    Thinking of Nyet…

Washington not only won its first women’s crew national title since 2001, it became the first team in the 20 years that it has been a sanctioned event to sweep all three races: the varsity eight, the second varsity eight and the four.

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. — The University of Washington women’s rowing team didn’t just win another NCAA national championship, the Huskies made history in storming to their fourth team title.

Washington swept all three grand events Sunday for the first time in the 21-year history of the regatta.

Yasmin Farooq became the first coach to win the championship at two different schools, also claiming a title with Stanford. In addition, the former Olympian became the first coach to win an NCAA rowing championship in the inaugural season at the helm of the title team.

“They showed what great teammates do for one another,” a smiling Farooq said after the trophy presentation. “We always viewed it as a team championship where every single person mattered.”

The Huskies, who swept all nine races over three days on Mercer Lake, delivered the 500th team championship for the Pac-12, making the conference the first to reach the historic milestone.

Seen on Facebook (long, but worth the time):

UR FOUNDATION IS THE SPIRIT OF FREEDOM
Everything has a foundation. The bedrock of America’s foundation is our ingrained spirit of freedom. For years, progressive ideologues have attacked our foundation with the destructive impact of their freedom destroying attacks not usually known until many years later. Now, we must stand more vigilant than ever if we are to remain free people. Because when the foundation can no longer support the structure, it will fall.
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. – 2 Corinthians 3:17 (NIV)

According to Kris Kristofferson in his song, Me and Bobby McGee, “freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose.” I agree. When everything else is lost, if you choose it, you still have freedom.

The Unanimous Declaration of the Thirteen United States of America begins:
We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed, by their CREATOR, with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

In our founding declaration, we affirmed to the world and acknowledged before God, that freedom is God given. For most of our country’s history, we have defended the affirmations in our declaration. Americans have sacrificed their lives to defend the spirit of freedom, even in foreign lands. Because we have understood and defended the principle that men are the guardians of freedom and not the givers of it, our country is blessed. For many years, men, considering themselves progressives who would move us to something better, have tried to nudge us away from the enduring principle that forms our nation’s foundation.

Men can take from you material possessions, but they cannot take freedom because unlike material things freedom does not originate with men. Men have the free will to choose so it is only by choice that freedom is lost. People who are not free are so because they made men the givers of freedom by permitting them to make seemingly insignificant choices that they should have made for themselves. That was their first precarious step taken down a primrose pathway. A pathway painted by men who desire to control other men and who aspire to replace God as the givers of freedom. These progressives promise that their pathway leads to utopia when truthfully it leads directly to living hell. It is only utopian for them because they will not abide by the freedom restricting rules that they will impose on everyone else. When we allow men to replace God as the givers of freedom, freedom is lost.

Just as man cannot give you integrity, dignity, courage, your values or cannot determine whether you live honorably, neither can he give you freedom.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. – Galatians 5:1 (NIV)

As Americans, we can continue as the guardians of freedom or our citizenry can submissively slip the yoke of slavery around its neck.

    C. S. Lewis tells us:
Most, I fancy, have discovered that to be born is to be exposed to delights and miseries greater than imagination could have anticipated; that the choice of ways and any cross-road may be more important than we think; and that short cuts may lead to very nasty places.

Bound by the unalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness endowed to us by our Creator, choices for now are ours to make in the United States of America. If living in a cardboard box is your idea of the pursuit of happiness and you are not breaking any laws, infringing on the rights of others, or insisting that others provide for your needs, then that is a choice you are free to make. Allowing other men to choose for you is a short cut that may lead to very nasty places.

I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice. He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete. –Luke 6:47-49 (NIV)

The cornerstone of our nation’s foundation is trust in God and God given freedom. Preserved on this foundation is our most enduring principle. We arrive in this life as free men with unalienable rights, blessed by God, and equipped with the ability to reason, choose and distinguish right from wrong and good from evil. God instilled that spirit of freedom in the hearts of all men, not just those who were fortunate to have been born American. Being born in the world’s freest nation is indeed a blessing, but being born here does not ensure freedom.

The gift of freedom and the blessing of life in the United States of America obligate us to defend the one place on this earth founded on the principles of trust in God and God given freedom. Allowing men to be the givers of freedom will crush the rock on which our nation stands. We must protect the foundation that lights the one true pathway of hope for the un-free world. – JD PENDRY —

I don’t know if I posted this already, but it’s a good summation of why IG will replace Wikipedia.

            https://voxday.blogspot.com/2017/05/why-wikipedia-cant-change.html

Is it possible for Wikipedia to become more nonpartisan? What would it have to do?

It is theoretically possible for Wikipedia to return to its nonpartisan mission, but it is very unlikely because the inmates are now fully in control of the asylum. The admins vet very carefully for ideological correctness; no matter how long or how well an editor has contributed, he will not be permitted to become an admin if he does not fit the approved ideological profile. It would probably be necessary to completely replace all of the current admins and most of the Wikimedia Foundation board with individuals committed to objectivity and neutrality. Needless to say, that is not going to happen.

How do you create an encyclopedia or reference source that people across the political aisle agree on? Is that possible? Should we want such a source?

Your question indicates a failure to grasp how Infogalactic is designed to operate. Wikipedia is organized in a vertical, centralized, absolutist manner where there is One True Page over which the various editors war, and which the admins ultimately exert control. Infogalactic is designed to be organized in a horizontal, decentralized, relativist manner so that the user, through his perspective filters, will dictate which of the hundreds of versions of the page he wishes to see. This is not only possible, but you will see it in operation within nine months. And yes, we should want such a source, because there is no reason that anyone, from any point on the ideological spectrum, should be permitted to define what is, and what is not true, for everyone else.

Whose side is God on? The question isn’t really that tough – and is frequently and clearly answered in Scripture. It’s willing to answer the question on a personal/natonal basis that is tough for mankind/individuals to truthfully verbalize.

Abraham Lincoln rephrased the question when he said, “I’m not as concerned about whether God is on our side as I am – whether we are God’s side.”

Most people actually do not claim to be on God’s side unless and when they see their own cause as righteous. That’s my opinion – based on what I’ve seen around me, in our country, in my own life, in the lives of those close to me.

Most are anxious to be seen as “on God’s side” until He requires something of them that they did not expect and then, they quietly dig in and very often, even those close around them are not aware they have dug in.

My thoughts. I’ll go back out in the yard now.

Listening to the Dave Hodges link now – he mentions Fellowship of the Minds site – I am familiar with that. Good stuff, good people.

He says with confidence “….we know they launder money for drugs….for child sex trafficking……” Except for the recent parade of those who believe this, and all the links about it from every possible kind of source – – maybe I’m just clueless and brainless….BUT…..how do we “KNOW” that? How does he KNOW that?

I really don’t get how so many people KNOW so many things – about George W, about these things, about Pizzagate….etc. etc. etc. I surely understand what people believe and what they heard……but that THEY KNOW??

I recognize group movements opposed to the character of bad people (like Hillary)…..but that phrase “we know……”

Personally? I don’t “know” all those things – about any of the bad players. Do you guys? If so, how do you know? Is such a knowing just a running out of the continuum of what you know about their character? That I understand. But that is still different that knowing they specifically did this or not…..

I listened to the whole thing now.

He never develops the initial claim further than knowing things.

I’m not just trying to be dense. Maybe I’m being dense without trying, that’s always possible. There’s a whole of this going on – starting what “everybody KNOWS what McCain did in Vietnam.” Thinking is important and needs to be a filter we use when someone says they know something that is still in the wind.

Guess what, folks, vets are not protected classes of peoples. Unless the Congress specifically creates a program giving vets jobs they really have no ‘right’ to one. In hiring for a Federal job a vet gets a few ‘points’, now mostly a meaningless benefit, but still doesn’t have anywhere near the hope of getting a Federal job that a non-vet member of a Federally protected class has just walking in off the street. Thst applies to vets with skiils in the job being offered being up against a protected group member with zero skills. They can always just send the groupie off to some shake-and-bake Federal school.
I know of at least one Federal jobs program that was created to hire ONLY vets, especially returning Vietnam vets, that was turned into a minority hiring program with Congress’s desire to get votes for the upcoming elections. Then again, an enterprising bureaucrat who can find/hire a minirity disabled vet gets a three-bagger and a golden ticket to a bright career.
A pat on the back one day a year is nice but vets would like to gave a good job they can support their families on the other 364.

      • I appreciate what your saying and I totally agree. This is just giving assistance for specific needs to vets and deployed service men and women, for things they are asking for. I gave $$ today to help a vet who is on disability due to radiation from Fukushima. He’s asking for plane ticket $ to fly to see his son he has not seen in four years. The VA has screwed him over, something you are all too familiar with, unfortunately. You get to pick where your money goes and assist directly.

It is sad that someone who had the entire world has thrown it all away. Too much success at an early age and did not know how to handle it.

    lilbirdee12’s prayer:

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families as they seek to lead America back to You.

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.

In Jesus name, we pray. Amen

Today has kicked my butt. I live in a very old single wide that gets really hot when the temps in Eastern Washington skyrocket. It got up to 86 today. The “friends” that said they would help me move my portable A/C units in to their place, bailed on me. I spent most of the day wrestling them into place. They weigh about 65lbs each. The two cats tried to help, but just slowed my effort down. I have four of them in place and it is bearable in my house now. funny thing is, the two cats are sprawled out in front of the A/C’s like dang Mom what took you so long? Cats, gotta love how they bring us back to reality. I think they actually rule the world, we just don’t know it yet.
