Jane Sanders is being investigated for lying on mortgage forms which ended up closing Burlington College. I think this answers the question:

“This whole situation goes back to the purchase of lands that Burlington College had made under Jane Sanders when she overstated the college’s finances in applying for a $6.7 million loan to purchase the land. She had said that the college had $2.6 million pledged to purchase the land.”

“There was only $676,000 in actual donations to the college from 2010 to 2014.”

“When Jane Sanders came onboard, she had a plan to build up enrollment and to expand the school’s endowment. She had hoped that the purchase of the land to expand the campus and increasing the enrollment would work in covering the purchase of the land.”

“It did not work. The college is now bankrupt.”

    lilbirdee12’s prayer:

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen

Wooly, last night I was at a street/music festival. It was one of those gloriously perfect summer nights, cool breeze, good friends, laughter, dancing children, dancing little old men, I was sitting there admiring the dusk as the clouds and sky began to become one. There was the smell of a sweet cigar and Apple Jolly Ranchers in the air, a fat ol’ dog snuggled in his owners lap, young teenagers wishing that they were older and old women and men wishing they were younger.

As I was sitting there lost in my own thoughts it came upon me to pray for you.

This is the next song that these fellows played almost simultaneously as my prayer began. It’s all about going home so maybe you are headed to Florida or maybe there is another message.

They are from WI and lived on the Michigan coast which is their home.

Amazingly, surreally, I’m not crying. Just calm and pensive.

Not grinning ear-to-ear, either. Normally, faced with your account of you praying for me, I’d be doing both at the same time. Somehow, I’m not. Don’t know why, but I think I do.

        Prayers have power.

Thank you, Lovely. You are Lovely. I don’t know that I need any more signs that I’m making the right decision, but they keep coming.

We brought twomold Siamese cats and a somewhat ageless Turkish Angora from northern Utah to New Orleans in a U-Haul. That was after the two Siamese had come from southern Florida to northern Utah in a vehicle smaller than a U-Haul. Except for that small issue of having to extricate the cats from a motel box Spring in Shreveport it all went fine.

Where do they poop and pee on an 18-hour drive? Do I need a litter box in the cab?

Yup, catbox on tne cab. A nice scented litter helps, as does feeding them only dry food while you are on the road. Also helps to get the cat used to travel with short trips in the car around town before you leave. Vet can also get you pharmaceuticals to help mellow the cat on the real trip if the need be.
A nice carrier with padding helps too, keeps the cat from zooming out when you stop for whatever. Once cat gets used to the motion you can let it out in closed cab but expect yo have to recover it from under the seat.
Did I mention not telling the rental company you are riding with a cat doing shotgun?

I don’t know what anybody else thinks, but I would consider getting him used to a harness. Like having him wear it inside all the time until you leave, never outside. It would give you something to grab hold of if you needed to on the trip.

We traveled once with a cat and had the windows rolled up. He was loose in the car. No problems. Until…….we came to some construction and backup, etc. and my husband forgot and rolled his window down. Zoom, out went the cat. Luckily my husband caught him by the tail as he went out the window and pulled him back in. We would never have found in him all the confusion. 🙄
